OF THE MUSES: the existential universe of her sophomore album

"Underheavens— Of Blood, Ghosts and Saltwater" is the evocative title to OF THE MUSES' new album. Cristina Rombi, mind and soul of the project, is now in Brussels, Belgium, to record the new album. The potent production of Opus Magnum Studio, ran by famed producer and musician Déhà (Slow, ex-Dropdead Chaos, Wolvennest among others) will definitively shape the sound of the Italian artist's newest endeavor.

If with "Senhal" Cristina Rombi ushered us into a world of poetry, anger and melancholy, for "Underheavens— Of Blood, Ghosts And Saltwater", the talented Italian multi-instrumentalist will take us into a very private and intimate universe equally full of pain, but painted with utterly vulnerable and existential tinges, no longer conveyed through the extremism of screams, blastbeats and distortions, but rather with impressive emotional depth and staggering transparency both in lyrical themes and musical delivery.

Explains Cristina: "While I'm still internally debating whether or not 'concept album' is an appropriate definition, I can definitely say there's a red thread weaving together the sonic and lyrical tapestry of this album. At its core, this is an album about addiction, illness and losing a parent to AIDS during the health crisis of the 80s/early 90s, back when HIV was still an irrevocable death sentence. But in a broader sense, it's also about breaking cycles, finding closure, the devastating consequences of dehumanization and erasure, reckoning with life and death and what to do with the time we're granted here on Earth. It's really important for me to get these songs and these stories out there and I hope you will find them worthy of your time and attention".

We are deeply proud of what is about to emerge and incredibly eager to share it with all of you. "Underheavens— Of Blood, Ghosts And Saltwater" will be released next spring on My Kingdom Music on CD, vinyl and digital; further details to be revealed soon.

"Underheavens— Of Blood, Ghosts And Saltwater" è l'evocativo titolo del nuovo album di OF THE MUSES. Cristina Rombi, mente ed anima del progetto, è volata in Belgio, a Bruxelles, per registrare il nuovo album presso gli Opus Magnum Studio del grande produttore e musicista Déhà (Slow, ex-Dropdead Chaos, Wolvennest tra gli altri) il quale ha il compito di plasmare definitivamente il suono potente della nuova ceratura dell'artista italiana. Se con "Senhal" Cristina, ci aveva introdotto in un mondo di poesia, rabbia e malinconia, con "Underheavens— Of Blood, Ghosts And Saltwater", la talentuosa polistrumentista italiana ci accompagnerà in un universo molto intimo e personale altrettanto ricco di dolore, ma dipinto con tinte vulnerabili ed esistenziali, espresse non più attraverso l'estremismo di urla, blastbeat e distorsioni, ma con una impressionante profondità emotiva e tagliente trasparenza, sia nel tema trattato, che per come questo viene manifestato in Arte, musica e parole. Più di tutto, è un album che parla di malattia, dipendenze e del perdere un genitore a causa dell’AIDS durante l'epidemia degli anni ottanta e novanta, quando ancora questa patologia equivaleva a una vera e propria condanna a morte. Ma è anche un disco sull'accettazione, sull'interrompere i cicli, sulle conseguenze devastanti della deumanizzazione e dell'invisibilizzazione, sul rapportarsi con l'idea della morte e sull'uso del tempo che ci è concesso sulla Terra. È davvero importante per me condividere queste canzoni e queste storie, e spero le riterrete degne della vostra attenzione".

HORRIBLE – Filth

Horrible est un défouloir qui crache à la face du monde ce que celui-ci lui inspire : dépravation, crasse et répulsion. Né en 2019 sous l'impulsion de Jonas Sanders (Pro-Pain) et d'Olivier Dris (Resistance), Horrible prend sa forme définitive en 2022 avec l'arrivée de Déhà (Dropdead Chaos, Silver Knife), Sven Leyemberg (Killthelogo) et Benoit Sizaire (Resistance).

Brutal et frontal sont sur le bateau Horrible, aucun tombe dans l’eau. Le combo déverse son alliage "straight to your face" d’hardcore, grind, death par-dessus bord et fait monter le niveau de l’amer violence à son incandescence.

Pour la faire courte, le disque est un découpeur de hippies à la tronçonneuse, les dérives négatives et régressives poussent au forceps leur misanthropie ravageuse, et vous essayerez de vous raccrocher à la dernière branche pour ne pas être emportée par cette brutalité musicale.

Le single « FILTH » " représente le point de départ du groupe. On y retrouve les styles prédominants qui forment l'entité Horrible : un metal moderne allant de nos racines hardcore au grind, alliant riffs classiques et éléments noisy, aux multiples tessitures vocales. Il est direct et brutal et représentatif de notre monde actuel : Horrible!" dixit le groupe
