Vesuvia Weekly: Caught Mid-Snooze

Some bullet-point headcanons for one of my favorite scenarios.

Our local Apprentices have to be out late, and their LI's have sworn up and down that they will stay up and wait for them to get home. It... does not work out like that.

Julian and Damian

When Julian first tells Damian of the plan to wait up for him, Damian’s response is Do Not.

This man needs actual sleep. 

But Julian, dramatic as always, insists he'll be there when Damian got home, wide awake and ready for quality time.  

Damian cannot talk him out of it

(He tries) 

When Damian eventually does get home from his outing, Julian is slumped over his desk, face firmly in a book, completely conked out. 

Damian would love to just scoop him up and bundle him to bed, but Julian is too lanky for that, so Damian has to gently wake him up and coax him in with the promise of lots of snuggles. 

Julian keeps mumbling about making up for lost time.

But honestly, just cuddling up together is the perfect way to spend the evening as far as Damian was concerned.

Asra and Meleia

Asra has the magical ability to nap anytime, anywhere

No matter how comfortable said napping spot is

So Meleia isn’t that surprised when she finds Asra draped over the shop counter like a Salvador Dali painting, head pillowed on his arms, fast asleep.

But she does find it hilarious 

(after the initial concern that something had gone terribly wrong has passed, of course) 

Asra isn't the least bit sheepish when he wakes up.

He had promised that he would be right there at the counter when she got back from her excursion, and he did keep his promise!

He just failed to stay awake. 

Meleia will tease him about this forever. It’s the only way to make sure he doesn’t do something like this again.

Portia and Chimalus

(don't worry, Nadia, Portia, and Chimalus are still a polycule, but let's face it, if Nadia says she'll stay up, she will stay up.)

Since Porita is working almost nonstop, Chimalus wasn't exactly fond of the idea of making her stay up more, but they didn't argue.

Chimalus almost sees it as a gift when they get back to Portia’s cottage after a very long series of meetings at the palace to see her curled up on the little sofa with Pepi firmly on top of her. 

Portia will absolutely claim it was all Pepi’s fault. 

After all, it’s illegal to move if you have a cat on your lap, didn’t you know that? 

(Or, in Portia’s case, to have a cat on your hip as you’re lying on your side) 

And Chimalus will have to make sure that Portia doesn’t fall into an anxious spiral when she realizes she “missed their date” because she “overslept.” 

It wasn’t a date. They were just going to have a late-night snack before bed. 

But the breakfast that Chimalus prepares in the morning for a now finally-well-rested Portia? That’s a date.

Hmmm... OH, Mafia AUs definetly. Nope, no thanks! I had ENOUGH with those during my one direction era and when I was in a Golden Wind RP groupchat. Idk they are just so... boring now. Like I was already bored by those when I got into Jojo's but at least the dynamic was not "You're Mine and I will kidnap you and commit acts of jealousy and abuse my power to show you you are MINE so you can call me daddy" 🤢 No gracias, toy bien asi. Which is why I havent really written anything more about Iris (my Jojo's OC) because I hc'd her as the child of Bruno and Abbacchio and thus eventually she becomes a member of Passione bla bla bla you get it. I do want to eventually write her in stone ocean but maybe that ship already sailed years ago 😅.

Also stuff like teacher x student make me severely uncomfy. I also thought about making Damian and Rox share universe since both stories take place in El Salvador... and it would be funny to make references of Rox being the "superhero" or one of the shinigamis remembering they collected Gwen's soul after she died on the long run it doesnt make sense for them to be in the same universe (because of Rox's universe plot and Damian's)

I would say tho, Rox's universe is a parallel one to Damian's, soo Rox could visit that universe and meet them because of the multidimentional watch. Look. Ever since Miguel entered my life I have not been able to shut up about him, I have several headcanons about SEVERAL versions of him (like for example movie Miguel, human Miguel, tiefling Miguel, papa luchon Miguel, etc etc) Most of all being variations of "How would he react and behave if he lived through this and that? Would he be a little less angry if he didnt go through this? would he be a little more open about this topic?" My Miguel headcanons are all about experimenting with him and putting him and Rox (or me lol) in situations where I can explore his persona and fantasize about them.

Anything from what kind of music he would listen to, how he sleeps, how he expresses his love. What does his day usually looks like, how does he care for Gabi and how he mourns her in another universe. His relationship with his mom, etc.

Recently the most common HC that comes up with Miguel in my fics is how a tough childhood and a mom who doesnt like him shaped him into who he is now, how he has either given up on "hope for a better life" or blames himself for the life he is having. And him allowing himself to be happy.

If I'm completely honest I dont like how the majority of the fic writers write him (specially the "your dad's best friend" trope, keep that shit away from me.) I just cant bear it. I dont like a Miguel who can easily call you several cheesy nicknames in spanish (que de por si la mayoria de mara que he visto son asi y tristemente entendible porque el español no es su idioma y quieren poder integrarlo a su personalida) MAKE THAT MAN STRUGGLE WITH IT, MAKE HIM HAVE TROUBLE CALLING YOU A LOVING NICKNAME SINCE HE IS NOT USED TO HAVING TO DO SO.

Miguel is such an interesting character to theorize about, specially looking deeper than what we knew about him in spiderverse (sisi ya se tambien los comics pero no los he leido nomas resumenes) and giving him a stronger identity because I feel theres so much you can do with his background and tweak lightly to make a little bit more sense (since its clear the original writers are not latinos. A quien putas se le ocurre ponerle a su mama "Conchata"? O decirle Gabri al Gabo? neta?? esa es mi manera de diferenciar quien es fan gringo y quien es fan latino KASJFHAKJSFAFS como le dicen al Gabriel ya ya me dice que pedo.)

Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey, one of the most powerful figures in the Democratic Party, faces federal corruption charges implicating him a far-reaching bribery scheme. According to prosecutors’ 39-page indictment, Menendez used his vast power as a lawmaker to benefit three New Jersey businessmen in return for gifts and cash. Senator Menendez Is No Friend of Crypto Menendez is not just any politician, but the senior senator from New Jersey and chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. As such, he has been able to pull strings and get people what they want on the diplomatic stage. The senator is also an enemy of cryptocurrency. Menendez frowns on tiny El Salvador’s efforts to lift its people out of poverty with a foray into the crypto realm. In June, Menendez joined with Senator Jim Risch, an Idaho Republican, to re-introduce a bill that would require the US State Department to study El Salvador’s experiment. And to come up with a report on its consequences for US-Salvadoran economic ties. Learn more about El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender and its relationship with the crypto industry. Menendez clearly agreed with Risch, who wrote in a blog post: “We must seek greater clarity on how the adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender may impact El Salvador’s financial and economic stability, as well as El Salvador’s capacity to effectively combat money laundering and illicit finances.” Agents investigating possible corruption linked DNA found on envelopes in Senator Menendez’s home to a business associate of the senator and the former’s driver. Senator Menendez’s Extensive Corruption Comes to Light As his stance on El Salvador makes clear, Menendez stands with those lawmakers and officials who share SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s general view of crypto. The view that it is “a field rife with fraud, rife with hucksters.” Given this stance, it is fair to ask who this Senator Menendez is. Surely he must be the furthest thing from a fraudster or a huckster? According to US Attorney Damian Williams, Menendez and his wife engaged in a “corrupt relationship.” Along with three New Jersey-based associates. Namely, Wael Hana, Jose Uribe, and Fred Daibes. And, Williams’s indictment states, it was not a flash in the pan. But, rather, a relationship that stretched from at least 2018 through 2022. Menendez and his wife Nadine, we learn, accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes. In return, the senator used his power and influence “to protect and enrich” the three associates. Also, to secure favorable treatment for the nation of Egypt. According to the indictment, certain officials in Egypt’s government sought Menendez’s help in getting around restrictions on weapons and military technology that Egypt could receive. “Those bribes included cash, gold, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-show job, a luxury vehicle, and other things of value,” the indictment states. Did Menendez Put Egypt Above US National Interests? Menendez’s actions may have even jeopardized US national security. For, we learn, he provided “sensitive US government information” to help Egypt. The senator also used his clout to put pressure on an official at the Department of Agriculture to protect a lucrative business venture. One that Egypt had allegedly granted to Hana. The misuse of Menendez’s power did not stop there. According to the indictment, the senator used his authority to disrupt a New Jersey Attorney General’s Office investigation into the doings of Uribe. In addition, Menendez tried to secure the nomination of a candidate for US Attorney for the District of New Jersey. Menendez thought the candidate could help influence the outcome of another investigation, involving Daibes. Law Enforcement Agents Establish Links With DNA The crooked ties between Menendez and his wife, and the three associates, came to light when federal agents carried out searches of the Menendez home in or around June 2022, we learn. In the course of those court-authorized raids, the agents found some $480,000 of dirty money.

It appears Menendez and/or his wife had hidden envelopes holding the cash in closets, clothing, and a safe. Using DNA, agents linked some of the envelopes to Daibes and his driver. Among the other items that agents found at the house? Over $100,000 worth of gold bars, gifts from either Daibes or Hana. The 39-page indictment of Menendez, his wife, and their three associates reads almost like a catalog of corruption and the misuse of power for selfish purposes. But cryptocurrency? Pero volviendo a Rox, tambien quisiera editar el fic de nuevo para añadir mas detalles del worldbuilding del universo de Rox porque lo hice un poquito a la carrera y creo que se merece que le describa un poco mejor porqur si bien podria fscilmemte solo decir "ah es un San Salvador alternativo" osea si y no.
