I'm gonna be honest- I don't really understand Shun/Alice shipping. I mean, I like playing with it as a one-sided thing from Shun, but I do not think they have any chemistry. In the same vein, I really dislike Dan/Runo. That is to say, I'm probably one of the very few Dan/Alice shippers, which has the added bonus of also being Dan/Masquerade shipping. I cannot see a ship working for Alice if Masquerade can't also tolerate the person, and the only person he would tolerate is Dan. Dan is also the most accepting of this whole mess. Meanwhile Shun literally drove her to run away.

her: they're probably thinking abt other women
me: at the end of episode 52 of nv when everyone's saying goodbye, helios and drago talk abt hopefully the next time they meet they'll still be friends and be on the same side. when spectra shows up again in ms he tells them that yes they're still friends and on the same side, however when he comes back the brawlers are falling apart and dan has a link to magmel and is also generally being a Huge Jerk™, which might be an understatement. bringing back spectra during this arc was a brilliant idea bc other than being the writers' clear favourite, nv already set up parallels between dan and spectra and the contrast between how dan's acting and how even spectra of all people is actually disturbed and concerned by it shows how bad the situation has actually gotten.

pls give me your review of Next to Normal London youre the only one i trust
do i want to talk too much about next to normal? yes, i do.
some disclaimers: first, i am extremely specific about my opinions on next to normal, so if you're thinking "that's a dumb thing to say!" well sorry but remember ive been marinating in this show for over a decade. also, this is just going to be a review of the principle cast! i did see a cover run but i wont talk about them here (feel free to ask about them though if you like)
alright, without further ado here are my thoughts on each actor + the staging/general thoughts:
diana (caissie levy):
i thought she did a great job overall, but i didn’t love some of the vocal changes she made to the songs. she has a beautiful voice, but her version of i miss the mountains was a little too “i’m performing!” for me. missed the needed rawness of alice here
i did really like her change of softening “can” in “i love you as much as i can” though
her acting was phenomenal, the moment with gabe's baby clothes was heartbreaking. she also had AMAZING chemistry with natalie, and i think her version of so anyway is my favorite that i've ever seen
i’m interested to see how she develops further into diana because i think there’s room for more understanding in the more nuanced parts of her character. she improved a lot as the show went on which tells me she struggles with the humor and manic side to diana that is more prevalent in act 1
dan (jamie parker):
i think his singing voice is perfect for dan, but his speaking voice was so strange to me. i don’t know if it was him trying to act around the accent or his true interpretation of the character, but a lot of his dialogue didn’t work for me the way his songs did. like i would be absolutely in love with a number and then he'd speak and i'd be thrown out of it i don't know
his acting was great though, i really enjoy this goofier version of dan than the original version. he's more playful and i really like that it humanizes him more and also helps bridge the dan that fell in love with diana and the dan of today
he's also i think the first dan i've seen play the role with so much anxiety? like clinical anxiety, he's basically having a panic attack at the end of i'm alive reprise/during the break. i really really liked the nuance that it brings to dan
gabe (jack wolfe):
his voice is great for the role, and the way he looks too just fits with the character idk really good casting here
he was definitely less creepy than i felt the original version wanted him to be, i haven’t decided if i like that or not. i think it added more to gabe’s development as a character, but i think took a little away from the fact that gabe is not actually a real person
he seems like less of a comfort object for diana in this version as well, which again i don't mind but changed the dynamic. this gabe felt more attached to the whole family
REALLY good solo in light, heartbreaking sweetness in i dreamed a dance
natalie (eleanor worthington-cox):
i absolutely LOVED her. she was by far the standout for me in this cast. her acting was perfect, she clearly understands natalie incredibly well, and her voice is wonderful too. very good understanding of the purpose of the songs.
she made a couple dynamic changes during catch me im falling that i thought were strange, but i could also see that coming from her trying not to copy the original
i think her natalie is the most scared that i've seen it played, which worked well with this interpretation of dan. it all built up really well to her breakdown in hey#3
i also felt a stronger connection between dan and natalie in this version more than i have with any other, so light hit a lot harder
henry (jack ofrecio):
i feel bad about this one but honestly i really did not connect with his interpretation of henry. that’s the nicest way i can say it
he seems like such a sweet guy and his voice is absolutely gorgeous, but... that's kind of where my likes end
he didn’t seem to understand any of the jokes he was telling because he couldn’t make any of them land (and he’s a very comedic character so what happened bro 😭)
he was too “nice guy." henry is written in a way that can come off really insensitive and whiny and it takes the actor bringing it to life to get away from that. he just didn't seem to add another side to it
for example, when he says “then i’m sure they will be” during catch me i’m falling i wanted a little more… i don’t know, hesitation or disbelief in himself? and when he says “why do i get denied” i was just like my god bro she’s dealing with real shit, get over it. acb’s delivery of that line comes across way more as like. im hurting because i don’t know how to help you, please let me help you. this guy was just a whiny boyfriend.
again, great voice, but everything besides his singing either just felt very flat or was aggravatingly annoying to me.
madden/fine (trevor dion nicholas):
honestly i don’t usually have strong opinions on this guy. his voice was great, he did a solid rockstar.
his biggest part for me is at the end when he’s trying to convince diana to stay in treatment. it’s the first time you see his douche doctor mask fall and you realize he genuinely believes his way is correct and doesn’t understand why it isn’t working. i think he did it really well, i’ve never seen a madden/fine do it with so much anger but it actually worked for me
staging:
honestly i applaud them for being brave enough to change this much. having a real set already helps me separate this revival from the original run
i think the lack of true set in the original adds to the tone of the show, though, so this production did feel very different and more concrete which made some of the weirder blocking not work as well (like during my psychopharmacologist and i). instead of feeling more abstract and conceptual it was like oh They're In A House
but i don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, i just think it makes it a slightly different show and a person's preference will probably just be which one they saw first. i'm sure people who see the london version for the first time will see the original and wonder where tf everything is lol
i also seriously missed dan wiping up during i’ve been (i know he still does it but the double bucket is SUCH an effective stage trick)
and i missed gabe's general parkour, again him really just owning the stage like that helps him feel like not a real person
my one criticism of the staging is that in my opinion it felt cluttered and busy at times
general pros:
the kids felt younger, particularly gabe (even tho the actor is older than aaron and kyle were?? he just looks like he’s 14 i guess), which i think changed the tone a little for the better. makes them more sympathetic
the band ROCKED. slight mixing differences but not unwelcome
i loooooved this version of maybe. literally every second of it was perfect.
general cons:
i don’t know if british people are just irritating or something but the jokes were not hitting unless it slapped them in the face. they also seemed to miss a lot of references like the one to macgyver, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest, sound of music, but they laughed at the portland joke EVERY TIME? lmao idk
why the balloons lol cut that pls
i’m probably missing soooo much so pls send specific asks about anything in the show (with or without my opinion attached lol) and i’ll do my best!

13 books
What’s up readers?! How about a little show and tell? Answer these 13 questions, tag 13 lucky readers and if you’re feeling extra bookish add a shelfie! Let’s Go!
Thanks @willameena for the tag! :D
1) The Last book I read:
Idk if it counts since it's a graphic novel but the last thing I read was Bolchoi Arena, by Boulet and Aseyn. It's a sort of Ready Player One universe (less dystopic i think though). I really like it, but I'm waiting for the fourth volume to come out and there isn't a release date yet 😭
(I don't think there's an English translation (yet) so i can only recommend it if you speak french, sorry)
2) A book I recommend:
Iron Widow, by Xiran Jay Zhao. LOVED IT! I'm bad at recommending stuff but: big monsters, pacific rim style machines to fight the monsters, polyamory, ruthless woman, plot twists... So cool!
Also Loveless, by Alice Oseman, because it's about aromanticism and asexuality which is almost non-existent in... any media really, and that book is very dear to me.
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
All the ones I really like x) I struggle a lot with putting down a book once I'm into it. The first advice to fall asleep easier is always 'don't use your phone before bed, read a book instead!' but if I do that I won't even try to sleep, I'll just keep reading all night...
But I guess the one that I was the most surprised about not being able to put down is The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follet. I'm not particularly into historical books, and that's a huge book around the building of a cathedral, so I was a bit skeptical, but damn, it was great! It's over 1000 pages and I still managed to read it in less than a week while on a school trip.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):
So many of my childhood books. I almost spent more time re-reading my favorite stuff than reading new books lol. I think the ones I've re-read the most are Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and La Quête d'Ewilan.
5) A book on my TBR:
So many. Soooo many. I keep buying books even though I don't read them, help.
I'll go with the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers because I really want to read them, people keep recommending them, I have them (in a really cool edition), I can literally see them in my bookshelf right now, and yet I don't read them for some reason 🤷
6) A book I’ve put down:
Also a lot. If I manage to put a book down I can forget it exists in a couple of days, even if i loved it, and weeks later I'm like "oh shit, I never finished that book".
One of the few that I put down more or less on purpose is Silo, by Hugh Howey. I'm pretty sure I would like it if I kept reading but something happens only a few chapters in that put me off and kind of annoyed me so I never read the rest.
7) A book on my wish list:
Revenge of the Sith! And many other star wars books. The reason why I still don't have it is that I want it in english so I have to order it online from the UK probably, and between the shipping and the taxes from being from outside the EU (sometimes there are taxes, sometimes not, i don't understand how it works)(one time I had to pay taxes on my own clothes that I sent myself from the UK to France 😭😭 I'm still mad about it) it'll end up being way more expensive than it should, so I'm putting it off x) I looked for it when I was in scotland but they didn't have it :(
8) A favorite book from childhood:
The ones I mentioned in 4) were my all time fav, I can't think of any other right now even though I used to read a lot more books than i do now 🤔
9) A book you would give to a friend:
Honestly I would be so scared they didn't like it that I probably would never give a book to anyone unless they asked for it 😬 (except my family I guess)
Mayyybe a Dan Brown, like The Da Vinci Code? I feel like that would be a pretty safe bet, unless they hate the genre.
10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own:
I don't think I have any? I had to read Alcools, by Apollinaire for the baccalauréat (french high school graduation exam) but I think it was my mom's copy and i honestly hated it. According to my teacher it was "cubist poetry" which, what? I was not smart enough to understand any of it, and it wasn't doing it for me.
(Literary analysis is my nemesis, I'm usually pretty smart but when I try to analyse a text it's just *no thoughts, head empty*)
I'm really picky about poetry so I don't really know where to start to read any.
11) A nonfiction book you own:
I don't have many: a few anthologies of queer stories, How to Invent Everything by Ryan North (literally what the title says lmao), Eject! Eject! by John Nichol (about the history of ejection seats, super interesting!), Les Guerres de Lucas by Renaud Roche and Laurent Hopman (a french graphic novel about George Lucas), and Tu mourras moins bête by Marion Montaigne (scientific stuff explained, but make it hilarious, also french comics)
12) What are you currently reading:
Ithaca, by Claire North, but I've barely started.
13) What are you planning on reading next?
No idea! Maybe Iron Flame, maybe The Priory of the Orange Tree, maybe Floating Hotel, maybe finally the Wayfarers series, maybe a random other book, who knows 🤷
If you've read all of that, thank you and congratulations!

I'm not super back into Bakugan (that five-year solo special interest phase will be missed) BUT impulse buying a Shun funko pop has reignited something in me
SO I'm gonna write some random headcanons of the core six (anything after season one doesn't exist to me lol sorry) and their Bakugan:
-Hitting Shun with the Autisti-fication beam. Only talks when he feels it's important, super observant, can't tell you how he feels for the life of him (I am him, actually). In my hc, he's pretty sensitive to bright lights, fucking hates people touching his forearms or neck, as is over-empathetic.
-Runo wants to be a lawyer. No one's 100% sure where this ambition came from, but it likely has something to do with the constant sexual harassment she faces in her current workplace under the watch of her criminally ignorant father... but who knows🤷‍♀️
-Always designating this hc to the loudest mf in the show, but Dan is a youtuber. That guy is an absolute Clout Chaser. He'd do a lot of irl stuff I think, like challenges, pranks, storytimes- and of course, a lot of Bakugan content. Some would compare him to David Dobrik. He'd fucking kill those people.
-Julie lifts. Girl could bench-press you in a heartbeat. When she gets excited, she'll just grab whoever's closest to her and twirl them around like a doll. However, she's learned to ask people if they're okay with this beforehand since becoming friends with the aforementioned autistic ninja. ^^^
-Alice listens to Death Grips when she knits. That's it. Guillotine has the best rhythm for knitting in her opinion.
-Marucho had a big "in a silly goofy mood😋" phase after he stopped being his parents' bitch. He tried really hard to do silly and "outlandish" things that were actually like... bare minimum. He used an empty chip packet as a hat and thought he was going completely off the rails.
-Obviously Runo swears the most out of the group- girl has a lot to say, and a lot of it consists of "you dumb fucking bitch." Dan tries to swear just as much, but it doesn't come naturally to him so it always feels very off when he does. Marucho, Shun, and Julie don't swear as often, but when they do, it's always unexpected and very hilarious. Alice is the only one who actively doesn't want to swear.
-On the Bakugan's end, Preyas uses a lot of old-timey slang for swear words. Dan told Drago that "fuck" is interchangeable with "play" and insanity ensued. Gorem tries not to swear because he knows it's impolite. Tigrerra also thinks it's impolite, but sometimes you just need to call your fellow Bakugan a bitch (and damn does it feel good, even if they have no idea what you're talking about). Skyress only swore once, when she told Shun's grandpa that she fucked Shun's mum. Hydranoid has never heard a swear word in his life and Alice is determined to keep it that way.
-Little self-insert shipper Laz would kill current me for this, but it has to be said: Dan, Runo, and Shun are in a polyamorous relationship. Three bisexual icons. It was bound to happen. I could write a whole post about their relationship if I could be bothered. Maybe I will be bothered one day.
-Actually maybe the entire gang is bisexual (except for maybe Alice... we need a lesbian other than the pretty evil Vexo lady). At first I thought about making Julie a lesbian, because then she'd be a pink femme lesbian (just like me fr), but I do kind of like her relationship with Billy, so she's yet another bicon. I've also heard of this dude named Tsubasa Ren that Marucho has a thing for, so *slams fist on table* ANOTHER BICON.
-Okay maybe the Vexos and the Resistance and whatever other fucking aliens they added do exist to me, I'll just ignore their entire storyline and how they fucked over my three leading ladies.
Aight that's it for now. Idk if headcanoning works the same way here as it does in the beyblade world, so if you're upset by me making them autistic and gay, I offer you my sincerest eat my ass.

Horror lit? October reading?
Hmm. Unfortunately I'm not a widely read in terms of horror lit. (If you see this post and have recommendations, comment below!) Although 80% of what I mentioned in the previous ask applies.
In particular I'd have to really double down on my Ligotti recommendation. "Alice's Last Adventure" takes place on Halloween and captures the autumn mood perfectly, "The Lost Art of Twilight" is a variation on vampires that had me uneasy from beginning to end and "The Last Feast of Harlequin" is some great modern riffing on Lovecraftian tropes. Not that I'd have any experience doing this, but if, for example, you have a bullshit job that leaves you with hours a day in front of a computer monitor with nothing meaningful to do it would, potentially, not be difficult to find a pdf or epub of his work and read through it to pass the time as the holidays approach. Legally speaking, I have never done this.
The Turn of the Screw is great if you can handle something a bit older. For all the fin de siècle formality of its prose it still has an immediacy and heft to it. There's a scene in it that I distinctly remember being the closest thing I've ever felt to a jump scare in written media. Really good stuff.
Prayers to Broken Stones is a collection of Dan Simmons' early short fiction that's pretty horror-heavy. Now it's been over a decade since I read it, but I remember liking it quite a bit. My brother read it more recently and says it still holds up. (Not really relevant, but people don't really talk enough about how Simmons' pivoted to climate change denial or how when his website was still online the forums were an active area for MAGA shitheads to congregate. Weird stuff, crazy to think he's the same guy that wrote "Remembering Siri.")
Not strictly horror, but The Gunslinger is the only thing I've ever read by Stephen King that I really liked. It's hard to categorize but it's short, sweet, and spooky. I tried reading the sequel but got so bored so fast. Maybe I'll give the series another shot some day, because it really did feel like the beginning of something great.
As for just general October reading... I don't know? I always get nostalgic in October. IDK, somehow Halloween feels like the only thing that stays the same as I get older. Read something you loved as a kid that makes you feel cozy. For me that's Calvin & Hobbes or Expedition or The Neverending Story... Nothing quite like putting on a sweater, making yourself a cup of tea, and curling up underneath a lamp with a book you've read a million times. Turn off your phone, throw it across the room, turn off every screen in your house, let the only sound you hear be rain on your window or wind down the street. Perfection.

Armand's little celebratory smirk after Daniel said the line has been rotating in my brain since Saturday
Tumblr media
i've been thinking about that infamous Alice theory, still doesn't make any sense to me. there has to be documentation? Daniel is a known person, i'm just ??? also, why bother and go for such drastic measures? why change one memory for the another, and not just erase it like the attack?
the main arguments from 2×02 being: — 70s flashback — 'You feel freer to hold her hand in Paris. I wonder why that is' line
already wrote about the 2×02 flashback above, but have more thoughts. it's not just a random recollection. In it, Armand violates Daniel's mind, just like Louis in the present.
Armand or Louis? (they're working together now, remember?) uses this technique again to unsettle and control Daniel, so the interview flows in its intended direction. basically pulled the rug under Daniel's feel to reinforce Louis' attack. total disorientation, submission, and defeat. Louis calls him 'Danny', he's still there, their boy. but it's also a reminder. they had literally discussed this at the end of 2×01 episode. nice job boys, 1-1
in s1, the flashback was also frightening and disorienting, but the reasoning behind it felt a bit different, leaning towards distraction (also control). Personally, i think that Armand had used distraction through s1, but ended the season with intimidation.
For example: Armand drops the 'electronic mailbox', leads Dan to the library, hits with 'we suggest' instead of I or he, then interrupts Daniel's investigation with music/prayer. what happens next? Daniel's focus is no longer on Claudia's diaries, he's distracted by Rashid. especially by Armand's misstep? 'electronic mailbox'.
after s1 70s flashback, Daniel gets so agitated by this sudden memory he's not sure if it's real or just a dream, he can barely focus on Louis. instead, yep, he's distracted by Rashid and the unsteady ground that is his past. perfect, the interview is disrupted! Armand even has his little demonstration, walking in front of the sun with Dr. Fareed (love how Armand checks on Daniel to make sure he saw it, extra), teasing Dan with the phone call. yes, look at me! Louis is the one to pull Dan's attention back to the interview. (Armand acted alone?)
Armand had to change tactics since he got unveiled. besides, distraction isn't effective, it just simply doesn't work for long. it slows the process and fuels Daniel even more. not saying that aggression will, that man is beyond help. from the teasers we know that Daniel is clearly aware of the situation 'to get out of there alive', and also begs Louis to help him remember what had happened to them in the 70s 'for me' yet another danlou parallel 😭
plan B. loumand work together. Armand with the starting point, 'It's Alice, Louis, not Claudia.' Louis follows. notice how Armand doesn't say a word after that? his job is done. for now. fishing rod in the head. Armand casts out, Louis reels in. idk if i'm using these terms correctly, had to look it up lol
love how they straight up threaten Dan at the end lol Louis: 'Would you like to know what she thinks of you now? If she thinks of you now? We could do that.' Armand: 'Or we could simply return to the interview.' be professional Daniel, you got way too comfortable, or we'll be mean about your ex and 70s attack/memory loss. you know, things you're sensitive about.
good cop bad cop manipulation on Dan at the end? did i just witness these old ass vamps call Dan a misogynist?
we're only two eps in so I'm focusing on the result of these flashbacks rn. trying to figure out the meaning can be misleading, but what do i know this is nonsense
---
about the 'You feel freer to hold her hand in Paris. I wonder why that is' line. i'm bad at interpreting shit tbh, especially with hidden meanings, symbolism, metaphors, etc. i struggle with my brain taking things, if they're not obvious, too literally, no matter how hard i try
maybe Alice is not white (could parallel the beginning of the episode). or Paris is the city of love, where being affectionate on public is okay for men like Daniel. still thinking about its meaning tbh. misogyny is def in the room with us
p.s. about the eyebrow thing. guys, Daniel was literally talking about Louis 😭lou
has anyone made a // between 1x05 and 2x02?
Daniel disrespects and aggressively violates Louis' boundaries. He mocks Louis' memories and his will to protect them. Understandably, Louis lashes back. Both times, Armand interferes (because he saves Louis from himself). This time Louis even haunts Daniel with a 70s flashback, because as we know, it was a very traumatic moment of Daniel's life. And the fact that he doesn't remember it, makes it even more frightening and upsetting.
I don't think it was about devil's minion, or Alice. Just the most pain inducing moments of Daniel's life. These two keep digging fingers into each other's wounds, almost like s- *gunshot*

peyt’s top 10 albums released in 2022
this list was genuinely SO hard to put together!! i feel like every artist i love dropped new music this year thanks to all the studio time they had during the first couple years of the pandemic. sorry to all the great albums that didn’t make the cut - it’s not you, it’s me. 🫠
these are absolutely NOT in order because that would be an impossible task. and now, without further ado, i’ll put my rambling below:
1. give me the future + dreams of the past by bastille
i’m sure no one is surprised to see this one on my list. if you ARE surprised then idk what to tell you. this album was so surprising and different in the best way, especially after how meh i felt about doom days when it was released. thank you for the futuristic grooves mr. dan bastille!!!
top 3: stay awake?, revolution, hope for the future
2. s.i.d.e.s. by alice merton
alice was hands down the best discovery i made this year (thank you again mr. dan bastille). and just in time for her sophomore album!! it’s hard to pinpoint what really makes this album a standout for me. it honestly has it all: great vocals, honest lyrics, catchy hooks. plus alice is just so humble and so cool. how can you not like her?
top 3: future, mania, same team
3. crash by charli xcx
when crash came out, my friend was insistent i listen to it because it was “the best pop album since future nostalgia.” honestly? she was right. this is easily charli’s magnum opus. it’s so good.
top 3: good ones, constant repeat, yuck
4. 5sos5 by 5 seconds of summer
as soon as they released me myself & i as a single i knew this album was going to be It. truly their best work. one of the best parts of listening to 5sos over the years has been hearing their sound mature and this album feels like the culmination of that maturation.
top 3: me myself & i, bad omens, carousel
5. five seconds flat by lizzy mcalpine
every single song on this record feels like a hammer straight to the chest. lizzy’s lyrics are some of the best stuff i’ve heard in ages. this has to be not just one of the best albums on my list but objectively one of the best albums of the year period.
top 3: erase me, doomsday, all my ghosts
6. conditions of a punk by half•alive
they dropped half of this album back in february as give me your shoulders pt. i and at the time i was fully ready to stick that on my “best of” list - then the rest of the album came out just this month. no one is doing it like half alive. no one. they are so singularly themselves in their sound, their lyrics, and their live performances/visuals. i can’t believe they’re not being hailed as geniuses by music critics everywhere.
top 3: hot tea, nobody, make of it
7. the loneliest time by carly rae jepsen
queen carly hath returned!! once again she has crafted the perfect pop record. listen - i know i’m aromantic but this woman’s music just makes me want to be in love sooooooo bad.
top 3: beach house, anxious, talking to yourself
8. faith in the future by louis tomlinson
the main takeaway from this album is that louis really was the heart and soul of 1d’s songwriting in the later years. his sound on this record is so reminiscent of midnight memories in the best way. this is what i was hoping his debut would sound like - and while walls didn’t quite make the mark, this record most definitely did.
top 3: holding on to heartache, common people, lucky again
9. apocalypse whenever by bad suns
this record is light and fun and i love it. no thoughts just bops. while i do miss bad suns’ language & perspective era grittiness, i dig their newer sound just as much.
top 3: life was easier when i only cared about me, when the world was mine, peachy
10. cleanse by joywave
a perfect transition from possession at the start of the pandemic to now. i knew this record would be great when they dropped the every window is a mirror EP last year and “after coffee” took over my life. and i was right!!
top 3: after coffee, cyn city 2000, buy american
other solid albums that ~just~ missed out on my list:
girl of my dreams by fletcher
stick season by noah kahan
emails i can’t send by sabrina carpenter
midnights by taylor swift
sonder by dermot kennedy
what a most excellent year for music! thanks, 2022!

Okay hatchetfield zombie apocalypse au bc why not ("but tgwdlm is a zombie apocalypse" shh no that's an alien musical apotheosis and also this is won't be the exact same as tgwdlm)
This ended up being way longer than I thought it would and also kinda ramblely (is that a word??) oops. So read the rest under the cut
Okay this takes place in 2019
Emma and Paul are together, emam ofc suggests they going to her cooky reclusive biology professor
This isn't the apocalypse Henry excepted and he doesn't like that, but hey he still prepped for an apocalypse so he's safe
Since this isn't a musical apocalypse and it'd probably be pretty hard to get money off of someone during a zombie apocalypse, so he's currently not trying to murder anyone
He let's Emma and Paul stay with him
But then Emma is like "hey you have room do you think my nephew, brother in law and his gf could stay with us? The gf's a nurse she could be helpful!!"
He eventually agrees
Then Paul's like "hey my coworkers are kid dumb asses there's know way they're surviving an apocalypse on their own can they stay with us? And also one of them has daughter and the other has a little brother (cough cough HCB) them too?"
And then Hidgens ends up agreeing to that, and then Alice and HCB are ofc both like "wait hold on our friends-" (ie: Deb, Ziggs, Grace Chasity (this would be HCB's friends not Alice's ofc), Cineplex kid (because I said so) Ethan (also Tony, my beloved) Lex and Hannah (once again, because I said so, do we seem them interact? No, but they're friends now)
And Hidgens at this point is like "well fucking fine I guess so! Bring em here we have a bunch of ppl already so why not!!"
All of these people, living under one roof (albeit a very big roof) is ofc chaos!
I'd imagine ppl kinda stay in groups a bit tho. Like the teens stay with each other for the most part. CCRP gang hangs out together most. Ect.
Still, very chaotic. The teens (really mostly Deb, Ethan and Lex) causing plenty of trouble. The adults all being dumb asses. Plenty of arguments between Bill and Ted ofc. And probably several arguments between the nerdy prudes (grace, hcb and cineplex) and the other teens. Probably one fight between Alice and Ziggs but it gets settled quickly and they figure everything out and clear the air and become good friends.
I mean you think this amount of ppl, particularly this certain group of ppl, are going to be well organized durning the apocalypse? Hell no!
Hidgens is the only one that actually understands shit about apocalypse, he's the one who prepared! (once again: although for the wrong one) so he's constantly having to be like "no we can't do that that's dangerous!!" Emma, Alice and Lex are the only other really competent ones.
Hidgens ofc spends his time trying to find a cure, Emma helps him. If life ever goes back to normal she has an automatic A in his class for the rest of college just for going through this shit and helping him.
Tom, Bill, and Tony are the dads. They're obviously dealing with the kids. But the do mainly try and focus on their own kid because... That their kid ofc they care about them the most. But they try to take care of the other kids too.
Bill has a rough time connecting with anyone besides Alice. But Grace was always nice to him church so there's that. And ofc Alice has gf, a gf he doesn't like a ton but now he's very much stuck with so he might as well try and get along with. They eventually do.
Tom ofc like I said cares most about Tim. But after him the next he cares most about are CaliforMIA gang. Lex and Ethan were his students (I know it's not confirmed that Ethan was one of students but he is now bc I want him to be), probably his favorite students, and that Lex's little sister who's only a few years older than Tim, ofc he's also gonna care a lot about them.
Tony also cares alot about Lex and Hannah, that's his son's gf and her little sister, once again, ofc he'll care about them alot too.
Becky absolutely cares about all the kids a ton!! She's a nurse who works with kids, she's very nurturing and mother like. She cares for and about them all fairly equally but Tim is her favorite because... Well that's her bf's son and she's known him the longest out of any of the kids ofc. Lex and Hannah end up loving Becky alot because she's so much kinder and sweet than their biological mother.
Before the apocalypse Ted took care of HCB, now he's still taking care of him ofc. Ted doesn't want to be taking care of any of the kids besides his brother. He wants to drink and party and stuff. I mean it's the apocalypse so why not? But he ends up taking care of Grace and Cineplex quite a bit too. This happens not bc others aren't taking care of them, they are being taken by the other plenty well (like I said the dads and Becky all care for all the kids they just have favorites) but because they see HCB going to Ted for almost everything and Ted doing stuff for/helping out HCB so they're like "well okay guess we'll go to him too" He's not happy about it. He already has to deal with his obnoxious little nerdy prude bother and now there's two more? But part of them reminds him a lot of himself when he was younger. Maybe that's why he doesn't like them, or also maybe that's why secretly likes them a ton?
Hidgens, Emma, Ted, Tom and Lex are the ones that go out most often because they're the only who are really able to fight off the zombies and stay safe a stuff (okay Ted not so much as the others but they bring him anwyay cause Henry's like "he looks like he can use gun or something" and Emma, Paul, Bill and Charlotte are all like "this is a horrible idea don't bring him" but they do anwyay. He doesn't kill any of the others so hey why not keep bringing him? Besides if something goes wrong they can use him as bait or throw him to the zombies to get them off the rest of the group /hj)
Other ppl in Hatchetfield exist of course and are out they're trying to survive. Sam and Pamela are some of the first to die that's karma bitch
Lex and Hannah were living with Pamela ofc when the apocalypse hit, the girls wanted to go somewhere safer but Pam wouldn't let them, then one day she went out and got turned into a Zombie, the girls quickly took that as their chance to escape and they went to Tony and Ethan and then ofc ended up at Hidgens'
Charlotte was with Sam before he turned into a Zombie and then when he did she ran to Ted & HCB and stayed with them before they ended up at Hidgens'
Gary and MIAH are together and trying to survive on they're own. Sylvia, Melissa, and Greenpeace Girl end up meeting each other and decide to gang up together and they're badasses. Dan and Donna are two focused on the news and finding out if Peanuts is surving (which yes, Peanuts, (as well as Papa Ed.. At least for a while) are doing fine) and they die pretty quickly. Holloway and Duke are doing great, Holloway's a witch so yeah she's good and ofc Duke is with her so he's good too.
Lucy is in Hatchetfield and she's already in the woods vibing with Chumby before the apocalypse hits (THAM doesn't happen in this universe and instead Lucy ends up finding Chumby own her own because uh??? Reasons??? Idk bc I said so) the two of them have no idea there's a zombie apocalypse. The Paul clones take this apocalypse as they're chance to escape, Paul23 leading the uprising ofc, they don't kill Paul and take his place tho, instead it's more like "there's a zombie apocalypse? Oh fuck yeah!" *escapes* "oh theres a zombie apocalypse oh no-" some try to stay in a group and live together, some try to go out their own. There's now a bunch of random Pauls and Paul zombies around town. The main gang do end up seeing the clones and they're all just kind like "uhhh wtf???" except Paul, he's absolutely freaking out, the clones kinda are just "uhh haha how do we explain this".
Spoiler alert: the world isn't destroyed. How? Not totally sure yet but probably through Hidgens managing to find a cure and time travel. Emdriod has traveled back in time to replace Emma, but oopsie she didn't travel back far enough so she can't kill Emma in Guatemala, so she goes to Hatchetfield in hopes she can kill Emma when no ones looking and just replace her then, but oh no there's apocalypse so thats a much bigger issue. She survives easily, she's strong af, doesn't need food, all that jazz. She and Emma do meet each other and it's another "wtf?" "how do I explain this?" situation. But Emdriod lies ofc and kinda explains what happened but said that she accidentally time travelled and leaves out the whole wanted to kill her part. Now the Emdriod has found Emma she does try to kill her, that's awfully hard to do tho considering Emma is literally always with a group of people, and Emdriod doesn't want to just kill Emma right in front of everyone bc then they'll all hate her and her goal isn't to just kill Emma it's too replace her. She end up giving up and she runs into Paul 23 and they bond of my doubles of someone and wanted to kill that somoen at first and then fall in love and kill zombies together :)
Ohh uhh other ships: Paulkins, Lexthan, Barneston, Potseed (Alice x Deb) ofc. Charted, Obnoxious Teens (HCB x Cineplex Kid) oh and ofc Holloduke. Uhh Bill x being okay for once, Ted x probably not dying for once (not too sure about that one yet) Hidgens x not actually trying to murder someone for once
Wait wait I just got idea: the zombie apocalypse occurs BECAUSE of Hidgens, he tries too bring back the working boys (remember his original backstory with accidentally killing them and stuff??)
Okay I think that's all I got for now

aka things i’m too lazy to write nicely:
outside of work we’re at each others throats but somehow an absolute ace team on missions
currently desperate for a vibe akin to ‘i thought i was your darling back then, always cared for, always protected’ only for contact to cease in the 3 year gap despite anezka’s initial attempts to reach out. now y’all are back and she is so Angy that she got played/you didnt care enough to care in the distance/whatever. the reason for silence couldve been anything from genuine apathy to shit going down behind the scenes
idc how just give me that scene in skyfall where moneypenny shaves bond
some sort of alice (of wonderland infamy) / caterpillar vibes or alice / white rabbit vibes. is anezka always alice? definitely not.
anything that involves her altering memory: willingly or otherwise
had a one night stand yet this muse didn’t pick up nez’s call the next time and she’s still not over it. she’s either mean about it or trying to win you back
you exclusively come to visit nez when you’re drunk/high so you can be on her strange dream girl level. laying on the ground being passed fruit to keep u from gettin too fucked up
“is this love?” “love is for children. i owe him a debt.”
the classic “i got fucked up and require stitches and either caladrius isn’t available or you’re more tender when you patch me up albeit it’s a bit wonky and one time you wan’t to put your name in the stitching like embroidery but whatever”
the dorothy to her bitchy glinda the good witch
we ran into each other randomly in the break up years and despite there being nothing between us back then we ended up sleeping together that night
the wicked witch of the west to her bitchy glinda the good witch (frenemies but make them Similar?)
will they won’t they hateship/flirtationship "i hate u sm” “hate u more” ( grace kelly vc: “if your opinion is as rude as your manner i dont think i care to hear it” vs. john bender “sweets you couldn’t ignore me if you tried” ) while the group is “just go fuck and get it over with already”
“if you were mine i wouldnt have let you go” “i wouldnt have asked your permission”
being the naked window neighbour is so much responsibility *sigh* (idk either straight up titillation or give me rear window. give me erotic w a tint of thrill/danger/manipulation/malice)
amy and nick dunne energy
i would make an excellent goon. i’d like “on it boss” and then i’d fuck it up immediately ( x )
steely dan vc: i’m a fool to do your dirty work, i don’t want to do your dirty work no moooore
a version of THAT scene from euphoria

Idk if this is your thing, so feel free to ignore, but I must ask: if you had full creative control of the show, how would you run season 5? You can pick and choose whatever leaks you want to include.
Hi love! you are right and this is definitely not my thing but i would do anything for you! (not in a creepy way. i just really like you and am in awe of whatever you do) Thanks for sending this in <3 i am sorry if this is late, i kind of had to get over the initial shock of receiving one of these. Enough with the self loathing, moving on
For the resolution of whatever happened in 4x17, 4x18, i am going to go with the brilliant theory that @sullypants came up with because it ties up a lot of loose ends very well and gives us a cleaner canvas to work with post time jump.
However, i would like the time jump plot device and also to see the core four take different paths because that would help them grow and mature(yes i know they can grow together but i am not eloquent enough to explain why they need to go different directions kay? They just do.) for that to happen, the fact that charles has been hypnotizing betty comes into light post time jump after the whole fallout.
So post seven year time jump,
Jughead: i think there are two ways in which the fandom interprets jughead (one is the southside serpents jughead, the serpent king one, who lives in the moment and is more about the collective belonging thing and the other is s1/prep school jughead who is more ambition driven and less about fitting in). Subjectively speaking, i think jughead would go on to pay his full attention to finishing his novel after his breakup with betty as he is overcome with self doubt and long distance (very Dan Humphrey in s6 but def not as vindictive). The novel helps him sort out his emotions and is his attempt to move on from his “old life”.(his book is titled closure) He tries to find love and after a few failed attempts he meets jessica who is the complete opposite of betty. But jughead finds himself comparing her with betty almost constantly and old feelings resurface. *dun dun dun* also definitely defenestrating the alcoholic plotline until and unless we consider charles long distance hypnotizing jughead??
Betty: betty tries to sort out her feelings for archie and doesn’t wholly understand what made her kiss him. It's almost as if she blacked out(eyes emoji). Hence, bland musty flour barchie doesn't happen. betty excels academically and gets recruited by the FBI. she also returns home every thanksgiving (not christmas because she likes staying cooped up alone and eating chinese, don't ask me why. I am projecting) and everytime she returns, she hopes she’ll get to see jughead but she never really does. However betty makes amends with veronica after a lot of discussions and promises and one very emotional sleepover later. Betty is probably dating a fellow fed (who she meets while sneaking into the file cabinet to work on one of the “unsolved” cases and gets caught by him).
Veronica: veronica and archie breakup after prom and she heads out for college the next day to her ivy league college and excels at it. veronica is DEFINITELY not married. She has her own very successful business and is pretty stable and happy being single and having a few flings with some men (and women). She probably returns to riverdale on the occasion of thanksgiving when she stumbles across very successful business man Reggie and they bond over whatever people who run businesses bond over.
Archie: archie too doesnt understand what made him kiss betty but meets a therapist at pops who explains it was his PTSD etc etc. archie joins the army on accident instead of the naval academy. (again, idk why) and is “best friends” with another fellow veteran who saved him from getting shot during [insert something that army does and involves shooting]. They return home together for thanksgiving to surprise mary and her wife but discover that they are away. So archie asks his “friend” to live with him for the weekend. (WINK WINK) BI ARCHIE ENTER.
As for cheryl and toni, i think they will breakup when toni realises that she can do much better than cheryl and not get gaslighted by her girlfriend. Social worker Toni moves in with married kevin/fangs and agrees to be the surrogate for their baby. Cheer coach Cheryl (side gig tarot reader) has a fling with tabitha and learns the meaning of “no”
and for the mystery plot, they are all back home for thanksgiving when betty finds charles’ old FBI files while cleaning out and figures out the whole (charles-hypnotised-betty-and-messed-with-her-childhood-memories) and discovers that yoga instructor alice has not seen polly or her twins. Betty and jughead try to track down charles together(!) and gratuitous amounts of pining ensue (lots of lingering eye contact across pops, jealous milkshake sipping and oops! we touched and oops i fell on ur lips and now i can’t get back up). we discover that jughead’s girlfriend broke up with him before he came to riverdale and also betty’s fed boyfriend is actually her fed bestfriend and betty was a beard(everyone is gay here except bughead kay?) and wham! they do the devil’s tango because patience is for suckers.
Anyways, we learn charles has hypnotized the twins somehow and drives a haunted truck thing called the mothman because of it’s red headlights and someone finds polly’s body in the middle of the road but in a twist of plot that surprises no one that polly isn’t actually dead but is hiding out in the fuckbunker where bughead (obviously) find her. And the core four get involved somehow and they take down charles and maybe gets beaten down by jughead “knuckle brass” jones which are actually betty’s knuckle brasses.
That’s about it. Short and sweet.

Is Alice aware of Dan in her body or...?
Because I just pictured her bonding with the saved Bakugans and having a brawl or two with other people thanks to Dan.
idk im losing a bit of my understanding of how this works lmao im just assuming that if dan takes off his masquerade mask, alice will take over. though he should be able to umm take control over her again if he wants to ig.

30 Questions About Me
THANKS FOR THE TAG @bugaboo-n-bananoir ILY!!!!
(Nick)name: Cadence
gender: cis female
Star sign: Pisces
Height: uhhhhh I am not sure, it’s taller than 5ft at least
Time: night! (Well I wrote most of this last night, but now it’s the evening of the next day!)
Birthday: well I’m a Pisces, so my birthday is between Feb 19th and march 20th!
Fave band/group: Pentatonix! Or For King and Country. Or the piano guys, the vitamin string quartet, Voctave.....also Phineas and the Ferbtones👌
Fave solo artists: I really like Lauren Daigle, and Jackie Evancho used to be my FAVE. Aaand idk if this counts but Michael Giacchino! love his scores, especially the score for Inside Out. There’s also this guy called Clay Kramer on YouTube who makes KK Slider covers of popular music, his stuff gives me so much seratonin😅
Song Stuck in my Head: Well I’m listening to music rn and “I’m Me” from Phineas and Ferb is on so I’ll say that! (I’ll revisit this one when I finish the list and update it with whatever song i’m listening to/is stuck in my head then) (ok the music has since been turned off and now I have “Status Quo” from High School Musical stuck in my head so! There ya go!) (now it is the next day, and I’ve got “when the party’s over” stuck in my head...i think these three songs are an accurate reflection of my taste in music🤣)
Last Movie: uhhhhh oh yeah, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice! It was SO GREAT because Jay Baruchel plays the main character (and the main character is super awkward), so I felt like I was watching Hiccup from the How To Train Your Dragon franchise learn magic and it was GLORIOUS. And also Nicholas Cage is great. And I liked the love interest in the movie as well!! She had a role to play in the story and felt authentic and genuine, which I appreciated!
Last Show: ok well the last show I watched by myself was Phineas and Ferb! Specifically, the episode with the Mardi Gras block party and then the one where Candace and Stacy compete in an obstacle course against Isabella and Ginger (omg wAIT ginger and Stacy are sisters and Isabella and Candace are GOING to be sisters mY HEART I—AH🥺). I hadn’t watched those episodes in forever, so they were really fun to revisit! I think the last actual show I watched was Kids Baking Championship or something, lol. (Those kids are AMAZING. So skilled!)
When i created this blog: November 2019! It was riiiight after the season 3 finale of miraculous aired and absolutely wrecked my emotions. I had some fanfic written that I’d never posted and had been thinking about making a tumblr/ao3 for awhile, and seeing the finale made me finally go, “.....you know what, yeah. The finale is aired, no more spoilers.....it’s time to make a blog.” So I did! And I posted my first fic! And I’m so happy i did :)
What Do I Post: a bunch of multi fandom stuff XD. This blog started off as 90% Miraculous, 10% other fandoms I like...but now it’s just kind of a hodgepoge of my favorite fandoms (with a focus on Phineas and Ferb, lol). I reblog a lot of posts, and then I post original stuff too! I write fanfic, nowadays for Phineas and Ferb but for Miraculous in the past (and probably in the future!), I draw art (mostly Phinabella art because I’ve been drawing them since i was 11 and it feels good to return to my roots), and OCCASIONALLY I will write an analysis post (I’ve got one in the works rn actually 👀), attempt to make a meme, or dip my toe into salt just SLIGHTLY before quickly backing away, lol. If I were to list the fandoms I post about in the order of how frequently I post about them, I’d probably say: Phineas and Ferb, Miraculous....and thennnnn everything else is pretty random and depends on the day, lol.
Last thing i googled: Jay Baruchel 😂. Couldn’t remember how to spell his last name!
Other blogs: this is my only blog! Sometimes I think about making a separate blog for my art and writing, but I am not sure if I should or not....maybe I will someday, but idk. I also have an AO3 for fanfic and an Instagram for art! All are under the name “authenticcadence18.”
Do I get asks: sometimes, yeah!! Sometimes I reblog ask games/prompts and get some asks for those (I’ve got so many prompts in my inbox I want to write/draw things for...ah it’s fine, I’ll get to it eventually😅), and sometimes lovely people will leave thoughts or nice messages in my inbox🥺💕. I’ve got a specific tag for all those nice messages so I can read back over them whenever I need a boost!
Why this url: it’s a music pun! When a song/section of a piece of music ends with a dominant chord resolving to a tonic chord (if you’ve read a certain fic of mine you should know allll about dominant and tonic chords👀🤣), it’s called an authentic cadence! There are different kinds of cadences, and authentic ones are my favorite. One example of this is “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” I also use this blog to be my authentic, fandom-loving self! So I like authentic cadences, and also, I’m Cadence and using this blog to be authentic! Woo! (And 18 is just my favorite number, lol) I’m glad I ended up choosing a name that doesn’t tie to a specific fandom becaaaaaause this ended up being a multi fandom blog!

Average amount of sleep: wellllll for the past week and a half I was sick so I was probably getting 9ish hours a night (because I would sleep in really late, lol). but NOW? In my immediate future? I suspect my average amount of sleep is going to go down because I’m really bad about staying up late even when I have to get up early😅. Hoping to be good about getting at least 7ish hours a night!
Lucky number: 18! But y’all probably already guessed that, lol.
Instruments: my voice, piano, ukulele, viola (but it’s been a HOT minute), aaaand i used to be able to play guitar but then I got a ukulele and forgot all the guitar chords. (I also dabble in songwriting! I primarily use voice and piano when writing music.)
What I’m wearing: my favorite sweatshirt (that was last night, rn I have on a tanktop), some leggings, and socks!
Dream job: I’m currently learning to be a teacher, and I LOVE teaching and working with kids so that is definitely a job I’m really excited about!!! I would also love to portray characters at Disney or something (well, maybe not at Disney because I hear they’re strict, but like....I want to be Rapunzel or Anna or something, that would be so fun). OR, I would LOVE to work in tv animation somehow, be it voice acting, writing scripts/music, and/or story boarding. basically if I could do what Dan and Swampy did for Phineas and Ferb/Milo Murphy’s Law, I would LOVE THAT. (Especially the writing music part. Getting to write music for established characters and get PAID for it would be SO COOL.!.!.!) Also I think it would be so fun to write Disney storybooks! Like, those books that are about Cinderella baking a cake or Ariel befriending a seahorse, stuff like that. Those brought me a ton of joy as a child!
Dream trip: I want to visit alllll the Disney parks someday😅. (Not right now because, ya know, Covid...but someday!)
Fave food: uhhh i really like pizza. And popcorn. Also hummus and guacamole!
nationality: American
Fave songs: “Times” by Tenth Avenue North; “Can’t Help Falling in Love” (I made an entire playlist of just this song when I first started writing my fic of the same name, so I like the original and a ton of covers of it!), “Show Yourself” from Frozen II, “What Might Have Been” from Phineas and Ferb (and lots of other songs from that show, i made a whole post about that once but I can’t find it, oof); “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle; “Thank You” by Pentatonix; “I See the Light” from Tangled; “Your Hands” by JJ Heller; “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran.....i like a loooot of songs so this is just the tip of the iceberg, but I think that’s good for now, LOL! (As soon as I post this I’m going to remember another song I love, lol)
last book: I got the book Unbirthday for Christmas! It’s basically Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, but if she’d never gone to wonderland and things went horribly wrong there. (I think, I’m not that far into it yet, lol)
Top 3 fictional universes I’d love to live in: 1. DANVILLE, PLS. Especially as a kid, I SO would’ve loved to hang out with Isabella and Phineas and the rest of the gang! Danville is so vibrant and unique and people are always randomly breaking into song there, that’s my kind of place! 2. Fairytopia (from the Barbie movies!) because I could be a fairy OR a mermaid OR BOTH and eat seeweed to breathe underwater even if I wasn’t a mermaid. Like, that’s the dream right there. (I’ve always loved mermaids and fairies, lol!) 3. Maybe San Fransokyo from Big Hero 6? All of the technology in that universe is really cool! And I would love to eat a noodle burger, lol .
Oh! That’s the last one! Wow! This was so FUN!!!!!!! Thanks again for the tag, Maddy!!!! :)
I’ll taaaag @sketchy-panda @macaronsforchat @simplynewyorkbound @inkjackets and anyone else who’d like to do this! (And pls don’t feel pressured to play at all, or answer all of the questions! I was definitely vague with a few of my answers, lol)
