Edward's back story Pls

I'm still working out the kinks in the Story and I drew some pictures of Edward and the people that had a big influence on him in his life but to some it up... Edward comes from Barrow island in Barrow in Furness. He and his parents lived in a small flat in Ship Steet.

Edward's father worked at the steelworks and his mother worked in the house. Edward also has several siblings but they were not close except for his younger brother George Jr. Monika gave Edward the most stress as she was always getting Edward into trouble. Most of the time Edward was with his grandfather as his father was not very kind to him and his mother was distant towards him. He also went to school in Barrow Island but he often skipped school. His best friends were Margret and Nicolas, with whom he spent most of his time, from childhood to young adulthood. For a time during the First World War Edward was in the army. After that when he came home his friends were gone and his grandfather had died. Nicolas moved away for work and Margret had married and moved somewhere else too.

He left Barrow Island and joined the circus where he performed as a multi-talent in several shows including trapeze performances. His performing partner was a lady named Clarisse. Together they were considered the star performers and made a good team. They married after two years but the marriage broke down after one year because Clarisse was unfaithful and deceitful.

Edward left the circus and joined the railway at Barrow. He was mentored by a man called Edgar. He taught young Edward everything he needed to know about steam engines and the railway. He also taught him patience and honesty and Edward saw in him a father he didnt really have growing up. Edward was offered a job on the island of Sodor. With a little motivation from Edgar he accepted the offer and became a train driver on the North Western railway.

On Sodor, the best time of Edward's life had begun and he had found a real family there. He became a father figure to several young railwaymen, including Thomas. Edward also inspired his oldest, Cyrill, to become a train driver himself. He is also a good uncle to his niece, George Jr's daughter Faith. (Headcanon: Edward outlived his parents and his siblings out of spite)

After a plot-gone-wrong splits up a group of thieves, and leaves the young delinquent, Sonny, in the hands of the police, Edward, as usual, makes it his mission to help the boy find his footing and to mould him into an upstanding member of society. Suddenly in an odd position where he is given a chance to change and to live the life he's always wanted, rather than the one he was born into, Sonny is now facing one of the biggest challenges yet - freedom.

I love Dadward Little, you have them so right, I can’t stop thinking abt these two as adorable exhausted first time parents

OH i'm so glad to hear that because my brain is absolutely consumed by them!! it's very flattering to hear that someone is obsessed with these kids i forced into being!

the au of an au is really just my excuse to give joplittle kids because i am similarly possessed by the idea of edward and thomas as parents. i vary between an a/b/o setting and simply transing thomas' gender (because genderqueer thomas jopson is so special to ME) but either way, susan and david little are twins born in 1852, susan being older by eight minutes. david's middle name (michael. if yk yk) is just one that edward and thomas liked because there are Too Many male friends and relatives to choose a name from. susan's middle name is jane for edward's sister (who i hc as his twin after reading it in a couple of other fics and falling in love with edward as a twin.)

susan is a Mini Edward except for when's she's angry wherein she is possessed by thomas jopson sensibilities and guard-dog behaviours. david is a mix of both parents, but looks like edward when he frowns and thomas when he laughs. he's also got a bit more of a temper. despite being fraternal twins, they very much look like siblings, sharing dark but wavy hair and pale eyes. they have their parents absolutely besotted from day one.

i usually hc thomas' home life being pretty troubled growing up so he frequently can't believe that he gets to have a stable family unit; he teaches them both needlework but susan takes to it more, partially due to her greater patience. for edward, he can hardly believe that someone wants to marry him never mind have kids with him so he's occasionally struck with disbelief over how incredible his children are, but attributes this mainly to thomas. david absolutely idolises edward and aspires to similarly become a commander in the navy when he grow up (he does join the navy, but eventually becomes disillusioned with it). also Dadward Little is CORRECT he's very good at it!! he carries them on his shoulder and reads them stories! thomas sewed all their baby clothes himself

susan had a really bad bout of pneumonia when she was around ten and the doctors weren't optimistic about her odds. david completely withdrew into himself during this time, not even wanting his parents to hold him. edward and thomas were similarly distraught, with thomas refusing to move from her bedside. luckily, she recovered, but never really seemed to regain her full strength. less traumatically, david was once racing a friend to climb a tree, slipping and breaking his arm. he was more embarrassed than anything.

they live in ashford and are a happy, stable family and i love them all!

(occasionally i do have thomas and susan dying as a result of birth complications but that's mainly to feed my own personal angst enjoyment. in this au, edward is at his saddest and dampest and loves david with everything he can possibly, humanly offer. i do have some stuff written for this au.)

Dadward Elric with a squishy tummy. His hair tied up in a messy bun as he tries to get his kid to eat instead of throwing food everywhere. He's got eyebags and looks like shit, but hasn't been happier in his life. He's running on 4 hours of sleep each day yet has all the energy in the world to crawl around on the floor with his kid.

He could be fast asleep one moment, then racing towards the crib to help his baby within a second. He stays up for the next hour rocking them to sleep again.

So obviously Ed and Winry are going to love their own kids dearly and work hard to give them the consistent support and stability that they (especially Ed) had to grow up without. And I love that for them! But I also like to think that their experiences as orphans, their individual compassionate natures, and the examples they had in Winry’s parents and the Hughes and Curtis families, will lead to them taking in orphans and refugees, and their home becoming a haven for all sorts of abandoned and neglected children. And with Amestris being heavily wounded from generations of war, there are sure to be plenty of those in need of shelter and care.

so the pregnant sex is really just an excuse for pregnant and happy thomas jopson and dadward little because there can never be too much of that in the world! joplittle as parents just as a concept own my life. also it’s an excuse for me to dabble with my own omegaverse worldbuilding which i’m really enjoying! i have the following snippet which is a flashback to thomas sick in terror camp:

Thomas remembered seeing the stoic form of Lieutenant Little, standing guard outside the tent entrance. How he had growled when any alpha drew close but never tried to force his own entry. He remembered looking to the sliver of outside light that the entrance allowed him, and how his eyes had met Little’s own, filled with sympathy and a deep affection which Thomas hadn’t registered at the time.

When Thomas was placed in one of James Clark Ross’ rescue boats, it was Edward who had set him there and it was Edward who fastened the harness and hauled Thomas home.

the dragon riding is for helaemond and is because more people need to be writing about the relationship between helaena and dreamfyre. i also wanted to explore the psyche of aemond immediately after the driftmark incident. in case you’re curious:

Helaena wandered over to him, her every step like a dance.

Her hand pressed against the stitches covering his face. Yesterday, he would have hissed against the pain. Now, he only wanted to press further into it.

“You can see better, now.” Her mouth turned downwards, frown marring her face. “But I don’t think it a good thing.”

She spoke in rhymes

Emmeline pulled her hair behind her ears as Edward approached them and the rest of the group disappeared. She was definitely a part of The Order now, unless there was some type of initiation ceremony Edgar had forgotten to tell her about – which, if it involved blood, Emmeline was less likely to be as enthusiastic as she was currently. She looked at Edgar, nodding her head towards Edward. Keeping her gaze on Edward, she gestured for him to keep coming towards her and Edgar. She didn’t really know what she was going to tell Edward, but there was one thing on her mind that had kept her feeling quite guilty. The Bones were essentially Emmeline’s adoptive parents – they had taken her into their home, fed her, taken care of her. She owed it to them to keep them involved in her life as much as she could. She had kept her sexual exploration a secret from them out of fear that she would be judged by the two people whose opinions she valued the most, but now, there was no escaping it. As Edward approached her and Edgar joined the two, Emmeline cleared her throat. “Look – this is going to be very difficult for me to say and – and I would prefer if we kept it between us. But I need to tell you two something about my, er, sexcapades at Hogwarts.”
