No matter how bnha ends, I'm grateful that I became invested because it brought me joy, and it gifted me the euphoric experience of getting to know one of my favorite characters ever: Touya Todoroki, Dabi. I will always love him, and he will always have a special place in my heart. Nothing can change that or take that away from me. Shouto, too. The soba brothers are eternal to me.
It's so typical of me to be drawn to the mysterious, cold, brooding characters, haha. Shouto and Dabi immediately captured my attention when I first watched/read bnha with @fox-conscious. I took a break from following the series for a few years until November 2020, when I casually logged into Tumblr after months of not checking and saw chapter 290 Dabi's Dance leaks. It must have been fate. Suddenly, I was fully immersed in the manga again, excited that the obvious familial connection between my two favorites was officially confirmed. This reveal reignited my excitement and gave me something to focus on and look forward to during a challenging first semester in grad school, when I was on the cusp of realizing I needed professional help for my eating disorder.
To deal with the stress and have fun, I turned to reading and writing meta, and trying to make friends to share the experience with. That's the most important thing that has come from following this series... I've met so many incredible people who mean a lot to me:
@haleigh-sloth has become a really dear and close friend of mine. We met because of this manga and bonded over crepes, breakfast foods, pasta or ramen dinners, shopping at the mall, swimming in the river, walking her dogs, sleepovers, traveling, and road trips because of our shared love of the characters and story. We are basically the same person and constantly say the same things at the same time. Through the ups and downs of school, work, moving, and even now, we've always had each other's backs and shared countless moments of laughter and ugly cackling because we can't take shit seriously, ever. She's one of my best friends for life and I can't imagine NOT having her around!
@todomitoukei was one of the first friends I made in this fandom. I can always count on her to make the funniest jokes I've ever heard, especially during a completely serious conversation, and I'm astounded how smart, quick-witted, and talented she is. Truly an inspiration. I always look forward to seeing notifications that she messaged me because she brightens my day <3
I've had the great pleasure of meeting and hugging @hamliet TWICE! She has a generous heart and an inviting, calm aura. Her kindness and intelligence are remarkable. I genuinely enjoy discussing all sorts of topics with her, both silly and serious: life, hopes and dreams, fears and daily struggles, funny memes, reading and writing. I also love seeing her pet photos and can't wait to meet them in the future.
@transhawks is truly my most insane friend, and I say that lovingly and in the most ironic way because he's level-headed, creative, articulate, and self-aware. I'm always learning from him. I can talk to him for hours and never run out of things to say, and I always look forward to his insightful commentary about anything and everything.
And of course, I'm grateful for all the discord shenanigans with my friends: watching the anime together, voice calls, memes, sharing ideas, etc. @chocolate-biscuit who always pops into the chat with funny one-liners that leave me cackling for days when they flash in my head randomly, @bootlickerhawks who is the bestest horse person ever and I get excited to see on my dash, @helga-grinduil who is the saltiest and funniest person on this hellsite and also happens to make the best bnhaedits in this entire fandom, @jecook who is one of the sweetest people I've ever met and can't wait to read fix-it fics from, @mettywiththenotes who sends cute dog pictures and makes the most hilarious memes. Together we are all unhinged, and I love it. Despite living in different time zones, different counties, we've all create a fun space to cohabitate, and I think that's really cool and beautiful.
Hmm. Looks like the real treasure was the friends I made along the way, and the shared trauma of having our favorite characters mishandled by their creator was worth it. Can't wait to keep writing fics, making memes, and making new friends like @shortstrawberryshake because of this manga. And, I can't wait to keep loving Touya and Shouto Todoroki, of course <3

In White and Gold
Word Count: 2,700+ (oneshot)
[AO3]
Genre: Angst
Pairing: Dabi/Hawks, blink-and-you'll-miss-it TodoDeku and Fuyumi/Miruko.
Summary: Soulmate AU. Hawks has spent his entire life hunting for his soulmate. Whoever this Todoroki Touya is, he knows it's his destiny to meet him. Dabi isn't a big believer in destiny.
Warnings for implied domestic abuse and child abuse.
Written for the @phoenixwingszine, such a long while back that the title was "In Red and Gold." I've heard bits and pieces about the Dabi = Touya reveal but have actually not read the manga since [checks MyAnimeList] shit, October 2020, so apologies if any details are now non-canon.
~0~
When the Hero Public Safety Commission had taken away his given name, he hadn’t been too fussed about it. At only five, he hadn’t had enough time to figure out who Takami Keigo was, let alone worry about what it meant to lose him and become Hawks. He had just had one concern.
“What about Touya-kun?”
“Hm?”
He had loosened his iron grip on his Endeavor plushie so he could point out the solid black characters he’d been born with on his wrist.
“Touya-kun. The boy with white hair. Do we have to get rid of his name, too?”
At that, he’d been startled to hear all the HPSC men burst out laughing at him. The one in charge, the one who had told him about his own name, was the first to stop and smile down at him in a way that was meant to be comforting, but that made him feel a little queasy instead.
“No, Hawks. There’s no way of removing soulmate marks, on you or Touya-kun. Although...”
The man had taken Hawks’ forearm in his own unpleasantly cold and dry hand, and inspected the name more closely. Something was gleaming in his eyes that Hawks didn’t understand.
“We’ll keep an eye out for Touya-kun for you. But you’ll have to cover up that mark. We don’t want any villain seeing it and trying to hurt him, would we?”
Hawks’ heart had skipped a beat, and he clutched the plushie closer. He’d never considered that before. “No, definitely no!”
“Then we’re in agreement. Don’t worry about him, Hawks.”
The meeting was soon over, and the man ruffled his hair before he was escorted back to his new dorm room. As soon as they were all out of sight, Hawks resentfully pawed at it, trying to get it back just the way it was, and push away the feeling of somebody else’s hand there. Hawks wasn’t exactly vain, now or in the future, but he did not like the feeling of anybody else touching his other soulmate mark.
He’d taken a stool so he could stand at the bathroom mirror and take another look at it, curiously tugging at the single wide, icy-white streak of hair in his honey-gold head. He had some feathers that matched it, and he wondered whether that was a coincidence or a part of this whole thing.
Whoever he was meant to be with in this world, this white streak and the name Todoroki Touya on the inside of his arm were the only clues to finding him.
If he worked hard here, if he curried favor with the HPSC, if he became the right kind of hero, all these items he was now charged with checking off his list...then maybe things would fall into place and they could meet.
He had gone to bed clinging to the plushie — the only toy he’d been permitted to bring from home — and fallen asleep to dream of a white-haired boy grabbing his hand and taking him to play. He would particularly dislike waking up from dreams like this: they were the only times his loneliness was broken.
~0~
Now, “loneliness” isn’t a word that Hawks thinks of anymore. It’s a thing that’s simply faded into the background of his life, as natural to him as air.
When not in costume, he wears a simple white wristband over Touya’s name, the most common kind for people whose marks are written on their arm or leg and wish to keep it private. The HPSC had wanted him to hide the white streak in his hair, too, but for once he had dug his heels in and insisted on leaving it alone. He has no plans to advertise himself to his soulmate — like many do, desperate for the connection that the entire world insists they are nothing without — but he won’t leave Touya without a single way to notice him.
Flippant as he tries to be, Hawks thinks about it far more often than he lets on: only sometimes in private, and most often in public.
Hero costumes are, as a rule, designed to obscure the names of soulmates, and it’s difficult to guess where they might be hidden. Civilians are another story. On patrols, he can count all number of fleecy armbands, sets of anklets, bandanas around foreheads and upper arms, bandages and even masks on faces. But what he finds his eyes flicking towards the most are the people who wear their soulmate’s names openly and proudly on their skin.
What must it be like for them, Hawks wonders, not to fear for the lives of their other half?
Whoever Todoroki Touya is, he has nothing to do with the world of heroes. He’s certain of it.
Maybe it was a delayed realization that other heroes had more colorful lives than his own, like a little kid’s first discovery that his teachers didn’t actually live at school. Or maybe he’d just been a particularly dumb kid. But it had taken a few years for it to click in his head that it might not be a coincidence that Touya shared Endeavor’s surname.
He knew that the HPSC officials would be as vague as always if he were to ask them directly. So the second he was old enough to have that kind of security clearance — being their prize show bird did have its perks — Hawks had gone into their databases to look up the family of Todoroki Enji.
As it happened, Endeavor’s only blood relatives were his three children. Both sons were far too young — Hawks isn’t sure exactly when his mark had appeared but he knows it had been in his infancy — and he had double checked his arm, but the name hadn’t changed from Touya to Fuyumi. Not that he would have minded, but it had been a moot point anyway.
The mystery remains unsolved, and all he can do is make his way around Japan hoping that they’ll end up in the right place at the right time to recognize one another. Of course, there’s no guarantee that Touya even lives in Japan, but it’s the assumption he has always worked from.
Every day he sees a rainbow of soulmate streaks in the city; as they’re far less intimate than names, the majority of them are shown publicly. He tries to focus on how fascinating the combinations of colors are: for instance, he wonders sometimes about that one kid he’d seen a few years ago, with a wide streak of white and red in his thick shock of green hair, like a squirt of toothpaste. Really, he’s lucky to have a bird’s eye view of it all; when the city’s in full swing, it’s like flying over a herd of peacocks.
Somehow, though, even from so far up in the air, he always manages to spot the one head in a crowd that, as far as their society was concerned, was as empty as their lives.
Not everyone was meant to be with others romantically or sexually, but nobody wanted to be alone. Despite the claims of countless products professing to help the lonely everyman find their true love forever, your soulmate wasn’t necessarily meant to be your lover. It was simply the other half your soul reached out to, the one you would know right down to the deepest parts of you that you belonged with...all that poetic stuff.
As such, everyone theoretically had one. However, as usual, time and death often conspired to get in the way. The only way you could lack the requisite marks was if that person didn’t exist yet, or had died, during your lifetime or outside of it. And in that case...
Hawks had once had a twenty-four-hour stakeout assignment with Miruko, during which their idle conversations had turned to how she was meant to find out who had given her the barely perceptible streak of silvery-white in her hair. He’d asked whether she would even notice if it fell out one day, to which she had given him a reproving kick to the rear and pointed to the few rusty-red strands mixed in.
But he had meant it, and keeps wondering even now: what would hurt the most? His own precious streak of white uprooting itself forever before he’d even gotten the chance to meet Touya? Or meeting him, knowing him, even loving him, and then one day out of the blue seeing white strands of hair falling away in front of his face? He thinks that that alone might knock him right out of the sky.
If the worst does happen, Hawks knows that there’s nothing he could do about it. Still he memorizes the characters on his arm, so even if — when — the mark disappears, he will still be able to copy down Touya’s name exactly as it was.
And still he guards the streak jealously: turning quietly furious if it’s clipped in battle, catching himself running his fingers over it even when he’s not actively preening, gelling it up every morning so it sticks out like a signpost over the rest of his hair.
He can’t actively go out looking for Touya, not with his regularly scheduled hero work and his...extracurricular assignments from the HSPC. His goal of creating a world where every hero has that kind of time to kill is still much too far away.
Hawks will leave him this one clue and carry on with his life. But he’ll always keep one eye open for the only man in the world who still knows his true name.
~0~
He pities whoever has the name Dabi emblazoned somewhere on their skin.
Of course, it could just be a villain name. They don’t have enough data on him to know otherwise (in fact, they barely have any at all, which annoys the shit out of Hawks). But if Toga Himiko and Shigaraki Tomura are using their real names, then there’s a chance that Dabi is too, or at least a couple characters of it.
Or...maybe had is a better word. If there’s still a streak in Dabi’s spiky mess of hair, it definitely would have stood out against the black.
“What are you staring at, Hawks?” Dabi is always the first to speak in these little rendezvous of theirs. If he were less rigidly trained, the sound of that gravelly voice would make his feathers ruffle. “Am I really that handsome?”
Hawks snorts loudly. He’s long since stopped reflexively looking for any trace of someone’s name on that patchwork skin. “Dunno. But you keep picking the ugliest places to meet up, you know that?”
Normally, Hawks likes being around the sea; the scent of the wind is refreshing and sharp, and the gulls always seem to be in awe of his wingspan. But at three in the morning, underneath a defunct fishery that still has the smells of machinery oil, raw fish, and dirty salt water hanging in its air? It only makes the inside of his nostrils sting.
“So sorry it’s all beneath you, Number Two Hero. Now...why don’t we hash out the details of that little event we were talking about last time? Have you given it any thought?”
“Sure I have. I’ve double checked the registers for strong heroes for your Noumu, and I think I’ve got some testing candidates.”
Dabi’s eyes gleam, as bright as his fire and as eager for destruction. It makes Hawks’ stomach turn.
“Good. I’ve been scouting other locations along the coast, so tell me what you think of these...”
~0~
Hawks flies away believing the plan to be set for three days from now, at a small factory where casualties can be expected to be small.
Or maybe he already suspects that Dabi plans to alter the deal. That deceptively calm face, that friendly smile that doesn’t reach his flat gold eyes...Dabi would have an easier time trying to see through a steel wall. The only thing he knows for sure about Hawks is that he can’t place the slightest bit of trust in him.
Well...maybe that’s not the only thing.
Between the HSPC keeping Hawks and his prodigious abilities under wraps until his public debut at fifteen, Dabi hadn’t known where the golden streak in his white hair came from, who this Takami Keigo was that Endeavor had always strongly discouraged him from wanting to try and meet. His father’s strong discouragements (and encouragements, now that he thought about it) were usually delivered with fists and fire, but even bruises that marred his whole cheek weren’t enough to hide the characters standing out boldly on his jawline.
His own Quirk, however, had done the trick. He had barely survived being pushed past the limit by his father, but at the cost of so much of his skin, including the piece that bore his soulmate’s name. He knew it by heart (his mother had quietly urged him to do so, perhaps anticipating its loss), and of course he knew his own natural hair color, long since obscured by deep black dye.
The first time they had met — the first time Dabi had looked, really looked, at the Number Two Hero — his first thought had been, It can’t be.
His second thought, mere moments later: It is. He is.
With the long, thick garments that made up Hawks’ costume, Dabi can’t guess where his other mark might be, but he knows as sure as he knows his own name that Todoroki Touya is branded in inky black somewhere on his skin.
If you change your name — and you have to do it yourself, nobody else’s will has that kind of power — your soulmate’s mark changes accordingly, to become as accurate a reflection of your soul as possible. Aliases like hero and villain names can even qualify, in rare cases, if you wrap up enough of your identity in them: that’s why it’s Endeavor and not Todoroki Enji smeared across his mother’s face.
He had thought he was Dabi now. In his thoughts, he calls himself by the name he had taken, on realizing that he still survived, that he hadn’t let his father’s fire cremate him alive.
He supposes that deep down, he must still be that man’s son after all.
That’s fine. Perfectly fine. If he wasn’t, then Hawks would have known exactly who he was before they’d ever even met. If he wasn’t, then he wouldn’t be doing any of this in the first place. He’ll live with it, like he lives with everything else.
But he had vaguely wondered, in the beginning, whether to come right out and reveal the truth of their bond to Hawks. If nothing else, it would shake that unflappable look off his face and uncover something real. At best, it could make him reconsider whose side he really ought to be on...
Of course he hadn’t. Hawks was a hero before he was anyone’s soulmate. It didn’t mean Dabi was meant to be with him, any more than his mother was supposed to be with his father. He doubted whether any hero could feel love for anything but themself, let alone the carefully groomed pet of the HSPC.
Still, it’s quite a few minutes before Dabi finally takes his eyes off the spot of night sky that Hawks had disappeared into, and turns to begin the long trek on foot to the League’s hideout. They’re not family, not even close. He’s never had friends, either...but he wonders if what he feels around some of them is what that’s like.
He’s never really thought about what having his soulmate by his side would be like. He knows for sure now that he would never have done anything for him: back then, he would never have chosen their connection over his hero worship, and now, it’s only a matter of time until he betrays him, destroying him in the name of this society of false heroes, just like his father before him.
Even if he had gone the rest of his life without putting a face to the name, he knows that Takami Keigo would always have done him more harm than good.
Todoroki Touya has always been alone, and that’s the way it’s going to stay.
But still...he thinks he just might tell Hawks their little secret one day. Just like all his others: when the time is right.

Then to further add to the chaos, whilst we were still recovering from the election, just 3 days later on November 8th (iirc) the MHA/BNHA fandom fucking imploded as Horikoshi finally revealed in the manga that Dabi was Touya Todoroki the whole time. Something that anyone with two working braincells obviously knew, but still to finally have it revealed to us during the war arc in the way that it was revealed was WILD. The fandom lost it’s collective shit and did a graceful pirouette off the proverbial handlebars into full meltdown mode.
But yeah, the week of November 2nd to November 8th 2020 was a fucking fever dream
yo it’s literally november 3rd. what’s next the 4th? and then. no it can’t be.

Sooo... heard my hero academia ended, how has that been?
i will admit i haven’t actually read the ending, as i dropped that shit back in 2020 right after the dabi reveal confirmed all of my many prexisting problems w the trajectory the plot was taking. but from what i have seen the ending was somehow worse than what i feared and also generally disappointing enough to rival that of the naruto ending. which seems ironically fitting as naruto was horikoshi’s initial inspiration for my hero. from what i gather most people just want to pretend the ending never happened, which i think speaks for itself.
i still love the characters and story for what they are and could have been, but sadly the writing was on the wall years back about how that shit was gonna go. to be blunt, horikoshi has always been a bit of a pussy, i think ive known that from the start. for as much as his initial ideas for the story seemed to actually push the necessary boundaries, he really did fold to the pressure of conformity right quick bout halfway through it. as sad as i was about dropping mha, i am thankful i dropped it when i did. i think it saved me just a bit of heartache, watching my worst fears come true in real time. i kept up w what was going on in the four years since i stopped keeping up w the manga, but everything ive seen only reinforced my reasons for leaving it behind. i do hope to finish reading it one day, for better or worse it’s the only non horror manga ive cared enough about to actually read. i loved that story, i loved those characters, i still do. it’s just sad their creator didn’t feel the same.
personally though as sad as it is i do love a graveyard media cause once it’s dead and buried we can basically do what we want. WITH RESPECT. it’s all of ours now. and if anything this shitty ass ending has actually made me want to work on my alternate universe fic for the first time in years. cause it may be shitty but at least it actually attempts to respect the subject matter and characters in a somewhat realistic way. mha deserved better, the kids deserved better, the villains deserved better, WE deserved better. guess that’s all i gotta say.

Dancing with Dabi: Incoming Tag Changes for My Hero Academia
Plus Ultra! My Hero Academia is going to be undergoing some changes over the next few months. As many manga followers are already aware, in November 2020, there was a major character reveal in Chapter 290. Consequently, we've made the decision to gradually update associated Character, Relationship, and Additional Tags to incorporate this information. We hope this will make it easier for the fandom as a whole to find the content they're looking for.
More detailed information about the changes we'll be making (as well as extensive spoilers) will be found under the cut, so if you're an anime-only fan or not up to date with reading the manga, please proceed with caution.
As many people have long suspected, Dabi was confirmed to be Todoroki Touya. Previous to this reveal, AO3 wranglers treated Todoroki Touya and Dabi as two separate characters. However, with this confirmation, we will now be merging the Dabi (My Hero Academia) and Todoroki Touya character tags together under a new character tag: Dabi | Todoroki Touya.
This follows the precedent set by Shigaraki Tomura | Shimura Tenko, as Dabi is the name that Dabi was introduced as and goes by predominately.
Please keep in mind that all current Dabi and Touya tags will be synned to these new canonicals, meaning that all works that were previously tagged with Dabi (My Hero Academia) or Todoroki Touya will be accessible through the new tag. There's no need to re-tag your work unless you wish to! You’re also free to continue tagging with either Dabi (My Hero Academia) or Todoroki Touya if you prefer.
Additionally, we will be making changes to several popular freeform tags to accommodate this new information. The tag Dabi is Todoroki Touya will become Dabi and Todoroki Touya are the Same Person, and Dabi is Not Todoroki Touya will become Dabi and Todoroki Touya are Different People. Additionally, we’ll be adding a canonical for the concept Todoroki Touya Never Became Dabi. We have also made the decision to leave Dabi is a Todoroki (My Hero Academia) as is. As with the character tags, these changes only impact the canonical tags and all previous tags will be accessible through these new tags, so there is no need to re-tag your works unless you wish to.
We ask you to be patient with us, as it will take us quite some time to update the many relationship tags and the numerous additional tags associated with these characters.
(From time to time, ao3org posts announcements of recent or upcoming wrangling changes on behalf of the Tag Wrangling Committee.)

In terms of writing, dabi > shigaraki atm. As a shiggy stan it does annoy me a bit. Shiggy was amazing back in 2020 but now you have people calling him mid tier villain and I can’t disagree with it. I blame it on deku’s arc and afo still being alive.
Yeah, sad as I am, I have to admit you are right. To be very honest, (and this is for me personally) I haven't had a memorable chapter the whole of 2021 save for maybe Touya's backstory. Ever since the War Arc got over, the manga feels as though the author has a checklist of items he got to finish and he is more focused in bringing the story to an end rather than writing coherent connecting arcs. The manga now reads like a different story altogether compared to the arcs written (and I especially loved) in 2019 and 2020. Even before that, the arcs were plenty interesting even for someone like me who isn't much invested in heroes.
The manga these days seems to be going at a breakneck pace (at the cost of much needed heartfelt moments between the kids such as aftermath of war where??) yet if you look at the overall picture, the story hasn't moved anywhere at all. We are at a standstill both on the heroes and the villains side. (I have many complaints about how the much awaited traitor plot was handled but I don't want to get into all that discourse so I will leave it at that lol)
Coming to Shigaraki, I guess this is all we will get to see from his pov, anon. The MVA arc and the War Arc (ch. 270 and Ch. 281 stands out both in writing and art) were the highlights of his character arc. Now that he is fighting for control, if I have to say, going forward his body will be taken over completely by AFO (so that Hero Deku can jump into save him). Meaning, he will simply become a puppet at the hands of his master and if we get to see him, it will be from either Deku, Spinner (and rest of LoV) and AFO's pov. I doubt we will see his coherent thoughts again (or at the most, we might get to see more of baby Tenko like we saw in Ch. 334). Most of the villains' side of the story, we will get to see from Toga, Touya and Spinner ig. Of course, AFO will pop in to mess up everything from time to time. I am waiting for the LoV to split away from AFO and his useless inefficient decisions.
I really don't want to compare Shigaraki's and Dabi's writing tbh, but the one common problem with both is that the abusive father figures are dominating the plots. We get to see more of Dabi because Endeavor isn't with him. But the rest of the Todofam? Do we never get to see any of their povs? Even Shouto has been shoved to a side in favor of his Dad who does nothing but feel pity for himself and how things turned out because of his own faults he isn't ready to admit yet. I have been seeing him from forever; I don't need more panels dedicated to him to know that He Is Sad. I really wanted to know the reactions of the rest of the family members (esp. Rei) post Dabi Reveal. Give me Natsu, Give me Fuyumi; I want to know what they are thinking about their long lost brother and their little brother who are the ones suffering the most atm. Shouto's "He is me" line was a good one esp. as he thinks back to his encounter with Dabi in the woods. But that was about it. I wanted at least a panel or two of Shouto talking to his Mom and his siblings before they went in to confront Endeavor. Why was all of that done offscreen? idk.
Also, the latest chapter? I know everyone seems very happy with it but is it just me or the Dabi we see in here either has had a big leap of character development or he is very out of character? I expected at least a scene between him and the rest of the League wherein they demand where his loyalty lies and then he realizes he has got to choose a side/he can't keep whittling himself away in the name of revenge/he has got people who care about him in his found family (and he cares about them too in some ways, of course coz Dabi isn't all that huge at showing emotions. The way he burnt down Toga's old house of abuse was sweet tho.) You know The Realization MomentTM before he starts warming up to the League? If I have to bet, that has been done offscreen as well :(

DABI REVEALED!
Tumblr media
By Autumn Bellflower on Tumblr
⚠️WARNING : SPOILERS AHEAD⚠️
Spoilers for my Hero academia manga about Dabi.
.
.
.
Hey! Autumn here:) your friendly news reporter. Today we shall be talking about Dabi and it will be short as it is night here and I need to sleep. Let's get into it !
It is canon!
Dabi's real identity is Todoroki Touya!
Today I shall be talking about his past which is not fully revealed I think? Because I feel like there is more to what has been revealed for now.
First let's go through the basics.
Who is Dabi?
Dabi is one of the antagonists from the anime and manga Boku no hero academia and yes I find him hot.
His quirk is cremation, basically, blue flames. Blue flames are stronger than regular flames.
Now let's get on with the main part of this post.
•On November 9, 2020
(yeah that was long ago...)
•Chapter 290 of the bnha manga was revealed. It was titled as Dabi's Dance. In the chapter :
•Dabi washes off dye from his hair and reveals to Shoto and Endeavor that they're his family. His black dye is gone and we can see that his actual hair color is white.
Tumblr media
•He reveals himself to be Toya Todoroki, Enji's eldest son and Shoto's eldest brother, who was thought to be dead up until now.
That was the big reveal, now it's time for his past, I'll share what I know.
•As a child, Toya was very energetic and boisterous, and he wanted to learn as much as he could from his father.
Tumblr media
•Because his father Enji had emphasized that he would be the one to surpass All Might since childhood, Toya became obsessed with the goal to fulfill that dream, becoming just as stubborn as his father to become the next number one.
•This drive to surpass All Might was so great that despite Enji continuously trying to tell him to abandon this goal and focus on something else in life, he refused and continued training, burning himself in the process.
Tumblr media
•After being abandoned by Enji, who became focused on Toya's youngest brother Shoto, Toya went through an existential crisis, crying out of frustration every night.
•The constant stress and suffering caused Toya to eventually lose his sanity.
•It was said that Touya's body burns everytime he uses his quirk due to his body being a little weak for his fire quirk.
•He originally had normal red orange flames which turned blue, as to why I will explain as you read further.
Tumblr media
•When Touya first saw Shoto, he was a baby, he tried to attack the child. That is the reason why Shoto was later distanced from his older siblings, due to Touya's actions.
•Touya didn't like Shoto ( I don't know if he was jealous of shoto but maybe?)
•Once the 13 year old Touya went up to Enji saying that the man should come to the mountain they usually train at. Enji had a strange feeling so he pulled up Touya's shirt to see burns all over him which angered and worried Enji. Touya stated that he might not be as good as Shoto but he is getting better.
•After a little drama, remember Touya is 13 right now, he waited for Enji to show up so he could show how much he improved. Reminder it is winter when this happened. But Enji didn't show up which emotionally affected Touya.
•The constant stress and suffering caused Toya to eventually lose his sanity. Which eventually led to him burning himself with his flames. During that emotional rollercoaster, his flames had turned blue
•And so it was said that Touya Todoroki the first son of Enji, was dead.
But he wasn't :D...
Tumblr media
•He faked his death and now is a homicidal maniac criminal who wants revenge :) And so he changed his name to Dabi.
~Also damn, Touya's hair evolution has more development than his character. it went from Red to White to Dye Black and then again White
And that is the conclusion of my report on Touya! Chapter 290 is called Dabi's Dance.
I think I have a thing for 2d guys with white hair and blue/turquoise eyes-
I mean.... Gojo and Touya!

Anyways thanks for reading this ( ◜‿◝ )♡

Happy 1 year to Dabi’s Dance animation!
I can’t believe how fast a year went by, I remember exactly on December 10th when this episode dropped last year, I started crying from happiness. I had been waiting for his dance to get animated for YEARS and it was finally here, and it didn’t disappoint at all.
To this day I still watch it and I can’t get tired of it, it’s genuinely one of the best moments in anime history. I remember how everyone went insane in the manga reveal in 2020, it even surpassed the 2020 elections. And the same happened last year with the animation.
My man always breaking the internet, what’s new?😌 he’s the best. He is the moment. I love him so much.

A Brief Retrospective Look At MVA (In The Anime)
Well. Here we are. Every end of the time is another begun. After what has felt like years of anticipation (mostly because it actually has been years), My Villain Academia has been fully animated. Well, "fully" may be the wrong word here, but that's something I'll get into later.
To honour the end of the arc, I decided to do two things: One, I re-read the entirety of the arc in the manga all in one sitting; Two, I rewatched all five episodes of the anime's adaptation back to back once again. My life is pain and I know not of sleep. Anyway, the reason I did this is because of a little project I proposed to myself back just before the first episode aired; Once MVA was done and dusted, I would go back and give my own retrospective on the whole thing. Because why the hell not, sounds like fun. This will also hopefully be less emotional than my thoughts I shared as the episodes were still airing, but who knows?
So, let's begin. And I wish to start by stating that My Villain Academia is my absolute favourite arc in the manga. It did a lot of things right. It focused entirely on my favourite faction, the villains. It offers a glimpse into their lives and goes a long way in humanising them, particularly Spinner and Shigaraki. It sets up key points for others too, such as Mr. Compress' habit of thinking more about the bigger picture than the others, which would factor into his major reveal during the Paranormal Liberation War and of course the formation of the Front itself. It introduced us to Rikiya Yotsubashi, one of my favourite characters in the manga, even if he honestly peaked in this arc and was never as good again. And it gave us a large-scale, grueling fight for supremacy in which I found myself actively rooting for the League. It is, in my mind, the very best of BNHA, the only arc I would want them to do well in the anime. They could screw up literally everything else and I would be happy if MVA was even just as good as the manga, it didn't even need to be better. I would have been delighted to have an excuse to experience the arc all over again, seeing my favourite moments with the sublime soundtrack and voice acting.
Yeah…
But before I get to that, let us take a little trip of sorts down memory lane to see the road to MVA, what led to it. So, 2021 rolls around. What a fun year. It's just 2020 without the excitement of everything being so uncertain, and frankly it's been really fucking boring as a year. However, BNHA Season Five was announced. In February, we get the first trailer for the upcoming season. It's... It's fine. Obviously, it focuses heavily on the Joint Training Arc (in fact, that is all it shows) and although I despise that arc with a passion, it's not too bad. I had not watched the anime since Overhaul ended, so my plan was I just wouldn't watch JTA and would wait until the big attraction, MVA. And so, Joint Training starts. And it goes on. And on. And on. I checked back almost two months later to discover it still wasn't over yet. Now I found this odd. Joint Training Arc was horrible for many reasons, but the big one was that it dragged on for so long as a result of Horikoshi's health complications, which is by no means his fault. But, surely the anime, which would consistently release on a weekly basis, wouldn't have the issues associated with this. Episodes of BNHA have always encompassed around three to five chapters, and Joint Training's were shorter than usual, so why was it taking more than ten episodes to adapt it?
Very strange, but I didn't question it much. Then, the key visuals released, confirming that MVA was at the very least happening. Great, wonderful. I love it. We've got the whole gang there, seeming like they're in Deika, looks pretty good.
Wait, did I say whole gang? Yeah, my bad, there was someone missing. Spinner. Now, I am not the biggest Spinner fan so I wasn't prepared to riot over his exclusion like I would have been if Compress wasn't in it. But this was starting to get strange. Spinner was the main narrator of MVA. Even if his importance was not on the level of Shigaraki, Twice and Toga, it was certainly more than Dabi and Compress, who did both appear in the art. Why was he excluded? Obviously, I bet you're all having a good old chuckle to yourselves right now because in retrospect, this makes perfect sense now.
Alright, then. I heard from a friend around June time that Joint Training was finally over. Awesome, great, time for the good stuff- why is there a Christmas episode here?
Yes, this was probably what really started to get the alarm bells in my mind going. The Christmas episode- in June. Very, very strange. Also, absolutely no mention of Rikiya, which even if they were reshuffling things, I would have expected him to appear in the episode of Bakugo and Todoroki getting their licenses, since it directly ties in. Concern levels rising, I shrugged it off and waited for next week.
Bam. Major reshuffling. Now, Endeavour Agency comes first, fuck you if you want context for who the hell the PLF are or the significance of Destro's memoirs. This was really starting to worry me now. I told myself that the key visual meant that MVA had to be happening, but it was starting to seem like the villains were being shafted. A fact not helped by the new OP.
Look, I'm sorry. I don't mean to complain or whine, but season five's second OP is just bad. The music is fine, I have no problem there. But the visuals are just awful. Not only is there an extended focus on that stupid bloody trio of Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki, not only is there more screentime given to characters who don't appear in MVA or EA than the main cast of the former, but the animation itself is just so stiff and lacking. It had potential, but the visuals are the worst out of any recent anime opening I've seen in a good few years and this was what got me really panicking.
Boom, a beach episode smack in the middle of Endeavour Agency to promote the upcoming movie. Boom, adapting two chapters per episode during EA. Boom, the Shirakumo episode, which I always thought was part of the War Arc and not EA. But finally, mercifully, the title leaks came and it was revealed that episode 20 of season five would be the start of MVA.
20. Out of 25. And it was pretty obvious that they weren't going to end the season with MVA, so really, up to 24. Ohhh no…
But hey, I'm an optimist sometimes. I was excited to just finally be clear of all this nonsense and get to the real good stuff. Hell, in preparation, I watched the entirety of the season up to that point. I finally realised why JTA took so long and it's one of the most depressing things I've ever learned, in a bad way. Were all those flashbacks really necessary? EA was okay, as someone who as a manga reader, already had the necessary context for the PLF stuff. The beach episode, I watched half of, got too bored and skipped the rest of. And you know what, I liked the Shirakumo chapters. They weren't as good in the anime, but it was nice to see.
And then, finally, in comes episode one of My Villain Academia, on a cold, dark August morning. I even bought Crunchyroll Premium to watch it as soon as possible, I was excited. All the messing around, all the crap, it was finally over and the time had come to enjoy what this season was really all about.
I can now safely say why Bones kept pushing back MVA, because if I was them, I would be embarrassed to show this.
No, that's not fair. I promised I wouldn't get too snarky, so let's reek things back in. As a whole, MVA has been… fine. Just fine. Not good enough to justify the bullshit, but not horrendous (mostly.) In fact, right now, I'll give a ranking of the episodes, my worst to best:
5) Episode One
4) Episode Two
3) Episode Three
2) Episode Five
1) Episode Four
Yeah. So, there's a clear pattern here, that things more or less got better as time went on. From just straight up bad, to still not great, to alright, to the final two episodes being what I would comfortably call good. This is not a good look. I'm sorry, but Episode One, an episode that I just called bad, is still one of the season's best in spite of that. That spells out awful things for this season as a whole. But what exactly made this such a disaster?
Well, cut content is the big thing. MVA in the anime cuts out:
The League's battle with the CRC
Their struggle with poverty
The sushi joke setup
All of Spinner's character
All of Rikiya's character, including most mentions of Detnerat and Miyashita
Fairly integral pieces of Skeptic's character
Most of Giran's integrity and bravery
This doesn't look too bad at first. It could be far worse. We got basically everything else from the arc, so what? Well, I would already be annoyed about all of these cuts, but the issue is that they cause a knock on effect. Without the establishment of the League's poverty, the payoff of Toga's duffle coat now makes no sense. Without the setup of Spinner's characterisation, his battle with Hanabata now feels hollow. Rikiya's surrender to the League now makes even less sense, as his love of human life and desire to cause no more death is completely non-existent. The first time Rikiya being a CEO is mentioned is in the closing minutes of the arc. The sushi scene is hamfisted into a two second flashback just so that the payoff makes some sort of sense, but again, it is hollow without it being at the start (this is also the first mention of the League's poverty and it literally happens just as they are freed from it.) Can you see how these little seemingly unimportant cuts spiral into bigger problems? I would have been pissed even if they hadn't caused some tremendous cascades, but the fact that they did just makes this from a subjective issue to an objective one.
Yes. They did some things well. Toga's backstory is mostly intact, SMP is just as satisfying as the manga, Tenko's backstory is one of the best things the anime has ever done, the awakening is very well done, I adore the PLF formation as much as I did in the manga. Everything important is intact, but as I keep saying, you cannot just keep the bare minimum and expect it to work. How about in the next arc, they decide to cut everything involving Bakugo out, and only keep him jumping in front of Midoriya because it's the only absolutely necessary thing he does in the arc? People would be pissed, and it's the same thing that's happening here. It's a problem, it's not just a bad adaptation, it leads to bad storytelling in general.
The animation. Now, I do not believe this is a be all, end all. BNHA's anime is never going to look as gorgeous as Horikoshi's art, that is a fact and I do not begrudge them for that. They have a week to draw hundreds upon hundreds of frames, it's not a process that lends itself well to good looks and the animators and artists do their best with what they have. This does not change the fact that it is extremely hit or miss. Some things, Tenko's backstory in particular, look fantastic. Other things, mostly every action scene, make me laugh at how bad they can look and some things, particularly Twice and Re-Destro's hideous designs in the anime, make me cringe. The lighting is also an issue. Garaki's lab looked fantastic, but every other scene is just boring mid-afternoon with dull, basic lighting. I don't expect huge detail, but sometimes, it fails to achieve competency and as an extremely popular show, I don't think that's okay. I don't blame the animators, I blame the higher ups. And while I wouldn't mind the poor animation and art in an MVA that at least has all the story content, this does not have that and so I am even harsher than I would have been.
MVA was rushed. That's not up for debate. It took forever to get to it and once it came, things moved so quickly that they gave me whiplash, with no time to think or lament. Now, this could be attributed to the story structure of the arc, which is essentially a series of big fights, and it just isn't as bad in the manga because I can stop at any time to catch my breath. But I think it's worth noting that the anime at least highlights these issues. Curious dies in the same episode where she first appears, really driving home how pointless she was in the end. Episode Two alone tries to cover everything from the journey to Deika up until Jin finding Toga's body. That's a lot of content to fit in one twenty minute period and it was bound to feel messy in the end. I will say that, much like everything aside from the animation, this did get better as time went on, with episodes three, four and five adapting more reasonable amounts of content, compared to one giving us almost nothing and two giving us too much.
At the end of the day, that was it. The show's over. MVA has been closed in the anime. It will never be given a chance to improve, to go from just fine to anything even close to the manga. Why did this happen? I don't think we'll ever truly know. Some blame the new movie, others the studio's lack of faith in the villains, and there are those who say that it's just how fate turned out. I personally think it's a combination of all of these things. Without the movie, that beach episode wouldn't exist, giving more time to MVA, without the studio's hesitation, we'd perhaps get stuff like an actual good OP and perhaps some more general hype for it (I mean, MVA didn't even get a trailer.) Whatever the reason is, we got what we got. My verdict is something that's very overplayed as of late, but seriously, just read the manga with the fantastic soundtrack playing in the background. The anime's adaptation of MVA is not worth the time investment, when you could read the manga in roughly the same length of time and get more content, a more coherent plot and beautiful artwork.
So, what may come next for Season Six? I don't know. Season Five has definitely been one of the most unpopular seasons in the anime, with a lot of people speaking out against it, but this mostly seems to come from the Western fanbase, so it's up in the air if Bones will learn from their mistakes. Since they'll have a full season to do presumably the War and Rouge Deku arcs, then I feel like they'll put on a better show. But we just don't know. Spinner had his spotlight stolen this time around, will Compress suffer the same fate in Season Six? Dabi and Toga will probably be handled well, since they have inexplicably high amounts of popularity, but with his own lack of recognition rivalling Spinner's, I can see Sako ending up much the same way. Time will tell, I suppose.

A/N: Please be sure to reblog, comment, review, and like if you enjoy! Feedback is what keeps me motivated! So sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted- between holidays, work, and this being a generally not great time of year for me there hasn’t been much room for writing. As you can see though, recent manga events totally inspired me for one last story in 2020 for ya!
Tumblr media
He liked going out once the sun had set. Daylight hadn’t been his friend for a long time, and whatever lurked in the shadows grew disinterested as the glow of his cigarette illuminated his staples when he passed, aware of who they were seeing but uninclined to make a report.
How could they really? By day they walked the streets freely, unassuming, but beneath the moon they found sick pleasures in ways that would make any hero grimace. As dangerous as they were it couldn’t compare to the likes of him—the deranged and recognizable with only a quick glance that sent chills down the spines of millions.
He slept during the day and rose at dusk to begin sowing chaos. After all, the freaks come out at night.
The long since burned out butt of his cigarette dropped from between his lips as he approached one of the seedier bars in the slums of town. Whatever its name is or was had been lost to time and inattention to the sign hanging askew over the door but damn, they had the strongest liquor in the city and a reputation for looking the other way when criminals passed through the door. Hazy smoke stung at his eyes and throat as he entered but he’d been used to that for nearly three decades and really, what was another lungful when they were burned to hell as it was?
The blonde bartender gave him a curt nod from across the room, already reaching for the amber bottle he knew Dabi favored. Around the room were other patrons that gave an assessing glance in his direction before turning back to their drinks. All but one turned his way.
In the darkest corner of the bar sat a woman with her back to the room. He couldn’t see her face, just the contrast of her revealing shirt against the skin of her chest, but he was interested. The mysterious chick vibe always did do him in.
“What’s a cute little thing like you doing here alone?” he asked as he approached her table.
“Cute?” she scoffed, dark-lined eye rolling in clear annoyance. “You really think that?”
In what seemed like a well-practiced move she tossed her hair over her left shoulder and pulled the already low collar of her shirt down further to expose more of her chest and shoulder. Smooth skin bled into a gradient of marled blotches of red and purple burn scars, the severity of which he’d only ever seen in the mirror.
“You wanna rethink that ‘cute’ comment?” she challenged without so much as a glance at his slightly parted lips.
“Yeah,” he breathed out with a nod. “Think I wanna change it to gorgeous.”
“Look, if you wanna know how I got ‘em just ask so I can tell you to… fuck off… already…” her voice trailed off after she looked up, haughty attitude dropping as she took in the darkened skin on his face and chest. She marveled at the handsome features still so clearly defined beneath the burns and the glint of his staples in the fluorescent lights.
Seeing interest cloud over her eyes as she trailed them over his face and down his body, he seated himself in the chair across from her and folded his hands around his glass on the table.
Tumblr media
The rough rhythm of his hips against hers scraped her back against the gnarled wood of her bedroom door and drove the staples in his lower stomach into hers but she couldn’t find it in herself to care when it felt so good. As thin as he was he was able to lift her thighs around his waist and hold her with one hand while the other pressed against her throat.
“Fuck, please,” she panted, head spinning but wanting more.
“Ah, ah, ah,” he teased, “you already got two and I haven’t even had one yet. Not exactly fair, is it?”
“Dabi!” she groaned.
He huffed out a laugh as he buried his face in her shoulder, licking at the bead of sweat that trailed from her hairline. He was close so she really wouldn’t need to wait long considering the pleasure pooling in his lower stomach was building with each smack of skin on skin.
His hand left her throat to wrap around her other thigh so he could quickly readjust his grip. Pulling her back from the door, he bounced her against him as he carried her the short distance to her bed. He sat back against the wall and guided her hips against him, smirking at her eagerness as she started riding him desperately.
She gasped when one of his hands drifted between her legs and another type of warmth spread through her. “Fuck!”
“That’s what we’re here for,” he scoffed, his other hand coming up to grip her throat once again.
A few more rotations of her hips had him surging forward to sink his teeth into her scarred shoulder as his hand between her legs drew tight circles on her clit, both of them breathing hard as they met their ends.
She slumped forward, breathing heavily as he held her steady against him while they caught their breath and heartbeats slowed. When he finally felt the calm sweep over him he guided her down to lay beside him before reaching to her night table for the pack of cigarettes he’d spotted. Placing one between his lips, he ignited a small blue flame at his fingertip to light it.
“Is that how you got your burns?” she asked in a whisper, eyes half-lidded.
He stared straight ahead, cheeks hollowing even further as he took a drag. Without looking he took it in two fingers and passed it towards her through a cloud of smoke. She grabbed it and placed it between her own lips.
“Mine are from a hero,” she said after blowing out her own puff.
His eyebrows raised and he looked down at where she laid, interest alight in his turquoise eyes.
“I used to work in this high-rise building in the western district, did normal office type shit you know? Sent faxes and filed documents everyone thought I was too fuckin’ stupid to understand because I grew up poor and quirkless,” she started. “Some low-level villains attacked a few blocks away and when the heroes came the fight was small enough that we didn’t get evacuated. We couldn’t even see anything, all we heard were sirens and for that district its background noise anyway. But then Endeavor showed up.”
Dabi stiffened as she handed the cigarette back though she didn’t seem to notice as she continued.
“He blew the fight out of proportion to make a bigger show of capturing the villains I’m sure, but when he did it lead them towards our building. Three quarters of the floors were engulfed within ten minutes.”
“Lemme guess, your floor was lucky enough to be one of ‘em?”
She hummed. “Yeah, lucky enough to land me some wicked burns and a high as fuck medical bill.”
“What? The Hero Commission didn’t cover it?”
“Nope. None of it. Despite being told not to evacuate because we were farther from the initial attack and then being caught in the crossfire that we literally had no choice in, we were told that only loss of life would be covered by their insurance payout.”
“Zero casualties?”
“How’d you know?” she drawled, reaching for the cigarette once again. “Never fucking mind that I have limited mobility with my left arm that literally impacts my day to day life or how I can’t go anywhere without being stared at like a sideshow act or that the company I worked for dissolved their branch in the district. All because of some asshole looking for glory from a fight he didn’t need to be in.”
He chuckled as he watched her finish off the cigarette and stub out the last few embers in the ashtray on her opposite night table. This chick was something else.
“How’d you feel if I told you I got my burns from Endeavor too?” he asked.
Now it was her turn for her eyebrows to rise with intrigue. “I’d ask how, when, and why the fuck you didn’t melt his face off.”
“I was just a kid,” he shrugged.
“Endeavor—”
“—wanted to make sure his son could surpass All Might. Didn’t go according to plan, at least not with me.”
Her eyes widened.
“Pushed a bit too hard on a kid who could produce flames so much hotter than his. Surprised it took so long if I’m honest, but it doesn’t matter. I’m going to kill him.”
She sat up, slowly bringing her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them, eyes twinkling with wonder. “You’re really going to kill him?”
“It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, baby,” he said with a smirk. “What—you wanna watch?”
“Fuck yes,” she breathed out. “He needs to burn. Just like we did.”
A blue flame ignited and danced in his palm. She could feel the heat on her face but it didn’t scare her like most would assume. The fire wasn’t at fault for her pain, the false hero who wielded it had been.
She looked between the flames and his handsomely stapled face.
“How can I help? I want to be a part of taking down Endeavor.”
He closed his hand and the fire disappeared in a wisp of smoke. Reaching over, he fisted the hair at the nape of her neck and brought her closer.
“I’ll let you help sweetheart,” he laughed, “but the best thing you can do right now to help me is to put that pretty mouth to work. You’re still at three while I’ve only got one.”
Tumblr media
“THE PAST NEVER DIES!”
The corners of her lips curled upwards in a smirk as the broadcast overtook the large billboard in downtown Tokyo, projecting the voice of a now white-haired Dabi. He steamed from his quirk being overused but also from the outpouring of emotion he was finally able to confront his family with.
“Oh Dabi,” she sighed fondly.
Vengeance years in the making was unfolding in front of the entire country in real time and she was privileged enough to know it had been coming. She knew the plan and she knew the backup plans and she was essential to the very last resort plan too. Her own revenge was being carried out though not by her own hand. At least not directly.
She looked down to the slightly rounded bump beneath her sweater, caressing it gently.
“If he doesn’t kill him, I’ll make sure you do for him,” she murmured with a smile.
Tumblr media
A/N: Please be sure to reblog, comment, review, and like if you enjoy! Feedback is what keeps me motivated! Good heavens, its been a while since I’ve done smut so that was an experience lmao. Anyway, Dabi is such a fun character for me to write and I love exploring different emotions for him!

CONTENT CREATOR: 2020 IN REVIEW
tagged by the best beans @zofias and @kamalaskhans, thanks buds! :D
first creation and most recent creation of 2020:
first creation: ace & sabo in one piece: stampede wow that feels like years ago
most recent creation: just posted a sailor moon/wonder woman parallel bc QUEENS
one of your favourite creations from 2020:
jepser fahey bc wow do i miss having that type of inspiration
a creation you’re really proud of:
tony stark didn’t think it was going to turn out how i wanted but it pretty much did???
a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it:
manga colouring for the first time with oikawa tooru
trying my hand at colouring with my most tragic beans (pepperony)
blending for the first time with pepperony
playing around with gifs on top of gifs for morgan and tony
a creation that took you forever:
oh definitely the pepper loving tony throughout the years gifset
also the gif in pepperony’s first dance i had to do that frame-by-frame which is A LOT
your creation from 2020 that received the most notes:
tony stark parallel from iron man 2 and what if...?
but second place goes to tony stark with a naruto quote so that’s fun :D
a creation you think deserved more notes:
honestly i wish the first wangxian gifset i did with the old guard quote got more notes than it had bc that was just sad to see :(
a creation with a favourite scene/quote:
chuuya’s entrance
oikawa’s appearances after the timeskip (gotta choose both bc they’re both KINGS)
a new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it:
i joined so many fandoms this year but let’s go with the wangxian + delicate one i did
a creation you made that breaks your heart:
jfaldfja i basically just make a lot of sad edits but for this game i’ll go with the wei wuxian and jiang yanli one that made me cry
a ‘simple’ creation that you really love:
this pepperony gifset bc i just really love the contrasts between their first and last scenes in the iron man mask in avengers (like the cool colouring in the beginning vs. the hot in the ending and the happiness vs. sadness) liek it’s all there in that scene and i love it and hate it
a creation that was inspired by another one (add both your creation and the one that inspired it!):
ironfam inspired by the incredibly talented @sersi (star wars version)
but also tony stark inspired by the amazing @catchingmydeatth (rey version)
a favourite creation created by someone else: (in no particular order)
oh i have so many aldjfakd going through my fav tag is the best idea but let’s see:
the arthur/gwen&barry/iris parallel gifset by @iriswestsallen bc that edit was so beautiful and wonderfully done that it literally started my entire fav tag !!
obviously this tony stark edit (it was made for me okay), but also soukoku (that coin is the best thing of life), pevensies + times of day (i’m screaming, especially over that blue for edmund!), dabi's reveal (the colouring is everything!! even with the lyrics which was TOTALLY done to spite me :/), but also the miles morales edit and all the writing and the small little snippets and of course the shitposts that are done by @hauntedthief - i love the fact that i get to see all the edits and writing pieces before they even get posted, like from start to finish, it’s the best
the iconic miles morales edit by @wonderwomans and the tony stark gifset (i’m biased but it was made for me :D) but also kesh has all of the talent in the world, no lies, bc her soukoku au tears me to pieces and puts me back together again jsut to do it all over again. legit kesh your talent is unparalleled, holy fuck
anything and everything made by @kamalaskhans but i am always going to be in love with this tony stark gifset sameera made bc everything is so perfect in it, like next level stuff right here. wow, the most talented gif maker creating such a masterpiece, i am in love

BnHA Chapter 268: Please Don’t Tap on the Glass
Previously on BnHA: Dabi revealed his true identity to Hawks! His real name is actually [sound of semi truck horns blaring]. What’s that? You didn’t hear me? I said it’s [sound of dolphins chattering]. You really need to listen better. Anyway, so Dabi set Hawks on fire a bunch of times, and Hawks had some flashbacks indicating that Endeavor saved him when he was a small child, and just when it was starting to look like we might get our second tragic death chapter in a row, Tokoyami showed up to defend his mentor! Meanwhile in Jakku, Miruko remembered that even though kicking ass is fun and she’s really good at it, she still had a job to do, so she sped off toward Ujiko’s little hideaway, getting stabbed and impaled a bunch of times along the way and losing an ear and shit (I very much look forward to the cyberpunk robot-limbed Miruko 2.0 that we had better fucking get once this arc is over). Fortunately Endeavor showed up to help her out! Anyway, so absolutely no one was talking about this last week, but the chapter totally ended with Miruko about to bust open Tomura’s bacta tank with a badass roundhouse kick, so, uh. Shit might be about to go down you guys.
Today on BnHA: Shit does indeed go down, but at a very languid pace. Ujiko apparently built Tomura’s holding tank out of Nokia phones and kevlar, so even though Miruko gets a few good kicks in, she ultimately doesn’t do more than just crack it. So now the tank is just standing there leaking ominously while Ujiko sobs for no reason and we all ponder whether or not a 75%-charged Tomura will be any less doom-harbinging than the full-fledged deal. In the meantime we’ve got Girl Noumu thinking strategic thoughts and chucking acid at peeps; Crust still doing absolutely nothing; Endeavor not doing that much better to be honest; and Mic and Aizawa ready and raring to go kill the old man who turned their dead buddy into a sentient Einstein-Rosen bridge. Obviously I’m all in favor of this last bit, but I’m also on team “Mic and Aizawa not dying horribly” though, so. I do have some concerns here.
full disclosure, I’m very sleep-deprived for various reasons related to various things which can be broadly summed up as Just 2020 In General. so anyway, I’m dealing with it, but I’ve noticed that my rate of typos and errors and such has shot waaaaay up in this past week or so, so I’m just putting that out there that you may find some weird shit in this post! maybe I will write the same sentence maybe I will write the same sentence multiple times, or or the same word twice in a row by mistake, or use the completely wrong word. you are more than welcome to point this out and I will not take any offense and will indeed be grateful because I’ve apparently gone blind to it all! anyway so how are you I hope everyone is well
anyway! the chapter is early (god for all I know it’s been out for hours already. HOW FAR BEHIND AM I) so I’m recapping it early so that I will have more time to play Animal Crossing and fish and craft all of my troubles away. speaking of which Horikoshi, you had better not bring me any troubles this week, I am not in the mood do you hear
good fucking lord
Tumblr media
is all of that Miruko’s blood??!? god, she’s even better at bleeding than everyone else. now hold up all you excited vampires, you all can get in line, I was here first
by the way Endeavor, I gave you a pass last week because your entrance was so fucking raw and you saved my girl’s life and that was really neat my man. but now that I’ve recovered from my shock and awe and am ready to be sarcastic once more, I just want to say... welcome to the party, guy. did you stop for drive-thru on your commute from the other side of the planet. were you simply not immune to the bizarre 5th dimensional time-stands-still effects of March 2020. are you curious at all how your son has changed during these past 20 years, and by “son” I am referring not to Dabi, but Shouto. are you looking forward to meeting all of Shouto’s children. are you excited to be a granddad. anyway thank you so fucking much for finally making your way down to this lair with all the speed and haste of a federal appeals process
and I see Crust is still fighting this guy after six decades
Tumblr media
(ETA: I would be more upset about the scan quality here, but let’s face it, nobody actually cares about seeing this in HD. I’m sorry Crust.)
and we’re really expected to believe this is the very next ranked hero below Miruko. could it be that the hero ranking system is actually flawed. don’t tell me. I’m just as shocked as you are
seriously??
Tumblr media
are we really going to stop and chat with Geriatric Hero: Crust over here. really. far be it from me to tell you how to do your job, Number One. but I’m just saying, I’m pretty sure he does still have... let’s just check... one... two... yep, two arms. not that I’m saying your system for prioritizing which of your fellow heroes to help out should be based off of the number of arms they have. but also I am saying that
OH SONNY BOY
Tumblr media
is that a two-page panel of Aizawa Hatake Kakashi Shouta and his loyal husband Screaming Man leaping into the fray to take on some high end Noumus with their bad and sexy selves. I think that’s exactly what it is. are we blessed or are we blessed. Aizawa I’m pleased to see you haven’t aged a day and are looking just as fine as ever in this the year 2045
oh wow Endeavor I thought you had incinerated it
Tumblr media
why wouldn’t you incinerate it. please incinerate it. did you not learn your lesson. please don’t start taking your cues from Dilly Dally Hero: Crust over here
oh wow
Tumblr media
and yet Miruko was kicking all of their asses like they were made of plywood. really though guys. only number five. okay
Aizawa’s shouting that he wasn’t able to erase that last Noumu who was impaling Miruko because his vision was obstructed. that’s okay Aizawa, that’s why Endeavor is hopefully about to incinerate him
oh snap here we go
Tumblr media
again, one has to wonder what kinds of interactions with rabbits Horikoshi has had in his troubled young life so as to influence his writing of Miruko’s quirk in such a way. did you at some point get rabbits confused with... I don’t even know. polar bears?! not that I’m fucking complaining holy shit
anyway, so just a friendly reminder that if Miruko dies here I will in fact push the button which triggers the hidden ejector seat built into Horikoshi’s office chair. he will be missed. but he had a good run
ho lyyyyyyy shit
Tumblr media
so... Miruko I love you but... then why would you break the fucking vat apart with your moon-powered legs. Miruko. Miruko are you listening. oh shit she’s missing an ear I forgot. oh shit. oh shit
Tumblr media
MIRUKO I LOVE YOU SO MUCH BUT WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T YOU JUST KICK THE BALD MAN IN THE LAB COAT INSTEAD goddammit well it’s been nice knowing y’all
well then. so this is happening. this is really happening. at least she saved us all from having to face the 100%-charged world-ending Tomura somewhere down the line. instead all we have to do is face the 74%-charged Tomura right fucking now. so that’s. ...I wonder how Tokoyami is doing
holy shit!
Tumblr media
leave it to Girl Noumu to be the smart one. for a minute I thought maybe Ujiko had given her Ragdoll’s long-lost quirk. but then I realized that this isn’t a quirk at all, this is just her being smart and using her Big Noumu Brain. anyway so I’m preemptively sorry for having to root against you, Girl Noumu
so now she’s pondering how to disable Aizawa’s quirk. meanwhile I just remembered that we haven’t seen her quirk yet I think. please let it be something good
oh snap she ran away and made it out of Aizawa’s sight range oh fuck
Tumblr media
the fuck is up with this thicc fucking Girl Noumu page I can’t tell wtf is going on
LOL OH SHIT
Tumblr media
NOT TO WORRY GUYS SHE’S JUST SHOOTING BIG GIANT GLOBS OF ACID AT EVERYONE. can anyone tell if Endeavor has incinerated this Noumu yet down in the middle panel on the left. what is the fucking holdup
and now there’s a big double page of Miruko shattering Tomura’s Noumu Vat, and I can’t quite tell, but it looks like her eyes might be rolling back in a way which I decidedly do not like
(ETA: nah on closer inspection we’re good.)
Tumblr media
didn’t she just do this like four pages ago. and how the hell did Tomura suddenly jump from 74% to 75% in like .2 seconds
oh thank god she’s still awake. but now she’s being dragged back now by the Noumu’s bone appendage things because Endeavor SERIOUSLY CANNOT GET HIS FUCKING ACT TOGETHER LONG ENOUGH TO FUCKING LIGHT ITS BRAIN TO ASHES ALREADY, LIKE SERIOUSLY THOUGH. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF THAT TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING FAST AND THE DIFFERENCE A SPLIT SECOND MAKES
Miruko if we make it out of this alive, I’m promoting you to number one. Fatgum will be number two. the only two pro heroes in this arc who have actually impressed me at all. shame on the rest of you. shame
so now somehow or some way Miruko is being flung into Endeavor at the speed of light
Tumblr media
I don’t understand this at all. did the Noumu retract those bone whips back into its body superfast while dragging Miruko back with them and somehow it managed to avoid being hit by her projectile body but Endeavor took the impact straight on. this doesn’t make any kind of sense to me with my admittedly rudimentary understanding of physics. but then again it is a fucking manga so I’m not about to call NASA and ask them if this could really happen. so this was a waste of a paragraph I guess!! my bad!!
swear to god this is like the fifth panel of Ujiko just screaming. please just stop. what do you have to be worried about anyway? although if Tomura suddenly went crazy upon awakening and just straight up killed you for no reason, that sure would be delightful! that wouldn’t happen, though. or would it
WHAT IS THIS FUCKING FISH TANK MADE OF
Tumblr media
IS THIS A TUBE OF GLASS OR A FUCKING FALLOUT SHELTER
ENDEAVOR I’M GLAD YOU’RE CONCERNED ABOUT MIRUKO BECAUSE I AM TOO, AND ALSO IT’S ALWAYS NICE TO SEE THAT YOU DO HAVE A HEART, BUT ALSO MAYBE JUST LEAVE HER FOR NOW THOUGH, SERIOUSLY??
Tumblr media
though on the other hand it’s already too late to stop this inevitable tide, so maybe at this point they should all just get the fuck out of there instead. at least Miruko did her fucking job and saved you all from having to face the invincible unstoppable version. that’ll be a real comfort to everyone when he’s out laying waste to the countryside, I’m sure. but still
-- oh no
Tumblr media
the boys heard that. listen you guys, I want Ujiko to die as much as anyone, but I’m gonna need you to not go anywhere near Shigaraki fucking Tomura now or ever. please. do you hear me?? you two still have both of your ears goddammit I want some acknowledgement
-- NO!!!
Tumblr media
(ETA: is that. a fucking Tomura dialogue bubble. something stirs in the east. a sleepless malice. the eyes of the enemy are moving.)
THE MANGA GIVETH AND THE MANGA TAKETH AWAY nooooo from 20 pages last week back down to the usual 17. I got spoiled. I expected too much. sob
so now we settle in to wait two weeks to see if Mic’s piercing tones can shatter this fucking adamantium tank like a wine glass. I’m not sure I’m ready for the Noumuraki Tomuracalpse you guys. then again by this point I’m braced for just about anything though so bring it

Note
I don't know if you will remember but what was the moment when you was sure that Dabi was Touya Todoroki and you had no questions or hardly any questions about it?
Well I only got into BNHA a year ago
I started with the anime and then I caught up on the manga around October 2020 and started reading the chapters as they came out around that time. So there wasn’t a lot of time for me to speculate. I also didn’t spend as much time analyzing and looking at foreshadowing until a little after that either.
I knew I wanted Shigaraki, Toga, and Touya redeemed and saved but I wasn’t as hopeful until I started getting on tumblr again (I hadn’t touched my tumblr for almost a decade at this point).
So honestly when the reveal happened is when I was sure of it 😂
