Basketball bad boys, anyone?

Yeah, so these are my Kirisaki Daiichi redesigns. The uncrowned kings and their respective squads have all the fun potential and I intend to use it.

Kirisaki Daiichi and Hanamiya being the most slept on team for character design of them all because you can’t make a canonical “bad boy” team and not have them be emo, goth, and punk for the funsies. For the visual “pen egg chest qua” (je ne sais quoi). For the fun, stereotypical edgelord flair we all deserve to indulge in every now and then.

Makoto’s og design simply didn’t scream spider enough for me and I was tired of so many key characters having this longish, same shade of black hair (him, Himuro, Mibuchi, etc). Like, I know giving the black and brown a colored tint can subtract from the uniqueness of the GOM, but not even a little? So, yeah, fuck allat, I’m using desaturated colors every now and then.

I also loved drawing Makoto in some casual clothes and much needed drip. Villains are required to serve most. I wanted to draw the rest of them in some casual outfits because trust Kojiro and honestly all of them dress immaculately but life and time restraints. Maybe later.

Story wise, each player and Makoto maybe have their own reasons for turning to hurting others through basketball and I hope you catch some of the story threads I threw in. Whether or not they deserve or have the capacity to change is entirely up to you all with Makoto having the most potential to be entirely complex or cartoonishly evil (I like both). I’m a sucker for a bit of character complexity and things that leave room for interpretation.

The Kirisaki Daiichi basketball team is known for its dirty playstyle, they don't play by the rules, and that's how they strive to the top. In a field filled with different animals, they are the predators that hunt those who're weaker than them.

Hanamiya Makoto, the captain and coach of the Kirisaki Daiichi basketball team, is known to be the most sadistic and selfish person. He's a man that steals people's dreams and crushes them.

A disgusting man who doesn't care about anything else but be number one. A lot of girls had confessed their feelings for him, but they were all brutally turned down.

Because those girls want nothing more than to irritate their parents, they're going through their rebellious phase and have a weird attraction for the "bad boy" type.

Due to the countless rejections that Hanamiya gave, everyone thought that he just wasn't interested in love at all, they all painted him as a man without a heart.

So what a surprise when they find out that he got together with the most kind and selfless person in their whole school, (F/n) (L/n).

No one has expected such a dynamic, especially for someone like Hanamiya.

Hanamiya noticed the lingering eyes and got frustrated, "What the hell are you idiots looking at?!" He said frowning, (F/n) lightly punched Hanamiya, "Hey! Don't say those things! They're your classmates!"

He groaned and rolled his eyes, the two of them then walked out of the classroom to get lunch together.

"I wonder what (L/n)-San sees in him..." A young girl muttered as she watched the two couple walk out of the classroom.

A boy hummed and thought for a moment before suddenly getting an idea, "It's because they balance each other out, one's the sun and the other is a moon, though they're the opposite, it sits in just right. Like salt and pepper!"

The same girl hummed and nodded, "You're right... I guess it's just the fact that those two are made for each other."

hello, as a new haikyuu fan and someone who loves and is intrigued by the nuanced relationships in haikyuu i have a couple of questions regarding oikawa and kageyama bc not only is their relationship flawed but it's one of the biggest and most important relationships in the series despite it not being a positive one.

throughout the first season we learn about how kageyama was shut out by his former teammates in kitagawa daiichi who are now at seijoh. we also learn that oikawa and kageyama envy one thing from each other (communication for kageyama and natural volleyball iq for oikawa) which has created this rival-jealousy relationship over 3-4 years. it also shows the biggest thing is that oikawa rejects kageyama and refuses to mentor him because he senses the overgrowing talent and doesn't want kageyama to surpass him, sparking the insecurities he's had about volleyball his entire life. despite all this kageyama learns from oikawa by watching him as he was shut down multiple times by him to personally teach him certain moves.

so why is it that this entire time in the show oikawa rejects kageyama and for the most part refuses to actively help him (besides the "are you giving shrimpy [hinata] the type of pass he wants") yet claims that he is his junior? I only assume it's an elder respect thing that you call people younger than you your student but oikawa has never gone out his way even once to help kageyama. so why claim to ushijima and the audience that he is yet to everyone else he rejects the idea? this is something that has bothered me for a while and i have never understood.
