"...AN ASSASSIN AND THULE SOCIETY MEMBER, RENOWNED FOR HIA SPORTSMANSHIP..."
PIC INFO: Resolution at 965x1400 -- Spotlight on a promotional shot of Nazi SS scientist, member of the occult Thule Society, and comic book movie villain, Karl Ruprecht Kroenen (played by Czech actor Ladislav Beran), from the American sci-fi/comic book/action movie "Hellboy" (2004), written & directed by Guillermo del Toro.
MINI-OVERVIEW: "Director Guillermo del Toro created a significantly expanded biography for the character, to appear as a villain in the 2004 film adaptation. In the movie adaptation of "Hellboy," Kroenen's character is altered to have him as an assassin and Thule Society member, renowned for his swordsmanship and using signature swords of his design. Guillermo Del Toro provided an expanded biography, which appeared in a series of comic panels in the book "Hellboy: The Art of the Movie," as well as in the special features of the film's DVD."

lemme just say, as a czech person, it delights me to no end that a small fraction of people who’ve headcanoned him as such. like russian is the most popular, but the idea of viktor joining our long tradition of scrungly inventors and intellectuals with strange fates is just beautiful

People talking about nepotism babies from the field of theatre/movie actors but I wanna talk about the ultimate Czech acting dynasty because this thing sure is batshit
Tumblr media
Starting with Hynek Mušek who is the first known person in this family, a theatre actor and later principal of a travelling theatre back in the Austrian Empire, there isn't much about him except that his father was a master locksmith and his brother was Antonín Mušek, also a theatre actor who worked alongside Josef Kajetán Tyl, possibly the most significant person in the history of Czech theatre and the person who wrote the lyrics for what would later become the Czech national anthem.
His daughter would marry Ondřej Červíček who has been in theatre since he was just five years old, in a play also co-organized by Tyl.
The two following generations from all branches were all involved in travelling theatre, either with Tyl's or with Antonín Mušek's company, making their mark on the Czech National Revival.
Shortly after the fall of Austria-Hungary and birth of Czechoslovakia, Červíček's granddaughter would marry Rudolf Hrušínský, today called Rudolf Hrušínský the Eldest, who started being involved in theatre at 16 years old. Born with the name Rudolf Böhm, he had always wanted to begin using an artist pseudonym. The reason he stuck with Hrušínský was because at one point he was caught stealing pears (pear - hruška in Czech) and people never let him live it down.
They had a son, also named Rudolf Hrušínský, who was born literally behind the stage just after a play ended. The family then settled down and the son went to study at a lyceum, where he was expelled because of his frequent absence due to skipping school to continue playing in theatre. In 1960 he got a spot in the National Theatre in Prague. After 1989 he became involved in politics, however he wanted to avoid active politics and only wanted a "backseat", but he got so many votes he became an MP.
He had two sons, the eldest also named Rudolf Hrušínský, who would actually study art and theatre at a conservatory and then university and would become one of the most well-known movie and theatre actors of all time, for example starring in the main role in The Cremator by director Juraj Herz.
And he also had a son named Rudolf Hrušínský, who also became an actor known for his role in the musical Discopříběh. For a time he moved to Spain where he owned a bar for a brief time, but returned to Czech republic in the early 2000s and continued to play in smaller film projects, preferring relative anonymity.
The other branch of the family had Jiří Kostka, who would play in Jára Cimrman Lying Down Sleeping and Slunce, seno, jahody. He had a son Petr Kostka, a prominent figure in theatre, Zora Kostková, also a theatre actress, and his granddaughter Tereza Kostková is a well-known actress and tv moderator.
