I'M CRYING BECAUSE THAT SONG. THAT SONG MAKES ME SENSITIVE.

At a quarter to midnight, in the League hide out rooftop, there was a guy with an ukelele he had won in a bet, something he planned to exchange for some quality info later.

On the meanwhile, the drunk guy was admiring the moon, fingers gracing the chords, eyes falling with exhaustion.

From up there, no heroes or villains mattered. They were all as little as ants, helpless, clueless. And he was alone among the stars, tall and proud and free. He has a lovely voice, one could say. The night carries the sound in waves towards the horizon, the deep tone caressing the clouds like a whisper of an forgotten god. He sings of sins and loneliness, moving through the rooftop with steady steps even when he had probably drank too much for an evening.

He catches the silhouette of another man climbing the rusty stairs and closes his mouth.

He sees first the halo of his hair, white threads like spider webs floating around in the air. Dabi's finger move on their own as he admires the figure slowly rising, the wind moving through his clothes until they let a tiny frame of pale skin showing.

“ Wise men say only fools rush in,

but I can't help falling in love with you. ”

Have you ever been burned alive? Dabi was. He had been burning and burning and burning with no oxygen or control.

Being in love with Shigaraki Tomura was a little like that, like burning, like falling into pieces and being picked up and put together with a smirk, a glance, a word.

Dabi thinks at him as Tomura tries to fix his hair and he gets stuck on the pink of Shigaraki's knuckles. The temperature is down and going lower, no snow yet but who needs snow when Tomura is there with his bare hands, freezing Dabi's heart 'til his hundreds below zero, bones cracking with the ice and the flakes of white.

“ Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?

if I can't help falling in love with you? ”

He's dizzy. He doesn't know anymore if he's burning or freezing, if he's moving or standing quietly, if he's still in the shadows or if he has stepped into the light.

All that exists is the sweet intoxication of alcohol and Tomura's touch on his elbow, catching him before falling.

He comes back to his senses while laying on Tomura's lap, staring at a face full of scars and concern. It is too much. Dabi feels the blood rushing to his cheeks, tongue hot and heavy.

He doesn't know when he started singing.

“ Like a river flows surely to the sea,

darling so it goes, some things are meant to be. ”

The song almost plays on his own, as he stares. He sits up, never leaving Tomura's wide eyes. He kinda wanted to close them, so he wouldn't have to stare at the disappointment in them. Although there's none of that, he doesn't find the courage to sing louder. Tomura has to lean into his personal space to figure out what is Dabi singing.

And when it becomes clear, when Tomura recognizes the tune, something magical happens: he blushes, cherry blossoms at 12am.

That's worth the song, just that. He's so distracted, he didn't notice the minute Tomura starts singing too. It's not until Tomura calls his name that Dabi trembles and shuts up, listening.

“ Take my hand, take my whole life too.

'Cause I can't help falling in love with you. ”

Dabi fears he's waking up from a dream. He feels the hair of his body standing up, heart racing in his chest with violence. He hears it like a drum, steady and loud and— and—

Dabi takes his wrist instead. Their chests collide as Dabi presses him to his body, not yet a kiss, but something equally intimate. Dabi sings the rest of the song with his lips against Tomura's ear, getting clumsy with every word. He's fully awake not.

Tomura takes his hand. He puts his fingers to his mouth, kisses the palm, breaths against his wrist.

Dabi decides he's never drinking again.

And he's for sure not trading the ukelele.
