Puppy! I was thrilled to find out that James had a dog of his own named Oscar. He’s a very handsome pooch, no?
My formal thanks to @dailyjameshunt for introducing me to this cutie! You can read more about him (and see his cute face kicking it with James) here!

Lovely press conference appearance by James in Fuji 1976
Transcript below the cut:
"It's very difficult for me to say it without driving both cars, but certainly the Ferrari has a better engine without any doubt, I'd prefer to have a ferrari engine. I think McLaren have maybe a small edge on the chassis sometimes – the chassis is almost as good – the chassis, you know, the car rather than the engine, the car rather than the engine – for corners, for handling, for going around corners.
On balance, the only way to judge is which car would you prefer to drive, and I suppose what I would really say is that I'd like to have a Ferrari but with a McLaren team looking after it."
"My impression of Niki Lauda is that he's fantastically brave, he's done a fantastic thing to recover like he did from his accident and to come back and to be driving, not only driving, but driving very well, is a really outstanding achievement and I have nothing but admiration for him.
In the Italian GP and also maybe in the Canadian, his confidence hadn't fully returned. Physically he was certainly fit, in Canada, but I talked to him before the American GP and when we went testing there he said it clicked, like that, and his confidence was back, and I'm sure in America he was driving as well as ever, and certainly he seems to be that way in himself."

James pretends he's about to grab Barbro Peterson's butt while Ronnie Peterson watches, 13 Jan 1974 at the Buenos Aires Grand Prix weekend. Photo by David Phipps. An extremely rare photo in which James is the most clothed person.

James with Jackie Stewart, Denny Hulme, Nelson Piquet, Juan Manuel Fangio, Ayrton Senna and Jack Brabham, at the Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide on 4 November 1990. By 1994, these men would have 19 WDC titles between them and three of them would be dead (Hulme, Hunt and Senna).

James and Niki, Hockenheim 1977. James had hosted Niki in his home in Spain for a few days beforehand.
I know this is a James blog but I'm adding in a bonus Niki today, as a treat.

James at Studio 54 in New York, with the model Pilar Goess, his second-favourite Austrian. His favourite is behind Ms Goess, chatting to someone wearing cute boots. 1 October 1978, photo by Ron Galella
James wrote about this trip to New York in his Autosport column that appeared in the 19 October issue.
After the race, Niki, Wattie, Bernie and myself flew 'Laudair' to New York for a few days of relaxation. I gather this trip has already been food for the fertile imaginations of the gossip columnists! On the Wednesday we all flew up to Montreal to find that Thursday's unofficial practice had been called off - we nearly returned to New York there and then!
