well actually it started as a reawakened blackhill obsession which wound up into a natasha and yelena obsession and then i saw fic with yelena natasha AND daisy??? I am in a obsession blackhole. Help me. But actually this is just me complimenting your fic again. I hadn't really considered the dynamic of season 4 daisy and just freed Yelena and it is DELICIOUS. The levels of trust and comfort Yelena would have to have towards Daisy to go to her instantly out of everyone alone makes me really curious about their previous relationship. Then Yelena and Daisy's exploration of the cities they go to and just being regular girls, even for a moment was just so heartwarming. I especially enjoyed the scene where Daisy kept the gelato cool for Yelena, it speaks a lot about their relationship that she'd use her powers (Which in season 4 she'd probs consider a burden/curse) just to do something so simply sweet is just. OUCH. Thanks for the very good fic :) Can't wait to see where you go with it.

daisy & yelena background is definitely something i've been thinking about. i wasn't able to really include it bc the fic was all in daisy's POV but i think that their interactions when they were younger is what "saved" yelena, where she was close to pulling a nat and leaving because of daisy (except then obv got brainwashed...).

daisy helped her see the beauty in humanity again bc she has so much compassion and yelena, who would've been pretty damn burned out by the red room at that point, would be able to feel some companionship in a way that we dont see btwn the widows bc of the competition btwn them and really latch onto daisy and to some extent, trust her with being a human in a way that she couldn't with other widows. so of course when she gets free she wants to go back to someone who made her feel real and alive, someone who she trusts.

them exploring the cities was something that i tried to put in thinking of yelena in hawkeye- she explicitely asks kate abt seeing the sights in new york, so i wanted to adapt that to this fic! she wants to have new experiences! she wants to live and explore! and of course it added a nice lighter component to an otherwise emotionally heavy fic where daisy also gets to just live for a little while, which she absolutely does not do ever. get this girl a work-life balance.

daisy using her powers is always such an interesting thing to think about. she hates it at first. she believes they're a gift. she sees the destructive nature of them. she fully believes that she breaks the world apart. she believes that they're all of what she is. she doesnt care if it hurts her. all in the seven seasons and often at once.

but also overwhelmingly we only see her use them in battle situations. and she can do so much beyond that! def i think s4 shes only using them when necessary for her self-assigned murder mission so branching out is a whole different thought for her. id like to expand on this a bit in the next fic bc her powers are Always on my mind but... we'll see. cant have everything 😭 even though im the one writing it.

but me getting into daisy's head for this whole fic was: how can i help lena, how can i make her feel better, how can i help her succeed. wait a fucking second why am i going through emotional growth? none of that. let me focus on yelena. noo the emotional growth is getting meeeee.

In Secret Warriors, Daisy admits to Kamala that she wishes she could be like her. She doesn't want to be the person that follows orders or sees only the evil in the world. She wants to see the good despite her Shield training. Kamala responds that she can. That its a choice. She doesn't need to ever listen to anyone. And I'm guessing Kamala means it, bc she wouldn't have left the Champions and joined Daisy during this time if she didn't.

Later, Daisy is in Force Works. Maria Hill tries to give Daisy orders and basically shouts at her for not listening. Which is classic Hill behavior in the comics. She even goes as far as taking a shot at how Daisy had the same haircut as her during her initial Shield days but now that she grew her hair, she doesn't want to listen to them lmao. But Daisy stands her ground. She reiterates that she stands by her choice in the field. She isn't interested in pushing Shield's, or now more accurately, the government's agenda (shield itself is defunct). She wants to help people. And she would do it again. And then she walks out like the boss she is. This is exactly what Kamala wanted from her.

While I try to keep my fanfiction gender neutral, some of it will be directed towards she/her or she/they pronouns as that is how I identify and it's hard to break that habit. Mostly gender neutral though!

“Hi, babe!” Y/N squeals as she walks into the communal area, finally back at the base with her teammates after a long mission. “I missed you so much, you don’t even understand.” She walks straight to Daisy, ignoring everyone else in the room.

“You’re home!” Daisy jumps up from the couch, abandoning the shooter game she was playing with Mack.

The two laugh as they pull each other into a big embrace. They’re acting as if no one else is in the room, which makes the others either roll their eyes playfully or share a knowing smirk amongst one another.

“How was the mission?” Daisy holds one of her hands on Y/N’s waist, not wanting to let go of her now that she is finally near.

Y/N shrugs with a small smile. “It was fine.” She is still wearing her suit, but she really wanted to see the others—Daisy to be more specific—before cleaning herself up. “May and I kicked their asses.” She punches the air while doing sound effects.

Jemma walks over to the duo, interrupting their giggling, “do the rest of get a hug or is it just Daisy?” She asks with a smile.

“Shut up.” Y/N pulls Jemma into a tight hug. “I missed all of you.”

“Equally?” Bobbi smirks, her brow raised, as she looks at the from the kitchen side of the room.

“Now, now,” she tilts her head, looking back at Bobbi with a grin, “lets not get too far ahead of ourselves.” Y/N turns to Daisy and kisses her cheek. “I’m going to get cleaned up. I love you!”

“I love you.” Daisy says after her while staring at her back as she walks away from the common room. She has a wide smile on her face even after she is gone.

Sitting back to the couch and picking up the console, she starts playing the game with Mack again. Jemma and Bobbi are in the kitchen area making dinner for the whole team.

“So,” Mack starts, keeping his eyes on the game, “when are you two going public?”

“Huh?” Daisy’s attention gets completely taken off the screen, which causes her character to die. Mack lets out a groan, but she pays no mind to it. “What do you mean?”

He looks at her with his brows raised. He is trying to see if Daisy is being serious. “With your relationship?”

“We’re just friends.”

Mack squints his eyes. “You expect me to believe that?”

“We are! I don’t know where you got the idea of us being together.” She mumbles, but there is an uncertainty to her voice. Is there something else between them? Seeing the conflict on her face, Mack decides to drop the subject and continue the game in silence.

Daisy paces around her room, brows scrunched up and lips raw from the force she is biting them. Her mind is all over the place. She doesn’t know what to think about the situation between her and Y/N. They’ve always been close, they hit it off instantly when they met, and ever since then, they’ve been practically inseparable.

She thinks over every interaction they’ve had during the years. She is trying to search how they could have made their relationship seem romantic without meaning to. Sure, they’re always attached by the hip, and have said they’d never be able to live without the other, going as far as promising they’ll have free reign over each other’s houses if they ever move out of the SHIELD base. But every best friend does these kind of things. It’s not abnormal for them to seek out physical contact with each other, or spend more time huddled together in one bed rather than sleeping in their own ones. Friends call each other cute pet names and say I love you multiple times a day.

Pausing, Daisy closes her eyes. She tries, she really tries to assure herself they’re just friends. That there are things all friends do.

But she doesn’t do these things with anyone else than Y/N. She doesn’t call Bobbi babe, or hold Jemma’s hand whenever they go outside, or sit impossibly close to Mack when they play games.

Y/N isn’t just a friend to her.

She really loves her.

Daisy goes out to the hallway, starting her quest of finding Y/N, so she can talk to her immediately. She peeks into few different rooms, all of them empty. She tries to rack her brain if Y/N mentioned having another mission, but she shouldn’t, not so soon after the last one.

Soon enough, she bumps into Jemma. “Do you know where Y/N is?”

Her eyes turns wide as she takes in the urgency in Daisy’s voice. “Last time I saw her she was going to the locker room, pretty sure she is about to go grocery shopping with Bobbi. Is everything okay?”

The question doesn’t get heard by Daisy, as she is already half across the hallway, practically running towards the locker room.

She barges into the room, scaring Y/N and making her drop the shirt she was about to put on. “Sorry!” Daisy turns around immediately when she notices the amount of bare skin visible, her cheeks flushing red, as if she has never seen Y/N naked before.

“Jesus, Dais.” Y/N lets out a breathe, calming down now that there is no immeasurable threat to fight. She picks up her shirt and pulls it on. “What’s going on?” Giggling quietly, she picks up her bag, slightly put off by Daisy’s behavior.

“Nothing.” She presses her eyes shut, cursing at herself for losing all of her composure in front of Y/N. “Just wanted to say hi, and…add stuff to the grocery list before you leave.”

“Okay.” Y/N stares at Daisy’s back, she still hasn’t turned back around. “What did you want to add?” Her voice is soft and her eyes study her friend as they start walking out of the room.

“Candy?”

The word comes out more of a question rather than a statement, which makes Y/N give Daisy a weirded out look. She hums, slowly nodding. “Pretty sure candy is already on the list.”

“Right, Hunter.” Daisy clears her throat. Of course, candy is already on the grocery list, it’s the first thing Hunter writes on it every time the empty shopping list appears on the fridge door.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes, sorry, I think I’m just tired.” She lets out a forced laugh.

Y/N can see right through her, they both know this, but fortunately for Daisy, she decides to let it go. “Okay. Well, I have to go or Bobbi will leave with out me.” She gives her a playful roll of her eyes and a grin.

“I love you.” Daisy says as she stops walking.

“I love you too!” Y/N has a wide smile on her face while she continues making her way towards the door.

However, Daisy grabs her hand, not letting her leave. “No I-“ she hesitates, not sure if this is a good moment for a confession or if she really has the bravery to do it, “I love you.”

“Oh.” She stands there, furrowing her brows while she looks at Daisy, who is giving her a very peculiar look. Y/N’s mind works overtime as she tries to think why Daisy would have to repeat the sentence they’ve told each other multiple times be- “Oh.” Her eyes widen in recognition.

“Yeah.” Her voice is quiet.

The two stand there, looking at each other, Daisy’s hand still holding onto Y/N’s arm. Neither of them know what to think or to do in a situation like this. Daisy’s hands are shaking, and her heart feels like it’s beating out of her chest from the nervousness she is feeling.

“I think I feel the same.” Y/N whispers. She is looking at the ground, her brows furrowed together and lips slightly parted.

“Really?”

The way Daisy’s voice gets a pitch higher when it’s full of hope and happiness makes Y/N smile. She does love her. She always has, but she has never been brave enough to face those feelings. “Yeah.” She laughs, a sudden surge of giddiness overcoming her body.

Daisy pulls her closer by the arm she is holding, and smashes their lips together. The feeling is better either of them could’ve ever hoped for. Their bodies are melting together, like they’re meant to be, and maybe they are.

They pull away, breathless and smiling, still staying close to each other. “I think I want to do that again.” Daisy states, her eyes fluttering open when Y/N’s forehead meets hers.

“No one is stopping you.”

At that, Daisy pulls her back in, moving her arms to Y/N’s hips, holding onto them tightly so she’d never be able to get away.

“No PDA in the hallways!” Bobbi’s sudden loud voice makes the two jump away from each other. Their wide eyes meet Bobbi’s slightly disgusted ones, she is trying to shield her eyes with her hand. “Is it over?” When she hears quiet and embarrassed mumbles, Bobbi crosses her arms over her chest. “I am very happy you two finally decided to stop pining after each other, but we were supposed to leave fifteen minutes ago, Y/N.”

“Sorry.” She tilts her head to the side with a small smile. “I got, sidetracked.”

“I saw it.”

“I’ll see you later?” Y/N looks at Daisy.

“Yeah, my room.” She whispers so Bobbi won’t hear.

Y/N nods, kisses her cheek, and jogs over to Bobbi, finally ready to go grocery shopping. “I love you!”

“I love you too!”

Series Concept:

Quake: Veil of Deception continues from Matthew Rosenberg’s Secret Warriors, centering on Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, as she navigates the complex world of espionage and hidden threats in the wake of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s collapse. The series integrates the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, particularly the Power Broker storyline, while maintaining the mystery of Sharon Carter’s true identity as the Power Broker—known only to the audience.

Premise:

Following the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Daisy Johnson is drawn into a dangerous new mission when she uncovers a growing black market for advanced weapons and technology, spearheaded by a mysterious figure known only as the Power Broker. Daisy’s investigation takes her to Madripoor, where she must navigate a world of criminals, mercenaries, and rogue operatives. Unbeknownst to Daisy, the Power Broker is Sharon Carter, a former ally whose true motives remain hidden from everyone but the audience.

Plot Outline:

Arc 1: The Shadows of Madripoor

The audience, however, knows that Sharon is manipulating events from behind the scenes, ensuring that her true identity remains concealed while she uses Daisy to eliminate her rivals and secure her position.

Arc 2: The Broker’s Web

As Daisy delves deeper into the Power Broker’s network, she begins to uncover disturbing evidence of super-soldier experimentation and the illegal trade of S.H.I.E.L.D. technology. Suspicion grows as Daisy notices inconsistencies in Sharon’s behavior and the way events seem to play out to the Power Broker’s advantage. Arc 3: Unseen Enemies

Daisy’s investigation uncovers a deeper conspiracy involving the remnants of Hydra and rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agents working for the Power Broker. The tension between Daisy and Sharon builds, as Sharon’s cover begins to show cracks under the pressure of Daisy’s relentless pursuit of the truth.

In a twist, Bucky Barnes arrives in Madripoor, having been tipped off by an anonymous source (Sharon herself, unbeknownst to him). Bucky’s arrival complicates matters further, as he and Daisy team up to track down the Power Broker, both unaware that the person they are looking for is right under their noses.

The audience is treated to moments where Sharon, under the guise of helping Daisy and Bucky, subtly manipulates events to ensure her plans stay on track. Her duplicity adds tension to every interaction, with the readers aware of the looming revelation that could shatter Daisy and Bucky’s trust.

Skyeward Fic Recs

Here's a new list including both old and recent works! I'm always on the hunt for beautifully written fics with great plots and compelling characterization - or you know, just enjoyable and quick fixes, that too - so this list will be updated from time to time. (Note: some fics are abandoned or incomplete.)

The Head & The Heart series by Poetgirl925 is my all-time favorite long fic, featuring a non-HYDRA Agent Ward who ends up planning and working on operations with Skye at the Triskelion. It's the lesser-known sister of the famous Under Your Skin fic by the same author.

the death of peace of mind by hellfxres involves a Hellfire! Ward working as a firefighter. That is, until Agent Daisy Johnson shows up at his station. I haven't finished reading this, but the premise is so interesting that it's on my list.

There is Nothing Special About Grant Ward by NezumiPi is one of my only two bookmarks. That's how good it is - a complex and absorbing exploration of Grant Ward's childhood as the son of a mob boss, his abusive relationship with Garrett, and his subsequent crimes. In custody at the Playground, Ward slowly is allowed to participate in operations again. (Note: this is not for the apologists and while there are interactions between Skye and Ward, they are not romantic in nature.)

You Know You're My Saving Grace by GreenEyedStone is historical fiction set in WW2. Unapologetically Skyeward, it follows the life of Skye, the daughter of the United States Air Force Major Phil Coulson, as she gets married to the soldier Grant Ward and has a child. She works on the frontlines in Europe as a journalist. (I'll admit I'm biased as I beta'd some of it, but I think this fic is criminally underrated.)

How to Keep Your Distance, Unsuccessfully by miniaturesketches, aka me, is an old two-shot. Set in Season 4, Daisy Johnson is on the run as a wanted vigilante, hunting down the Watchdogs. When she's severely injured, there's only one person she can call - Grant Ward, her old partner at S.H.I.E.L.D. (Note: "Ward Is Not HYDRA" fic.)

Four Bullets and A Dirty Smile by thefrenchmistake is one of the most popular Skyeward fics of the early 2020s. Not S.H.I.E.L.D-friendly, it's a classic Grant Ward redemption story. But my personal favorite from this author is the oneshot Maybe in One of Those, We Can Win It All, involving the multiple tragic universes in which Skye and Ward meet. So much angst.

I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day by go_astray_with_me, who is the queen of fun-to-read Skyeward. I'm always excited to read her oneshots (and PWP) when they turn up on the Skye/Grant Ward tag. This one is pretty much as the title says.

The Fine Dimensional Line by Kylia has one of the most exciting plots I've read. Grant Ward and Kara Palamas, desperate to escape HYDRA! Skye, take a gamble on one of Fitz's mad ideas - and end up in an alternate world, one where the fine line between loyalty and treachery, love and hate, worked out completely differently.

Real or Not by DrawntoDarkness is a classic oneshot. After being tortured, Skye has trouble differentiating truth from her implanted memories. She spends a day with each member of the team.

The Persistence of Memory by Eienvine is a "Ward goes through T.A.H.I.T.I." fic. James Shaughnessy is a respectable but average person living a respectable but average life . . . except for the dreams. Except for the scars on his body that he can't explain. Except for Daisy, the beautiful girl who comes to his restaurant sometimes and looks at him like she knows him.

The White Silence by starshine is a beautifully written oneshot. After they crash in the Canadian mountains, Ward must get an injured Skye to Providence. The fact that he is an enemy of SHIELD is of little importance in the face of hypothermia threatening to set in.

A Spy Like Me by colormeblue. After the Battle of New York, Grant Ward decides that he no longer wants Hydra to win its war with SHIELD and becomes a triple agent. Nick Fury gives him orders to work with Coulson's team in order to get valuable intelligence on Hydra but Grant finds his triple status and working with a team quite difficult.

Shades of Grey by imadetheline is another slowburn, Grant Ward redemption fic (unfortunately, abandoned). It was one of the first SW fics I read and I still have fond memories of it!

Rey Solo... Rey from Jakku.... Rey No one... anything but Rey Skywalker.

The Last Jedi simply revealed that Rey was a "nobody" – perhaps the most shocking and least expected outcome for the Rey lineage debate. It was a perfect twist in our heroine story despite people seeming desperate for her to be connected to some man already in the franchise.

Daisy Ridley has even expressed her frustration with the Rey’s lineage debate multiple times, “I love that Rey is such a great character, they’re like: ‘No, no, she has to be… she has to be-’She’s her own person! Let her be her guys, let her live."

Exactly! Why did people care so much? Maybe initially, it was fun to hypothesize. However, once the reveal came out people actually liked that she was fresh, a brand new start instead of just nostalgia, or, a way to continue on a males legacy. We have Ben Solo for that, or, at least we did.

More than a shocking twist created just to subvert expectations, the Rey “no one” reveal encapsulated The Last Jedi’s perfect message – anyone could be the hero of their own story.  Rey’s realization was that her heritage don’t matter ... all that matters is who she chooses to be now. Rey’s legacy didn't need to be defined by Luke or Leia, which would leave her free to start her own story - hell, Star Wars to have a future. On the other end was Ben/Kylo Ren, who did come from the mighty Skywalker family and hailed as the son of heroes and wanted to escape that legacy.

Then here comes JJ "Nostalgia Kind" Abrams and Chris Terrio. Terrio here “We also thought that Rey’s arc cannot be finished after Episode VIII. You can leave Episode VIII and say, “Well, now, Rey is content. She’s discovered her parents aren’t Skywalkers, or whatever, and that’s fine.” But so much of her personal story was about where she came from, what kept her on Jakku all those years and the trauma that shaped her. We see quite strongly in Episode VII that something mysterious and troubling happened to her. Although she did get some answers in Episode VIII, we didn’t feel that that story was over. We felt that there were still more questions in Rey’s head about where she came from and where she was going. So, that was the other big idea that we had to address in this film. Rian’s answer to, “What’s the worst news that Rey could receive?” was that she comes from junk traders, and that’s true. She does come from junk traders; we didn’t contradict that.” No, you just went back to what you wanted in the beginning.

By the end Rey takes on not only the Skywalker name but she looks over two suns which brings me to the point of this essay...... if Ben wasn't going to be there, then she should have taken last name. Rey Solo.

What's irritating about LucasFilm/Disney is their desire to appease everyone. I don't give a damn about the antis, nor should they. Reylos were a big support group for the films and mightily invested. TROS came off as trying to please everyone. If we really think about, with the exception of the end of Exegol, the Rey and Kylo interactions lacked depth and intimacy. Perhaps it's just not the style of JJ Abrams and Chris Terrio, who did support the pairing.

While I'm 100% convinced Reylo was planned, all the creators seemed very open to adjusting if it wasn't working. Hence why Finn and Poe were both open considerations, especially Finn. I don’t think Adam or Daisy intentionally played up any sexual tension in their scenes together to give us an impression about something in TFA.  I think it just happened.  Early bird Reylos picked up on it.  Some critics, including the one who wrote the TFA review for Time magazine, picked up on it. Rian Johnson picked up on it too and the rest is history.

Leia’s behavior's is odd for entire decades. Being a trained Jedi herself, she could have taught her son - instead she sent him to his uncle( Oh wait, that was a retcon). Han was either helping with the Resistance or off doing something shady. From the novels we learn that Ben heard his parents arguing and talking about him like he was a monster ever since he was a child, and that when he was sent away this seemed to confirm to him that something was wrong with him and had to be fixed. (From the novels we also learn that he actually had no ambition to become a Jedi and wanted to be a pilot - true Skywalker and also Solo that he is -, but he had no say in the matter.)

For both Ben and Rey, their journey is about letting go of childhood trauma and discovering their own independence. Ultimately it's about their pairing being both emotionally healing AND a balance in the force. They are a DYAD after all. I saw all this to say, he is her closest personal connection and impact through the 3 films. Leia is her master but we don't see that, it happened off camera.

Terrio says that the decision to have Rey take on the name “Skywalker” was a way to show that “you can choose your ancestry.” Which is not true and also a strange thing to say considering.

Which brings me to the correction of this tricky trail. Pay Adam Driver want he wants and reunite the dyad.
