"Because I'm afraid you might try feed me chalk if I do." Bucky mutters, his voice deadpan. He does, however, take a step closer. Eyes look to Charlie with interest. He can't figure him out. They're about as opposite and two people can be and yet he sorta enjoys his company. Charlie is so free. It's a concept that he can't fully wrap his head around, too chained to his past and the things he's done to fully find himself. "What is it?"

it's not often that he's sappy with anyone else in the gang besides dennis. it's not really his thing. plus, he hates most of them. dee's a bitch, frank is an old bastard, and charlie . . . well, he likes charlie. loves him, even. but charlie is his friend, and guys don't profess their love to their buddies. that's gay. but he's gay now, so he figures he can get away with it.

charlie looks shocked, like he'd never expected to hear those words coming from his best friend. weird. if mac really pondered on it, he'd probably be concerned that charlie isn't accustomed to displays of open affection. but mac isn't a ponderer . . . is that a word? either way, he's not one, so instead of pondering, he simply grins; wide, toothy, lopsided. some things never change, and he figures he'll probably be giving charlie that shit - eating grin until they're old as shit and have prune-y balls.

"well, yeah," he raises his shoulders in a shrug, quick to dismiss charlie's returned sentiments with a wave of his hand, wrist limp. "that's cool and all, char, but i wouldn't need your rope. or your bat basher. or your glue, cuz what the hell am i supposed to do with that when i'm tryin' to kick someone's ass?" he scoffs, raises his chin and puffs out his chest in a ridiculous display of masculinity.

smile drops, however, when his buddy mentions the bathroom. god dammit. god dammit, this is karma for being nice, isn't it? this is why dennis and dee are never nice. lips curl into a scowl, and he defiantly shakes his head. "what? no way," he proclaims firmly, "i'm not touchin' those toilets. or those shit - smeared walls, cuz . . . " voice trails off, words falling flat. gears turn in his head. "cuz you're so awesome at it, bro. obviously. i mean, you've probably got a system goin' and everything and i'm not a fast learner. you'd hate teachin' me." nice save. point: mac.

eyes are still firmly locked to their novel, this conversation not yet interesting enough for them to tear their attention away from it. ❛ charlie... there are so many different people who use typewriters. writers, hipsters, those morons who call themselves artistes...❜ they fight the temptation to throw in a few choice words and insults his way, as strong as the urge may be. ❛ including myself. but i use them to be pretentious and off-putting. and i imagine a certain friend of yours probably would as well. i won't name names but when we first met, he called himself a god. and i called him delusional. ❜

Of course Mr. Kelly feels better: all he needed was a couple of IVs and a few nights of rest to be as good as new, despite Cuddy’s early ideas that forced this case upon him.

But as he diagnosed him, House had found more to this new patient than met the eye: he was a bit of a medical marvel, capable of withstanding a lot of the stupid shit it was put through, and House wanted to poke and prod him until he understood just how he worked—especially in the head.

So, he needed an excuse to get him to stay.

However, he figures that Charlie doesn't need to hear all about his sleeping problems. Plus, it's not all bad - The time awake got him a new high score on Tetris. He's silent for a moment, unsure of what to even say. It's been a while since he's done this sort of thing. "Did you have a good sleep?"
