Daddy Aetos is truly fucking evil.

He could’ve had them executed, he could’ve send Xaden to a mission and Kill him, he could’ve interrogated all of them and kill them in the process, he could’ve send them anywhere else to get them killed in a mission. But he chose Athebyne because that’s the place he knows Xaden has been trying to help, he puts the civilians he knows Xaden has been trying to help in the line of fire and makes them fight Venin, is all a big “fuck you, you wanna fight for them? Die for them” it’s not just him punishing Xaden and the marked ones for stealing weapons or arming the enemy, he is very very aware that it’s to save civilian lives, and purposefully using that to hurt and then kill them.

It’s not just him getting rid of the “traitors” it goes beyond just killing them, it’s very intentional, it’s psychological torture before he kills them.

Honestly, at this point, I'm convinced that romance authors just use the same characters but with different names because, like, what do you mean Dain Aetos is not Tamlin? The only difference is the hair length.

Both of them are overprotective for literally no reason except entitlement.

Both of them were loved by the MC first, only to be left for some dark, hot, brooding guy instead (much better in my opinion).

And don't even get me started on Rhysand and Xaden. Both have dark hair, tanned skin, are extremely hot, seem dangerous at first, but are nothing but absolute sweethearts to the MC later on. Also, both of them have shadow powers or something like that?! Did I mention that both of them are hot? Really hot.

At this point, we're only reading the same romance between the same characters with different lore.

And I'm here for it.

musing on what the show might or might not do with Thom & Elayne if he's in the Tanchico plotline and really...RJ wasn't interested in daddy issues as a formative trauma, was he? Most of the people who have named living fathers have good relationships with them. Even the people who SHOULD have daddy issues (cough, Elayne, Gawyn and Galad) don't really. Elayne tries it on for ninety seconds in TSR/TFoH and then lets it go, and more or less that's it. All Rand's conflict about his relationship with Tam isn't about Tam as a parent (he was and is a great dad!), it's about Rand processing his late discovery that he was adopted. they got 99 problems in Randland but daddy issues aren't one!
