Interview: Damian Harker
Dossier:
Name: Damian Harker
Age: 58
Species: Human - Hunter
Circle: Mortalis
Known Relationships: Sebastian Harker (Nephew), Tabitha Spencer (Pseudo-Niece), Hollis Fiala, Thaddeus James, and Karlha Whitlock (Fellow Circle Leaders), Jose Alves Cruz (Coworkers of Sorts)
Interview:
What's your name?
“Damian Harker,” he says with practiced ease, looking at the clock above their heads. It ticks with each passing second - each second he could be with Tabitha or Sebastian or doing something to help ease their sufferings. And yet he’s stuck here being interviewed over a baseless accusation.
How do you know Tabitha Spencer?
He takes a long suffering deep breath before turning on a smile, though it hardly even reaches the levels of practiced politician he has going for him. “Tabitha is Sebastian’s half sister. We’re not related by blood but he cares for her and so do I. She’s a smart girl. She wouldn’t throw her life away for what ultimately amounts to nothing.
How do you know Jose Alves Cruz?
“The mayor, you mean?” Damian, despite himself, snorts. “We work closely together. It’s my job as the Mortalis leader to keep the Aware and the Un safe as well as away from as much business as they can. I suppose he’s been perfectly tolerable in assisting me. Being a thrall, however, well,” he decides to take a turn of phrase from Tabitha. “Could not possibly be me.”
How do you know Hollis Fiala?
Damian takes a long an labored breath, irritation finally showing through his facade. It’s been crumbling since New Years Eve and every poke and prod brings him closer to the edge of explosion. And no one will want to be in the wake of that. “We’re circle leaders, them and I and Karlha and Thaddeus. We do our jobs. We’ve worked together closely for some time and I had thought I could trust them. I suppose you can trust no one save your own kin. I’ve learned that now.”
Did you see the shot happened/What happened that night from your perspective?
Damian adjusts himself and closes his eyes in hopes to remember more than just nothing. “It was one of only a few moments I wasn’t with her. She’s young, a fresh wolf in their eyes, and I wanted to make sure she stayed safe. But I’d been out with Hollis. It’s custom for the leaders to sit together at these events; a show of solidarity with one another. I’d been right beside them when the shot happened. The first one sounded closer than the second. I react quickly to gunfire. I’m a hunter. And I looked to Fiala and I did not see the kind of look of shock someone who believes themselves immortal would experience in that moment.”
When did you get the invitation for the party/know you were going to work it?
“It’s an event that happens every year. It isn’t a surprise. Mr. James and Mrs. Whitlock try their best to think they’re secretive of their relationship, but I’m sure Mx. Fiala and I have known for some time, even if we haven’t vocalized our suspicions to each other. It’s a beautiful event regardless. I knew I would attend because I had told them as much when they mentioned the event coming out. I’ve gone all the years before. If I hadn’t, I’d have looked a fool. And I will tell you, I am no fool.”
Did you go with someone?
Damian sighs and rubs the space between his brow. He wonders, briefly, if things could even get worse than they are now for him and his family. “Tabitha was my date, of sorts. We were going together so she didn’t have to be alone. The night was supposed to be exciting for her, that she’d even gotten and invitation at all.”
Do you own a gun/have you ever owned a gun?
“I’m used to be a hunter, Kel, I own many guns and many of them are equipped to shoot both Fae and Wolf and Vampire alike. That is our job, it’s what we do. I’ve since given up the occupation but that doesn’t mean I don’t keep them around out of necessity. When you’re the Mortalis circle leader, there are many people looking to get you, some of which impossibly close. I keep myself safe with my things. I keep my family safe.” Or I used to, he wanted to add, but he can’t bring himself too, standing up abruptly as he brings a fist to his eye to push back the tears. “If that is all, I need to go check on my nephew. I hope you’re doing my due diligence.”

guys hear me out HEAR ME OUT...
Dracula, but it's Smosh...
Dracula: Damien! Spookiest guy, vibes fit the best, and could probably do the most accurate accent if he chose to. Oh and there's also that recent Games video where he bites Keith, so... he has an audition tape.
Renfield: Tommy; my vision for this is that he plays him like he plays Mental Illness... "Helloooooo Dr. Seward, it is me, your mental patient! I am going to eat a rat now and you are going to watch! Teeheehee!"
Jonathan Harker: Shayne would be really great for this, honestly. I think he'd be able to play into the creeping fear slow descent into terror incredibly well. He makes the best bewildered expressions too.
Mina Harker: Courtney, and not just because of Shayne's role. They would kick some serious ass as Mina, I think seeing her as an investigative character who can put all the pieces together would be really cool.
Lucy Westenra: Amanda would get a kick out of three guys proposing to her, c'mon. Plus I think she would make the role really campy and play into the damsel aspects in such a silly way, it'd be so fun to see.
Arthur Holmwood: I want to say Trevor for this, mostly because he's always so fantastic in the Gentleman videos and I think he'd play up the aristocracy part of the character really well if we're going for a more comedic tone, which I think we are considering it's Smosh.
Dr. Jon Seward: Maybe a weird pick, but I want to see Angela for this. I just love the idea of her playing someone very practical and level-headed, and then getting more and more confused as the story goes on and shit just keeps getting crazier and more fucked up. She also has great chemistry with both Tommy and Angela.
Quincey Morris: Spencer would be perfect, honestly. We've seen him do a southern accent a few times and it's always golden. I also think his sassiness and wit would really make the part stand out.
Van Helsing: I'm actually really stuck on this one. Damian would be perfect, if he wasn't already playing Dracula. So apart from that, my gut is actually telling me Anthony. I think that he has the right visual aesthetic for it, I think he'd have fun playing someone so cooky.

WIP List
I always like it when people talk about their WIPs. I live for that. So it's my turn. But I am a one-shot writer at heart with way, way too many ideas, so here is a list of everything I'm toying with. For the record, some of these don't even have a single word written yet, and none are that far along, so don't get your hopes up too high.
Smosh One-Shots
"Feelings are so fragile" — Platonic Shaymien thing where I project really hard onto Damien. (Yes it's for the aro collection)
"Most euphoric I've ever been" — A spetney fic based the fact that yes, they're technically a m/f couple... But like, no. Put them together, you've got nonbinary lesbian vibes. Sorry Spencer, you're getting your gender transed because there's no way you and Courtney are straight.
"But what's a home?" — A Damian QPR fic. Damien/Ian is already such an interesting rarepair and then you make it a QPR and it's like... They end up living together just temporarily because Damien's housing falls through and turns out they both really miss when they used to be living with their best friends and look I know everyone likes romance but do you know how good QPR fics can be? I love the idea of them as a QPR so much?
A thing for @aro-soulmates-fest about Anthony getting all his tattoos to hide the fact that he doesn't have a soulmate one.
A murderverse one shot about Arasha because God I fucking love gang AU!Arasha
A vampire!Spencer fic where Shayne plays the role of Johnathan Harker
"And I lie like the right thing to do" — me taking @generaltrashshecox 's whole "Anthony sleeping with Damien to cope with unrequited feelings for Ian thing that I love so much and just doing my own version of it where I lean into the angst so hard. With permission from bun, don't worry
A (platonic) nintendogs fic where I decide to do a little bit of own voices stuff on the fact that The Chosen is suuuuuuuuper schizo-coded
I bought a new ray and it's time to use it. Let's make Ian aplatonic this time.
"Then it's done." Killing off Spencer. Very one-sided Spommy.
A lil smut based on Anthony asking Tommy to choke him.
Hey @generaltrashshecox infected me again and now aro4aro Antmien needs to exist
This post into a real fic
Smosh not a one shot but also kind of a one shot?
14. "Once in twenty lifetimes" — A no smosh AU that's going to go through all the different ways Ian and Anthony could have ended, choose-your-own-adventure style. And as the title suggests, only one of them is the reunion. Most are things falling apart. And also to fit the title, it's going to be in twenty chapters (although that does not mean 20 endings. I don't hate myself.). So it's multichapter, but also it'll all be posted at once so it'll basically be a one-shot. It's going to end up as kind of an epic and God I hope it turns out as good as it is in my head. Inspiration for the good endings is "Cardigan" by Taylor Swift, and for the bad endings and a lot along the way is "San Cristobal" by Mal Blum.
15. Partners (in crime) — my Changela QPR fic that was supposed to be a one-shot right up until I wrote the thing, and actually wrote a chapter one. Not sure how long that's going to be, but I like it so far.
Smosh Multichapter
(The fact that my very one-shot oriented self has multiple of these is such a problem)
16. "Puppy Love" — I don't need to say anything about this. There are already 5 chapters on AO3. Either it's extremely your shit or you're wondering what the hell I'm doing and why I'm writing this extremely specific concept. If you're wondering why I still haven't posted chapter 6, it's because that has sex in it and I fucking hate writing sex scenes so I'm procrastinating really hard.
17. "I'll use you as a warning sign" (aka the evil fic, so named because chu-tea thinks I'm evil for coming up with the plot) — yeah so what I planned for PL was just a straightforward kind of fluffy ianthony piece. And then a certain friend of mine (*cough* chu *cough*) accidentally inspired me to think of a different ending that is such hardcore angst and hurt that I absolutely needed to make it happen and have been obsessed. It's interesting when you've already made the bad decision to start a long project and then oops, now you just really want the next 6 chapters to be done already so you can write the alternate ending. This one will *really* not be everyone's shit because I will rip your heart out in 6 different ways. But God I'm obsessed. Anyway, if you want details... I'll just say "major character death" and leave it at that. Oh and rarepair.
18. "I've come back changed and I can feel it in my bones" — an AU where "what if Anthony left because he got psychosis." Basically very hardcore projection on my part. This is on the back burner for a while because obviously when I have projects that aren't going to be emotionally gutting to write, I'd much rather work on them.
Non Smosh Stuff
(I'll be honest, I'm so deep in the smosh obsession that you should not get too excited about any of these. I know myself, so I know the smosh flame will eventually burn out but these are based on things I will be obsessed with until I die. So I know they'll happen. But not for a long time)
19. A Phantom of the Opera one-shot for @aro-soulmates-fest. This is the one thing I will actually write within a reasonable amount of time, because it's due March 17.
20. "Baby, please don't bore me" — A Series of Unfortunate Events — Sunny (well, Sorrel in this version because oops I transed their gender) teams up with Olaf to find their siblings after years of separation. I find them to be a very interesting chaotic, morally gray, bantery duo.
21. "Because the same night awaits us all" — ASOUE — A Klaus/Lemony fic that I swear I will write someday. Very morally gray, very much a codependent relationship, very leaning into the age gap. Basically they're together because they do not have anyone else in the world. It's just so delicious a dynamic that I will explore I swear.
22. ASOUE — I'm still not entirely convinced I'll ever be bothered to actually write this one, but I might do a Kit/Fernald FWB thing. I'm not sure where on earth the idea of that came from, but it's been living in my head for a long time now. Long enough that there's an early one-shot version of it that I don't really like anymore on *gasp* fanfiction.net
If anyone actually bothered to read all the way to the end of this long-ass post, you deserve a medal.

If you want a vampire, how about Dracula and Mina Harker? Damian would definitely look good on Harry Oldman's round glasses.
It won't be Bella and Edward, right? I have nothing against them, but a vampire without fangs?!?!!
I just showed my bf the part where Bella screams: YOU NAMED MY DAUGHTER AFTER THE LOCHNESS MONSTER?!!
And he hasn’t stopped quoting it since

Vampire Tim invites Bernard to the manor, and all of Bernard's followers on his conspiracy theory board treat him how the Dracula Daily Girlies treat Johnathan Harker.
But there's a full moon coming up, and he's determined to see the Wayne Family Werewolf it out.
Bruce keeps on dancing around whether or not Tim has "come out" about the vampire thing, and Bernard's like "Timmy you don't have to come out until you're ready 😇" although he's confused because if Tim has to come out to anyone, shouldn't it be the family and not his boyfriend who is already aware of the bi and trans thing?
After Bernard leaves, Damian is upset that they aren't werewolves. "Dowd is going to be very disappointed. You better temper his expectations, Drake."

This blog is mainly for finding roleplays. I roleplay exclusively on Discord (I love making private servers) and am 21+, so minors please DNI. Style-wise I can adapt to my partner, though my favourite way to write is lit for those juicy, introspective moments. NSFW friendly, and I like all sorts of pairs from fxf, mxf, mxm, to any nb pairs. what: gingerbread jamboree, december 24th who: @bastian-of-peace
As silly as the whole thing is, Clem does appreciate the amount of Holiday spirit everyone seems to be leaning into for this little Gingerbread competition. Even the people Clem would thought would be the biggest Scrooges’ were attending. Including Damian Harker, who Clementine does her best not to meet the gaze of. She doesn’t feel particularly threatened by him, but she doesn’t like owing her life to him either.
Of course, on the complete opposite end of all of that, there’s Bash. He was sweet, and always so concerned about Clementine. Friendly. Polite. There was nothing she didn’t love about Bash which felt so foreign compared to his Uncle.
Clementine tried not to focus on that too much. Who was she to judge when her Mother, the late great Orator, was nearly universally feared and hated by a majority of the Underground? That was hardly her fault, just as Damian’s behavior and presence was not Bash’s.
“I like your hat,” Clementine says, tapping the little flashing lights on the tree. “It really suits you. It makes you look super festive.”

now im curious, who would your top 10 characters be
so so so hard (~_~;) lemme see. sticking with literary because tv/movies is WAY too wide. not in any order but def,
leo v (hoo),
abigail williams (the crucible),
damian wayne (dc),
wally west (dc),
cersei lannister (asoiaf)
... peter hayes (divergent)
lady macbeth (macbeth),
jonathan harker (dracula),
sabrina grimm (the sisters grimm),
ok I'm gonna count this couple as one character but the thorn couple from the omen. they are so ridiculous. never has a horror book made me laugh the way they do. so stupid. (the omen)
I think this is a better reflection of my favorite books that have stuck with me over the years more than anything. unfortunately I do not read often, if I do, it is usually short stories or plays. a lot of these characters I've just liked on sight since middle school.

Plot Drop 003: The Trial of Tabitha Spencer Part 1
Tumblr media
THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER...
Two shots rang out on the night as the sun finished it’s rotation around the sun. To say 2023 started off with a bang to anyone outside the Midnight Underground would earn a laugh, but for the people within it they knew just how true of a statement it was. Hollis Fiala, one of their candidates, had been shot at Thaddeus James’ new year celebration event. Word spreads like wildfire and by the time the Unaware police have finished scoping the scene and been properly frightened or bribed away by those with money to burn, rumors have already been in wide speculation.
A young wolf named Tabitha Spencer, the sister to Damian Harker’s nephew, has been detained for suspicion of attempted murder. The only people near the gun were her and Mayor Jose Alves Cruz. It comes out quickly that Jose was injured in the attack, a thrall to Hollis themself, and the tide turns just as soon. Before there has even been a trial many of those in the Underground have decided her guilty. What other sense would there be in it?
Our inhabitants, as those trained to be ever vigilant and paranoid are swift to do, construct elaborate theories about the crime and its motivations. Perhaps Karlha had orchestrated the entire event in hopes of making competition less steep. Or maybe Damian had promised his pseudo-niece something for the same. Sympathy turns to the injured heir with their iron bullet wound and you can hear whispers and praise of the elegance with which they handled the night. Even those outside the wild circle are want to give them credit lest they seem suspicious in a conspiracy themselves.
The people do not know of what you know, my dears, for they are never the wiser of The Oracle’s visions of a doomed world consumed by darkness after Karlha’s death. To them it is an isolated incident. At least, for now.
You are charged with determining, and perhaps proving, Tabitha’s innocence during the night. The charges for these crimes are heavy and it would likely be off with her head.
THE FATES ARE CRUEL AND KIND...
When asked to roll for something, the DM:
They rolled....a 19 (critical success): The people of the Midnight Underground take Hollis’ side and believe Tabitha is the shooter.
When asked to roll for choice:
Kellan, Connor, Nora, and Esme rolled highest: They were chosen as the emissaries for their respective circles.
IMPLICATIONS FOR THE GAME...
We have our Emissaries who are to be conducting interviews and collecting evidence to the best of their abilities. Should you be conducting interviews with NPCs, we will be posting the information for you on the NPC blog in interview format for you to look. Should you be conducting interviews with a PC, please decide with that person how you’re going to conduct the interview so we can compile what was said by them somewhere for eyes to look upon. For physical evidence, such as the gun, we will be opening up a channel in the discord for our four emissaries to interact with it. Below is an indication of who each Emissary will have to interview. Those bolded are NPCs.
Connor: Connor Talbot I, Catherine Talbot, Rina Mochizuki, Rosemary Loup, Matthew Coleman-Reyes, Karlha Whitlock, Tabitha Spencer, and Lilith Gaumond
Kellan: Dr. Henry Jones, Cameron Kiskadden, Elias Hart, Jose Alvez Cruz, and Damian Harker
Esmeray: Hollis Fiala and Carmen Blakely
Nora: Chloe Li, Yasaminia Ahmadi, Thaddeus James, and Sebastian Harker
Good luck my darling dears. Try not to look too closely or you’ll spin yourselves into a tizzy.
Sincerely,

Name: Sebastian Leonard Harker
Nicknames: Bash, Seb, Bastian
Age: 34
Gender: Cisgender male (he/him)
Sexuality: Bisexual
Circle: Power
Occupation: Owner of the New Dawn Animal Shelter
The Building Blocks of One (1) Sebastian Leonard Harker:
He is the 7th of 8 children and the result of an affair his mother had with the handsome man she worked with at the dinner. While Bash's conception and birth put a strain on his mother and step-father's marriage, they chose to remain together, but his step-father made it very clear: Bash was not his son and he would never be. Bash was too young to recognize the clear resentment his step-father had for him, particularly when his eldest siblings, Nico and Nat, were so good at shielding him from it. If Bash was given less food than the others, Nat would sneak away snacks for him annd if his step-dad blamed Bash for something, Nico would make a bigger mess to take the blame off of him. Their kindness towards the "unwanted one" as his parents sometimes said always stuck with him.
For most of his life, all Bash knew of his father was his surname, given that his step-father didn't want him having his own. His mother once drove him to the dinner she used to work at to point him out to Bash, but he couldn't recall the face he has seen no matter how hard he tried. He had assumed that he didn't get to have a father, like most of the other kids at school. But as he was reading aloud in his fifth grade language arts class, he felt something pull at him, a thread around his heart he had never felt before. He thought he was dying. An ambulance to the emergency room assured him he was not dying, but the look on his step-father's face told him that he might be dying later that night. Before it could get that far, a young man with calloused hands and a simple smile met them outside the hospital and introduced himself as Damian Harker, Bash's uncle. After several long conversations between his parents and this new uncle, he was told that his father was dead but that Damian promised to take care of his nephew. With the pikachu plush his sister, Quinn, got him for his birthday held tightly in his hands, he followed his uncle straight into the Underground.
Despite growing up unaware, Bash still had the hunter blood in him and all assumed that it wouldn't take much from him to blossom into his full potential. Bash thought that they clearly had never spoken with his step-father because he had a way of disappointing people. Bash wasn't just uncoordinated and clumsy with a tendency to cry when he hits someone too hard; he was soft. Uncle Damian promised that he would grow out of it all with practice and while eventually he could punch a vampire in the jaw without blinking, his bleeding heart refused to harden. They were just people and they deserved a chance to live, even if they weren't human. Uncle Damian told him that this was how things were in the Underground but Bash never could shake the feeling that he was acting in the same way that his step-father had done to him. That wasn't who he wanted to be. A door opened to him for another option, one that could help him bridge the gap between the life his uncle wanted for him and the one he wanted for himself. Bash ran towards it and never looked back.
The Shield Bearer seeks to protect and they found a kindred spirit in the foolhardy boy who still needed to have a pikachu toy under his pillow to sleep. Anyone could kill, but you needed more than a ready blade to truly protect someone. So Bash gave them his oath and a promise: Give Guidance, but not Control. Protect, but never Coddle. Offer Peace, but prepare a Blade.
Since becoming a sworn, Bash has tried to bridge the gap between the circles, choosing the role as a diplomat instead of a fighter (thought he was just as ready to bring out his weapon if the situation called for it). He did this with the building of the New Dawn Animal Shelter, using the place as a cover to also create a safe space for new supernaturals or anyone who needed help. He has access to supplies for any who might need it and helps people integrate themselves into the city. If you ever need anything, Bash will always be willing to help.
People don't really talk about the other side of Bash's job. He may be kind, but he was still a sworn. He was still a Harker. And this was still the Underground. People didn't always like living in the way Bash presented to them. Why play nice with weaker species when there was fun to be had. Those people laugh in Bash's face when he holds his hand out to them in peace. Those people don't laugh when Bash runs his blade through their heads. Bash may be kind, but he did not like bullies and he would not accept their wonton violence.
His youngest sister, Tabitha, works with him at the animal shelter after having being turned in a random werewolf attack. While Bash is busy being the hero the city needs, Tibby is behind him making sure he doesn't kill himself trying.

Interview: Jose Alves Cruz
Dossier:
Name: Jose Alves Cruz
Age: 50
Species: Human - Thrall
Circle: Mortalis
Known Relationships: Marcia Alves Cruz (Deceased Wife), Josefina Anita Alves Cruz (Daughter), Hollis Fiala (Thraller), Damian Harker (Business Partner of Sorts)
Interview:
What's your name?
“My name?” The mayor smiles easily, setting down his files so he can focus forward on the hunter before him. Hunters and thralls were truly two opposites of the spectrum a simple human could exist as in the Midnight Underground - the Aware falling flatly in the middle. Love the Supernatural so much you tie yourself to them, or hate them enough to spend your life dedicated to their deaths. Of course it was never quite so simple as that. There had been Cameron, the one who had fallen in love with the wolf. Poor man, truly. “Jose Antonio Alves Cruz is my name.”
How do you know Tabitha Spencer?
He takes a few seconds to really ponder the question - how can he answer this as honestly as possible. “I don’t know her well at all. Until I saw her reach for the gun and shoot Mx. Fiala, I didn’t even care to know her name. There are a lot of wolves in the Underground. I hope you can understand how I, a humble thrall, wouldn’t be so privy to all their names. As Mayor I’m more well versed in the Aware and those that aren’t. And Tabitha isn’t the type of wolf you ask to thrall you. She’s too young and too reckless. As you can tell from tonight.”
How do you know Jose Alves Cruz?
The question is redundant. The man before Kellan knows himself probably better than most people do and he looks forward at them with a politicians easy kind of smile.
How do you know Hollis Fiala?
“I’m sure you’ve heard through the grapevine by now just how I now Hollis Fiala,” Jose jokes and gestures to his arm, still in the sling from the bruising pain that’s been there ever since the shot rang out. The woes of being the thrall were simply that. When your thraller hurt, so did you. But when they flew high, well, that was intoxicating, an addiction that was easy to fall for. Temptation had always been the rotten curse in his family line. He thinks for a moment about Josefina who he had trapped in the same curse. It was better this way. “I’m their thrall.”
Did you see the shot happened/What happened that night from your perspective?
“It was all very fast, I hope you can understand.” Jose begins slowly, deliberately, like every word that follows takes him a considerable amount of effort and thought. “I heard something that sounded like a gunshot and then there was an actual gunshot. I felt this pain blossoming in my shoulder and I knew Hollis had been hit. Thralls are tied to their thrallers and as such we feel everything they feel. Though the opposite direction is less intense. What a silly thing for Fae to feel something a human does, for example. Nothing I have experienced has hurt quite so badly. Next thing I knew there was a scuffle and my guards had grabbed Miss Spencer and the gun was on the floor. None of the people paid to protect me would shoot someone who would hurt me indirectly so there was something else to assume. Both Hollis and myself had been shot by Tabitha Spencer. I feel sorry for Damian. He’s a good man.” Though when he says that, well, the smile does not quite reach his eyes.
When did you get the invitation for the party/know you were going to work it?
“I suspected I would get an invitation as I do every year since I’ve been mayor of Las Vegas. To have someone Aware, let alone a thrall, in the back pocket of the Underground is useful so I think they try to keep me on their side by showing me just how human you can all be.” Jose smiles, shaking his head. “It isn’t necessary though. I’m already here. Karlha and Thaddeus are quite the happy couple, aren’t they? Marcia and I would have been celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary this year.”
Did you go with someone?
“I did not. I would have gone with my wife, but, as you know she passed away recently, in November. I’m still in grieving and I haven’t put much thought into it. We were married a long time, over two decades. You can understand that, I’m sure. And I would have brought Josefina, but she had other plans for the evening. Busy thing, my little girl. So very, very much like her mother.” Unfortunate as it was. But he left that part off.
Do you own a gun/have you ever owned a gun?
Jose laughs, mostly because he thinks the line of questioning is a bit silly. He points to the gun safe sitting only a few feet away from him in his office. “As you can see, I do. Many of them. I’m a thrall working as the mayor of a dangerous town with an even more dangerous underbelly that would love nothing more than to take advantage of me and mine. Beyond that, I go hunting quiet often. Duck, deer, anything, really. So yes, I have guns. You’re more than welcome to look through them if you like. All of them are registered in the Unaware databases and I would be happy to have that proof printed off for you to look over at your own discretion. Now, if you don’t need anything else, I have to go back to some documents. I may be part of your world, but I’m also part of the other one and I’ve promised you both plenty.”

Netflix’s The One: Where Have You Seen Hannah Ware and Stephen Campbell Moore Before?
https://ift.tt/2OoklSU
Set in the very near future where scientists have discovered a method of matching people with their perfect romantic fit using DNA, eight-part Netflix Original The One is technically a sci-fi drama. Really though, it’s a crime thriller revolving around the murky circumstances in which the cash cow company behind the matching service was created. Written by Misfits and Crazyhead creator Howard Overman, The One is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by John Marrs. It’s a cat-and-mouse game between wealthy, driven CEO Rebecca (Hannah Ware) and police detective Kate (Zoë Tapper).
While you’re solving the show’s mysteries, we’ve taken the liberty of solving that nagging background question of where you might have seen its cast on screen before…
Hannah Ware – Rebecca Webb
Prior to The One, actor and model Hannah Ware’s biggest roles were over in the US. She starred opposite Sean Penn as an astronaut in Mars-landing sci-fi drama The First, played the drug-addict daughter of Kelsey Grammer’s mayor character in Starz political drama Boss, and played the co-lead in ABC relationship drama Betrayal, which was cancelled after one season. Film-wise, Ware played top assassin Agent 90, Katia van Dees in 2015 feature Hitman: Agent 47, based on the videogame series. She’s the sister of British singer-songwriter Jessie Ware.
Stephen Campbell Moore – Damian
Stephen Campbell Moore’s other most recent TV role is in War of the Worlds (pictured above) another Howard Overman-written series produced by Urban Myth. In that he plays Jonathan, a married father who’s stranded in France when aliens invade Earth, who has to find his way back to his family in the UK. His highest-profile film role was probably in 2019’s Downton Abbey movie, which came after 2006’s The History Boys, 2011’s Johnny English Reborn and Nicolas Cage actioner Season of the Witch. He’s had plenty of TV roles, including BBC period military drama The Last Post, The Child in Time with Benedict Cumberbatch, the Titanic TV series, Hunted, Our Zoo, The Wrong Mans and many more.
Dimitri Leonidas – James
Leonidas’ biggest TV role to date is probably in Sky Atlantic’s glossy thriller Riviera, in which he plays Christos Clios, a billionaire’s son who takes over his father’s companies. As a teenager, he was a regular in Grange Hill, and followed that up with parts in The Bill, Holby City and Eleventh Doctor Doctor Who episode ‘The God Complex’, written by Toby Whithouse.
Lois Chimimba – Hannah
Scottish stage and screen actor Chimimba played a witch in the second season of Sky One’s A Discovery of Witches, and has starred opposite Jodie Whittaker twice, first in medical drama Trust Me, then in Doctor Who series 11 episode ‘The Tsuranga Conundrum’, where she played Mabli. We’ll soon be able to see her in Stephen Merchant’s new community payback-based comedy series The Offenders.

Eric Kofi-Abrefa – Mark
On TV, stage and screen actor Kofi-Abrefa played the regular role of Noah in raunchy period drama Harlots, as well appearing in a host of crime dramas including Informer, Sherlock, The Bill, supernatural detective show Lucky Man, videogame sci-fi series Halo: Nightfall, and US action thriller Treadstone.
Zoë Tapper & Gregg Chillin – Kate & Nick
Tapper’s working relationship with The One‘s producers goes back a long way, with past roles in their supernatural UK series Hex, in which she played Gemma, and Demons, in which she played Mina Harker. She was in the Survivors remake, as well as Mr Selfridge, Safe House, Nightflyers and Liar.
Most recently, Gregg Chillin can be seen in Sky One’s A Discovery of Witches, where he plays scheming vampire and Congregation member Domenico. Prior to that, he was regular Zoroaster in Starz-Fox period supernatural drama Da Vinci’s Demons, and played Owen, the boyfriend to Annie before she became a ghost in BBC Three’s brilliant Being Human. Here’s a bit of fun too: he voiced the role of Ron Weasley in several Harry Potter videogames.
Amir El-Masry – Ben
You might have recently seen El-Masry in BBC/HBO financial trader series Industry, or in Amazon Prime action series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, among several smaller screen roles. He’s recently been announced as starring alongside Alfie Allen, Dominic West and Jack O’Connell in WWII drama SAS: Rogue Heroes, from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
Simone Kirby – Charlotte
His Dark Materials fans will recognise The One’s Charlotte as Dr Mary Malone (pictured above), the physicist who befriends Lyra in the BBC/HBO series. She’s had many roles on screen since 2005, from Dark Heart (also starring Gregg Chillin, see above) to Silent Witness, Resistance, Rebellion, and a role opposite Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill in Peaky Blinders series two.
Pallavi Sharda – Megan
Australian actor Pallavi Sharda’s biggest mainstream UK role was on ITV’s period drama Beecham House, set in colonial India, in which she played Chandrika. She’s also starred in several Hindi films including My Name is Khan, Besharam and Dus Tola.

The One is available to stream in full on Netflix.
