Lester would immediately put his game face on. Couple people with a broken down car? That's easy pickings for Lester, over the decades doing what he did became normalcy. But we've all seen the movie and this man is a sucker for someone pretty, and Cylas would be right up his alley. Like all of his attention would be on her and he would not be able to stand her friends. He would definitely offer Cylas a ride into Ambrose just to be with her longer and get a good look at her. On the outside he would be chill about her friends coming too but inside he would be so disappointed it wasn't just the two of them.

after hearing about the incessant frog-torture Cylas offers cat pictures (including one of her big ass Maine Coon mix Tiny lying on her legs/chest)

Percy scrolls through emails late at night on her phone and gets a *ping*

"At this late at night?"

She opens it and her heart melts. "Heard about Bo getting tortured by frogs, have these" - Cylas.

There were tons of cat pictures in the folder including one of a beautiful main coon. She gently tapped Bo on the shoulder to show him and the snuggled closer together to look at cats.

Cylas just messaging Darrell at fuck-all o'clock really emotional and like apologising that they "can't love him right" and if he still likes them

Darrell straight up calls Cylas and gently asks what's wrong, his voice cracking with concern. He'll let them pour their heart out, get all their frustrations out, tell him all that they were carrying over the phone.

He'd make the journey from Devil's Prick and stay with them. Cook their favorite comfort food and sit up in bed with the cats.

"You can love me anyway you can," he'll tell them, "and I'll love you back tenfold." He'll kiss her forehead, the tip of their nose, and finally their lips, and hold them close until sleep overtook.

another concept because they just keep popping up:

alt timeline - Cylas somehow finds out that there are people wanting to turn Darrell in to the police, current idea is that it's some random citizen and the son of someone who's been killed, and they've been asking around town about Father Darrell, though mostly outsiders or newer members of the church

Cylas' answers are obviously vague and kinda nothing, one dialogue snippet she might overhear is

son: well she was useless. this is a huge waste of time, we probably have enough evidence anyway

so she ends up killing them (non bloody), then runs to the church all panicking and crying and just apologising over and over until Darrell brings her somewhere more private and manages to calm her down

and she's like "I'm sorry I'm so sorry I know I shouldn't have done it but they were gonna turn you in they were gonna ruin you and the church and destroy everything"

then explain properly once he asks questions but she's actually distraught both by the thought of losing this community and him, but also by the thought that she might have disappointed or upset or angered him

I imagine he'd say, barely in a whisper, "Now, darlin' show me where they are."

Imagine if one of the two she attacked were still alive (but let's assume they're too wounded to get up), and Darrell finishes the job to ease Cylas' guilt. So technically, they share responsibility in that execution. He assures her ever after that she did nothing wrong <3

I believe I actually saw you in the beauty/self care etc aisle looking at hair dye - if that was not you, just ignore this message. if it was you, however, I just wanna point out that I'm not some crazy stalker or anything, I just walk past the gas station you... work at (?) on my way home, and I think I've bought a snack or something before, I'm usually around very early or very late though. anyway, I did drop by this evening but you weren't there, colleague said you were already done for the day and apparently have some days off so he gave me your insta? really just here to reunite you with your stuff though, I'll delete the chat etc as soon as you say the word, don't wanna make you uncomfortable. Darrell squinted at his screen, reading the words over and over again. A sharp, clenching in his stomach made his hair stand on end. Nausea hit him like a ton of bricks.

"HO MY GAWD!" he screamed.

Outside, some poor skulking creature got the fright of its life. There was a dull rattling, then a crash, and then skittering claws.

"CHRIST!"

It didn't upset him that he had lost his license. He could always get another one. No, it was the fact that this kind person had found it and seen his picture.

Damn those goonies at the DMV.

Damn them all.

Shaking, he began to type:

Hi Cylas! I am so so so sorry about the trouble I've caused ya. Thank you! Thank you for picking it up and reaching out. Lord, I don't even know how fucked I'd be if I went on the interstate tomorrow without it! You caught me right before I went on vacation!

He did some quick thinking.

If you don't mind, ma'am, maybe we can meet up in the morning so I can take it off your hands? I'd be happy to buy you breakfast. Least I can do for the trouble.

He remembered her now.

Bright blue hair, tied in a braid. Couldn't miss it. They had exchanged a nod of acknowledgment once. In a way that meant "Heh, blue."

Last he saw her, she was dressed in a faded flannel shirt and jeans. Under the flannel she was [gulp] wearing one of those black lacy bralettes. He'd turned red and had pulled the hood of his jacket down.

Ping!

"Sure thing!" Cylas replied, "What time and where?"
