It is not arrogance Dan Heng admits he is strong. He is well-aware of his strength, but he is terrified of the power within him. A magic so vast it can command the seas and rain down destruction; flooding the battlefields and reduce it to nothing. The gift of his lineage that Dan Heng prays it remains unused for a long time.

So Dan Heng ignores it as long as he can, preferring to rely on his spear and beckon the winds to his call. A branch of his main element where he is comfortable using without fear.

Without fearing he'll accidentally harm his companions, especially in a friendly spar...

He raises his spear to block the incoming attack. The circular saw blades continues their relentless strikes. Metal sparks between them causing embers to fly and highlight Himeko face. Her brows are knitted together in concentration, strong arms keeping a tight grip on her suitcase. But Dan Heng attention is caught by her eyes.

A familiar golden hue that wasn't the sun he first saw, but filled with the constellations reflected in her eyes.

Dan Heng doesn't realize his mistake until it's too late. His lapse in concentration makes his grip falter and the molecular saw climbs up rapidly. With the saw blades inches away from his face, Dan Heng breath stills as a flash of REDBLOODBLACKDEATH fills his vision.

His instincts immediately kicked in. Water surges forth out of thin air, pushing Himeko and her weapon away from him. With blood roaring in his ears, Dan Heng doesn't hear anything until the blades are away from his face. Teal eyes widened once he processed what happened now the danger is gone.

The cabin floor is soaked, and Dan Heng imagines Pom-Pom will not be pleased to see the damage. But his main concern is Himeko, who is seemingly alright as she stands up. It doesn't stop the bile rising in his throat because not only he was distracted; he also tapped into the power he loathed to use.

"I...I apologize, Miss Himeko. Are you hurt?" Dan Heng takes a step forward and reaches out. He pauses, lowering his hand and looks away in shame.

A melodious laugh eases the tension followed by a light, "Here, let's try again."

Snapping his head up, Dan Heng looks at Himeko in surprise. He is silent at first, but he asks her, "...I was careless as you saw earlier. Are you sure you want to resume this match?"

He has a split second to hastily throw up a shield before Stelle nearly decks him in the face. He makes a small meep noise, Stelle’s fist stops just centimeters away from his cheek. “Miss Stellaron!” He says with a nervous tone. 

“Please don't injure him again, Stelle,” Dan Heng says as he breezes past Stelle. 

Stelle eyes him and all he can do is hold up his hands in surrender. She’s not an Emanator but she carries a Stellaron inside of her and he knows better than to test that power, especially with his cornerstone completely gone. 

Stelle sighs. She looks at him irritated, a familiar enough expression. Everyone always looks irritated whenever he continues to survive like a cockroach. But to his surprise, she pulls him into a hug. “I’m glad you woke up,” she says quietly in his ear. 

A noise of surprise dies in his throat. His mouth dries up and his heart skips a beat. Suddenly it's like he flat footed, stepping in an unknown direction. He feels flustered, unsure what to do with this unknown feeling. Stelle’s reaction is… odd, given what he had tried to do to her. Surely being six months unconscious didn't calm her anger. Topaz and Ratio held their grudges out longer than that. Jade was never angry but she merely just congratulated him on surviving and moved on. Diamond only cared about results. 

He expected her rightfully earned anger. And she must have felt it given she tried to take a swing at him. But it fades so fast it was like she wasn't even that angry and was simply going through the motion of it. 

Not to mention she was relieved that he woke up? 

That… that was new?

To "That's Otto with his minion, the S-Rank Valkyrie Sushang! Somehow, he came back!" And taken by surprise, trying to deck them in the face.

Want to hear thoughts and ideas on characters & child!reader during the reader birthday. Who would send a birthday message? Who would wish birthday in person? Who would give a gift and what gift? who would organize a party for them?

The AE familywould throw a party for them 🥹 Welt would be very exited about decoration the whole place, March would create a program, Dan Heng would be responsible for ordering stuff (and making sure everything goes according to Match's program), Himeko would send indentations and the trailblazer would distract reader

I think Jing Yuan, Aven, Topaz, Robin, Bronya and Fu Xyan would send presents and messages but would not be able to attend since they're very busy (all feel horrible btw). All send very nice and thoughtful gifts but I feel like Aven would go overboard and buy so many toys for them, they won't be able to fit in their room.

Herta and Ruan Mei would not attend either but would send messages and Ruan Mei would even send a cake. Maybe a critter too. Screwllum would visit though!! Even if for a short while.

Stellaron Hunters, Jingliu and Luocha wouldn't be able to visit for obvious reasons, but SW would appear as a hologram. Firefly would use the fact that everyone know her as Sam to visit them in person tho. For a short while as well, due to her poor health. Would bring a cute bunny toy that reminded her of Pom Pom.

Ratio would show up for a short while and give them an encyclopedia 💀 remember the valentine event on twitter when his gift was a book like be fr there're other gifts as well

Gepard funnily took a day off just to see alnd congratulate them!! You know how it's implied that him and Sevral are lowkey competing for the position of Lynx's favourite sibling? Yeah, they would do that with reader as well. Sevral giving them a toy she created herself and Gepard awkwardly giving them flowers he grew. Lynx would give them a small camping kit

It's hard to reach Argenti so they didn't send him an invitation 😞 But he found out anyway because he's just like that. If it's possible, he'll show up to congratulate them and give them flowers. If not, he'll send a message and give them flowers next time they meet.

Yanqing would gift them a sword let's be real. And Natasha would gift a self-made toy!!

A Mundane Life is a fic series that is very very fluffy! AvenCaeTio is already an established ship with a lot of domestic fluff in the first fic with implied references to coitus.

Golden Sands by Konbini_Kitty is my favorite AvenCae fic! The way they protray the ship is really really nice! Fair warning this fic is rated M so please please please mind the tags. This fic protrays AvenCae with them as childhood friends with Aventurine finding Caelus abandoned by Elio on Sigonia! This fic also updates every couple months so it doesn’t update often.

Another Konbini_Kitty fic! New Outfit is pre-relationship fic with Caelus feeling bad about not having more outfits, and after finding out Aventurine was texting him; he decides to ask Aventurine where he can get some new outfits for himself! TLDR: Caelus gets spoiled by Aventurine

Code Blue by Monohid is about Caelus inviting Aven out to drinks so he can comfort him; in the descriptions own words “after the entire Penacony mess, Aventurine sends Caelus a whole lot of very vulnerable and surprisingly honest messages. Caelus, feeling that Aventurine might need a nice relaxing evening, invites him for drinks” It is based off of Aventurine’s text messages! Sadly the second chapter of it is not out yet.

DanCae

A Dragon’s Mark by Zaphyrus is a DanCae soulmates au! It is set during Herta Space Station, Belobog, and the Xianzhou. It is relatively fluffy but more slowburn than anything.

Secret Admier by Pharaohbean is a DanCae fic with Stelle as the TB; Stelle is in a relationship with March but that is very much a side ship. In this fic Caelus is an Emanator of Destruction and hiding it as long as possible from everyone. When Dan Heng and Caelus met it was before Dan Heng joined the AE. The fic IMO is a 10/10 but everyone has their own tastes.

Home In Your Arms by SaltedPossums is a hurt comfort fic going a bit over the fight with Cocolia, and mostly focuses on the aftermath with the fight against Cirrus. I can not express this enough with this fic but MIND THE TAGS ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THE FIC GOES OVER THE TOPIC OF DEATH

Ravager Restrained, Doubt Unchained by Riverpuppy is a fic that takes place as the aftermath of 1.2. It has Caelus going Nonverbal to be able to process everything that has happened on the Xianzhou up to that update. The fic is a hurt/comfort!

The cons of owning a warp trotter by Do_Ray_Mi is a fic in its own words “4 times Bubbles got in between Caelus and Dr.Ratio and the 1 time it brought them together” it in its tags has a lot of made up lore and honestly was a pretty funny fic. The fic is Not Rated so please mind the tags.

Alert Theory!!! Luocha

I hope everyone did their companion quest for Luocha and actually got him on the Parlor Car because otherwise this is SPOILER.

To use with caution.

So, if you went back to check the video at the Commission you will get, first of the achievement for the hidden side of Luocha, and then this scene play:

So, Luocha got his coffin at his side (how? he went back to the inn to get it?) and he is also talking to it. That should be the Ambrosial Arbor?

So, what do we know about Luocha? Not much, he is a travelling merchant, so probably has a lot of names depending on the planet to make himself look more friendly. I don't know if there is a language barrier between the different planets, but definitely there is a cultural barrier. Maybe his name is too much different from the names used on Xianzhou that he switched on a more familiar name for his clients to use while on the ship.

We know, thanks to Dan Heng's side story, that Luocha was on Cloudport after it was closed for the emergency, and after Silver Wolf hacked our way in. Dan Heng found him alongside Sushang maybe 30-45 minutes after Stelle, March and Welt departed and met Tingyun that says "nobody else should be here", so he possibly came a little after the main team but before Dan Heng. If my reasoning is correct, Luocha didn't cause the Stellaron incident, since everything was closed because of the Stellaron Incident. Kafka asked the Astral Express crew's help because the Xianzhou had a problem with the Stellaron but it wasn't their (Kafka and Blade) fault (most likely they knew that was going to be a problem and needed the AE crew to be there for all the reason to get the MC powerful enough to fight Nanook).

But why was he in front of the Arbor before it was revived with the Stellaron?

He says "yes, none of this is our concern... The journey has only just begun to-" that can be read differently if you think he did revive the Arbor or not.

He didn't revive the Arbor: Luocha being there to do something about the Arbor being revived even if the conflict between the Sanctus Medicus and Xianzhou is not his problem.

He did revive the Arbor: the conflict between the Sanctus Medicus and Xianzhou, the problem the Arbor will cause, all of this is not his concern because it's only a step for a journey that has only begun.

If we take the complete phrase, the second option is the most likely. At the beginning I was thinking he didn't revive a thing and he was most likely a red herring to point the direction of the audience elsewhere, while the culprit did everything. But I find it's unlikely for Hoyo to do so, I mean, look at Dan Heng, we speculated about him being a dragon boy because there were hints about it and if we look now at certain promo images, everything fit. And here there are hints that says the Luocha did something on or near the Ambrosial Arbor, he is hiding something inside the coffin, and he is kind of suspicious even inside the Parlor.

So, he has sensed the Stellaron in our "possession" but it's different from the others Stellaron.

First of all, I don't think Luocha is Otto or Void Archives from HI3. There would have been an hint about it in his dialogue with us on the Parlor (since Welt is there!!) but nothing. Actually he doesn't acknowledge anyone in it, until we speak to him. The others interact with Himeko and Welt in some way, Luocha doesn't. Even Welt says it's possible that he is just someone who shares the same appearance:

and we have a very present example of this: Bronya Raad and Silver Wolf. Both share the same appearance but have different ages, different experience and different lives. Himeko herself is a different version of another Himeko, Seele, Bronya, Natasha... they all are.

From what I see, Luocha is marginally involved in everything in Xianzhou, but his appearance, the fact is hiding something, especially during a time like that, make him very suspicious and this could be something that Elio and the Stellaron Hunters are using at their advantage. He is also very powerful and most likely an ally than an enemy.

Basically my theory is that Luocha is a Red Herring, one crafted by the story so that we can focus on him and not on someone else. He is definitely hiding something but it's not related to this Stellaron Crisis. He managed to gain Dan Heng's trust so he was invited to the Astral Express (I absolutely think that The Astral Express got a consciousness and physically can stop people from accessing without an invite, different problem is when they are not physically there, like Kafka and Silver Wolf's hacking, or the Messenger for the Forgotten Memories) but he won't interact with anyone on his own.

What do you think? Is Luocha involved with this crisis or has a bad timing?

I kinda wanna know, since this is my first time following a Hoyo-game. How oes everyone feel about Penacony to date?

I feel it gave a lot of cool stuff, and that they wanted to do more but cut itself short so that it didn't overstay its welcome, and that kinda hurt itself in some ways.

I only say this from a place of love, but:

Personally, I feel a bit disappointed by the scale of the adventure given everything that this was hyped up to be, but this is also my first time following a live service game for the story.

I feel like the time that was granted for the story to really cement itself as something on the same scale of Belobog and Xianzhou were there but not adequately utilized, IMO. And not in stakes, but in present themes that tie specifically back to the Trailblazers, which, as functionally our main cast, was the weakest part of Penacony for me. And I eat up whatever's put in front of me for the most part.

Which sucks because the secondary objective besides the Charmony Festival was to get a better feel for the legacies left behind by the Trailblaze. And like, it's propped up as this false mystery which is odd because this feels like things that the Astral Express' records should at bare minimum have on Penacony for it to be so popular. Like it would be one thing if the AE wasn't there for the war, but they were?? And they didn't leave 'til the fighting was done?? So even if the details were hazy, I feel like we should still know more about it.

Like legit, I... don't really know anything about Mikhail really. Like sure, we know the synopsis and see what others felt about him, but WE are never really given the same chance to feel the same about him. His words aren't given the chance to hit as hard, in my opinion. It feels emptier than I wish it did. I WANT to feel excited to put on the hat, but it never had the chance to take me there. And worst of all, I can't even remember the other two Nameless' names. It hurts man.

Seeing Welt and Acheron do things and talk was cool, but not for any of the reasons that have to do with Honkai Star Rail™. That comes from me learning about all the cool shit from HI3. And Aventurine's story is dope, I think it's solid. But I don't think it should have been the main story update. That shit should have been a companion quest to help set up everything that's going to go down with Jade because that's what that was.

I like his character much more after it, but not enough to say that I'm happy with how little time I got with the Trailblazers this World for a story that was supposed to recenter the Trailblaze's influence on the wider world of HSR and finishing fight for him.

I haven't done the additional story stuff yet so I might get some details there but it seems like HSR is sorta quick on the draw with its potentially heaviest story beats (ie. Dan Heng and the Xianzhou was revealed waaaayyyy too fuckin' early) to a premature degree.

1) Reading Time (Study Sessions)

Whenever Hook stays on the Astral Express, Dan Heng already knows when she'll drop by the Archives to borrow a book or two to read. He has several books ready that are suitable for a child at Hook age to read and easy to understand. It definitely evolved into a study session where Dan Heng doesn't mind reading a book outloud to help Hook understand how to pronounce the words and learn the terms. Any questions she had, Cold Young Dragon is ready to answer them. C:

2) "World Domination Team" (Adventures)

Dan Heng is now an honory member of Hook World Domination Team (The Moles). What do they do? Anything Hook wants to do which includes:

Helping the residents of the Underground.

Playing hide and seek with The Moles.

Earning their candy money (by helping people).

Playing Aetherium Wars.

Teaching The Moles (and other kids) how to read and write.

Collecting "treasure" outside of towns (under Dan Heng diligent supervision so Hook and the kids don't get hurt AND they don't go near any monsters).

3) Dan Heng Vidydhara Form

When Dan Heng is comfortable enough to shift into his IL form, he can be found napping in his room. :D Like super cute sleepy dude hugging his pillow and tail curled around him. That's how Hook found him in one of her visits to see him.

If she's like super cool with it and excited to see more, Dan Heng doesn't mind keeping the horns and tail out. In fact, he lets Hook (and Bailu/others) take a nap on his tail. He'll even create mini water creatures and flowers to entertain Hook too. :3

4) Souvenirs

For Hook, Dan Heng usually brings her candy from the other planets the AE visits. Well, enough candy for her to share and more if she wanted to. Sometimes, he'll even bring a toy or trinkets for her that is entertaining for kids at her age.

But what makes the souvenirs extra special are the stories Dan Heng (and Astral Express) brings whenever he visits Hook after visiting other planets. He won't go into the dark/gory details since Hook is still too young for that. At best he'll censor it or exaggerate it into something more light-hearted. The point of the stories are the joys of adventure, like the fairy tales of Heroe's going on a journey!

What have we learned?

Hmmm so I favor with prose over dialogue for my first sentence. Typically I lean towards (hopefully) strong line to set the vibe/theme. Especially when it's to show what's different than other fics (i.e. using legends' first line tells you that JY is now living on AE or Cold Burning's first line tells you Blade is a General in this AU not a Stellaron Hunter.) Or sometimes a running joke. (i.e. Himeko is never having a good time in the stars don't shine, they burn.)

It's usually not a description of the scenery unless it's unusual scenery (i.e. Before Dawn)

While I'm still waiting for Penacony, I want to try and start planning which designs I should try and tackle in terms of doing my own spin on things for them/what I would change put into an actual design so

Not putting Welt in this solely because I don't currently have any meaningful changes in mind as I need to dive deeper into his lore plus I just already love his design so one of those four instead

in a flash of inspiration, a fun little idea came to me– A HSR Astral Express AU, featuring some Honkai 3rd characters!

Because im posting such a rough early sketch (doesnt even have faces drawn in yet) im not tagging it, plus its intended more for me to write down my thoughts to save for later

but for anyone who actually manages to see this post and is genuinely curious, this is what i came up with so far:

The “protagonist” (if it were a literal 1-to-1 replacement with the canon AE crew) would be Entropy (aka Dreamseeker), the Honkai 3rd Part 2 protag; paired with her is her wife i mean, her “roommate” Senadina

I started with that, and then I tried to think of who the navigator would be. For that i came up with Vita- partially because im insanely biased towards her, but also partially cause i think she’d genuinely fit the role of navigator, lol

Then to fill in a couple more spots i came up with Griseo & Kosma, specifically a made-up teen Griseo between her canonical child & adult appearances along with a slightly older Kosma

With that cast we have someone from each of the three worlds of Sol that have (or had) civilization: Purusha (Venus), Earth, and Luoxing (Mars)

So I had an idea– what if the Astral Express crashed on Purusha (instead of canonically crashing on HSR Himeko’s world) and Vita was the one that fixed it up? Then she gathered the rest of the crew from Earth & Luoxing, and they set off to see the rest of the HSR setting!

Though since these characters in HI3rd canon are chronology separated by literally hundreds of millions of years, id have to squish the timeline and make the three planets all habitable at the same time, though in a silly fanmade AU like this, that sort of backstory isnt too important x-x

It’s also not a perfect 1-to-1 copy of the OG crew!

Vita replaces Himeko’s role as navigator but i headcanon this HSR!Vita as being a total menace like the Trailblazer. So just imagine our beloved raccoon Trailblazer as being in charge of the Astral Express, and that’s kinda what this Vita is like, lmao

Entropy takes Dan Heng’s role as archivist but not bodyguard, as Kosma is the bodyguard instead

Sena is fairly close to March 7th so thats no issue

And Griseo isnt really a direct replacement for Welt, though I like to imagine Entropy as filling the role of “responsible mom friend” that both Welt and Himeko fulfill in canon

I could still change anything about this, i.e. maybe Helia & Coralie would be a better fit than Griseo & Kosma

but for now thats what i came up with!

tho its mostly just an excuse for me to draw ship art of Entropy & Sena, lol
