An entirely self-indulgent thing I threw together for myself: ever since this joke came about via Dracula Daily, I now think about it *constantly* -- just calling the uncanny way Drac skitters over a wall, defying gravity and God, as "lizard-fashion" is fuckin' High Comedy. For a first run-through, design-wise, I'm pretty pleased with it, tho it could deffo use some tweaks.

(This will now go on my cross-stitch wall in the bathroom after a quick rinse and ironing.)

Hello everyone I am so unbelievably pissed about the NaNoWriMo situation that i'm going to take my massive stack of writing and craft books and my English degree and channel all my rage into making an email newsletter to send craft-oriented writing prompts and tips during the month of November. Say No to NaNoWriMo, but yes to WriMo. You get it.

I'm not going to make this have the same goals as Nanowrimo-- I'm not reskinning it but less ableist, I just really think having a whole month where people focused on their work is pretty cool and I want to keep up that spirit. This is going to be informal and run by Just Me, though I'll make a discord server if it's clear there's interest. Direct questions to @nowrimomo , which I literally just made and so will look like a skeleton currently.

I'm going to include prompts from various professional sources with options for Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Fanfic, so everybody can get in on this. It doesn't matter what you write, but we should all Write More.

Made this out of pure spite and boredom using the powers of leftover A4 paper, scissors, tape, two popsicle sticks and listening to “Dream sweet in sea major” for hours on loop occasionally switched with Mili’s “Compass” cause y’know, to fit the whole Moby Mood.

I think we should all make paper whales they’re so much fun.

Oh Lucy, what can we say about Lucy, the girl who has the soul of a poet, and the look of bloomed spring. A girl whose light fills the room, and who seems to be the epitome of Romanticism in every aspect of the movement.

At first glance Lucy feels out of place in a gothic novel, and in between characters like Jonathan and Mina. This girl is here? This one that writes with such bright cadence? The girl who is so expressive that her hand follows her stream of thoughts the more she opens her heart to her beloved Mina?

Don't get me wrong, all of that is true, Lucy is such a charming young lady with energy to spare, but to think that Lucy is not a gothic character:

He has a curious habit of looking one straight in the face, as if trying to read one's thoughts. He tries this on very much with me, but I flatter myself he has got a tough nut to crack. I know that from my glass. Do you ever try to read your own face? I do.

It's utterly wrong.

Lucy is so beautiful in soul, and so passionate in her expressions while being so hyper vigilant of every single thing she wants to share as she writes is something that is both interesting, and unsettling when one finally catches it. Lucy knows that Mina is the only woman, I would even dare to say the only person, that she seemly can write as freely as she wants to... And yet Lucy still reels herself back in her full feelings while only allowing herself a moment of vulnerability when she wrote her love for this Mr. Holmwood we haven't met.

Gothic characters not only come dressed in black, and/or red, sometimes they come dressed in dusty pink with a beautiful flower mask in hand.

there is something about magic systems that borrow from a specific craft that makes them so special. Maybe it’s because they feel more tangible and it’s very easy to get swept away by the passion for the craft that is clearly written on every page.

Whether it’s the art based magic system in Witch Hat Atelier. Or the translation based magic system in Babel. Or the alchemy/chemistry based magic system in Fullmetal Alchemist.

The relation to a specific craft makes the characters passion for their magic feel so personal and relatable. Because there is magic in art, in translation, in chemistry and any other craft that people partake in. The magic system becomes a love letter towards creation and everyone who creates and there is nothing world building wise that could be more charming.

We heard from Lucy for the first time since the beginning of the book! Things are picking up for Mina and Seward, and Im excited to use Arthur's colors again very soon
