Mark your calendars because Kira Appreciation Week returns October 28-November 03 2023! We’ve got 4 weeks to prepare fic, gifs, edits, meta, and more to show our favorite kitsune some love!
To participate, simply create Kira-centric content during the week and use the tag #KiraWeek2023 and/or tag us in the post (@KiraYukimuraAppreciation)! Written works can also be submitted to the event’s Ao3 collection. See suggested prompts for inspiration below.
Writing Prompts:
Day 1, You Came Back: We never got to see it on screen, but Kira returns! When, how, why, where...you decide. Day 2, There's a Reason You Kept It: With particular focus on Kira's tails, today's a day to explore identity. What makes Kira who she is? How do kitsune attributes, like tails, interact with that identity? Day 3, They Did Something: Kira and family, friends, romantic partners…but what about the baddies? This prompt explores Kira’s relationship with villains on the show. Day 4, Trickster-or-Treat: Notoriously, kitsune are trickster spirits. Use this day to explore Kira’s mischievous side! Day 5, What if Wednesday: Missing scenes, AUs, fix-its, any idea born of the question “What if…?” Let your imagination run wild with possibilities. Day 6, History Echoes: In what ways do we see Kira's story/character connect to and/or parallel others in the show? Are there ways her life echoes Noshiko’s history? How might Kira’s present echo into her (indefinitely long) future? Day 7, It’s Alright to Cry: Today is about trauma exploration. We see Kira suffer a multitude of traumas, but we don't see the fallout. How is she affected? Where is the resolution?
Alternates:
Alt 1, Have you ever heard of something called a Kitsune?: What does lore say about kitsune and how would this impact to Kira? (Types of kitsune, relation to Oni or the wild hunt, foxes & wolves dynamic, tails, etc.) Alt 2, I Printed It Out: Anything relating to Kira and school or nerd!Kira. (Research, topics of interest, extracurriculars, etc.) Alt 3, My Family and I Moved Here Three Weeks Ago: All about Ken, Noshiko, and Kira as a Yukimura unit. (Family members we don't see in show, family dynamics, Kira's childhood...bring on the Yukimura family feels!)
Visual Prompts:
Day 1: Fav Scene(s) OR Kira + Kitsune Attributes (tails, fox spirit/aura, lightning, etc.) Day 2: Poetry, Lyrics, Quotes OR Significant Objects Day 3: Color/B&W OR Kira + Villains Day 4: Trickster!Kira OR Nerd!Kira Day 5: Dealer's Choice OR Lie-Ability (Use footage to Lie™ about what happens in canon--visual AU’s, fix-its, missing scenes, etc.) Day 6: Back in Style (Throw-back to any past editing style you miss.) OR Something New (Got an editing style you’re dying to try out? Go for it!) Day 7: Hurt/Comfort OR Parallels

hey :) can i ask for stuff from the mythology you talked about in infodump? or more specific things about how cyrinism is / can be expressed?
OH BOY CAN YOU
I'm going to talk about BOTH and this post is going to be SO long and you can't stop me
MYTHOLOGY
(Theft of the Moon, art by yours truly, 2024)
Overview
I'm just going to talk about the mythology for the POV culture because I cannot possibly go into the other ones without this becoming a whole-ass dissertation. So, just assume that everything that follows is specific to that culture/belief, though variations of it do definitely exist in other cultures in the world (including the variation I spoke about in the infodump channel; as it's not the exact one used in the story, I'll leave it for later).
To begin with, the various figures in the mythos are p much entirely represented by specific animals or general inhuman Creatures! Exactly how many figures there are depends on the specific subset of the religion, as there are regional variations, but the simplest and most widespread of them has only two: Cana and Korr.
At their base, they are the representations of the concept of opposites, in all the forms those take. Respectively, they are Sun and Moon, Day and Night, Light and Dark, Destroyer and Creator, Hunter and Hunted, Death and Life, Fool and Trickster and so on. Their most popular representations are of the Sun and Moon.
Cana, the Sun, is depicted as a canid of some kind; usually a dog, though occasionally a wolf or fox. The Moon, Korr, is naturally depicted as a cat, whether housecat or panther (or other big cat) depends on the teller, era, and locality.
A lot of superstitions revolve around these animals as a result; a dog, especially one with pale fur, was seen as a herald of disaster or drought, while a dark-furred cat was revered as a sign of good fortune. The opposites, ie a dark-furred dog or a pale-furred cat, had different meanings; the former a symbol of either betrayal or resistance, and the latter one of instability and change or triumph over evil. Dogs were unheard of as pets in the region until only a century or two before the modern day, and cats are still far more common.
The concept of light and heat as a harbinger of destruction and ill fortune is generally seen as having arisen from the unforgiving desert and savannah environment that the POV culture arose within. The country within which the story takes place, Havel, has grown more secular in recent decades, but some neighbouring countries that, unlike Havel, have not become as much of a cultural melting pot over time, still retain these beliefs as a significant part of daily life.
Creation Myth
In the beginning, there was only the Renn, or the Empty, a state of non-existence at the beginning and end of the Universe. The Renn was the absence of everything- it was not dark, nor light, it was simultaneously infinitely dense and containing no matter at all. It did, however, have a single imperfection: the point of collapse of the world before it, the tiniest seam in the Nothing that cloaked it. Time didn't yet exist again- the seam simply was, an antithesis to all that didn't exist around it. From the seam spread an Imbalance, and from there, two forms in symmetry, unfolding outwards and bringing with them Existence.
These forms were the original Twins, Cana and Korr, the light and the darkness. Like all things, they existed in opposition- one could not exist without the other, but they actively counteracted each others' existence. Cana's bright burning self forced Korr to protect himself, lest they were both destroyed. From the once-Renn around the, he surrounded himself in soil and stone, and settled there, within the delicate shell of the newborn World. There, in the safety of the dark, he created Life, and bided his time until he might emerge once more.
Night and Day, and the Theft of the Moon
For a long time, the sky was dominated by only Cana. The sun reigned over all, and daytime was eternal, leaving the world a scorched and lifeless place. Cana's shadowy twin, Korr, couldn't stand to emerge from beneath the ground lest he be destroyed by her light.
However, one day, he decided to try and speak with her. He waited until she was resting on the horizon, a rare moment where the heat and light wasn't so strong, and crept up to just beneath the surface, hiding in the shadows of a narrow cave. From there, he told her of all the wonders of life that were trapped below the earth from her heat, and if she could perhaps share the sky with him, they could emerge and she would no longer be alone within it.
Cana refused- she didn't trust her brother's tales, and she was afraid of the cool darkness he described. But Korr didn't relent, and eventually, they came to an agreement- she would hide herself for one minute, and allow her brother alone to emerge and walk the surface for that time, no longer. But Korr was cunning, and as she hid, now blind without her own fire, he snuck through the shadows and snatched a piece of her light.
Furious, she gave chase to burn him back beneath the earth, but despite how his stolen light burnt in his mouth, Korr didn't stop running, and shadow fell over the earth in his wake, becoming night.
Here, the story differs according to the telling. Some say that the moon is that stolen light still held in Korr's teeth, trapped in an eternal chase through the sky. Others say that he tried to hide it, and it burned half of him away, becoming his pale twin Pyrrhus, running as the moon alongside him in the night. Either way, the ending is the same: the siblings continue to chase, and day continues to turn to night, and with just a little less light burning from Cana's paws, life was able to emerge and grow.
Another variant of the story, central within Havel's Church of the Blind Creator, tells that Korr was blinded by his stolen light and swallowed it, causing his descendants, Cyrin, still to burn from the inside. Most Cyrin's tendency to easily overheat, often resulting in harm to themselves, is the reasoning for the latter. This is in contrast to the primary telling of Cyrin's origins, which says that in revenge for Korr's betrayal, Cana cursed/blessed (depending on the teller's opinion) some of his proudest creations, humans, with her fire and strength, and those were the first Cyrin. To some, this painted Cyrin as harbingers of loss and destruction; to others, gifted ones tasked with using Cana's power for good and new creation.
-- -- --
This is getting really long, so I'll make a new post for Cyrinism later and tag you so you see it. Thanks for asking!!! Please feel free to ask any further questions or clarification on anything I've talked about here :]
#wowie this got long#but yeah the idea of the sun as a destroying force and the night as a creative one had a very large impact#especially with the whole concept of being most creative at midnight haha#fun fact: it was also believed that conceiving a child during the day meant that they would be born a Cyrin#and it was thus 'safer' to do so at night#windrambles#storystuff

amanda the adventurer and fairies (if you even care)
imo we're too focused on christian mythos with all the demons and sacrificial lambs, and forgetting the very pointed celtic mythology cues in this narrative and I'm here to be the change I wanna see in the world, so let's go!
game spoilers below, you know the deal uwu
I think the biggest hint that we should not get hung up on Christian mythology, is the fact that in the very introduction with the letter by Aunt Kate, she pointed says "by the gods." Not "by God", gods plurals. We're to take a polytheistic angle with this, but which exactly is nebulous at first.
Behind the Catching Up With Colton news clipping, there's news about a Celtic relic, the crown of the stag, being stolen, and suspicion of a gang called the Demons. This was pointed out as an easter egg from another game, but I feel there's more to it.
For the most obvious lead, there's the Pied Piper theory for Hameln entertainment, which is a fairytale. In the Coffee Break tape, we see how Sam wanted to "show the world is a magical place" which I do believe he meant as just that, being optimistic as he's characterized, but that's also a lot of settings in fairytales. There's the known world and the fantastical, magical world. And to expand on that, the setting of the story being limited to a single city and community instead of being something with a broader reach matches the usual setting of a fairytale being restricted to a single village or town. Not that unlike the Pied Piper story itself, set in the city of Hamelin.
If you really want to squint at it, things such as baking and sending cookies as a form of thanks, while pretty common daily life things are also linked to rituals to pacify the fey and offer thanks to magical beings. Cookies and pies are also incredibly common baked goods in fairytales, and for instance, the tale of Hansel and Gretel has a house of candies that lure them inside, to a witch who would fatten them up and eat them. While sweets are present in the tapes, they are often exchanged for pieces of meat and organs, almost as if they are interchangeable.
Bringing it back to the Celtic Relic clipping, there's a long explanation that the crown was given as a peace promise between the Fey and the human kings. As such, let's take a look at Celtic mythology.
Foxes in myth are messengers between worlds and are often connected to the afterlife. Also, foxes are often portrayed as fey-aligned creatures, due to their mischievous and cunning nature. Also to go broader than that, there are the myths of Reynard the Fox, a trickster spirit in folktales across Europe that often coexists with Isengrim the Wolf. It's also a common trope that foxes can shapeshift.
Picking a fox to die in a hidden bear trap is quite symbolic in itself. The fairytale character who outwits all and escapes the most difficult situations has been bested, not only defeated but killed. "Silly Mr. Fox" can not only be a display that there is no clever way out of this trap, but also that traveling between worlds is impossible or will kill you.
Now to the "Lonely Kitten", she's clearly representative of Rebecca, caught in a trap as well and without help in sight. When you try to help her, you end up as one more hanging piece of meat. Cats however are more deeply connected to fairies than foxes, with myths like the Cat-sìth which steal souls from the deceased and can curse folks who won't pacify them. One is even described as "the king of cats." While these cats are described as big as dogs, and black with a spot of white on their chests, choosing a cat is quite the artistic choice.
As for Wooly, sheep have in christian mythos the symbolism of the sacrificial lamb and so on, but let's take a look at Celtic tradition.
In Irish myth, the goddess Brigid (associated with wisdom, poetry, healing, protection, smithing and domesticated animals) was the owner of Cirb, a castrated ram who was king of all the rams and sheep of Ireland. Brigid was one of the Tuatha Dé Danann, a group of gods that became the Aen Seidhe. The fairies.
Furthermore, Cirb rules even over the seven sheep that belong to Manannán, a warrior god and ruler of the Otherworld, a realm of gods and the dead. He's responsible for keeping it hidden with a veil of invisibility, and it has been pointed out that at least two of the demons Rebecca is made to recite the names of are also granters of invisibility. Not only that, these sheep were fabled to produce enough wool to clothe every man, woman, and child the world over.
In a crossroads of christian and pagan, there's a myth that animals gain the power of speech after the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve, including sheep. On most stories, it can only happen when they are observed and are unknowingly overheard by humans. There's also the common trope that children can hear the voice of animals while adults cannot, as a show of the magic of innocence.
I can't quite especulate much beyond this, but I think there's something to chew on here.

hold on are Reynard and Lavender the fox and the goat from aesop's fables?
Okay first of all thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about my OC children who I have not thought about in so long, it is an honor, and second, here are the allusions! They aren't Aesop's fables, but they are folklore:
Daily is Reynard the Fox, a trickster character from medieval European literature who upends power structures through guile and mischief.
Lavender is one of the three Billy Goats Gruff from the Norwegian fairytale of the same name, about three goat siblings who outwit a bridge-troll. The twist in her allusion is that she ultimately finds herself stranded under a bridge and turned into a monster in the eyes of her birth family.
Thank you so much for the ask!

But First they Must Catch you
Summary:
Evolution is a proven theory on how life survives and develops. Quirks have since twisted the very concept having these evolutionary traits on those that never was supposed to have. Fangs, claws, with sneers and scales. But those that aren't the fittest will fizzle out as outsiders isolated from society to be hidden away. No longer seen as humans but instead as the beast they appear and Izuku Midoriya is one of those. But he refuses to be on the bottom of the food chain and is going to prove he has what it takes to be on top.
Characters: Middle-schooler Izuku Midoriya(as a Rabbit morph HEAVY ON ANIMAL APPEARANCE quirk), Bakugou Katsuki (Bully), And Hisashi Midoriya (AFO as concerned dad)
Relationships: It's Complicated Status for all
Tags: Bullying, Rabbit meanies and belittling with Izuku trying to prove who he is as a person.
Evolution is the theory of how life survives passing on inheritable traits to their offspring for the best chance of survival.
It is a scientific study that has persisted for centuries against nay sayers but there are things it can't predict. The origin of life is something it can not tell us nor tell us who is the common ancestor of all life, dubbed Luca.
And we certainly could not have predicted humans taking abilities that animals have honed for centuries just to survive.
The sharp teeth of a reptile on a human head meant for a carnivore struggling to eat. The claws of a feline meant for felling prey have become clumsy for daily life.
These traits were created with the intent of survival in the wild honed for centuries for the fittest. Yet these 'evolved' humans were most known for having the highest death rate among quirk users.
Society was slow to adapt to these individuals the most. Fire, strength, muscles, flash? The users still had a human trait, there was familiarity in them. Even certain animal traits humans were blessed with only abilities but not appearance besides an ear and tail.
Those are the lucky one that society accepts as their heroes.
The unlucky ones bodies have become unfamiliar, foreign even that many businesses would shut their doors to them. Look at them with fear as if they were no longer human but monsters.
The glowing yellow eyes in the dark were a beast trying to kill rather then a teenage girl just walking down the street in the dark. A greeting filled with teeth was a threat that was sizing up their prey. Many incidences born from fear have ended in the tragedy of civilians attacking them so many death.
Too terrified to consider the monster they see might in fact be a child screaming.
But when there is fear there are also those that will instead look down upon those that have such 'traits'. Bias that are formed based on the animals they perceive.
A mouse was seen as meek and someone who was irresponsible. A boar is an aggressive creature only ready to fight. A rock head is an idiot, a chicken is a bird's brain, and a fox is a seductress or trickster.
And a bunny is a weak, helpless creature nothing more then the source of sex appeal representing innocence for any gaze.
The very creature that Izuku had been born as. Blind, mute, and utterly helpless covered in fur was how he was born into the world. Dark green fur covered most of his body his hands and feet were paws only his face had any trace of his humanity.
His father in that moment seemed to have realized what exactly he had done staring at the helpless being. Whose face doesn't match his body as if it couldn't decide who exactly he was.
This is the story of Izuku Midoriya. A rabbit Heteromorph born to two non-heteromorph parents and the trials he has to face to prove he isn't the creature he seems.
_______________
Izuku is now four years old.
No he is no longer blind or mute. His legs were strong making him faster then other kids his age. Able to jump higher when the average person uses it to easily jump up into his fathers arm.
He was happy, and content. He didn't think he was different from the others those first few years.
He was strong and lively with a strong desire to be a hero. With stars in his eyes and pep in his step he didn't think anything can stop him as he chased after his friends.
Well... Until the Bakugou started to point it out.
"Did you know Rabbits can die of loneliness?" Bakugou spoke with a grin at this little fun fact. Izuku blinked as he was part of the group looking startled as he had said that while looking at him.
"Woah really? So does that mean Midoriya might die if we stop hanging out with him?" One of the kids seemed really amused by that with a giddy grin.
"Oh wow that's so sad! You know a lot Bakugou!" The other one spoke with excitement and glee at this fact. Izuku shifts not liking the fact they seemed to be associating him with a real bunny rabbit.
"U-Um, guys I'm not really a rabbit," Izuku protested as he didn't know if that was true or not. But he didn't think he could die.
"Of course you are, Deku!" Bakugou barked with a grin clear on his face as walks over to him to grab one of his ears. "I mean you literally have the ears and you're so fluffy and round what else WOULD you be?"
"O-Ow! Kacchan that hurts," Izuku could feel even if the other wasn't tugging on it just his ear being held like that was painful.
"Wow! That hurt? I barely touched it, god you're such a baby bunny," Bakugou and the other kids snickered as he released his ear. Izuku couldn't help but tear up practically shrinking as they didn't care how uncomfortable he was with this topic.
"Y'know you would think that since you have such a quirk you be awesome. But all we ever seen you do is just be very good at running away in tag," Bakugou noted as if puzzled his quirk hadn't come in yet. "When mine comes in I bet it's going to be super awesome! Much better then a bunny that hops."
The other kids laughed and then made a rabbit gesture clearly all of them seeming to be enjoying themselves at Izuku's expense. "Hop hop!"
Izuku had to keep himself quiet as they spent the rest of the day messing with him about being a rabbit. Becoming more mean if he even tries to protest the idea of being an actual bunny rabbit. This was the first time he didn't tell his parents how his day was...
Then Bakugou's quirk came in. Nature seemed to have favored him as all the right conditions had aligned.
Izuku was excited and happy for him. Staring with bright eyes when he saw the sparks in the hands of his childhood friend. As those eyes looked at him he expected just gloating.
"Now you never got to be terrified of a thing when I'm a hero," Bakugou gloats with the kind of cockiness of someone that has everything. As if the fact Izuku had mentioned that he also wanted to be a hero. That all those times they both were excited to watch All Might, the times they tried to meet him... Just didn't exist.
Maybe he just forgot? Izuku tried to rationalize it knowing they'd been teasing him as a weak rabbit but it's still a cool quirk!
Izuku kept quiet until they were all leaving home. But his own dad was likely to be a bit late so he tried to tag along with Bakugou on a walk home.
"U-Um Kacchan! Wait," he shouts as he runs over to his best friend excited and nervous.
"Oh hey Deku! Want to see more of my new quirk?" Kacchan questioned with a grin clear on his face. Izuku felt a bit awkward shifting in place not exactly wanting to make the other mad but he didn't want a misunderstanding!
"U-Um I appreciate you wanting to be my hero and all but I also want to be a hero also. We can be heroes together tho!" Izuku felt like that would be a lot better looking at the other with excitement. It would be so cool! They could both be heroes-
"Are you joking?" Kacchan's expression seemed to turn into anger his fist clenched as he stared at him angered. As if the other had insulted him and said the worst thing he ever heard practically shaking with anger and he shoves the other hard, "I wouldn't want to work with a bunny!"
The sudden rough gesture made him fall on his ass earning a loud yelp as he landed on his tail. Tears in his eyes as Bakugou looked down at him so angry for reasons Izuku doesn't understand.
"W-Why not!? I can do stuff," Izuku protested only for the male to suddenly let off sparks making him tense wondering what he was doing.
"Oh shut up! Just stay there and don't bother me!" Kacchan shouted as he turned on his heels and ran off leaving him there... Alone.
Izuku's vision blurred wondering what he had done to even make him so mad. He thought they would both be heroes together yet the other seemed so mad. Is it really because he was a rabbit? A weak and fluffy thing that is easily startled?
He couldn't bring himself to move, just sitting on the side of the road near the school unsure of what to do. He stayed there for hours neither returning to school nor going home afraid of Bakugou seeing him and getting madder.
"Izuku, there you are!" his father came over running as he scooped him up unable to even protest, "we thought you went home with Bakugou."
There is a moment of silence as he curls in his father's arm his hands moving to his feet. He didn't wear any shoes as he didn't like any of the ones most had but suddenly he felt like they were wrong. Soft in his hand able to feel the dirt and debris in them as he tears up.
"I'm sorry," was all he could say as the man looked down at him. Feeling so exposed and vulnerable, scared even as if even his own dad would be ashamed of him.
"You have nothing to be sorry for..." was all the man said as gently brushes his hand through his son's head brushing those ears in that gentle manner. "My baby boy won't you tell me what's wrong? Can't I help?"
If only Izuku could have hoped that maybe he could make up with Kacchan...
__________________
Instead it got worse.
It started when many of the other kids started getting their quirks. Kacchan was the only one who had such a powerful one that all the others listened to him. He was going to be number one and the very best.
And he made it clear that no one was better then him. Normal, but he had also made another thing clear...
"Especially not some dumb rabbit," it was in that moment. Izuku realized their friendship was over for something he still didn't know he had done.
Being singled out had made him a priah of sorts. He was the only rabbit quirked student and while others had some unique features his was the only animal like one. And those that stand out are to be squashed down as he entered Aldera it became clear where he stood.
"Ugh look at those feet? Is he bare foot?" One spoke. And he got red shoes to hide his feet.
"He can't even hold a pen right. Look at those hands." He starts forcing himself to try and hold it 'normally' despite his hands being different.
"He has white chest hair gross!" He tries to hide the fur tuff on his chest trying so hard to make it small to the point he has tried to shave it off.
"Look at that tail! I want to touch it!" Despite his discomfort he now shoves his tail in his pants refusing the normal modification.
"Ew I heard rabbits are like super horny do you think he's trying to hit on me?" He stopped talking to people in general knowing they might assume the worst.
What had once just been another trait was now a beacon for ridicule. He was a freak, a beast in school but also a weak and helpless rabbit who won't and can't fight back.
While Bakugou only began to thrive as his quirk instead of being mocked was praised.
"That's so cool and powerful!" Bakugou would use his quirk casually and be allowed despite the rules.
"He's so smart our prized student!" Teachers would praise him even if Izuku was highly scored it never even got noticed. He wasn't the face they wanted.
"You know he may be a jerk but man he has confidence!" While if Izuku tries to even defend himself everyone sneers at him while Bakugou is stared at with admiration and envy.
There was a mountain that divided him from where Bakugou stood. Standing on top as he looks down at everyone and seems to almost dare him to try and knock him off.
He knew he couldn't just accept this because his odds weren't hopeless.
Because rabbits aren't as helpless as they might appear and a rabbit will devour meat like a predator when the need arises. It's because he's a rabbit he knows this.
He couldn't take this forever and finally he couldn't anymore.
BASH!
It happened suddenly in the middle of PE they were supposed to be doing dodgeball and most of the time Izuku just dodges or taps out early to avoid dragging it out. But today his 'instincts' were screaming at him to fight back. Staring down at Bakugou on the opposing side he did something no one else could have done.
He caught the others ball and very quickly bashed him in the face with his quick reflex. Watching the male actually be thrown back from the force as likely never expected such a change in behavior. The man fell right on his ass and Izuku can't deny it felt GOOD to show the guy what for.
And to say Bakugou was pissed would be an understatement as after the initial shock those eyes said murder in them.
"Hey foul! Midoriya get off the field right now!" Of course was the one that Izuku got in trouble for 'excessive' violence as if they didn't over look when bakugou gets carried away.
Izuku didn't care. No one cared about him, no one looked at him and as he stared at Bakugou when he got benched he knows... He won't allow this to go unanswered.
And that's fine he was going to make sure the school knew that even if he was a weak rabbit. He will become a hero.
Regardless of what it takes he won't be on the bottom of the food chain. This little 'rabbit' is going to take on the 'lion'.
And he ain't backing down without a fight!

which dnd class are you?
vivi: ranger.
You’re a thoughtful and resourceful person who likes to observe the world around you. You feel at peace when surrounded by nature and might feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed by busy places like bustling cities. You might have some very specialized skills that aren’t often relevant to daily life, but are incredibly helpful in the right situation. You’re practical and an explorer at heart.
subclass: beast master.
Beast Master rangers develop a close bond with a beast, then further strengthen that bond through the use of magic. You love animals and likely crave the close bond of an animal companion (if you don’t already have one). You’re a compassionate person who doesn’t mind taking care of others when needed. You may not have a large circle of friends and acquaintances, but you form very close bonds with those you let into your inner circle. You do some of your best work when you can do it working together with someone you know you can trust.
mal: wizard.
You love to learn, whether in a traditional academic setting or on your own. You definitely look before you leap and you may spend so much time coming up with a plan (or five) that you never actually get around to leaping at all. You work best when you’ve had time to prepare. You love getting to the heart of something and really understanding it on a deeper level. You may not be the strongest physically, but few can match your sharp mind.
subclass: school of abjuration.
The School of Abjuration emphasizes magic that blocks, banishes, or protects. Detractors of this school say that its tradition is about denial, negation rather than positive assertion. You understand, however, that ending harmful effects, protecting the weak, and banishing evil influences is anything but a philosophical void. You’re a naturally protective person and you prefer to deal with your problems quickly and effectively rather than letting them sit and get worse. You may have a bit of a paranoid or suspicious side, always keeping an eye out in case something goes wrong, and forming a ton of contingency plans for every potential situation. You like to feel helpful, even if you’re not immediately recognized for your contributions. There is a subtle bravery in you and you are not afraid to stand up for what you feel is right if you feel like the situation calls for it.
lara: rogue.
You’re a practical and unusually resourceful person with big dreams that may or may not involve copious amounts of money or treasure. You’re ambitious, you know what you want, and you’ll do whatever you can to get it. Some people might think you’re selfish, but you know it’s important to take care of yourself first. You thrive under pressure and you might have a bit of a mischievous or chaotic side.
subclass: arcane trickster.
Some rogues enhance their fine-honed skills of stealth and agility with magic, learning tricks of enchantment and illusion. You’re an adaptable person who likes to cultivate a range of skills and interests. Once you decide to pick up a new skill or hobby, you’re more than willing to put in a little time and effort to learn how to do it well. You like to feel competent and powerful. You’re not always the most direct person and you may sometimes hide your true thoughts and feelings behind lies or misdirection. Some people might not know what to expect of you, or you might be a bit misunderstood, but you’re capable of a lot more than some people give you credit for.
fox: rogue
You’re a practical and unusually resourceful person with big dreams that may or may not involve copious amounts of money or treasure. You’re ambitious, you know what you want, and you’ll do whatever you can to get it. Some people might think you’re selfish, but you know it’s important to take care of yourself first. You thrive under pressure and you might have a bit of a mischievous or chaotic side.
subclass: swashbuckler
You focus your training on the art of the blade, relying on speed, elegance, and charm in equal parts. While some warriors are brutes clad in heavy armor, your method of fighting looks almost like a performance. Duelists and pirates typically belong to this archetype. You’re a confident person with a charming personality. People often find you likeable or easy to get along with and you probably have a distinct sense of style. You know where your strengths lie and you’re not shy about demonstrating your talents. You’re a resilient person with a knack for easily bouncing back from difficult situations.

Naming conventions among the foxfolk
Among the foxes of the five villages, names are a significant part of one’s identity. Preferences vary to the point that it is said that one can identify the village a stranger was born in based on their name alone. While generally true, this is not a hard and fast rule, as the names of family members often share the same theme, even long after they have moved away from their original home.
A fox is given their name on the day of their birth. Usually it is based on a plant (such as Ivy, Sorrel, or Linden) or a biome (Fen, Steppe, or Taiga). Some names invoke cunning or a trickster (Robin, Puck, Floki, or Renerd), or the color red (Cinnabar, Rust, Rouge). Unique among the foxes whose lineage hails from the village of Silverdeep is choosing names based on rocks, minerals, and gemstones (Opal, Karst, Flint). There are some names whose origins are not known, and are connected to the precursors (Rail, Volt, Valve). As the Great Lake is a place the foxes fear, names based on water are rare, but a few do exist (Playa, Brook, Delta).
Last names are rarely used in daily life, and are usually only brought up when marriage is concerned (incest is a big no-no). Examples of last names include Quillwort, Tor, Longbank, and Wright.
Titles and suffixes can reflect the deeds one did (Freya Lake-runner), their position in society (Opal Tha), a characteristic or trait the individual wishes to convey (Laurel the Steadfast), or a term of endearment (Fen of a thousand stories).

MEDIUMS AND TRICKSTERS FROM 19TH CENTURY
Fits within my idea that there is a higher entity or higher Power in charge of things and this is just to give me ideas of similar ideals and ideas of that and what is the deal with my entity, why is it there. Where in reality probably their minds just seeing things out of focus from their eyes.
The Fox Sisters
Eva Carriere
Mina Crandon
OPINION _ It is interesting how the things we see on a daily basis can easily be warped, shifted and changed including the things we hear; just because our minds can't understand it and then we try to blame it on the most absurd of thing just to try and at least pull some essence of logic to it. But also this idea could work with mine and add extra layers to it. Cause think about this being stalked or watched within a crowed area you tend not to notice it as well "so many people" and to be fair you're more worried about your own little world and what needs to be done and that is also what I want to capture within this idea, that feeling of being watched despite not quite realising it.

RACES
[YOKAI] You’re a Yokai, one of the various mythological beings of Japanese folklore. Choose an option below for specifics but in general, you will take a human form or you can take the option to be of a feral variety of your chosen Yokai species to reduce the cost by half. If you take this option with Hanyo you will be like Shinenji, appearing monstrous outside the night of the Full Moon.
[KITSUNE] Kitsune, Fox Spirits. In Yokai terms this describes those of the fox family which do not serve a god. Take for example Shippo and his father. They are tricksters and Pyrokinetics by heart but older Kitsune can be quite powerful. A Daiyokai would have nine tails and be roughly on that level. If given Miko-like powers, a Kitsune will generally be stronger than their equivalent without them.
[DAIYOKAI] Remember all those mentions of Daiyokai? Yeah, this is an upgrade for all Yokai and can be purchased by Hanyo. Basically, take the prize of your choice and double for the total cost. What does this get you? Well for starters you become roughly twice as powerful as normal, you can change into an animal form, a massive one though your age will certainly limit your size.
LOCATION
[INU NO TAISHO’S GRAVE] This is strange, no living being should come here, and you certainly can’t get out that easily. This is the final resting place of Inu no Taisho, the mightiest Inu Daiyokai to ever live. His remains (the size of a FREAKING MOUNTAIN) are the resting place of Tessaiga, the most offensive (not in that way unless you mind swords made of dog fangs) sword on the planet. Also, there is a Shikkon no Tama shard here.
PERKS
[BARRIER DEMON] Creating Barriers is a useful ability to have. While not as powerful you are an expert at Barrier making on par with Naraku, making them as easy to create a breathing. Your power will determine how resistant to damage these barriers are, naturally, but don’t expect barrier-piercing attacks to be reflected unless you got some sort of Universe-level Powerlevel or something.
[BASIC MEDICINE] You have a basic understanding of how to prepare medicine and treat wounds using materials available in these lands to a degree that would make “Doctors” in the West shout witchcraft.
[COMBAT PROWESS] A basic fact of these times you find yourself in, sadly, is that fighting for your life is a daily routine for most of the population, whether human or supernatural. This era is known as the Sengoku Jidai, the Warring States Era, in later years for a reason, you know? But don’t worry, you can rely on your prowess as a warrior to see you through these times! This Perk grants you prowess in the use of two traditional, Japanese weapons, such as the Katana (Sword), Yari (Spear) or Yumi (Bow). This can be purchased a second time to either gain proficiency in another 2 weapons on the same level, gain actual mundane levels of mastery of said weapons, or to specialize in a more specialized/unusual weapon of the same kind (Nodachi for Katana or Naginata for Yari for example).
[COMMANDING AIR] You can be the biggest brat of a lord in all of Japan and still, you command respect and subservience. You breathe intimidation and bear the sheer extent of how capable you are on your sleeve. Your strength alone can bring thousands of Yokai or Samurai to their knees as long as you are stronger than them and they’ll follow you into the bowels of hell and even come when called even if you just want to demonstrate your newest toy.
[DIVINE PASS] The divine can pass to many places such as the afterlife and paradise. Regardless of what pantheon exists or not, you may enter between the world of the living, dead and divine in any world you visit freely.
[ENDLESS WANDERING] You know how large Japan is? It may not look like it, but going through the Japanese countryside in this time era would be torture for most people! Thankfully you have this perk! For free it doubles your endurance when wandering on foot or Bicycle, for 100 on the other hand it gives you infinite stamina and endurance while moving on foot and the ability to do so for 24 hours straight with a human powered vehicle, such as a bicycle.
[FEROCIOUS FANGS] Like Toga the Inu no Taisho you possess tremendous power within your fangs. Should one be removed they can be forged into powerful weapons by an expert Blacksmith such as Totosai. Your personal Power will naturally determine how powerful the blade becomes, but this Perk on it’s own will guarantee it to be at least on par with Tokeshin in power and to have one ability appropriate to it. Daiyokai can with this Perk naturally make some real bullshit similar to Tessaiga and Tensaiga, obviously, and the outer edges of the galaxy are the limit as far as potential goes. Any teeth taken will regrow in a week.
[LESS WORRIES] Feudal Japan doesn’t exactly have a lot of areas to take a dump. This Perk ensures you won’t suffer accidents as you’ll never suffer from needing to take a piss or a dump, so to speak, until you are already in position for it in a bathroom.
[PURIFICATION] Whether by holiness or the power of your Yoki, you are capable of driving out corruption from objects. As long as this corruption, supernatural in nature, is not greater than the evils a person may impart upon the Shikkon no Tama, you can purify it. Naturally, as you grow stronger so will also your scope of purification capabilities.
[RAPID LEARNER] Learning is not a simple matter of desire, it is a necessity. To learn fast is to survive and no other can learn as fast as you in these lands. Whether it be studying, from experience or by practice, you can absorb knowledge and skill at a rate 5 times greater than before. If you buy this multiple times the multipliers are stacked linearly, so 5+5+5 instead of multiplicatively.
[TIMELESS LINGUISTICS] Isn’t it odd when your future boyfriend from 500 years in the past understands your 20th century Japanese? Because it sure is, it’s like there is an author who doesn’t understand lingual drift that occurs over 500 years, no matter how isolated a nation is. Well, you don’t have to worry about that. As long as you know one variant of a language you can communicate with anyone who has another variant of the same language, even if it shouldn’t work.
[TOTOSAI'S APPRENTICE] Who knew that Totosai had another student? You are a skilled blacksmith, able to forge powerful, balanced and enchanted eapons with ease. If given the bone or fang of a still living, supernatural entity you can even forge powerful mythical weapons similar to Tessaiga or Tensaiga, though the quality and power will vary by material origin. Don’t worry about being possessed though, it won’t be an issue.
[TRAINGING PEAK] To train is to grow stronger. To grow stronger is to gain a survival advantage over the competition. And you my friend can positively compare to the likes of certain Shonen Anime not related to this one, or a certain gender fluid Anime of the same author. All training you conduct will now progress 5 times faster with your physical training bearing fruit as long as you place effort into it, and naturally to grow stronger more and more you need to train harder, though it will take only 20% as much time for the same results. Naturally this applies to systems of growth composed of numerical values too. If you buy this multiple times the multipliers are stacked linearly, so 5+5+5 instead of multiplicatively.
[UNCAPPED POTENTIAL] Most people reach the peak of their possible capabilities at some point, when they plateau in their growth. You do not suffer this fate. You can choose one perk, ability or skill you possess and put it into a “Slot”. As long as it stays in this slot you can make it become more powerful and versatile by repeatedly making an effort to push the limits of the ability, such as attempting to use a Perk capable of mind reading 10 people on 11, then 12 and so on. After every second Jump (Gauntlets not included) which lasts at least 10 years, you gain an additional slot to use this with.
[YOKAI POTENTIAL] You have the power of Yokai within you, any power common among your species or Yokai in general, such as Shapeshifting for Kitsune or claw beams such as used by Inuyasha, can be performed with this Perk. It also means you possess Yoki, essentially the Yokai equivalent of Reiki or spiritual energy, which fuels abilities for Yokai including transformations and attacks.
ITEMS
[WARDROBE] A full wardrobe including all manner of clothing found in the Sengoku Jidai and the modern era, yes this includes underwear, but not magical attributes, sorry. But at least this isn’t a cumbersome wardrobe, it is more of a pocket dimension. You can summon all the articles of clothing onto yourself. For an additional 50 CP this includes mundane armor pieces common in Japan as well as Western clothes.
[WEAPON] Now you may wonder what this is about. This is a weapon for which you must choose the prize dear Jumper, what else? For Free this is a mundane, non-powered weapon such as a Katana, Yumi or Yari, no you can’t have a Banryu-style “Cloud Strife and Sword Kirby ask for thier “BFS Guy” Title Back” Halberd. For 100 CP instead this is a weapon with two abilities to be chosen from the Weapon Customization Menu down below. You can buy additional abilities for 50 additional CP per extra ability. This cannot be a firearm and if it is a Yumi, aka a bow, it will impart it’s offensive traits onto an arrow fired. Yes Hirakotsu works for this as a basis. You can buy multiple instances of this item with power pools separated.
[BAG OF TRICKS] A Infinite bag full of various tools and toys such as small bombs that can be infused with Yoki for more powerful blasts, leafs perfect for Illusion Magic and enabling shapeshifting, various toys that can give the illusory impression of pain or weight, as well as magical mushrooms and acorns for communication or throwing at enemies. Your own strength determines the effectiveness of this.
[ARMOR OF A NOBLE RULER] This set of Yokai derived armor is reminescent of Toga’s, the Inu no Taisho, personal armor and is able to protect the wearer from most attacks as it’s durability scales with the user. The armor will disintegrate if transformed into a form too large for it and features two trailing fur “Tails” along the shoulders.
[WEAPON: HEALING NEGATION] You know that annoying ability many beings have? The ability to regenerate? Yeah, fuck that shit. Your weapon can now inflict wounds that cannot be healed with self-regeneration, neat right?
[WEAPON: ONLY MINE] Your weapon can only be used by you and no one else. If someone were to pick it up to cut someone they'd find it does about as much damage as a pool noodle, if they can even pick it up at all.
[HINEZUMI COAT] A coat made of the hide of a Firerat similar to Inuyasha’s Kimono. This Item can be added to any article of clothing to add it’s nature to that item and grant it fire repelling effects along with greater durability and damage resistance, making it better for protection.
[PRAYER SLIPS] A bag containing at all times 100 paper slips depicting prayer to the Buddha or Shinto Gods. Beyond being simply used for prayer these papers are potent weapons against Yokai, able to seal their powers and drain them of energy as well as ward them off and exorcise evil spirits if used correctly. Comes with the knowledge on how to use them, refills to full if the bag is closed.
[WARLORD] Less of an item and more of a title with a lot of land. You have control of a Japanese province-sized territory rich in resources and with a central castle as your stronghold. The residents of this territory are loyal to you and see you as their rightful ruler and either Patron or even god, depending on what type of race you are. This may be a historical province or a patch of land that may not be found in modern Japan. Additional purchases of this item will grant equally sized adjacent provinces as your territory.
[BAG OF FOOD] This is a large duffle bag made of canvas inside of which one can see a large lunchbox. Regardless of what mundane food the holder wants, when this box is opened it will hold exactly what they had desired, no matter what it is. Furthermore, more boxes will be found inside when you don’t look with them being stacked three high even when observed. The boxes themselves, when emptied or no longer needed, will disappear instantly. Includes any sauces, garnish and Soy sauce needed as well as spices.
[MIGHTY FANG] This is a Fang from a powerful Daiyokai, a perfect material for a sword or to integrate into a pre-existing weapon through reforging. This Item can be used by a Blacksmith to make a powerful Yokai weapon, such as Tessaiga, Tensaiga or other such weapons, by a skilled craftsmen, such as Totosai or, if you have the skills, by yourself. You can choose 5 abilities from the weapon customization options below to give the resulting weapon. Slot Count doesn’t apply.
DRAWBACKS
[SIBLING RIVALRY] You have an older sibling who is superior to you in power, skill and experience. They have stronger versions of all your perks from this Jump and will feel entitled to everything you obtained in this Jump and some things you carried over from previous ones. Essentially, this is your Sesshomaru. They won’t always attack or try to kill you, aiming for humiliation for the most part to show dominance.
[THE LONG WAY DOWN] You don’t start a day after the Shikon no Tama was shattered, you start around the time of the 11th century, or when Inuyasha was born. You can’t leave until the Shikon no Tama has been destroyed.
[LONG HAUL] You’ll be stuck here until you reach the modern era. And I mean by the long way, living from the Sengoku Jidai until Kagome travels back in time, you understand? I hope you got some longevity going Jumper. That’s 500 years at least.
FUTURE
[INTO THE WELL] Move Along, take 200 and get outta here! You move to the next jump in this chain, because why would you stop here?

ATTABOY!
kitsune au bachira
gender neutral reader
Bachira first reveals himself to you not in his true form, but rather, he comes to you in the form of a playful fox. The priests and sacred maidens in the shrines always advised you to treat animals with kindness and reverence, no matter how inconvenient they might be, as they were all envoys of the gods. All forms of life were to be treated with respect and mercy, and while you considered yourself to be a fairly obedient worshiper, this particular fox seemed to hold quite the attachment towards you. You didn’t think much of him at first, only assuming him to be an odd furball, but you were quickly proven wrong.
It’s impossible to miss Bachira as a fox. His sheer black fur sparkles and shimmers brilliantly under the sunlight, and its dark color provides the perfect cover for him to slink around when it’s dark. The underside of his face is streaked with patches of yellow that remind you of the glimpses you would steal at rich people’s gold accessories, and the fox always trots after you once you start up a habit of pampering him with spare snacks and a generous amount of pats. He loves swatting at your ankles or biting your fingers playfully, constantly vying for your attention no matter how busy you might be.
You would have never imagined the boyish creature that was more of your pet than an actual fox would be more than what he made himself out to be. Bachira reveals his true form to you during your hour of need—almost like a reward for your diligence and altruism towards him. Just when you think you have no way out, the trickster-like animal disappears in a cloud of smoke. When a gentle yet reassuring hand clamps down on your shoulder and an oddly familiar figure emerges from the darkness, the streaks of honey-gold in his hair is absolutely unmistakable. This is your dear fox in the flesh. Only he isn’t a fox; he’s a kitsune.
Bachira becomes so much more playful once he’s revealed his true form to you, and while he has to be more careful about showing himself to you, he visits much more frequently than he might have beforehand. He makes sure to only pop up whenever he knows you’re alone. His favorite is spooking you in his fox form in daytime, trailing after you while he tries to steal your attention as many times as he can, and letting you unwind in his lap once the two of you are alone together at night. You’re one of the rare humans that he allows to touch his plentiful tails, and he giggles as if it tickles when your hands travel a bit too close to the base.
A god like him doesn’t have any need for sleep, but there’s something so intimate and sweet about holding you in his arms as the moon makes its daily journey across the star-speckled sky. It’s his way of keeping you safe and within his reach, caring for you as if you were his little pet this time around. He loves wrapping you up in his soft tails, cradling you close to his chest while you doze off. Bachira adores knowing that he’s the last person you see when you close your eyes and that he’s also the first one you see when you open your eyes the next morning. He’ll always be there to greet you with a wide grin and a daring bite at your nose. Even when you grumble and swat at his arms, Bachira never fails to respond with a loud giggle and big hug to start your day off.
Even when he can’t be around, Bachira makes sure that you know he’s watching over you. You’ll come back home to find all of your chores taken care of (albeit you realize your poor sheets have fox fur all over them and that all the pineapples you've been saving have disappeared) and that you’ve been having inexplicable levels of good luck recently. When you confront the kitsune about it, he’ll play dumb and pretends he has nothing to do with it, even though you both know it’s his way of marking you as his favorite. While you might say you don’t need it, it’s still exceptionally heartwarming to know that such a powerful spirit would go out of his way to care for you and make sure nothing harms you.
A love between an immortal and a normal human is difficult, but something about loving Bachira comes so easily. Even as the average person’s faith in beings like him fade in and out with the dregs of modern society, your heart holds nothing but affection towards him. Bachira swears he’s never going to let you go; when the time is right, he’ll stretch his hand out to you and whisk you away to a paradise filled only with spirits like him. And there, he’ll find his happy ending with you by his side—the elusive figures of a satisfied kitsune and his devoted partner weaving in and around the edges of myths and urban legends in centuries to come.
“Hey, heyyyyyy! I’m bored! Quit staring at all these weird papers. I wanna do something fun! Being stuck inside the house is soooo boring, and there’s all these cool things around us we can look at! It’ll be more fun if you come with me! Let’s go, let’s go!”

The subject of Yokai is wildly popular right now and is featured prominently in books, websites, and online videos. Google receives thousands of searches on the topic daily. Readers 10-18 who cherished books like Cool Japan Guide and Diary of a Tokyo Teen will delight in this comic book style adventure. The graphic novel format will appeal to diehard anime and manga fans while stressing the importance this ancient spirit world is to the Japanese culture.
