You sat beside Franky, eyebrow twitching and bottom lip tucked between your teeth. Franky knew about your feelings.

Ever since you had joined the crew, you couldn't help but adore everything about the blonde cook. 

He was cute, he was sweet and he went above and beyond to protect the crew. 

Especially Nami and Robin. He’d of course protect you too but he’d never go to the same lengths.

You hated it so much. 

You hated how much you wanted him, and how much he meant to you. But you were certain the feeling wasn’t mutual. 

Sighing, you got up and left your room, trudging towards the kitchen in your oversized off-the-shoulder t-shirt and no bottom. You were too frustrated and annoyed to even care about anyone seeing you in your panties. Hell, Franky walked around in his constantly.

"Because you don't drink. Somethings wrong with you. What's up?" He pressed on, determined to get to the bottom of your odd behaviour.

The way he looked down at you made you feel cared for. It put you in a trance, a spell that you felt would never wash away.

"I don't have to tell you anything, eyebrows." You replied, turning your head away from him. You wanted to get back to your room as fast as possible and bury yourself away from everything.

"Wha- eyebrows?!" He yelled, taking a step back from you to pout. 

You, in turn, stuck your tongue out at him, quickly snatching the bottle away from his disappointed grasp. 

You seemed like you were joking, and maybe it was the alcohol that had heightened your emotions, but you couldn't shake the ache in your heart. You felt like, with a single word from him, you'd crash and bawl your eyes out. 

It seemed silly, and maybe a little childish, but seeing the man you wanted, so much, flirt and dote over the girls you already thought were prettier than you, hurt. 

It hurt more than words could explain. 

Sanji took you by the hand, leading you to sit down at the dining table, sitting next to you with concern. You hadn't realise it yet, but he was wiping the tears you didn't even know were spilling. 

"C'mon, what's wrong?" He asked again, his voice soft and gentle as he took a seat next to you. 

You bit your tongue, maybe right now would be the best time to give him the cold shoulder, show him you were upset with him. 

Smacking his hand away, you took in a deep breathe

"I don't need to explain anything to you."

There was a moment of silence, and for a split second, you swore you saw a flicker of anger within those blue eyes of his. Your repeated words seemed to strike annoyance within him.

You refused to look at him. You didn't want to. Acting like you were mad at him made you feel bad beyond explanation. Especially when he stared at you with such a disappointed look.

"I just want to help you, (Y/n)." He finally broke the silence, returning the warmth of his hand back up to your cheek that you so harshly slapped away. 

Making eye contact, you leaned into his touch, placing your hand over his and closing your eyes before finally getting out the words you've always wanted to ask him,

"Do you... find me attractive..?" 

You could feel him tense up. A bad sign. 

Oh god. Did he really think you were that ugly..? 

Trying your hardest not to jump to conclusions, you waited for him to speak. Waited for him to clear your worries. 

But he never did. 

You fidgeted with the end of your shirt, feeling so embarrassed and slightly annoyed. 

"Attractive? Do I find you attractive?" He repeated your question in a hushed tone that made it seem like it was the most ridiculous question in the world.

There are two directions this can go.

Disclaimer: There are many myths and legends about Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman, but the one here is my reimagined version, borrowing elements from One Piece’s Flying Dutchman lore (Fishman Island Arc, ch. 606) and some from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. 

It was a festive night onboard the Thousand Sunny. 

Earlier, the Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates had begged the cook to prepare a feast tonight, without any reasons whatsoever. The cook was hesitant at first, as he was not one to use excessive ingredients when unnecessary, but with the last of the fresh supplies they got at Water 7 on the brink of losing their quality, Sanji had relented and cooked up an extravagant banquet for the crew. 

Not wanting to waste a beautiful moonlit night, the Straw Hats set up picnic blankets on the Sunny’s lawn deck to enjoy their dinner. Franky had busted out his ukulele, playing a cheery tune that transformed the quiet night into a lively one. A portable metal fire pit sat in the center of the lawn, the flames providing light and warmth as the crew partied the night away. 

It was not uncommon for this particular crew that a night of drinking would evolve into a night of daring each other to do stupid things. Luffy’s face was currently caked with Nami’s makeup, Zoro and Sanji were reluctantly interlocking hands as per Robin’s dare, and Chopper had one of Franky’s (clean) underwear strung between his antlers. The dares were getting more and more ridiculous as the game went on, to the point where Usopp had just challenged you to skinny-dip off the side of the ship. One glance over the railing at the dark, cold, and uninviting waters had you sitting back down on the deck. 

“Yeah, right,” You scoffed and downed a shot in lieu of doing the dare, “That’d get me sent straight to Davy Jones’ locker!”

“Whose what now?” Usopp asked with his head tilted in confusion, the phrase unfamiliar to his ears.

It was such a common saying in the South Blue, where you were from, that you just blurted it out unthinkingly. There were no Southern seafarers who didn’t know about the mythical pirate Davy Jones and his ship full of ghosts. 

“The Davy Jones’ locker.” You repeated matter-of-factly. Surprisingly, none of your crewmates seemed to show even a hint of recognition. You eyed them one by one, but all of them sported similar blank looks, “Oh c’mon, Davy Jones? The Flying Dutchman? Ring a bell?”

“Robin, you must know it.” You turned to the archaeologist, certain that she must have read about the legend before in one of her books, but she merely shook her head.

“No way,” you looked at your crew in disbelief, “And you call yourselves pirates?”

“Hey!” Luffy protested indignantly, “What’s a flying locker got to do with being a pirate?” 

“Huh,” you shrugged, “Guess the story’s only popular in South Blue then.”

“Ooh, a story?” Chopper leaned forward toward you in anticipation, “I wanna hear it!”

“Alright then, listen up.” You looked at your friends with a sly smile, “But beware, this tale is not for the fainthearted.”

You started the story, lowering your voice in a mediocre attempt to sound spooky, “Hundreds and hundreds of years ago, a pirate crew was sailing on troubled waters when its captain – by the name of Davy Jones – suddenly fell ill and lost his mind. He killed his whole crew, chucking them off the ship one by one into the angry sea.”

Robin’s eyes sparkled with intrigue, while Zoro looked unbothered, but was listening intently nonetheless. Luffy was munching on some meat, only half paying attention. Franky had put down his ukulele, and Sanji took a long drag of his cigarette, eyes never straying away from you. Usopp, Nami, and Chopper had started to huddle together, never ones to enjoy scary stories. 

“When he came to, Davy Jones realized what terrible deed he had done and blamed the gods for his madness, throwing curses at the rulers of the seas and the skies.”

The silence that now shrouded the chilly night only added to the tense atmosphere, broken just by the low whistle of the winds against the sails and the faint crash of the waves against the hull. No one dared breathe a word to interrupt as you continued your tale. 

“The gods were furious and punished Davy Jones to roam the seas for eternity aboard his ship, the Flying Dutchman, doomed to ferry the souls of those lost to the sea to the world beyond, far deep through the oceanic abyss, which sailors came to know as the Davy Jones’ locker.”

Unbeknownst to the crew, a shroud of unnatural mist has started to surround the ship. Its tendrils snaked through the gaps and crevices, slowly infiltrating the deck.

“They say the Flying Dutchman still roams the seas to this day, never able to make port.” You paused for dramatic effect, “People say, that if you’re unlucky enough to encounter it, you could hear the lost souls onboard the ghost ship sing; Dead men tell no tales, dead men have no desires. Dead men don’t need jewels on their–”

“ENOUGH!!” Usopp yelled, covering his ears, “That’s enough, I don’t want to hear it anymore!”

By this point, the fog had gotten so thick that it was impossible not to notice. The crew was suddenly overcome with a sense of dread, goosebumps creeping on their skin.

“Wh-what is this mist?!” Nami shrieked, “What’s happening?! I don’t like this!”

Zoro and Sanji stood up, whipping their heads around in search of enemies or threats, but nothing emerged from within the murk. Nami and Usopp were now clinging to each other, screaming their heads off when suddenly, Chopper pointed at something in the distance and squealed, “Wh-wh-what’s that?!”

A silhouette of an old, rickety vessel materialized from beyond the mist, sailing head-on toward the Thousand Sunny. Its tattered sails swayed in the winds, a faded glow cloaking its body. 

Screams of panic filled the air as Usopp, Nami, and Chopper ran around in terror.

“That’s it, I’m going inside! You guys deal with that!” Nami exclaimed, rushing towards the safety of the sleeping quarters.

“Oi, Nami, wait for me!” Usopp ran after her, Chopper closely following behind, “Can I sleep in the girls’ room tonight?!”

“Nah, man.” Zoro shook his head, “Give me monsters or devils, and I’ll fight them. But, I don’t fuck with things I can’t cut with my swords.” He said before hightailing it to the boys’ quarters.

Sanji stammered that he was “definitely not scared of ghosts, unlike the cowardly mosshead” but claimed that he wanted to make some midnight snacks and speed-walked to the kitchen. The mere mention of a midnight snack had Luffy following Sanji like a puppy, all thoughts of ghosts or whatever vanishing from his mind, and so he too, was gone. 

With most of the Straw Hats cowering inside, the deck was once again plunged into a thick silence as the mysterious ship crept closer and closer.

A sudden slow clap permeated the stillness.

You looked behind you to see Robin smiling knowingly, “Incredible.” She chuckled, addressing you and the only other remaining Straw Hat on deck, “How did you two do it?” 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Robin.” You deflected unconvincingly, trying to hold back a smile.

“Yeah, Robin, what do you mean?” Franky added with a cheeky grin, “That’s totally a real ghost ship comin’ right at us.” 

“Alright, keep your secrets.” Robin said with a laugh, “I’m going to bed. Make sure you clean up nicely, hm?”

Once Robin was out of sight, Franky offered his big metal hand to you, and you slapped it in an enthusiastic high-five. The two of you broke out in laughter, ecstatic at the success – for the most part – of your harmless but elaborate prank. 

“Ah, that was a good one.” He sighed, wiping a stray tear from his eye, “Did you see their faces?” 

You grinned at him, “I thought we fooled everyone, but Robin’s a tough one, isn’t she?”

“She’s super smart,” Franky laughed, “I knew from the beginning that she wouldn’t buy it.”

He took out a remote from his shirt pocket and pushed the big red button on it. Instantly, the mirage of the ghost ship disappeared as the light projector hidden inside the lion figurehead’s mouth was deactivated. The smoke machines mounted through the side portholes also died down, and the thick fog surrounding the ship gradually dissipated. 

Since no one was around anymore, you and Franky took up the job of cleaning up the lawn, considering it as a way to make up for the fright you gave the rest of the crew. You stacked the dirty plates, gathered all the empty booze bottles, and folded up the blankets. The big, yellow moon provided ample brightness even as Franky killed the fire. 

“Franky,” You called out as you noticed something in the horizon, “I thought you shut off the machine.”

“Yeah, I did.” The cyborg replied without even looking at you, still focused on cleaning the fire pit. 

A chill of uneasiness ran through you at his answer, “Then… what’s that?”

Franky looked up at your shaky voice and turned to the front of the ship, eyes bulging in shock at what met his sight. 

A curtain of thick, black fog coated the ocean and sky ahead, swallowing the stars from the sky and plunging the waters into total darkness, where no moonlight reached it.

And the Sunny was sailing right at it. 

You and Franky could only stare at the unfathomable phenomenon as you stood frozen side-by-side.

“Oh, we are super fucked, aren’t we?”

all the professors love him and its defintely the only reason he's passing his classes

he has not one clue what going on (most of the time), head empty

he's really likeable, everyone and they momma wants to hang out with him

usally hanging out with sanji (bc he cooks) or zoro (caus he thinks he's cool)

he tutors with nami and robin sometimes (they're the only ones that can deal with him on the regular)

he loves trying out new recipes and helping in the kitchen

sometimes when money gets low, he'll have a bake sale and they always do really fucking well

sometimes he'll take apprentenships for "fun" and so he's just racked up expirence in working in different places

his dream job is to have his own resturant where he can create his own dishes and not take any shit from anyone

also (because my sanji is a weed smoker not a cig user) will sometimes make weed pastries and they do so well when he sells them

would be outside on a smoke break but somehow never smells like weed its so crazy

would be the type of student to grumble and complain about homework but still do it anyway (he's just like me fr)

ussop

went to a shopworking trade school (his momma didn't want him to learn nothing after high school so she made him)

he found out later that he like working on different things and keeping himself busy

he also like gardening in his spare time

he's like really good at it and sometimes when his garden is too much for his family, he'll either give it to his neighbors or sell it in the farmer's market

earth sceiene major with minor in accounting

she is the the most ruthless student you'll ever meet

she don't take any shit from no one regardless of who you are, which is why she makes such a good tutor

she makes sure all her students get a good grade and because she tutors both zoro and luffy, she makes BANK

she also is the pretty girl on campus and all her friends pretty too !

the gang goes to Jinbe's resturant every week after all they're classes. Luffy had stumbled upon it one day and he just slowly started to get his friends to go their and that's just become their hangout spot since then. Jinbe pretends to hate when they come over but in all actuality, he loves talking to them and getting to know them as a group and as individuals. he loves their energy and will make sure they eat well and they're getting good grades.

(Don’t) Face Your Fears: Part 2

Yandere Merfolk Straw Hats x GN!Reader

Part 1

This is the second part to that merfolk story I wrote before that I retroactively added a name to once I realized it wasn’t just going to be a one off.

Despite several members of his crew wanting to come with him, the river cutting through your island consisting of freshwater meant that only Luffy could go. Sure, Franky did build what was essentially a mobile saltwater pool that Luffy could use to bring some of them along, but he didn’t have it nearby and Luffy wasn’t willing to wait.

He wanted to see you again, and he wanted to do so now.

Being a bull shark had many perks, and he was currently using two of them. One being the coveted ability to swim in both fresh and saltwater, and the other being an impeccable sense of smell. It was best in water, but this island was so small that he could easily follow your trail. An awfully long trail, he noted. You are quite the runner! Usopp would have some stiff competition if you were merfolk, too.

Your unique scent came to a head, bringing Luffy to a halt. Pulling himself up onto the river bank, he sniffed the air to confirm that you were nearby. Somewhere in the house not far from where he is to be exact. A sharp grin spread across his face. He was right! You do live near the river! This will make getting ahold of you much easier.

Before he could pull himself fully out of the river, someone exited the house. Not just any person, but you. Luffy quietly slipped his upper body back into the river, leaving only his head poking out of the water.

Your footsteps drew closer, stopping slightly upstream from where he was. Once there, you dropped onto the ground and buried your face in your hands. Luffy watched curiously as you groaned loudly and scowled at the river when you pulled your hands away from your face. Is this a human thing? He’s intrigued and inches closer. Humans have awful night vision, he isn’t concerned about being noticed before he wants to be.

“I can’t believe this. Months of work wasted because I just had to run into merfolk during my first trip into the ocean,” you muttered under your breath. “What kind of stupid bad luck is that?”

Bad luck? You meeting and coming to their rescue was good luck! Great luck even! Luffy frowned at what you said. He knows he startled you earlier, but he thought it was just because you were surprised to see a merman up close.

Did you just… not like merfolk?

Why not? He can guess that he was the first merman to ever be so close to you. How could you come to dislike people you’ve never really gotten to know? That doesn’t make any sense. If you were willing to help people despite your obvious discomfort, then surely you couldn’t be a hateful person.

An idea suddenly clicks in his head. Other humans must be telling you awful things about them!

Nodding with resolve, Luffy swam even closer. When he was right in front of you, he launched himself out of the water and wrapped his arms around you. You immediately tried to scream, but he was prepared for you to do that after your last interaction and slapped a hand over your mouth.

You kicked and thrashed in his arms, and it only increased as he began pulling you into the water with him. You’re definitely not weak, he’ll give you that, but you aren’t stronger than him either. 

By the time he settles back into the water, you’re hysteric. You’re still trying to scream for help even with his hand in the way, and he can feel hot tears streaming down onto him. That makes him feel a little bad about what he’s doing. He doesn’t want to upset you, he just wants to show you that merfolk aren’t anything to be scared of.

“Calm down, I’m not going to hurt you!” If you heard him, you made no indication that you did. You were still fighting him hard and digging your puny human claws into his arm. What were these people telling you that had you acting this terrified?! 

Luffy became distracted as he picked up on more scents and heard doors being opened. It would seem that his hand wasn’t keeping you as quiet as he’d hoped, especially not with how much you were splashing in the water. Looks like you two are going to have to leave.

Pushing off, he hastily makes his way down the river and towards the ocean. You probably wouldn’t listen if he told you to hold your breath, so he settled for swimming with you balanced on top of his chest. This was easier said than done. Between swimming upside down and your squirming, he wound up dropping you into the water.

Bizarrely, you went from doing everything to get away from him to desperately reaching your arms out to his figure and holding on for dear life. Luffy pulled you back up onto him, patting your back as you hacked up the water you’d inhaled. Much to his relief, this experience seemed to have settled you down somewhat.

You didn’t look happy by any means, but you weren’t fighting against him anymore, so he considered this a victory. Seeing that there wasn’t anyone around, Luffy decided to try talking to you again, “Hi! I’m Luffy!”

“Please don’t drown me!” You sobbed, “I’m sorry for whatever I did to make you mad, please don’t kill me!”

Drown you? Kill you??? Luffy is completely bewildered by your pleas. Sure, he did drop you just now, but that was an accident! “Whoa there, no one is going to kill you! I’m sorry I dropped you, I didn’t mean to.”

“Then what do you want from me? Please just let me go, I promise I won’t tell anyone about this!” 

What’s got you so damn freaked out? He doesn’t get it. How dangerous are the people around here that you’re so horrified by him? Does every new person you come across try to harm you? That must be the case. 

“I wanted to see you again! Also, I want you to join my crew! You seem really nice, so I think you’ll fit in great,” Luffy beamed at you, not paying attention to how you recoiled from his teeth.

“Join your crew?! Are you insane?! I’m not one of you!” You spat out incredulously.

“What’s that got to do with anything? We don’t mind tugging you around in a boat,” Luffy didn’t really get why you were being so argumentative about this. He already told you that he’s not going to hurt you, what’s the hold up? These other humans must really have you brainwashed. Good thing he’s here to save you from them!

“I don’t want to be pulled around on a boat in the middle of the ocean, I want to go home!” You shrieked while frantically peering around to check your surroundings.

Much to Luffy’s relief, he’d finally made it out of the river and into the ocean. Once he’s gotten you away from this awful island, he’s sure you’ll calm down and be more willing to listen. You’ll love all the other crew members after you get to know them, he just knows it! You won’t even want to go back to this pathetic island after they’ve made friends with you.

“You’re back already? Could you not- You’ve got to be kidding!” Sanji surfaced and swam straight at you two. “You really thought it was a good idea to drag them out here just like that?”

You cringed away from the new shark and looked like you were about to faint. Luffy couldn’t help but puff out his chest in pride as you clung onto him, obviously a part of you recognized that he could protect you. 

“I had to! Other humans showed up, and I couldn’t just leave them all alone there!” Luffy nuzzled his face into your hair, choosing to ignore the way you shuddered from the contact. You’re probably just a little cold.

“That’s bullshit! No one came out until after you dragged me in!”

Sanji’s eyes narrowed at Luffy, “This is why we didn’t want you to go alone, you have no tact!”

“Like you would have done any better! You would’ve just creeped them out if you’d gone,” Nami jabbed. Sanji sulked away, not even attempting to plead his case. Nami, on the other hand, swam closer to you, eyeing you up curiously. She reached out to experimentally tug on your wet clothing, not paying any mind to how uncomfortable you looked.

Chopper was the next to appear. You were definitely surprised by his appearance, but seemed more confused than scared by him. The doctor went right up to you, visibly concerned, “Luffy! You can’t just drag a human into the water like this! It’s cold enough that they could get hypothermia if we don’t get them someplace dry soon!”

You latched onto this immediately, “Y-Yeah, you should take me back to shore before I get sick!”

“Don’t worry, I got this covered!” Franky pulled a self made boat over, “It’s not much yet, but I’ve got biiiig plans for this thing.” The boat in question looked like a small house boat. There weren’t any doors on it, just an open three walled structure for shelter. 

“Oooh, good thinking, Franky!” Luffy happily approached the boat and heaved you onto it. The second you were out of his arms, you scrambled into the walled off part of it. You stared at them with wide eyes with your back pressed up against one of the walls.

More of his crew appeared, wanting to get a good look at you now that you weren’t actively running away from them. With each head that popped out of the water, you curled in on yourself more and more.

“Are you sure this is a good idea? What if other humans come after us to get them back? Don’t we have enough enemies already?” Usopp was hanging back, still skittish about this whole idea.

“Of course it is! They’re our friend now, so we’ll protect them!” Luffy pulled himself up onto the boat while you shrank back even farther. He turns to face you, grinning even wider than he already was, “Don’t worry about all those awful humans on that island, we won’t let them hurt you!”

“What are you talking about? Everyone there is-”

“Very dangerous and spreading lies about what merfolk are like! You don’t need to say anything, I already figured it out,” Luffy nodded proudly.

“You didn’t figure shit out, you maniac!” 

No one listened to you, and there was a chorus of groans from the merfolk. This was hardly anything new to them, humans always assumed the worst of them. 

Admittedly, Luffy didn’t have a long term plan for what to do with you yet, but he’s already made it this far without ever making any plans. Everything will fall into place soon enough, and you’ll learn to be grateful for his extremely considerate rescue.

There was a lot of excitement and good tidings spilled during the three hours long celebration, ranging from Luffy eating like an elephant to Usopp telling the crew about his adventures of fighting the Kraken with his own hands.

There was not a single moment when you weren't enjoying yourself.

There was nothing that could stop you from smiling until your face started to hurt, but you didn't seem to be bothered by it.

You were happy.

"Okay, it's time to go to sleep!" Nami slurred, clinging onto Robin as if her legs weren't cooperating.

Robin didn't look bothered, using her devil fruit powers to keep her balanced.

She then looked at me and smiled, saying gently. "Are you coming?"

"In a minute," you answered, trying to finish your third servings.

Robin nodded, dragging away the hyper navigator with ease to their shared bedroom after she said good night to everyone.

Which leaves the rest of the boys and you in the living room.

"Wow Y/N! I've never seen anyone compete with Luffy's appetite before," Franky said teasingly, drinking his sixth bottle of coke.

You immediately stopped eating, hesitantly placing the fork back on the plate.

Were you eating so much? Were they mad? Was Sanji tired of cooking for you?

"Franky! Y/N can eat as much as she wants because she deserves it with all she's being through. Now stop judging and go fix the ship," Sanji yelled, holding up a frying pan as a warning.

"Okay okay," Franky said, not wanting to lose any parts of his body. "Sorry Y/N, I didn't mean to judge,"

"It's okay," you replied shyly, picking up the spoon again.

You quickly glanced up to see Sanji smiling brightly at you.

You were flustered and looked back down at your plate, trying to hide your blushing cheeks. The attention from Sanji was unexpected, but it made you feel both embarrassed and strangely happy at the same time.

You started eating again, savoring each bite while stealing occasional glances at Sanji.

The combination of his smile and the delicious food made you forget about your worries for a moment, and you couldn't help but feel a warm sense of comfort in his presence.

It was a mix of emotions, but deep down, you couldn't help but feel a little giddy.

Soon Franky left, followed by Zoro, Usopp, and Luffy. Chopper was the last to finish his meal and leave the room, leaving you alone with Sanji. The atmosphere changed, and you could feel a subtle tension between the two of you.

"Y/N, would you like some dessert?" Sanji asked from the kitchen, his voice filled with warmth and anticipation.

You looked up at him, and a shy smile tugged at the corners of your lips. "Yes, please," you replied, feeling the tension dissipate as you both focused on the sweet treat that awaited.

As Sanji walked over to you, he placed a beautifully crafted dessert in front of you. The sight of it made your mouth water, and you couldn't help but appreciate the effort he put into making it.

The sweet aroma filled the air, adding to the anticipation of tasting the delicious treat.

but this time Sanji didn't move to the kitchen and stood in front of you, leaning against the table

You could sense a different energy in the room as Sanji stood in front of you, his gaze fixed on your face. The anticipation of the dessert was overshadowed by the growing tension between you, and you found yourself wondering if this moment would lead to something more than just a sweet treat.

He looked at you intently, his eyes filled with a mix of admiration and something more.

You picked up the spoon and hesitantly scooped a piece of the dessert, feeling a rush of nerves and excitement as Sanji's gaze remained fixed on you.

You put the spoonful of dessert in your mouth, savoring the delectable flavors that exploded on your taste buds.

As you closed your eyes to fully relish the moment, you could sense Sanji's anticipation growing, his gaze intensifying, as if waiting for your reaction to the sweet treat he had prepared with such care.

"How is it?" he asked, his voice filled with anticipation and a hint of vulnerability, as if his own self-worth was riding on your response to the dessert he had poured his heart into.

You opened your eyes and looked at him, the sweetness of the dessert still lingering on your tongue. His expression was a mix of nervousness and hope, and you couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for him.

"It's absolutely amazing," you said, your voice filled with genuine admiration.

Sanji's face lit up with a mix of relief and joy as he heard your words. The tension in the room melted away, replaced by a sense of contentment and shared happiness.

You could see the pride in his eyes, knowing that his efforts had paid off and that he had brought you joy with his culinary creation.

"Really?"

"Yep! This is the best food I've ever tasted," you said, a smile spreading across your face as you took another bite. "Well, it's the only food I've eaten this month," you added with a chuckle, thoroughly enjoying the dessert Sanji had prepared.

As you continued to savor the dessert, you noticed that Sanji remained silent, his gaze fixed on you. His expression spoke volumes, and you could sense that he was eagerly waiting for your reaction.

With each bite, you could feel his anticipation growing, as if the fate of his self-esteem rested on your enjoyment of the treat.

As you reached the last spoonful, you couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness that the experience was coming to an end.

A finger then went over to you and wiped a stray dollop of cream off your lips, causing a warm blush to rise to your cheeks.

"You don't have to rush it, I can always make more for you," Sanji said, his voice filled with sincerity and a touch of playfulness.

You shyly looked down at your empty plate, feeling a mix of gratitude and bashfulness. "Thank you, Sanji," you murmured softly, your cheeks still flushed. "That was an incredible dessert. I'm really lucky to have you."

Sanji leaned in closer, a mischievous glint in his eyes, and replied, "Well, lucky for you, I'm just getting started with impressing you. There's a whole menu of culinary delights waiting for you, my dear."

You giggled shyly and looked up at Sanji, your cheeks still tinged with a blush. "I can't wait to taste all the other amazing dishes you have in store for me," you said softly, feeling a flutter of excitement in your heart.

"Coming right up," Sanji said, taking your empty plate and heading for the kitchen.

As you followed Sanji to the kitchen, you couldn't help but be fascinated by his culinary skills. The way he effortlessly maneuvered around the stove and handled the ingredients with precision and grace was mesmerizing.

You stood close by, eagerly anticipating the next culinary masterpiece that he would create.

When he finished preparing the dish, he turned around to show you with a smile, presenting a beautifully plated creation that looked almost too good to eat.

The colors, textures, and aromas all combined to create a feast for the senses, and you couldn't help but be in awe of Sanji's talent and dedication to his craft.

"Y/N, here is your dessert," Sanji said happily, holding a decadent chocolate soufflé in front of you.

Unable to resist the temptation as if you were possessed, you reached out and gently tugged on Sanji's tie, pulling him closer to you.

The anticipation and desire in the air were palpable as your lips met, igniting a passionate connection that surpassed even the decadence of the chocolate soufflé before you.

It was a quick, impulsive kiss that took both of you by surprise. As you backed away, your eyes widened in shock at your own daring actions, unsure of how Sanji would react.

With his face flushed and his eyes unfocused, Sanji handed you the dessert with his hand shaking slightly and then stumbled backward, his legs giving way beneath him.

He fell to the ground, seemingly overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment, leaving you standing there, both shocked and intrigued by what had just transpired.

"Sanji! Are you okay?" you asked worriedly, bending down to get to his level. His eyes fluttered open, and a dazed smile spread across his face.

"I've never been better," he replied, his voice filled with a mix of surprise and delight. . . .

"Another day, another spell! Or maybe not, because today is my break!" she thought excitedly as she walked around the dock. It seemed Law hadn't woken up yet, but neither had the crew! Except for Sanji and Brook, who always woke up at that time.

Sanji was cooking breakfast skillfully while Brook enjoyed a good cup of coffee. "MORNING!" Y/N greeted, stepping in to join them.

"Y/N-chwaaannn~ How grateful I am that you blessed me today!" swooned Sanji, while Brook returned the salute casually.

"Need help?" she asked Sanji, coming closer to the cutting board.

"No need! You must be tired from night guard duty," he replied, declining the offer but returning to his cooking as he casually asked about last night.

"Nah! I don't feel tired at all!" she answered cheerfully, sitting close to Brook.

"Yohohoho~ You never seem to be sleepy!" chimed Brook.

"And you'll never catch me slipping!" she said with a small, shared laugh, and the atmosphere returned to its usual comfort. Sanji continued to cook, Brook drank his coffee while thinking of his next tune, and Y/N read a book without a title.

It was peaceful, and soon, everyone started coming in, waking up from their slumber.

"Hey! Where’s Tragu?" asked Luffy, after munching on some breakfast. Nami and Robin turned to Y/N, prompting everyone to do the same.

"He's probably still asleep," she stated calmly.

Zoro looked at her from the side before going back to his food.

"That's not fair! Why does he get to sleep?" protested Luffy.

"That's true! He needs to at least wake up on time!" added Usopp

"What's with the commotion so early in the morning?" Law said as he entered, and all eyes turned to him. Some smiled, while others quickly returned to what they were doing. Luffy and Usopp, however, decided to tell him what the commotion was about.

"How dare you not wake up on time!" "Yeah! How dare you!"

The man in question didn't change his expression as he sat down for a cup of black coffee, ignoring the two idiots.

With an angry look, Usopp demanded one more answer, "And where were you yesterday? You didn’t sleep in the men’s quarters nor on the ship's deck!"

Now that caught everyone’s attention. "Where was he?" Everyone focused on Law, waiting for an answer. His response was simple: "Asleep."

Everyone’s faces fell to the floor. Was it the answer they wanted? No. Did it help? Maybe. But thanks to Nami bringing good news to change the subject, the situation was saved.

"We’re getting closer to an island!" she showed her compass, causing Luffy and Usopp to quickly leave Law alone.

As the Thousand Sunny docked, the summer island appeared abandoned, with overgrown trees and missing a port or road. It looked completely deserted. The crew decided to spend the day exploring or swimming.

"Not leaving?" asked the witch.

"Don’t feel like it," Law answered, leaning against the mast with his katana close by, his hat covering his face.

Hearing this, she sighed and rolled her eyes before walking away. "Oh! That should be obvious, but don’t touch anything in my lab."

He ignored her, giving her a side-eye. She jumped off the ship and caught up to Nami and Robin.

"Nami! Robin, wait up!" she shouted, catching up to them. "I believe we haven’t spent much time together lately."

The two women looked at each other and smiled. "Well, I am going to draw the island’s map," said Nami. "And I am accompanying Chopper to find some medical herbs," added Robin.

Nami's option wasn’t as tempting as collecting ingredients with the adorable doctor and the archaeologist, so the decision was clear. "Let's get to collecting! Nami, I'll join you in the afternoon!" Y/N exclaimed excitedly, throwing her fist in the air.

Nami shook her head and waved them off, preparing her tools to draw the map. Chopper got his bag, and Robin chuckled as she walked alongside the two into the heavy forest.

The forest was thick with branches and hanging vines, heavy with humidity, which excited the doctor and the sorcerer for the amount of plants around them—wildflowers, mushrooms, weeds, various berries, and animals.

The two had a blast finding and comparing the uses of certain herbs in their fields.

"This is useful for painkillers!" exclaimed Chopper, showing her a leaf. "It can be used to create ink for scrolls!" she answered. "It was a plant used in human sacrifices," added Robin.

Which understandably creeped Chopper out, but the conversation didn’t end there. "For real? To harvest their souls for dark magic?" "Usually it’s to please a god or bring fortune and get rid of illnesses." "Huh."

"Can we change the subject?" pleaded Chopper, looking at the two women like the subject at hand was a normal thing.

Deciding to continue, the conversation died down as the three continued the herb hunt, until...

The forest grew colder and less crowded with trees. Even the animals became scarce. That’s when they reached an abandoned town. Doors were torn down, windows were broken, and everything reeked of death.

Chopper hid behind Robin while Robin and Y/N got on guard, ready to fight at any moment. "We should head back," said Chopper, but it seemed only Robin heard. "Y/N?" But she didn’t respond, walking to the side of a house and inspecting its wall, which was covered in grayish, wall-climbing plants. Tearing them down revealed... a strange symbol.

"This is bad news," she muttered.

Cawww!

"We have to leave! The crow is warning us!" yelled Chopper, but it was too late. Blackened arrows were shot at them from the sky. Robin grabbed Chopper, shielding him with her body.

"Not a second time," whispered Y/N. "ARIELA!" she shouted as a purple shield engulfed the three of them, protecting them.

"A witch! Our lucky day!" The culprits, a group of people with ragged clothes and bone-like physiques, emerged from their hiding spots. "We can satisfy our goddess!"

"Nerocta evera aarota!" she casted another spell, this time conjuring a strong wind that blew the attackers back. The leader quickly formed a shield of his own, filled with horrified faces. "Shit!"

"Robin, Chopper, RUN!" she shouted, dissolving the shield.

The two nodded, though hesitant, understanding that returning to the others was in their best interest. Chopper shifted into his running form to save time.

"Catch them!" three of the attackers jumped forward at their leader's command, but were stopped by a rock wall slamming into them, taking them out.

"Come on, then," Y/N muttered, her fingers crackling with mana. "Show me what you’ve got."

On the other side, things were more peaceful. Sanji returned with some fruits and vegetables, Zoro had hunted down some animals, and the rest were either resting on the beach or waiting for Franky's infamous 'SUPER BURGER!'

Nothing could disturb their peace—until Robin and Chopper showed up, barely catching their breath. The crew immediately got guarded, and Nami and Luffy rushed toward them.

"What's wrong?" asked Luffy, worried. "Where’s Y/N?" added Nami.

That's when Robin spoke up. "Magicians! A lot of them!"

With this new information, the crew exchanged looks. Zoro, Sanji, Luffy, a reluctant Usopp, and Nami decided to go help their friend. "Where?" Robin pointed in the direction they came from, and before she could give more details, Luffy and Zoro ran straight ahead.

As the commotion rose, the two sides continued their battle—two types of magic: those who used mana and knowledge, and those who relied on others’ souls.

"HAH! You think you can take US down?" the leader mocked, as ghostly hands emerged from the ground beneath him, attacking Y/N. "You’ll make a perfect sacrifice!"

Ignoring him, Y/N jumped high, creating a boulder to stand on. As she looked down at them, the witch felt... anger? Betrayal? Or just pity? She’d never know, because she had to finish this quickly.

"Ignia mi cora jejuteti sma tih berimah min thulg wanar ISMARI NEDAI YASAMA!" she threw her hand up with the palm facing the sky, the other straight by her side, palm facing the ground. "Waayuha ard kudibeamry wahibry tarwidatenla tasmahleaduwy LILHARAB!"

With the two spells cast, the sky filled with dark gray clouds, and the ground glowed with strange letters surrounding the whole village.

"RUN!" one of the dark magicians warned, running toward the edge of the village, but instead bumped into an invisible wall.

"What—THAT BITCH! Kill her!"

With one of them soaring high to stab her, an ice crystal pierced him, slamming him to the ground. And that was when the hell she unleashed began—ice-like spears and fireballs rained down, crushing the ceramic bodies of the dark magic users and burning them to ash.

Y/N descended, the sky clearing as the glowing runes on the ground faded. She bent down to pick up a ceramic shard that hadn't burned. "So, you also lose your humanity by 27, huh?" she chuckled dryly before letting the shard crumble into ash...............

This is an ongoing full cast (platonic) and Sanji (romantic) x Reader fanfic/SMAU for my personal Modern One Piece AU Titled Some Things Never Change!

This story will contain some 18+ themes and language so read and interact at your own risk.

{Synopsis: } Y/n and her three brothers (Ace, Sabo, and Luffy) are finally moving into their own outside of Grand Line University just in time for the spring semester to start. Follow her, her brothers, and her slew of friends as they navigate the ups and downs of college life and all the adventures that come with it!

Bones In The Ocean

One piece x reader one-shot

Warnings: mentions and descriptions of Depression, self harm and suicide and also death. This story is gonna be pretty angsty because I feel sad rn.

The Straw Hats had just made port on a new and unfamiliar Island. It looked completely uninhabited aside from wild animals so they figured it would be a good place to stock up on food and other reserves before continuing on their journey.

"FOOOD!" Luffy screams in excitement jumping off the ship, Ussop and chopper following close behind. The three of them laughing and playing as they run across the beach. The rest of their crew mates watch on in amusement.

Robin and Nami lay out their lawn chairs and umbrella on the beach, hoping to relax a bit before the hard work began. Sanji with hearts in his eyes prances over to them carrying a tray of freshly cut fruit and two smoothies. "For you my lovely ladies." He swoons handing them their drinks and snacks.

"Thank you Sanji." Robin and Nami say at the same time before looking at each other and letting out small giggles at their joint responses. "Hey Ero-cook, mind making us some food and drinks if your serving them?" Zoro calls out as he practices his sword technique. Sanji turns to him with a snarl. "Get it your damn self moss head!" He shouts and it ends up escalating into a screaming match between the two.

"Heh, they can't go two minutes without fighting can they?" Franky asks Brook as he looks over the ship for any damages needing fixed. Doesnt seem so, Yohohoho." Brook say with a laugh as he tunes his violin. Chopper chases after Luffy and Ussop before suddenly stoping, he could hear something. It sounded like, singing.

"Hey guys quite down and listen for a moment I hear something." He calls and everyone stops what they're doing trying to hear what Chopper does.

"As the souls of the dead fill the space of my mind I'll search without sleeping 'til peace I can find I fear not the weather, I fear not the sea I remember the fallen, do they think of me? When their bones in the ocean forever will be

Plot a course to the night to a place I once knew To a place where my hope died along with my crew So I swallow my grief and face life's final test To find promise of peace and the solace of rest."

A sorrowful feminine voice fills the air. It was slow and filled with emotion. They listen intently before it stops once more becoming too quite for them to hear once more. They all look to each other everyone filled with all sorts of emotions. Fear, curiosity, sadness, and worry. "I know this song, its a song sang during most pirate funerals." Brook states looking straight into the tree line.

Everyone else looks out as well, "Luffy, what are you thinking?" Zoro asks the younger man who was staring intently into the jungle. "I think, someone needs our help." He says before walking into the dense jungle. The rest of his crew follow and the further in they walk the louder the voice gets.

"As the songs of the dead fill the space of my ears Their laughter like children, their beckoning cheers My heart longs to join them, sing songs of the sea I remember the fallen, do they think of me? When their bones in the ocean forever will be." The voice continues leading them on till they reach a small clearing.

There in the middle of it sitting in front of a large grave sight sat what looked like a mink. A female mink that greatly resembled the hairless sphinx cat. Dispite the Sphinx having naturally very wrinkly and hair free skin hers had more wrinkles then normal and from the looks of it was covered in Tattoos.

A sad, sorrowful sob then echos through the clearing. Sanji is the first to react, "Madame, are you alright? Do you need any help? He questions, knowing the first one had an obvious answer but he asked it anyway. The woman's body jerked in surprise before her head slowly turns to look at them revealing blue eyes that have sense been dulled by sadness and time.

"People," she lets out a breathless gasp as she quickly turns the rest of her body to look at them giving the crew a good look at her. Her body was indeed covered in tattoos, as shown by the very little clothing that she wore. Even her eyes had tattoos surrounding them. "Who.... who are you all she calls out her voice raspy and quite like she didn't believe what she was seeing.

Sanji stepped closer to her holding out his hand willing for her to take it so that he may help her off the ground. "We, are the Straw Hats, I'm Sanji the ships cook." He introduces himself. The woman stares at him before slowly and hesitantly reaching out a hand to take his. Upon their skin making contact she flinches away, as if surprised that her hand didn't faze through his.

"May I ask for your name my lady?" Sanji asks as he helps her to her feet. "H....Harmony, Spindle D. Harmony." She says as she looks at each and every one of them unsure that she's not hallucinating. "Well Harmony, I'm Luffy the captain if this crew and the future pirate king!" Luffy exclaims before introducing the rest of his crew.

Harmony listens and watches them intently as one by one the crew is introduced to her. Finaly when introductions were over Robin asks the question they'd all been thinking. "Miss Harmony, if you don't mind me asking how did you end up here and for how long," her voice trails off as she looks back over to the giant grave.

Harmony pulls herself away from Sanji before walking back over to it. Placing a hand against the stone. "We shipwrecked twenty years ago," she begins her voice soft. "We had no ways of fixing the ship so we thought we'd stay, and wait for someone to come by hoping for a rescue. We waited for weeks and there was no sign of anyone." She continues on her voice slowly filing with pain.

"Suddenly one by one my crew fell victim to a nasty disease. We had no medicine left to treat it and none of the herbs our doctor found were helping. Then one by one they started dying, my devil fruit prevented me from catching the disease. And so I watched, as each and every one of my friends died before my eyes. And I couldn't save, any of them." She says her eyes once more filling with tears.

"It wasn't a slow death either they suffered.... greatly and I couldn't help them. I failed them as a Captain and more importantly I failed them as a friend." She finishes with a sob her body heaving as the tears fell down her wrinkled cheeks like waterfalls.

"They did not deserve it! They were good people and I let them all die! I dont deserve my title!" She cries, her body collapse to the ground. The crew's reactions ranged from shock to tenderness as they witnessed womens emotional breakdown. Luffy was the first to move, crouching down beside the weeping captain.

He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a warm, comforting embrace."We're here for you, lady!" he declared, his voice steady and soothing. "You didn't let them die! you fought alongside them until the end, That's something to be proud of!"Chopper, ever the empathetic one, joined Luffy, his small form fitting snugly against her side. He gently rubbed her back, offering a silent gesture of comfort."You're not alone anymore, ma'm," Chopper reassured her, his voice soft and calming.

"Robin's eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she watched her comrades provide solace to the grieving captain. She took a step closer, her hand reaching out to lightly stroke at her head. "You have survived so much, Madame. Your strength is remarkable," Robin said, her words carrying a weight of understanding. "Perhaps, with time, you can someday find peace and move forward from your losses. "Franky then spoke up in a serious tone. "I know how it feels to, to lose the ones you love. We all do."

"How? How could I ever be rid the this guilt that plagues me?" She wonders looking up at them. "Well you could start by getting off this Island, and we could help you with that." Nami says placing her hands on the older woman's shoulders. "I dont think I have the strength to leave." Harmony mumbles her voice soft.

"We could lend you that strength. I lost my crew once to. But they helped my find my way out of the shadows and depths of survivors guilt. We could do the same for you." Brook announces holding out his hand.

Harmony stares at him for a moment searching for any sign of deception. Seeing none she takes his hand in hers. "But, im so old now. I don't think I could be of any use to you anymore." She says uncertainty spilling through. Brook let's out a laugh, "Oh I doubt you're older than me my lady, and I'm 88 years old."

Harmony lets out a snort, "I believe I have you beat by seventy years, young man." She states a playfulness she hasn't felt for years surging through her.

"WHAT THAT WOULD MAKE YOU ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-EIGHT YEARS OLD!" Ussop exclaims in shock as he and the others look at her in complete shock.

"Yep and on top of my age, I don't think you want someone who's..... Broken, on your crew. I'd only be a burden." She says that playfulness being drowned out by sorrow ans self hatred. "Broken? I don't see anything wrong with you." Luffy states staring at her in confusion.

Harmony lets out a shakey breath before lifting her arms, there carved into her skin and covered up by tattoos are scars, dozens of scars. Scars big and small cover the entirety of her arms. The crew stares on in shock. "The devil fruit I made extended my life so long im practically immortal. I can take a bullet or blade just like anyone else and bleed, but the fruit heals me before any fatal damage can be done. Its a cruel joke that fate played on my the day I ate that damned fruit." Harmony finishes her eyes closing in pain.

Robin is the first to speak, "to be immortal yet tormented by over a century of regret and guilt. It must be a weight unlike any other." She kneels down in front of the woman placing a hand on her knee. Zoro with a stoic expression carefully asks, "If you're immortal, what drives you? What compels you to keep moving on as the world changes with each passing year?"

Harmony's ears perk up at the question, "now thats the question isn't it? nothing compels me to go on. you want to know how many times I've stuck my own pistol in my mouth and pulled the trigger?" She asks harshly a bitter taste enveloping her tounge with each word.

The sudden, stark confession left the crew momentarily speechless, their faces etched with a mix of shock, horror, and a deep, unsettling sadness. Even Luffy, usually the most energetic and carefree of the group, stood frozen, his bright smile replaced by a look of grim understanding.

Usopp's eyes grew wide, his body quivering slightly as he struggled to process the gravity of Harmony's words. "W-wait… You… You've tried to…?" His voice cracked, the question hanging in the air like a dark cloud threatening to unleash a torrent of despair.

Robin's gaze never wavered from hers, her black eyes absorbing the weight of the confession like a sponge drawing in water. She nodded slowly, a silent acknowledgment of the captain's torment. "It's a cry for help, a desperate attempt to escape the curse of immortality," she whispered, her voice heavy with empathy.

"But you didn't give up," Chopper added softly, his small form seeming even more vulnerable beside the towering figure of the womans. "That means there's still hope, that you can find a reason to keep living." His words were a gentle beacon of light, a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there was always a glimmer of hope to be found.

"Oh you sweet summer child," she states looking at the tiny reindeer. "I gave up years ago, but you know everytime I pulled the trigger I always end up waking up and spitting back out the bullet." my expression is grave, full of self hatred and pity. She flinched as suddenly a straw hat is placed on top of her head making her look up. All of the straw hats were looking at her.

Luffy had a small grin on his face, "We can help you find a purpose again. Join my crew! We can learn a lot from you and your time sailing the seas!" He exclaims wanting nothing more than to help this woman get her fighting spirit back. Nami chimes in as well. "We many not be able to change your past but we can build a brighter future. together, we can find joy ans meaning in the present!"

"We accept everyone on this crew for who they are, flaws and all." Ussop states as he turns his head with a playful smirk.

Harmony pov.

I looked at all of them. All these young souls who are ready and willing to help me find my way back into the light. "If I am to join your crew could I still keep my old pirate name?" I hesitantly ask them.

"Well its who you are isn't it? Of course you can keep your old name. What was it?" The blue haired man, Franky asked me. "Madame Sphinx, that was the name I when by as Captian of the Anubis pirates."

"Well then Welcome aboard, Madame Sphinx!" Luffy exclaims taking his hat back from my head. The rest of his crew follow suit in cheering and excitement. "He reminds me so much of you, old friend. His smile is almost identical to that of yours, Rodger I think you would like this lad." I think to myself as I follow behind them as they lead me to their ship.

3rd person pov.

Harmony follows behind them as the rowdy bunch go about preparing a feast for the celebration. But they were so caught up in their joy they failed to notice something was happening to their new friend.

Her body was glowing with a ethereal golden glow. She slowly started turning translucent. Noticing what was happening to her own being and knowing what it ment Harmony begged whatever deity was listening to let her new friends know what happened to her.

"There you are captain we've been waiting for you!" A males voice suddenly rung in her head. She looked out and saw the figures of her old crew beckoning her to them. Her first mate and husband Jax a male dog like mink with brown fur was the one who had called out. "We've missed you my love. Its time to come home now." He whispers to her.

suddenly her body and the forms of her old crew disaperate in a golden light. Before vanishing into the heavens.

"Hey Harmony whats..." Sanji trails off seeing as Harmony was suddenly no where to be found. "Guys Harmony's gone!" He shouts as he rushes off to look for her. The rest of the group stop what they were doing and follow his lead calling out for their new friend.

"Everyone get over here, I found something!" Ussop shouts and they all rush over to meet him. When they get to him he's standing in front of a statue. One that has since been overcome with moss and vines. Luffy, zoro and Sanji make hast to remove as much as possible.

What is revealed to them stuns everyone into silence. It was a statue of a younger more lively version of the woman they had met. And there carved in the stone below her feet read these words.
