slight AU I came up with, where Mihawk meets Zoro (& Perona) at a VERY early age- leading to Zoro and Sanji being something like childhood friends.

So half asleep thinking of modern One Piece AU with DadCroco and DadMihawk and just thought of modern day cross guild being a company Mihawk and Crocodile run together (Buggy being there to) of course Zoro and Luffy still being friends and of course still friends with all the other straw hats and constantly causing chaos.

Just in the middle of meetings Mihawk and Crocodiles phones ringing at the exact same time and both of them just sighing because they know it's about their youngest. (Crocodile gets more calls because he also has Ace and Sabo as his kids as well and they are also chaotic just not as much as Luffy but Mihawk still gets calls from Perona as well those are the ones that worry him because she's better at discretion so it's either for bail money or her telling him she's maxed out a credit card on plushies...again)

Mihawk and Crocodile also confusing their kids because they sometimes have meetings at each others houses (Simply because they want to avoid Buggy giving some big speech) Zoro walking into Luffy's house seeing his dad and being like '... I was sure I was at Luffy's house what the fuck?' there's also been Luffy trying to sneak into Zoro's to avoid his dad (and protective older brothers) after doing something chaotic and is just face to face with his dad.

Luffy at some point getting the idea to match make Mihawk and his dad. Much to Zoro's protests because No Luffy I do not want to even think about my dad doing anything with ANYONE please stop. Perona is totally for it though, she's been trying to matchmaker her brother with Sanji for years with no luck so she'd like a win for once.

In the process of this Buggy finds out what they are planning and is horrified because those 2 are scary enough already as a couple. They'd be terrifying why would you inflict that on the world straw hat? WHY?

Luffy's disappointed cause he wants his dad to be happy and he hasn't tried to matchmake him since that time he was little when he tried to matchmake him with Shanks.

Buggy: YOU TRIED TO SET CROCODILE UP WITH SHANKS??

Luffy: Kinda I was trying but then Benn found out and said it wouldn't work cause Shanks was already in love with someone

Buggy: I what he

Luffy:Yeah Benn said that shanks was totally hung up on some blue haired idiot who he'd known since he was a kid

Picture me this: (based on Garp knowing Mihawk has kds now)

Mihawk being petty and that bitchTM. Shanks agreeing to watch the kids while Mihawk is summoned to a meeting, but he decides that Shanks is unavailable. Mihawk brings his kids to the Warlord meeting to a.) show he isn't afraid to show he has kids and is just challenging anyone to do something b.) show Moria and Doflamingo he stole their kids (Perona and Law) and he won't be giving them back, and c.) to simply "expose his children (and garp's grandsons) to the marines so they in the future can become exceptional marines by learning by example"

I am more of the opinion that Mihawk would try by any means necessary to keep the kids out of the public eye. He would literally gaslight Marines who can see the angry green fluff-ball Zoro leashed to the Warlord's waist, Perona bright and black and pink floating alongside him, whining "Dadddd" every other moment to get his attention. Law, who is definitely recovering from some type of disease, and the Heart Pirates on the other side as Mihawk buys them ice cream.

The Marine will go, "Uh, sir, are these your children?" completely thinking he's about to die. Mihawk, while handing Bepo his strawberry sprinkled cone, will then say, "What children?" And the officer will walk away from the confrontation thinking he's either A) losing it or B) going to assume he's losing it because Oda-Christ, the idea of Mihawk spawning is a horror he wouldn’t wish on the world.

But let's say this does happen. The truth is revealed, and Mihawk can no longer hide that he has a bajillion fluff balls following him around. (Maybe someone tried to steal one of his kids, and he went on a roaring rampage for revenge, ending up with a lot of people dead and Red-Haired Shanks glaring at them over Mihawk’s shoulder, while also looking at Mihawk like the gore he’s covered in is chocolate and he wants to lick it off him.)

He first has a conversation with the kids, explaining to them what could be happening from here on out. Technically, if they play their cards right, they can be protected under the Warlord system, as there is now a flock bonds and an ability to prove it. It will be up to the kids on whether or not they want to reveal themselves by his side.

Law immediately says no; he doesn’t want his own problems dragged in with these wonderful people who love him and take care of him so much. He won’t have another Corazon on his hands. Mihawk respects this and does everything in his power to hide Law from the government. Uta is associated with the Red-Haired Pirates, so the no is a given unless Mihawk wants to be implicated in things.

Zoro won’t give a damn. Perona might be a bit hesitant because of Moria; she has a lot of unresolved trauma and guilt associated with him, so probably a hesitant no at the moment. Ace would only give a damn if he was seen as Mihawk's son; he’ll go for trainee. Sabo will say no for revolutionary reasons, but not a hundred percent no in case he needs it for the Revolutionary Army. Luffy is just happy he can show off how cool his sword dad is.

I'd love to see a one piece fic where we just see exagerated versions of their dynamic in a modern way, and let me explain this with Zoro.

First we'd see how he was left by his parents at the dojo, orphan Zoro getting foster care by Kuina's father, but i don't see him actually seeing that man as a father figure.

Now lets also say Kuina didn't die at a young age and rather stayed with him until she had just started middle school. At this point, if Zoro now, can call her a best friend, if they spent this long together, I think he would see her as a sibling and they would call each other sis and baby bro (to annoy him).

Again, Kuina doesn't die, but lets say she moves out of the country to other relatives, leaving Zoro alone when he was about to start middle school. So he one day has the 'got lost and never came back' incident during his first year. But everyone at the dojo thought he ran away bc Kuina left. So they didn't bother to look for him.

Lost and alone he manages to run into Mihawk, in this world, world champion. He knows Mihawk so he, even if he was ashamed, decided to ask him for directions to the nearest dojo.

Mihawk, upon seeing wet cat Zoro, decides to take care of him, as he asked where his parents were and Zoro told him he was an orphan.

Mihawk takes him under his wing and goes trough with the adoption process. At first Zoro doesn't really care as long as he has a place to train and stay but soon starts to see them as his actual family. By this time Perona was already adopted by Mihawk and is also and older sister for him.

Drac enrolls Zoro in school and gives him the training. They make him go to all the fancy schools Perona also goes/went to, cuz they don't trust Zoro's judgment to choose one.

And this also includes his university.

He decides to follow the same as Mihawk and in this uni he meets all his friends from different majors and also gets into the masculine judo club.

He doesn't know, but it's the fanciest uni in the country and Kuina is also there.

She didn't know about him, until she say him when he went to look for Perona (which she shares a few classes with) and instantly recognised his green hair.

She couldn't lie about being kindda hurt when she heard him call Perona older sis, but went on with life without saying anything.

Zoro took way longer to notice, bc it was Tashigi who pointed her out to him, when she was talking about this really tall girl she admires named Kuina and he was flabergasted.

Their encounter was emotional and awkward, but they decided to have a sparing session to test each other.

They used the unis campus for this, at night, and Kuina told him that she thought she was ready to challenge Mihawk and Zoro told her she still was no match for his old man, and Kuina went YOUR???

I think it would be so cute if Miruna and Mihawk adopted one of the little dwarves fairy folk that are in One Piece like-

like this sweet baby <3 how could just aahhhhhh they are so damn cute!!! Miruna's pet seagull just swoops in one day and just casually has a little dwarf fairy baby that was a survivor like Miruna from slavery,

Miruna is immediately mom mode and is like: 'we are adopting this child until we can get her home to her people'

and Mihawk is just

Just like they would be such good parents and I could see the little adorable child hanging out in Mihawk's hat like in the feathers or traveling with Miruna on her shoulder and them gardening together

I need to draw this ASAP!

Just thinking someone rocks up to Cross Guild to try and get them to help out with going against the Straw Hats only to have Crocodile and Mihawk instantly go overprotective parent murder mode.

Buggy is just there terrified like 'Why do you two care' and then having overprotective parent mode turned on him as both of them are like 'We don't care' clearly lying because they just eviscerated the pirate who suggested maybe going after them.

Mihawk and Crocodile not sure why the other is so protective but can't ask because that means acknowledging that they themselves are being protective.

Bonus they are not subtle about it new wanted posters or news of straw hats come in and they're silent stoic faces then excuse themselves and then distantly hear cheering.

i think a side effect of loving mishanks for many people is becoming very endeared by the "rayleigh is mihawk's parent" au's haha :') first one's part of this fic i posted where smolhawk challenges rayleigh to a duel ⚔️✨️ second one's just a random kid!mishanks doodle. i think their shenanigans (incl buggy!) would be cute.

For the adults Shanks is fluffier then Mihawk think macaw wings. While Mihawk has more sleek sharp wings. Think hawk.

For the child order of fluffiest to least fluffy-

Luffy- 10/10 big ball of fluff even as he gets older and his wings become more sea bird like- it’s the vibes of fluffiness he exudes huggable

Perona is the next only because she is kinda fluffy and allows hugs (unless your Zoro then she’ll punt you.)

Uta, not as fluffy as Perona fluffy but she’s a cuddle monster and gives great hugs.

Ace is probably the most fluffy baby to ever fluff. And he hates it and thats why he’s not higher on the list.

Sabo wings are smaller and sleeker not fluffy great cuddler!

Zoro is a monster of fluff will but has bitten and or stabbed people for trying to cuddle (doesn’t stop Luffy.)

In all their own ways they are all little piles of fluff and will swarm Shanks or Mihawk in a pile of limbs and feathers.

Mihawk is so unserious it's so funny to me.

He looks all goth and black soul and then this mf pulls out the smallest knife to mock some hoe.

He has like a thousand outfits for his different activities and actually has a nice relationship with the baboons.

This guy is all looks and no actions to show his totally serious dark soul.
