Better Than Before

A/n: A bit shorter than my other oneshots, but it's cute! I hope you like it!

Stefan walks into the house and shuts the door. The first thing he notices is that it's way too quiet in the house. Even when Damon makes you have a nap, it's still loud.

Stefan walks deeper into the house until he hears soft voices coming from upstairs. He follows his brother's and niece's voices until he comes to a stop outside your bedroom.

You and your daddy are on the ground. You're sat in his lap while he holds your brown fluffy teddy bear out in front of you. He's acting a scene out with the bear, his voice high-pitched, making you giggle.

"I love you so much, you're the best girl in the whole world" Damon makes the bear move around and point at you. He brings the bear close to your face and makes a kssing sound as if the bear is kissing your nose.

The action makes you giggle more, and cuddle back into him. "Funny Daddy" you nuzzle your head into his chest.

"Funny is right" Stefan smiles, making his presence known.

Damon immediately looks over to his little brother and sighs. He was not supposed to hear that. "Your dad's gotten even better over the years" he crouches down in front of you.

"I suggest you shut your mouth before you regret it" Damon glares at him. "But you have, I mean it's different from when you did that with me. Your daddy would hit me with the bear instead of make it kiss my nose" He ruffles your soft hair.

You look up at your uncle with a smile, "Daddy bad" You say and look over to your daddy then.

"He sure was" Stefan whispered. Damon has a faux offended look on his face.

"Well, I was going to offer cookies, but maybe it's not such a good idea if you're agreeing with Uncle Stefan here" Damon raises an eyebrow.

"No! Want cookie, sorry daddy" You say quickly and hug him before lifting your arms up for Stefan to pick you up while Damon stands from the ground.

"Were you wif your gir'friend?" You tilt your head quizzically at Stefan. All he does is widen his eyes just a bit, how did you know about Elena?

"Well, answer the sweet gremlin" Damon smirks, answering Stefan's question.

Been obsessed recently with how various media typecasts all it's old men.

Like in Stardew Valley pretty much all the old men are crotchety weirdos that are secretly sweethearts and have a specific interest they've dedicated their whole lives to and are supposed to be varying degrees of helpful.

While Ace Attorney (at least the first trilogy) typecasts all it's old men as deranged bastard gremlins that are all criminals to various degrees, and assholes in general.

Horrible thought I just had (and by "just" I mean on Wednesday lol) but maybe the reason Wolfgang is always so agreeable and passive, and continues to remain composed and soft-spoken even when clearly annoyed/frustrated with or scolding someone rather than get expressively angry, is because lashing out and potentially hurting someone by doing so reminds him too much of what his dad used to do 🙃

So finally remembering that I watched IF I decided to take another look at the cast and oh my god have I forgotten the amount of people I recognize so here’s a random shitpost about the people I forgot/didn’t realize were in the movie

First of all John Krasinski not only played Bea’s dad but the burning marshmallow

Steve Carell voiced Blue and it wasn’t hard to distinguish his voice

Phoebe Waller-Bridge voiced Blossom

Emily Blunt voiced Unicorn

Matt Damon voiced Sunny, can’t believe they got Jason Bourne to play a sunflower therapist

Sam Rockwell as Guardian Dog which is kinda ironic cause he voices Mr. Wolf in The Bad Guys

Christopher Meloni voiced Cosmo which is fitting since he played Elliot Stabler in Law and Order so I’m 100% certain that while creating Cosmo they were like “Hey we should get that one dude from Law and Order to voice him” also the mental imagine of him in a sound booth yelling “CLOAK AND DAGGER” is funny to me

Awkwafina voiced Pop and like Steve it was easy to tell it was her

Blake Lively voiced Octopuss

George Clooney as Spaceman, the space joke was funny to me

Bradley Cooper as Ice, went from voicing a raccoon to a glass of ice

Amy Schumer voiced Gummy Bear, loved her in Trolls (she voiced Velvet)

Keegan-Micheal Key as Slime who reminds me of the Bounty Paper commercials

Bill Hader as the Banana

And lastly Brad Pitt as Keith, nice to see the original Ocean’s 11 trio in a movie again.

Baby daughter reader x Stefan Salvatore x Katherine Pierce (+ Damon Salvatore)

"Yes, come here baby, come to mama" Katherine smiles, encouraging you as Stefan stands you up from his lap.

"Yeah, look at Mama, Y/n/n" your Dada encourages you, letting you free from his grip, his hands still reached forward in case he has to swoop in and pick you up. Though after a few seconds it's easy to tell you won't give up so soon.

Looking at your Mama a couple feet away, you take a small step forward.

Your steps are messy and uncoordinated, but you have only started walking last week. Mid way to your Mama's stretched out arms, you lose your balance and one foot slides, making you topple over.

Before you could hit the ground, Katherine goes into action and jumps forward. She catches you before you hit the ground and pulls you into her arms. You let out a shriek before realizing you haven't hit the floor and you're now in your Mama's arms.

Stefan is close behind, was about to catch you, but thankfully Katherine had gotten to you first. "Maybe it's not such a good idea to do this on hard wood flooring" he scratches the back of his neck, sheepishly.

"Probably" Katherine sighs, standing back up with you cradled in her arms.

"Mmm...a...mmmm" you let out some sylobols before it turns back to regular baby talk gibberish.

"What was that?" Katherine pays attention to you, thinking what she heard was just in her head. She turns to Stefan, "was that just me or...?"

"That sounded a lot like someone was trying to say Mama" Stefan reaches to you and runs his fingers up and down your tiny stomach. The action makes you burst out giggling, leaning against your Mama as your Dada tickles you. "I told you 'Mama' is going to be her first word" Stefan smirks.

He seizes the tickled on your stomach, making you breath heavily in relief while leaning against your Mama's chest.

Later in the day, you three are downstairs. You're set up on a soft blanket on the ground, stuffed animals and some toys stranded on top. Katherine and Stefan are sitting on the couch right behind your set up, talking while also keeping a close eye on you.

You play with one of the toys shaped as a butterfly, all your attention focused on it.

On the other side of the house, the large wooden front door opens and closes. The next minute, your uncle walks into the room, a smile on his face.

Stefan and Katherine looks over to him. "What did you do?" Stefan asks, not liking the way he looks so calm. "Whatever do you mean, baby brother?" Damon shrugs his leather jacket off, tossing it on one of the arm chairs.

Perking up from looking at your toy, you see your Uncle Damon. Straying the butterfly toy to the side, you move up to a crouching position and push yourself up to stand on your own from the blanket. The adults in the room don't notice what you're doing, still trying to figure out what Damon has done, and Damon defending that he hadn't done anything.

You take a first step, then another, and another, making your way over to where your uncle is standing by the armchairs. You wobble a bit, but stay on your feet, continuing your way over to him.

Two steps away from your Uncle Katherine notices you're walking. "Guys" She tries to pull Stefan and Damon away from their rising argument. Stefan turns to her, Damon scoffing. "Oh don't give me that, Damon, look" She nods to where you're taking your last step over to the dark haired vampire.

Damon and Stefan look over and their eyes widen in realization at what you're doing.

You make your way up to him and grab at his leg to lean against him. "Hey munchkin. Did you walk all the way over to me?" Damon smiles, forgetting about the argument with Stefan.

He crouches down and lifts you up into his arms. He's pulls you front in center, facing him, his arms supporting your small back and bottom. You squeal in happiness by being lifted into your uncle's arms, patting his chest with your small hands.

"Did you miss Uncle Damon? I don't blame you, your daddy can be a bit of a bore" Damon whispers loudly, making you giggle, though you don't understand what he's saying.

"D....da..." You say out loud, looking up at Damon. Everyone is quiet, listening to what you're trying to say. Damon looks down at you with widened eyes.

"D...d...da..day.....Dam'n!" You exclaim finally, calling your uncle's name. You giggle in satisfaction of being able to say what you've been meaning to.

Damon has a massive grin on his face. While Katherine and Stefan both have shock written on their faces.

"Yes, that's right, I'm your Uncle Damon!" Damon exclaims, bouncing you in his arms.

Damon looks over to your parent, a shit eating grin on his face, making them roll their eyes. Though, Katherine does stand and come over to you both. "Such a good little walker she is" Katherine kisses the top of your head.

"Yes she is, right to me, that is" Damon twerks is eyebrows teasingly. Stefan rolls his eyes playfully, standing up and walking over.

"Well Uncle Damon should go take a shower and get all of that blood off him" Stefan says, taking you into his arms. There are stains of blood on Damon's arms and collar of his shirt from the events before he came home. At least that's what Katherine and Stefan deciphered.

You cuddle into your Dada's chest, but still looking over at your Uncle.

"Whatever you say, Baby Bro, but I'm the best uncle, just so you know. Your baby agrees." Damon smirks before waving cutely to you. He leaves the room, heading for hi bedroom.
