Where I Belong (Luffy x Reader)

Pairings: Luffy x Female Reader (+ Strawhats and Reader) Summary: After a bad encounter with past friends, you just want your boyfriend and your crew. Warnings: Hurt, Comfort, mean friends, bullying [One Piece Masterlist] _____
When you returned to the Sunny, you didn't expect to feel so heavy and self-decrepit; you honestly expected the opposite.
When Nami informed you that the next island you would visit was your hometown, you had been ecstatic, instantly writing to your childhood friends in the hopes that you could meet up in the short time you were there. Your heart thrummed with the anticipation of being back on land you knew and breathing the nostalgic air of home. When you had gone to tell Luffy the news, he had joined in on your enthusiasm, grinning wide as you told him all you missed and all you hoped to see.
It had been several years since you had left the island and town you grew up in as a child. Orphaned at a young age, the people of the village had all become your caretakers in a way. They all adored you, a sign that the parents you have little recollection of were also adored before they passed away, and you had grown close to most who resided there. But you shared no deeper connection than the one you shared with your friends.
From the early stages of your childhood and into your teenage life, they had been the backbone of your delight in adventures, and the joyous memories spent despite being left with little place to call home. You would spend much of your time travelling areas of the island you had yet to explore, running in meadows on the back end of town, and giving puppy eyes to cafe owners who would spare you sweet treats. In later years you would gossip about boys, laugh at inside jokes, share in troubles and secrets and happiness.
When you had left your island, the goodbyes had been tearful, and bittersweet. Luffy offered all you had wished for since childhood: adventure, devotion, and answers about the world. With your mysterious devil fruit powers and harbouring an unnatural strength, you would be an asset to the straw-hat crew just as much as the crew would be an asset to you. That didn't make it harder to hug your friends goodbye or wave to them atop a ship that takes you far away. And as much as you adore your life now as a pirate on the sea, you could not help but reminisce.
You missed them, and you could not wait to see them again.
Upon arriving on your island, your senses instantly fill with a vibrancy and an air you had missed. "Come on!!" Your crewmates had smiled wide at your enthusiasm, basically dragging Luffy from the ship; a stark contrast to how he would usually be the one dragging you to islands. In an instant, the townsfolk had gathered, seeing a familiar straw hat and the young woman - a little bit older now - they said goodbye to several years prior, now back home.
"[y/n]!!"
"Welcome home!!"
"How long are you staying!?"
You smile tearful smiles as you greet the villagers who are all alive, safe and well. Familiar faces gather in your vision; the island's renowned cook, waitresses from cafes, shopkeepers and old family friends. They all seem so happy to see you and proud of the accomplishments they have read of in newspapers that travel the sea. '[y/n] [l/n], pirate of the Strawhat crew.' You were surprised by their support of your role as a pirate but it only amplified the nostalgia and warming feeling in your heart as you greeted them.
In fact, the only people absent were the childhood friends you hoped to see.
As people dispersed and gave you space, the local bookshop owner assured you that your friends were somewhere close by and that you would surely bump into them soon. Taking his words in confidence you had turned to your crew who had all been smiling and looking on fondly at the sight of your reunion with the townspeople.
"All right, let me show you guys around!"
You had taken your friends around the island, allowing them to see and explore the town that raised you as a child. They smiled when you spoke to them of the different places and what they meant to you, took suggestions on where to explore to heart and seemed genuinely happy to see where you had grown up.
"The restaurant where [y/n]-swan used to eat- The house that [y/n]-swan used to live- The shop where [y/n]-swan used to-"
"Oi, shut up, cook!!"
"Shi shi shi, this place is so cool [y/n]!!"
You grin as your friends seem to enjoy and appreciate the place you adored just as much as you. Sanji swooning over everything that had something to do with you, Zoro eying the liquor store down the street, Robin taking interest in the ancient books the island held, Brook in the music, Franky in the strange inventions, the list could go on. Your heart warmed at the sight of your makeshift family, getting along so well with the family that raised you. Luffy especially seemed excited to explore the island he visited before, keen to try the food that it was famous for.
"And that's about it! You guys can go and explore on your own now if you-"
Your words stumble to a halt when you see three familiar figures approaching you, grins wide and hands in the air in greeting.
"Hey [y/n]!! Is that you?"
Your smile instantly enlightens your face as you turn from your crew briefly. And sure enough, your old friends are waving to you in greeting, eyes gleaming in their joy to see you again.
"It's been so long!!"
They instantly envelop you in a hug, filling the air with their questions on where you have been, and what you have been up to, and finally turning to your crewmates who smile wide at the company of those you have talked fondly about. Of course, they know of your friends, you would often speak of the adventures you went on and the times you spent together to whatever crewmate would listen.
"And this must be the famous Strawhat crew!!"
"Yep! Guys, these are my childhood friends I always tell you about!"
Your friends turn to your crewmates, eyes shining in awe at the crew you were a part of, now infamous due to the battles you won and the strength that every individual pulled. You smile proudly at the sight of your friends greeting your other friends, the compliments thrown and the sheepish laughter of crewmates as they thank them for looking after you.
"Shi shi shi, alright!! It's time for food now!!"
Your boyfriend wraps his arms around you suddenly, grinning wide as he tries to pull you to the restaurant on the island he adores as much as you do. You roll your eyes, but other crewmembers also perk up.
"Actually, I was gonna check out the bookstore."
"And I should grab some groceries-"
"Those inventions earlier looked SUPERRR, I was gonna go check them out!!"
Nami smiles to you emphatically, as she grabs Luffy's ear and drags him from you. "Ow!! Nami!!" She pays him no mind, however, and turns to you and your friends once more.
"Why don't you go catch up with your friends [y/n]? I'll take Luffy to the restaurant and we'll probably be around town anyway."
"But I want to go with [y/n]- Ow!!"
You smile wide at Nami's understanding that you had missed your friends and hoped to catch up. Other crewmembers nod in encouragement.
"Yeah, [y/n]! You should go, we'll be around here if you need us!"
Chopper smiles happily at you and you hesitate at Luffy's crestfallen expression, but ultimately take the invitation.
"Okay, thanks, guys!!"
"Take your time, we'll be here until tomorrow morning!"
Nami continues to drag Luffy away in bright words and smiles, as the Strawhat crew wave and disperse to the areas that each ignited curiosity in them. Luffy pouts, telling you to not be too long but ultimately persuaded that the food at the restaurant could keep him company for the time you spent away. And in their absence, you turn to your friends eager to hear what you had missed in the years spent at sea.
The beginning goes as you expected, courteous questions, still tentative in the presence of friends you had not seen in a while.
"So, how have you been, [y/n]?"
"How's life at sea?"
And to the questions you received, you replied in the same manner, still joyous, seeing your friends once more. Time away with the future pirate king did mean leaving a life you had grown so attached to behind but in its place, the Sunny became your temporary home. You still missed the simplicity of life on the quaint island you resided in, and seeing your friends ignited memories of the times you spent together.
"I've been doing great!! So many cool adventures, I don't even know where to start-"
You had thought your keenness in the stories you told of the adventures at sea would be received with the same enthusiasm. After all, you had spent so much time away and shared a heartfelt goodbye before you left the island. However, the longer you spoke of your adventures and the longer you spoke of Luffy and your crew, the more their upturned lips started to turn downwards. Their gaze on you started to waver, and in the absence of your crewmates as they walked to restaurants or looked to places around the island, their interest in you also started to falter.
"-and then, you wouldn't believe. But Luffy, he changed gears and punched him through-"
"Yeah, yeah, that sounds great [y/n], but we were actually going to go to the shops right about now."
You pause, surprised by the abruptness of your friend who interrupts the words from your mouth. Suddenly, flustered and thinking you have talked too much (though having only spoken a few sentences), you instantly quietened and nodded in inclined understanding.
"Oh, yeah! Of course, don't let me stop you guys! Where were we thinking of going? I remember that clothing store down the road to that cafe we liked-"
"Oh... you wanted to come too?"
You frown as they interrupt once more, the vibrant air suddenly dwindling with what their words imply, or the feeling you suddenly did not belong in a space you were so sure you did.
"I mean, I thought we could catch up! It's been a while right?"
Your words are less confident than you hoped, lingering with the hesitance that matched the sudden weight of your thoughts. You watch as your friends look at each other, the same hesitance on their faces making you more confused as to why they are acting this way. They seem to share thoughts between their eyes, but ultimately they seem to come to a silent agreement.
"Okay."
But the day that passed had been nothing like what you were used to, and the friends you thought you knew acted nothing like the friends you spent your childhood with. It seemed like an invisible wall was put between you and them, and you followed behind them as you travelled the streets and to the shops. You hear them talk of dinner plans, of meeting people and of events they do not bother explaining to you. They laugh at jokes you don't understand, pass you a sympathetic smile and words like, "You just had to be there," and, "Oh, sorry [y/n], you wouldn't understand, would you?"
And you didn't know exactly why, but those words hit harder than the times they would ignore you as they picked out clothes and giggled with each other. Or when they went through stores and chose jewellery for an event that would take place a week from the current day. Or when they seemed to talk in whispers and not let you in. Each time they acted like you were a fly on the wall, invisible to them though you spent the whole day with them. Suggestions from you to visit the meadow, or go to cafes you so missed fell on deaf ears and all you received were hums and, "Oh, we don't go there anymore."
Your heart felt heavy and the day was long. You tried to convince yourself that this was just what happens when you don't see friends in a while. They grow, they move on. But you also remember how often you spent missing your friends, how you wrote to them even with their sparse replies, or how you cherished and held the memories of them so dear. And now, you see them trying to get rid of you silently, push you away from the circle they made, and their initial interest in your happenings as a pirate had long gone.
It seemed, their interest in you had gone.
But the worst was when you had left to use the bathroom. When you had gone briefly and returned to your friends who looked at dresses, the afternoon sun was already falling to the ground. You were surprised at how the day had passed unbeknownst to you when it had felt so long. You wonder what Luffy was doing, and how Nami was doing taking care of your boyfriend while you were away. He didn't necessarily need to be taken care of, but the two of you often explored islands together and you wondered if he missed you as you missed him.
When you had passed through rows of clothing and were walking past patrons to your friends, you heard your name amongst words you know you shouldn't have heard.
"Damn, was [y/n] always like this?"
"Beats me, do you see the letters she sends us like she's better than us, travelling the sea with the Strawhats."
"Yeah, it's still a wonder they let her join. I only went up to her 'cause I wanted to see if her crewmates were worth all the hype they're getting..."
"Right?! Why did she have to send them away?"
You freeze, still hidden from your friends' view by a clothes rack that impairs their vision. Stomach churning at the words you hear slip past their lips. Your eyes widen, as though you do not see them, your name and their voices confirm it is they who speak to you like a stranger they ridicule, and in such a way that makes your heart sink. Your childhood friends, who you had placed such value in, mocked you for your life choices, and your role on the Strawhat crew, and hoped only to use you to get closer to your infamous crew.
"Did you see the swordsman? Zoro, I think it was? Talk about muscle..."
"And omg, Nami's sense of fashion is just so good, I wish I could've had her tag along instead of-"
It is then that you step forward past the racks, and your friends perk up at your sudden movements, words dying on their tongues. But you try to keep a neutral expression, despite the breaking of your heart. They seem to be convinced you have heard nothing as they wait a moment for you to say something.
"I-I think I'm gonna go now. I don't wanna keep my crew waiting."
Again, your words are hesitant, low but you keep them sturdy enough to sound like a genuine concern you are going to adhere to. Instantly, your friends stand, giving you more attention than they did the whole day.
"Oh, really? Are you sure you don't wanna stay? You could come for dinner, maybe even invite your crew-"
"It's fine."
You smile, straining against your cheeks as you do, hoping your lips have upturned enough to contain the falsity of your expression.
"Thanks for today though, it was nice seeing you guys again."
Words slip your lips almost robotically, hands numb as you feel your friends awkwardly hug you and say their goodbyes. You faintly remember them waving and muttering words like, "Good luck," and "We'll see you next time," but as your legs pull you free from the stuffiness of the store it is like your numbness comes undone. Raging feelings course through your body, and suddenly a line of tears lay on your lower lashline.
You curse yourself.
You hate the way you have been so excited to see your friends when clearly the same sentiment was not returned. You hate the way you wrote to them and reminisced about them and spoke to your crew so fondly of them. You hate the way they have such influence over your joy and the disappointment that drips into your system because of their words and actions. You had spent the whole day with people who barely spared you any mind, when you could've been with Luffy and your true friends, showing them your home town.
Luffy.
Suddenly, and perhaps, more than ever, you crave your boyfriend's presence and his wide smile. And so, you walk through the streets you used to adore, now burdened with the day you spent. Smiling half-heartedly at townsfolk who recognise you and bid their greetings, travelling concrete roads that glow with the sunset, walking familiar paths to the Sunny that was silent on the sea. A moment passes when you look up at the sight, remembering when Luffy had asked you to join him. The image of the ship was parallel to the day you joined the Strawhats: you were on the island looking at the Going Merry and making a decision that would change your life.
You walk, up to the deck, confused about the silence until you hear a yell from inside the kitchen.
"LUFFY!! What are you doing!! That's for [y/n]!!!"
"But I'm hungryyy!! She won't mind, she always shares with me!!"
"You ate at the restaurant!!"
When you open the door, you are met by the sight of Nami trying to wrangle food from Luffy's clutches. You recognised the meal as something your favourite restaurant makes, it was your favourite meal, and something you missed dearly, along with the island. There are two beats of silence until Luffy turns, face suddenly going from frustrated to a wide grin the instant he notices you.
"[y/n]!!"
Luffy jumps from the spot where he had been trying to steal food from Nami, instantly enveloping you in a hug that takes you stumbling back a few steps. Nami sighs loudly before putting the packed meal on the counter and stomping outside the kitchen.
"Idiot... I'll be on the island with the crew!!"
She doesn't wait for your reply and leaves the kitchen in abrupt frustration. Luffy doesn't seem to mind her absence though as he lifts his head from where he embraces you, a smile tugging against the corners of his lips. Still downtrodden from the day's events and trials, you take the sight in and feel the weight of the day fall onto you and disappear at the same time. Tears start to line your eyes once more, but you hold them in, unfortunately for you, however, Luffy notices your quiet and despondency.
"[y/n]? What's wrong?"
He releases you from his deathly embrace as he looks at you seriously. You on the other hand laugh softly as you shake your head, suddenly relieved to be with your boyfriend and away from the friends who made you feel so awful about yourself.
"Nothing's wrong... I just missed you."
Luffy hums in contemplation, staring and tilting his head for several moments as though analysing your features for a trace of a lie. But you guess your words are not a lie. You did miss him after all, more than ever when you were with your childhood friends; a burden and outcast. Your smile is still on your lips, and though sadder than usual, Luffy decides to trust you, as he matches your expression with a grin.
"I missed you too!! Look, we got something for you."
Luffy instantly turns to the counter where Nami just put the meal she claimed to have gotten you. Luffy smiles cheekily as he hands it to you. You smile at the gesture, it was a massive assortment of foods the local chef knew you adored.
"Wanna eat together?"
You don't even have to ask as Luffy jumps on a chair by the dining room table, eagerly waiting for you to join him. However, he must've sensed something was off with you because instead of going straight into the meal, he watches as you unpack it carefully. There was more food than you thought there would be, so you were glad you had enlisted your boyfriend's help to devour it. You pick up your fork and take a bite, savouring the way the food melts in your mouth, and ignites feelings of nostalgia buried so deep within you that it almost makes you cry.
"Luffy, this is sooo good!!"
"Really!?"
You turn and grin, but are taken aback when you witness the way Luffy is smiling to you. It is in a way that seems gentler, and softer than usual. There is adoration in his eyes like you were the treasure he searched the seas for, but hidden within are also the depths of understanding you do not usually see. It is instantly diminished, however, as he clutches a fork and takes a bite of the meal himself, face brightening at the taste. However, as he speaks there is a serious undertone that makes you think that maybe he was not so quick to diminish your sullen behaviour earlier.
"Your friends... They weren't nice to you, were they?"
You freeze and look to your Captain who looks from the food to you imploringly, a serious glint in his eyes, but a sad smile on his face.
"What do you-"
"You only look like that, when you had a bad day."
Luffy's lips turn to a frown now as he bites into the meal and lets the silence linger between the two of you. Still surprised by his words, but also moved by the way your oblivious captain seems to understand you to no end, you smile softly despite the tears that fall from your eyes, now unstoppable. Luffy still looks at you in concern, as he witnesses the upturn of your lips, and the falling of tears, and he waits for the words you speak softly.
"Yeah. They were different, changed, and maybe this isn't the home it used to be..."
You look to your boyfriend who remains patiently waiting for you to finish speaking your thoughts. You remember back to when you accepted his offer to join the crew. You recall the adventures you went on, your beloved crewmates and how so many had joined and how you had all come so much closer, like the family you never had. You remember confusing love confessions due to Luffy's inability to understand his feelings.
You remember the depths of care your boyfriend held throughout the entirety of your relationship.
How he would listen when you spoke of your adventures, lured in by the spark in your eyes when you talked of something enthusiastically. How he would laugh and smile and never make you feel excluded from the company around you. How he treated you and his nakama with such importance and faith. The stark contrast to what you experienced today.
"... but it's okay. The crew is my home now."
You smile and Luffy's eyes widen for a second before he grins, his same, wide and unfaltering smile. The two of you share in your gaze once more before Luffy takes his Strwaht and places it on your head. It fits snugly atop your hair, but more so there lingers the symbol that you were accepted, loved, and adored by the man you sit beside. Smiles linger as the both of you continue to dig into the meal in front of you and soon, crewmates come back to the ship and greet you in their pure, true contentment.
"Hey [y/n]!!"
"Damn [y/n], you never told us how SUPERRR your island is!"
"I had a lovely time."
“So many cute dresses!!”
As you watch your crewmates gather around the table, their own meals in hand no doubt by the local cook who provided them, you let the heaviness of your heart dissipate for a while. Whilst this island still holds memories and places you adore, with people you still hold dear, it felt like for the first time in a long time, you know where you belong.

How they'd spend Valentine's Day with you
Pairings: Penguin, Marco, Franky, Izou x Reader Tags: sfw, fluff, established relationship, GN but written with F!Reader in mind, no use of y/n
a/n: you might be thinking, what a random set of characters! well, a while ago i did a poll on which of my blorbos i should write a valentine’s fic for, and Killer won, but i still felt like doing something for the other characters who didn’t win, so here are some valentine’s day headcanons with them! i hope you enjoy this and please be on the lookout for the Killer fic on 14 feb too 😘
Penguin
Penguin would be the type to ask “Will you be my Valentine’s?” every single time on Valentine’s Day, even after years of dating.
When you say yes, like you always do, he’d grin so wide and give you a big smooch right on your lips.
Penguin loves to spoil you with gifts.
He’d take you out on a special date to the market, indulging you as you browse the many stalls there one by one.
Without you knowing, he’d pay attention and take note of all the things you touched and admired, the stuff you’d eye for a tad bit too long, the items that made your eyes sparkle.
He’d buy every single one of them.
At the end of the day, his bag would be stuffed with all the little trinkets, to the point that it would be hard for him to hide it from you.
Before you return to the Polar Tang, he’d hand over the bag to you with a shy smile, which would turn into a wide grin when he witnessed your surprised expression and gasp of delight.
His face would flush as you hug him tight and pepper kisses all over his face.
He’d never get tired of receiving affection from you. That, for him, is the most precious gift of all.
Marco
Marco was not a fan of Valentine’s Day. He had always thought it trivial... at least, until he met you.
On your first Valentine’s Day as a couple, he’d be so nervous that he’d ask Ace for advice.
The Fire Fist would recommend candlelight dinners, romantic poetries, breakfast in bed – but none of them seemed right.
For Marco, loving you is as simple as breathing, as natural as flying. He had never felt the need to do grand gestures to show his love, and you never expected him to either. You have never felt more loved than the time you spent with Marco.
It would come as a surprise when a knock sounds on your door, and you open it to reveal a bashful Marco holding a humble bunch of hand-picked flowers.
His face would be bright red as he asks for your hand, inviting you out to the deck. You’d follow in confusion, even more so when he tells you to hop onto his back.
He’d spread his wings of blue flames and take you to the skies, laughing when you yelp in shock and tighten your grip around his neck, eyes firmly shut
He’d urge you to open your eyes, and you’d gasp in wonder at the sight of the bright stars all around you.
You’d relax and enjoy the wind on your face, occasionally giving him a peck on the cheek from your perch on his back.
Fear would not find you for the rest of the flight, despite the terrifying height.
You were with Marco, after all. He would never let you fall.
Franky
Franky is definitely a romantic and you bet he’d go all out for Valentine’s.
You’d be randomly visited by robot doves singing love songs. You’d find little love notes folded into hearts tucked in your drawers, slid underneath your door, and not-so-subtly slipped into your pockets.
The day would culminate in a romantic dinner on the upper deck of the Sunny.
He’d stand there with a suit (no pants, of course), the red bow tie matching his speedos and the massive bouquet of roses he’s holding out to you.
He’d grin, “Happy Valentine’s, Sugar.”
Before him would be a table for two, complete with a white tablecloth, candles, and a scatter of rose petals.
He’d pull out your chair, not forgetting to compliment your looks and outfit, of course.
He would've begged Sanji to make all of your favorite meals, bribing him with a new state-of-the-art lock for the fridge.
You two would share a toast with cola-filled wine glasses and spend the night just chatting and laughing together, and maybe shamelessly flirting too.
After dinner, he’d treat you to a spectacular fireworks show, and you’d wonder how he managed to make the pink sparks explode into heart patterns all over the night sky.
A sweet kiss would be the cherry on top following dessert, the sugary taste lingering as he’d drag you to some secret corner on the Sunny that only he knew about.
Izou
Izou never so much as holds your hand in front of other people.
“It’s not very becoming of Wano men to show public displays of affection,” would be his usual excuse.
You never really minded. You’re plenty satisfied with the affection he showers you with whenever the two of you are alone.
But on Valentine’s Day, as the Whitebeard Pirates party the night away at a crowded bar, Izou would suddenly grasp your hips and pull you into his lap, his hand possessively resting against your thigh.
You’d quirk an eyebrow at him, “I thought it wasn’t becoming of Wano men to show public displays of affection.”
“Well, I’m a pirate now. I can do whatever I want.”
You’d laugh, knowing him well enough to figure out that he just wanted the other men at the bar to back off, in case they get ideas of wooing you during this Day of Love.
After a while, you’d drag him away from the bar, eagerly leading him to the shore where you can take a leisurely stroll beneath the moon.
Moonlit walks are among Izou's favorite things to do, and he had started taking you with him when you two became a couple.
You love how the moon illuminates his face and reflects off his hair. You love how serene and romantic these quiet walks with Izou are
But most of all, you love how it would be just the two of you out there on the shore, and you know that Izou’s hands and lips are always the most free when no one is watching.

Hiiii! :DD can I request Franky, Zoro, and Luffy x a really cute hyper feminine?
Hey, hey! You sure can request this! This was adorable to think about, so thank you for sending it in! I hope you like what I’ve written for you. 💜💜
CW: fluff, fem!reader, headcanons, romantic
With a cute and feminine reader (Franky, Zoro, Luffy)
Franky
It’d take him a long time to stop blushing madly at your mannerisms.
Even though he was a big guy who was silly and kind of immature, he could appreciate the delicate and feminine beauty you had.
He’d want to be gentle with you, holding you close to him and giving you cuddles.
He loved everything about you, but he especially adored your sweet laugh. When he was around there was always a joke being told or a laugh projecting out of him. Hearing you laugh at his silly behavior would mean so much to him.
There were moments you’d look at the other when they were doing something. Admiring them while they were lost in their own little world.
When he was working on building something or tending to the Sunny and caught you looking at him - your face beaming with adoration - he’d tease you and blush slightly.
He liked looking at you when you were sitting quietly completely immersed in one of your hobbies. That gentle smile and sparkle when your eyes met his never failed to send him over the moon.
Zoro
He wasn’t really sure what to think of your hyper femininity at first because, in a way, it came off as an act. Almost as if it was slightly done to get attention.
However, the more time he spent around you, the more he understood that you were being your genuine self.
It took him a while to get used to your quirks. There were times he wasn’t sure if he’d upset you or make you feel uncomfortable in some way, seeing as he was far from what you were probably used to.
He still cared about you, even if he didn’t always express it.
With your fondness of perfumes, lotions and other various beauty products, he’d roll his eyes—not really seeing the point in all of it.
When he finished a workout session one day, you offered to give him a massage. You used one of your favorites on him as you soothed all the wear and tear in his tired muscles.
That may have been the moment you won him over entirely. The selflessness you showed him along with the gentle care you gave him were actions he wasn’t going to easily forget.
Luffy
You didn’t have the easiest time hitting it off. There were moments you appeared to be cowardly to him and unwilling to get your hands dirty in a sense.
But similarly to Zoro, after spending more time around each other, he came to realize you were more than what you presented yourself as.
He didn’t really think much of your overly cute and feminine behavior. To him, that was just how you were.
That being said, he quickly came around to the pampering aspect. Whenever you played with his hair, it became impossible not to drift off to sleep in your lap. When his body ached, he asked if you could use some of that ‘smell good’ oil or lotion on him, which you had no issues doing.
He came to deeply appreciate you and would even offer to return the favor if you were feeling a bit sore. Having someone to share these types of things with - things that he wouldn’t have thought of doing prior - gave your relationship depth.
And of course, he would forever be yours if you could cook.

Golden Afternoon
Pairing: Monkey D. Luffy x StrawHat! Reader
You and your caption relax together during a sunset before dinner.
Reader is GN and it can be read as platonic or romantic.
On with the show!!~
The sun was beginning its descent, casting a golden glow over the deck of the Thousand Sunny. The ship rocked gently with the rhythm of the ocean, creating a soothing cadence that matched the lazy afternoon. You and Luffy were nestled in his hammock, its soft fabric cradling you both in a cocoon of warmth and comfort.
The world around you was tranquil; the crew was taking a well-deserved break, lounging around and enjoying the serene atmosphere. The breeze from the ocean was a refreshing contrast against the fading warmth of the afternoon sun. It drifted over your shoulders, carrying with it the salty tang of the sea and the gentle scent of the ship's wood.
Luffy's tan skin was a comforting warmth against you as he held you close. His presence was both grounding and comforting, his rhythmic humming a soft backdrop to the sounds of the ship. His hand threaded through your locs with a tender, rhythmic touch, while the other caressed the gentle curve of your back. The sensation of his fingers brushing against your skin was soothing, a perfect counterpoint to the cooling breeze.
He whispered softly, his breath tickling your ear, urging you to look at the horizon. You shifted onto your elbows slightly, feeling the hammock adjust to your movement as Luffy helped you turn over. His touch was gentle, lifting his straw hat from your head and guiding you so that you could face the lights rays. As you settled back into his embrace, you were now lying with your back against his chest, his legs intertwined with yours. The sunset painted the sky in rich hues of orange and pink, a vibrant contrast against the deepening blue of the ocean.
You propped yourself up slightly, eager to see the light reflecting off the water. The golden red hues of the sun danced across the waves, creating a shimmering path that seemed to lead right to the horizon. As the sun made its final dip, Chopper's voice rang out with cheerful enthusiasm. "Good night, Sun!" he called out, his voice filled with innocent delight. It was a simple, heartfelt moment that made you smile.
Sanji, ever the diligent chef, stood up from his seat and began to serve dinner, the aroma of his cooking wafting through the air. The colors of the sky continued to shift, the vibrant blues and oranges giving way to cooler shades of pink and dusky purple. A few stars began to peek out from the deepening sky, twinkling softly in the fading light.
Luffy's cheeky, playful smile never wavered as he pressed his cheek gently against your shoulder. You looked down to find him gazing up at you with a bright, infectious grin. His eyes sparkled with warmth and affection, and it made your own smile widen. You leaned into him, pressing your nose against his cheek, and let your foreheads rest together in a tender, intimate gesture.
The world seemed to slow down, the beauty of the sunset and the closeness of Luffy creating a moment of pure, unspoken calm. The gentle caress of the breeze, and the warmth of Luffy’s embrace all combined to make this moment feel timeless and perfect. You felt at peace, wrapped in the simple joy of being together, as the sky continued to change colors and the stars took their places in the evening sky.
The moon was just beginning to peek out from behind the horizon when Sanji’s voice rang out, "Come on, you two, dinner!"
Luffy didn't need to be told twice. With an excited gleam in his eyes, he scrambled out of the hammock, taking you with him in one fluid motion. His arms were strong and steady as he lifted you effortlessly, your squeals of delight mingling with his joyful laughter. The two of you tumbled onto the deck, giggling like children as Luffy steadied you both.
The crew watched on, their faces illuminated with affection. Zoro smirked, leaning casually against the railing, while Nami and Robin exchanged knowing smiles. Usopp chuckled, shaking his head at Luffy’s boundless energy, and Franky gave a thumbs-up, his grin as wide as ever. Chopper clapped his hooves together in delight, his eyes shining with happiness.
Luffy's excitement was infectious, and you couldn't help but smile as he carried you toward the promise of a delicious meal and the warmth of your friends.
You’d be asleep in his arms again soon enough.

“Hey, Franosuke, are you married?”
The question didn’t take Franosuke, a carpenter in the Flower Capital of Wano, completely by surprise. After all, a few of his coworkers had just spent the better half of their break complaining about their home lives—how their wives were on their asses about drinking and spending time with geishas instead of helping take care of the kids. Which was entirely in their right to do, in Franosuke’s opinion; a man should take responsibility and help his family, be it wife, kids, siblings, or parents!
But voicing those thoughts would go against his ‘role’, wouldn’t it?
And so, Franosuke simply laughed, shaking his head. “No way, man! I’m free as a super bird!”
“Good for you!” one of the men said, slapping Franosuke’s shoulder.
“Oh, but,” another one noted with a knowing smirk, “I hear you’ve got quite the favourite in old Tsugaru Umi’s teahouse.”
A small choir of ohh immediately followed as all his coworkers turned to look at Franosuke with wide, almost evil grins on their faces. A second later, a barrage of questions followed.
“It’s O-Some, isn’t it?!”
“I bet it’s Kisegawa!”
“The Oiran’s procession is going to be next month, I bet you switch your favourite then! Always happens.”
Honestly, Franosuke had no idea who or what they were talking about… but a happy smile still pulled on his lips as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. Because, while his coworkers speculated wildly about who his favourite geisha might or might not be, he couldn’t stop his mind from wandering.
Wandering to the silky black hair, two-coloured blue eyes, and mind so sharp it could destroy a man in a second.
Shaking his head, Franky laughed loudly as he brought himself to the reality where he was surrounded by a bunch of dudes with the smell of wood and sweat in the air. “You’re making me feel super weird now, guys! She’s a super lady. I’m not going to replace her because some pin-up girl walks by!”
His coworkers exchanged a confused glance. “What’s ‘pin-up girl’?”
Oh.
Shit, he shouldn’t have said that.
“A beautiful, sexy woman?” Franosuke tried, wrecking his brain for an excuse. “It’s… a dialect.”
Several doubtful looks and murmurs of, “where is he from again?” were his only response and he felt sweat building on his back, his shirt sticking to his skin uncomfortably. What could he say? How did he change the topic without it sounding forced?
What a super dumb slip of the tongue that was…
“Hey, assholes!! Stop slacking or I’m gonna fire you!”
All the men on the construction site jumped at the angry shout, everyone immediately rushing to pick up their saws and hammers and get to work. Meanwhile… Franosuke was never more grateful for Master Minatomo and his awful personality.
—————
Walking down the familiar streets of the Flower Capital, Franosuke marvelled at how easy finding his way was now. After all, it had only been a few weeks since he had arrived here and at first, the roads felt incredibly confusing. Them all being named 1st Street and 2nd Street and 36th Street wasn’t helping either because… 36th from what?
It made no sense to him. The city he grew up in was huge too but Water 7 had never felt as hard to navigate as this.
Now, though, he could walk these streets blindfolded—at least the parts of the city he knew. Actually… how many times had he walked this route? Even his coworkers had started to notice he visited the place often… Some might even say too often; they might say he was pathetic, hopeless, throwing away money for no reason, for a fake dream.
But it wasn’t fake, a dream, or hopeless to him.
Instead, the sight of the teahouse attached to a certain okiya made him feel happy. Excited.
“Sir Franosuke, we’ve been expecting you.” The teahouse worker bowed deeply in greeting before leading him to his reserved room and bowing again.
Franosuke wondered whether this treatment would ever stop freaking him out; it was like he was a nobility whenever he walked in here, it was super weird. But, he supposed that was what went with exclusive patronage—honestly, it was a miracle he was even allowed in here. Not many were, certainly not people who appeared suddenly out of nowhere with no background and no connections.
Yet another reason to suffer old Minatomo and his tantrums; if it weren’t for his patronage of this place, his recommendation, and friendship with the owner, there was no way for Franosuke to even get a glimpse of the garden, never mind getting to walk through the doors to this small, private room.
Well, no reason to dwell on that. He was here and that was all that mattered!
The moment he sat down at the tiny, low table, the door slid open quietly once more. And when he glanced towards it… a wide smile pulled on his lips.
Kneeling on the ground just outside the room was a geisha, her head slightly bowed, eyes turned modestly to the ground. She waited a few seconds before she rose to her feet, entered the room and kneeled again to close the door behind herself, then turned to face Franosuke directly for the first time.
“Welcome… my Lord,” she said in a sweet voice before her eyes turned to the side once more. This time, however, it was in a more of a coy way than anything.
The sight nearly made Franosuke start laughing.
“Seeing you act like this, I feel like you’re about to assassinate me every time, Miss O-Robi.”
Now, it was O-Robi’s turn to quickly cover her mouth with her kimono sleeve to hide her chuckle. “I think Luffy wouldn’t be very happy if he came here with Sanji only to find out his shipwright was now in pieces, being sold for metal scrap.”
Franosuke frowned, crossing his large metal arms over his chest. “Hey! Are you doubting my abilities? I’m not so easy to just take apart and sell, lady!” He paused, then added, “You would make a lot of money with me though.”
This time, O-Robi couldn’t hold her quiet giggle back. She didn’t bother hiding it either as she finally joined Franosuke at his table. “I’ll make sure to sell you to the underground. I know people would pay hundreds of millions of beri for that laser beam of yours, Franky,” she said, her voice light with amusement.
“You’d better,” Franky huffed, nodding to himself. “Those people’d appreciate my super armoured body at least!”
Shaking her head with an easy smile still playing on her lips, Robin grabbed the sake bottle off the table, pouring Franky a cup with practised ease. Up until now, Franky had never realised how elegant such a simple action could be; it was like watching art in motion. Robin’s graceful hands were holding the bottle gently, the sake trickling into the cup with precision, not a single drop wasted. She was leaning forward slightly, the collar of her kimono falling low in the back, exposing and accentuating her long, delicate neck.
Franky jumped when someone tapped his shoulder right then, breaking him out of his reverie—when he turned to look who it was, however, only a detached hand growing out of his own arm greeted him, before it scattered into flower petals.
“Staring is rude, you know,” Robin said, shooting Franky a teasing look.
The man huffed out a laugh as he leaned forward, pressing his lips to Robin’s cheek, careful of her make-up. “Sorry, Robin. Just admiring how beautiful my super geisha is.”
“A geisha mustn’t be touched, my Lord,” Robin said sternly, but the corners of her mouth twitched, her eyes dancing.
“Kick me out, then.” Franky grinned and, without missing a beat, kissed her again.
Robin laughed. “You’re impossible.”
Finally, Franky grabbed the sake bottle from her, pouring her own cup for her. With a small thank you, Robin raised her cup to her lips, taking a sip—and then, as if completely letting go of her ‘role’, she leaned into Franky’s side, sighing contently.
For but a second, Franky froze.
But then, something warm spilled inside of his chest and he raised his arm, pulling her closer to him. He almost forgot how it felt having Robin next to him, how comforting and exciting feeling her body heat seep into his skin—numb and hard with metal right underneath—was. The archeologist was so small next to him. Small and beautiful and oh-so deadly.
Franky knew that if she wanted to, she would be able to kill him in seconds. But she didn’t—wouldn’t. Not anymore. And Franky loved knowing that, loved that she chose every day to be here, with the crew. With him. She had gone through so much pain, but she was willing to open herself up and trust them even so.
He would make super damn sure she never regretted that decision.
Letting his smaller, human-sized hand out of his regular hand, Franky reached out, touching Robin’s cheek softly, making her tilt her head back to look at him. Robin hummed questioningly, but Franky only sighed. “I really wanna kiss you.”
“You did already.”
Franky clicked his tongue. “You know what I mean, Robin.”
“You’ll mess up my make-up,” Robin noted.
“And your teacher will yell at you, I know.”
With a sigh, Franky retreated his hand; he really didn’t want a repeat of the first time he came here… Robin wasn’t allowed to leave the okiya for days after that, apparently something about proper geisha manners and perceived perfection and innocence. He didn’t really get it but he sure didn’t need a detailed explanation. Definitely not from the tiny old hag. She looked like she would go on forever given the chance.
Quickly covering her mouth with her kimono sleeve, Robin chuckled at Franky’s disappointment.
But then, Franky blinked when one of Robin’s hands came to rest against his shoulder, another on his chest as she rose to her knees with a soft smile on her lips—and a playful twinkle in her eyes. A third and a fourth hand cupped Franky’s face, gently guiding him forward—and a second later, their lips met, moulding together easily as they kissed properly for the first time in weeks.
Franky grinned into the kiss; the smell of the powder on Robin’s skin mixing with her perfume was tickling his nose, her lips soft against his own. The feeling made his heart race as if this was their first time.
It would probably always feel that way to him. With Robin, every day was like their first—especially now. After not seeing her for two whole years, it was as if he couldn’t get enough of her presence, her voice, her touch, her brilliance.
She was just as beautiful, just as smart, just as perfect as she was when they first met. The only difference was that she was much more herself.
And Franky couldn’t help but love every last bit off her.
When his coworker asked if he was married earlier, Franky wasn’t being entirely honest. But… it wasn’t like he was completely lying either. He did have a wife but they were pirates, after all, and pirate weddings weren’t exactly official. Moreover, they were officiated by the captain. And their captain being Luffy… The whole thing pretty much consisted of Luffy saying ‘Marry you? Yeah, why not. Done.’ and then immediately asking if there was a wedding cake.
Franky hesitated calling that a wedding. More like a super speed run of one. But—
It was enough for them.
Whether they were an assassin and a dismantler, an archeologist and a shipwright, or a geisha and a carpenter, Franky knew Robin would always be right there, by his side.
And Franky would always be grateful for it, ready to love her exactly the way she was in return.

Trafalgar Law x Witch!straw hat (part 7) tw: malnourishment
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
………The ashes fell to the ground joining the rest while the fire and ice disappeared letting the place go back to being a ghost town with Y/N standing still looking down at the ground at what had come to the dark magicians. "With the fight with my family enemy ends I wish for a peaceful rest upon your souls by the guidance of Vaelorian the Boundless light" She whispered to the ashes at her feet wishing them a calm descent, before hearing a sound coming on ahead.
"jeez! You think I am tired? I can do this ALL DAY!" going back to a defensive position she yelled at them expecting more dark magicians but instead, they were…….Kids? "oh! Hey there!" realizing there was no danger she waved at them with a small smile forgetting the events that had just transpired. The kids weren't alone as more kids and some adults walked up to her slowly, they were frail but not the skin and bones of the dark magicians still not much better with rugged clothes. "she beat them up?" one inquired prompting the child from before to nod "a new one?" a woman asked with hope looking at the elder "our SAVIOUR!" the elder yelled falling to his knees before her prompting everyone to do the same . . . "What?" indeed a good question to ask, they saw her turn her enemy THIER PEOPLE into a bunch of half frozen half burnt crushed ceramics by summoning a storm of ice spikes and fireballs, yet they call her their savior? That's a first! "so uh about those guys I have a few questions" Feeling awkward she decided to ask about them.
"are old saviors!" the elder spoke again happy to be of help to 'the savior', "when the old ones get defeated the winner becomes our new one!" This is ridiculously stupid even but………………..even if she wanted to she can't stay especially knowing that her friends are probably on their way here to help. "sounds like a sweet offer but I have better things to do" She waved them off before turning around and deciding to leave, the town didn't need her anyway with the soul magicians gone life can return to them, food would grow, no more plagues, and their spirits wouldn't be slowly drained for power by those monsters….and the town could benefit from any improvement really. 'why do I feel like I forgot something?' "the savior is leaving!" one child shouted, but she didn't stop nor care focusing more on what she forgot "Please stay! will do anything!" a woman yelled before turning to her assumably son "you can have my son!" the man hearing his mothers shout stood up "I offer myself to you! as the first sacrifice!" he rose a bit on his knee to stand out a bit from the crowd who had their noses touch the ground with their deep bow
now that made her stop to turn around with confusion 'how did it come to this?' "WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I WANT THAT!" she scolded the young man baffled at their attempt to make her stay. "then let us offer our other specimens!" the chief shouted as more people stood up, some were seemingly stronger than the other, some posed for her while some looked as nervous as freshmen in high school, but they all shared one thing the desire to devote their whole existence to her. "That's not what I want!" she yelled again with comic tears running down her face while pulling her own hair 'the hell do I do with a harem!' It was a hysterical scene from defeating the magicians to now trying to escape a potential harem, on the other hand, while Y/N is trying to leave this situation peacefully without losing her sanity the straw hats were running to the village.
Luffy the moment he saw Robin and Chopper show up panicked he knew he had to find Y/N, he had to act, so while Robin explained the situation all he needed to know was that she was in a village and he sprung to action. Soon the others joined, Ussop, Sanji, and Nami, the rest had to stay to guard the ship, while Chopper ran with them. "Y/N JUST WAIT!" luffy yelled running as fast as he could not sure of the location but he was sure as hell gonna find her. . . . "where luffy?!" yelled Sanji running close to nami "he left the moment we said we got attacked" answered Chopper "That idio- the hell" Nami stopped looking up prompting everyone to do the same "a storm? you didn't say there might be a storm!" commented Ussop "There wasn't supposed to be one" and that made it clear to everyone, that it wasn't dark clouds created by nature but by a witch, their witch! And it ain't raining water! "seems like things are getting more dangerous," said Ussop not wanting to see what was going to rain. "come on where close!" encouraged Chopper earning a nod from Sanji and a long drag from his cigar "Ussop your not planning on running, right?" said nami nervously, but he imediatly denied it, but they couldn't deny that things might get tense……..

There’s gonna be a new op series called character remix!!
this is so exciting and cool!
here’s my thoughts and take on it 💌💗
so if you haven’t heard it’s basically where we’ll get to view all the strawhats pov before they met Luffy, instead of picking up on they’re life where Luffy met them since the anime is in his pov. They’ll be going in chronological order and the first 2 volumes will come out July 4th. Starting with Luffy I believe, in stead of flashbacks like marineford we’ll get the full thing! :) yippie! Also! There’s gonna be 580 pages per volume! That’ll totally be packed with info right?! 🎉
starting with who I’m most curious about:
Robin: 📖📚
she’s first because most backstories are straight to the point in flashbacks but for me it just feels like it happened really quickly. Personal opinion. Also! We got to see that she likes books but we mostly saw her pain. The only thing to have ever made her happy as a child was books, Saul and the researchers. Therefore we didn’t get a chance to learn much about little robin! Would she like dolls if she had to opportunity to get one? Or building blocks? If she wasn’t neglected would she have been a louder person naturally? You never know because how you grow up can mold you, so if you’re in a survival mode from such a young age you don’t get much time to focus on your personality! Which is why I like Robin’s “saying creepy things” gag, it lets me know she’d be a bit of a weirdo! But it can also stem from hardly having any light in her life- also fact that she’s straightforward about it shows some of her personality as well!
Zoro: ⚔️🗡️
this guy’s past is definitely gonna be good! We seriously didn’t get to see anything about him at all! We don’t know what he like’s personally, and yes training and such, but what about silly little adventures?! He lost Kuina which is a part of big part of darkness in his life, but we still don’t know Zoro on a deep level. Really it’s just gonna be interesting to see what the volume has to offer! :)
Franky: 🤖🦾
this!!! This guy! Nobody talks about how little we know of him! It’s like Zoro, we only know what he’s good at! We only know he likes to build! But we don’t know any habits or hobbies he could’ve tried to pick up that didn’t stick, we didn’t see him evolve and grow! Franky and Robin are in their 30s! We don’t even know what they were like in their 20s! Especially not franky!! I’m really pumped to see what he’ll be like from the flashback up til when he meets Luffy, a weirdo that’s for sure. It’d be fun to see the franky family funny moments too!
Brook: ☠️🏴☠️
Dude. No one talks about the fact that his flashback started when he was already an adult!! The only reason we know what he looks like as a child is because Oda drew it! Obviously he was playing music back then as well, but all the strawhats ambitions started when they were a kid! That’s not enough info! We don’t know his parents, hometown, anything! We don’t even know why he loves music! I mean we do, but not really we’re it stems from directly, was his parents out of the picture? Were they there but didn’t care so music was all he had? Were they struggling financially? Did he raise himself? What?!
Nami: 🍊🧡
again! All we know is her dream, not her personally! The most we know is why she loves money! And that was shown in the flashback! We also know she wasn’t financially stable, but what about the day to day life? Did the tangerine sales pick up in the summer? Why weren’t they selling good? Couldn’t they have gone to all the neighboring towns to sell them? How did Bellmere break the news that they weren’t a biological family when Nami was of age? Did she always figure and it was an unspoken thing? Or did Nami cry when she found out? We don’t know!
Sanji: 🧑🍳🥘
ngl he would be higher on the list if I watch whole cake but I’m only on Zou 😁 anyway, the article I read to find out the series was coming out mentioned the fact that we don’t know exactly when and how Zeff met, which is a good point!! I’m interested in how that went down too! It pretty much just slipped over that during the flashback, did Sanji escape? Did Zeff take him in welcoming or did Sanji have to fight to get in? Did Zeff help break in out? Now keep in mind I haven’t watch Whole cake so if these questions have been answered I don’t know yet. Anyway that’s my take on it, but one more thing. I feel we’ll get a deeper sense of why Sanji loves to cook. And if there’s anything else he likes besides that!
Chopper: 🦌
I wanna see his day to day life! And also funny moments bc IK they’re there. Also to see him study more! Honestly just more background for this little cutie is all I want. Maybe he should be lower on this list….idk? I really wanna see his tho..
Usopp: 🤥
he’s also lower bc i feel they did a good job showing us enough of Usopp’s background. They got the point across real well, but I would like to see more Usopp pirate crew adventures tho!
Luffy: 🧑🌾
Lol the emoji is supposed to be a strawhat. Anyway I LOVE Luffy which makes it odd that he’s so low on this list, but he gets lots of screen time, I feel he also got the longest and most detailed backstory. They did a real good job covering most things, I’d honestly just want to see more adventures and they years between 14-17 bc they timeskiped it lol. Itd be fun to see teen Luffy and Ace interact more, since they’re not little kids anymore. Like arguments about who’s gonna be taller, hobbies they might’ve picked up, talking about what they’re gonna name they pirate crews, sneaking into Goa kingdom together and going through another man’s trash to find they’re own treasure. So I guess I might wanna see his more than I thought! Anywho!

Ghost Ship | Straw Hats x Reader
★ requested by @supernatural-hunter1 (see here)
Summary: There’s no need to fear Davy Jones and his ship of ghosts. After all, it’s just a myth… or is it? Tags: sfw, platonic straw hats x reader, GN!reader, no use of y/n
Disclaimer: There are many myths and legends about Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman, but the one here is my reimagined version, borrowing elements from One Piece’s Flying Dutchman lore (Fishman Island Arc, ch. 606) and some from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
It was a festive night onboard the Thousand Sunny.
Earlier, the Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates had begged the cook to prepare a feast tonight, without any reasons whatsoever. The cook was hesitant at first, as he was not one to use excessive ingredients when unnecessary, but with the last of the fresh supplies they got at Water 7 on the brink of losing their quality, Sanji had relented and cooked up an extravagant banquet for the crew.
Not wanting to waste a beautiful moonlit night, the Straw Hats set up picnic blankets on the Sunny’s lawn deck to enjoy their dinner. Franky had busted out his ukulele, playing a cheery tune that transformed the quiet night into a lively one. A portable metal fire pit sat in the center of the lawn, the flames providing light and warmth as the crew partied the night away.
It was not uncommon for this particular crew that a night of drinking would evolve into a night of daring each other to do stupid things. Luffy’s face was currently caked with Nami’s makeup, Zoro and Sanji were reluctantly interlocking hands as per Robin’s dare, and Chopper had one of Franky’s (clean) underwear strung between his antlers. The dares were getting more and more ridiculous as the game went on, to the point where Usopp had just challenged you to skinny-dip off the side of the ship. One glance over the railing at the dark, cold, and uninviting waters had you sitting back down on the deck.
“Yeah, right,” You scoffed and downed a shot in lieu of doing the dare, “That’d get me sent straight to Davy Jones’ locker!”
“Whose what now?” Usopp asked with his head tilted in confusion, the phrase unfamiliar to his ears.
It was such a common saying in the South Blue, where you were from, that you just blurted it out unthinkingly. There were no Southern seafarers who didn’t know about the mythical pirate Davy Jones and his ship full of ghosts.
“The Davy Jones’ locker.” You repeated matter-of-factly. Surprisingly, none of your crewmates seemed to show even a hint of recognition. You eyed them one by one, but all of them sported similar blank looks, “Oh c’mon, Davy Jones? The Flying Dutchman? Ring a bell?”
“Robin, you must know it.” You turned to the archaeologist, certain that she must have read about the legend before in one of her books, but she merely shook her head.
“No way,” you looked at your crew in disbelief, “And you call yourselves pirates?”
“Hey!” Luffy protested indignantly, “What’s a flying locker got to do with being a pirate?”
“Huh,” you shrugged, “Guess the story’s only popular in South Blue then.”
“Ooh, a story?” Chopper leaned forward toward you in anticipation, “I wanna hear it!”
“Alright then, listen up.” You looked at your friends with a sly smile, “But beware, this tale is not for the fainthearted.”
You started the story, lowering your voice in a mediocre attempt to sound spooky, “Hundreds and hundreds of years ago, a pirate crew was sailing on troubled waters when its captain – by the name of Davy Jones – suddenly fell ill and lost his mind. He killed his whole crew, chucking them off the ship one by one into the angry sea.”
Robin’s eyes sparkled with intrigue, while Zoro looked unbothered, but was listening intently nonetheless. Luffy was munching on some meat, only half paying attention. Franky had put down his ukulele, and Sanji took a long drag of his cigarette, eyes never straying away from you. Usopp, Nami, and Chopper had started to huddle together, never ones to enjoy scary stories.
“When he came to, Davy Jones realized what terrible deed he had done and blamed the gods for his madness, throwing curses at the rulers of the seas and the skies.”
The silence that now shrouded the chilly night only added to the tense atmosphere, broken just by the low whistle of the winds against the sails and the faint crash of the waves against the hull. No one dared breathe a word to interrupt as you continued your tale.
“The gods were furious and punished Davy Jones to roam the seas for eternity aboard his ship, the Flying Dutchman, doomed to ferry the souls of those lost to the sea to the world beyond, far deep through the oceanic abyss, which sailors came to know as the Davy Jones’ locker.”
Unbeknownst to the crew, a shroud of unnatural mist has started to surround the ship. Its tendrils snaked through the gaps and crevices, slowly infiltrating the deck.
“They say the Flying Dutchman still roams the seas to this day, never able to make port.” You paused for dramatic effect, “People say, that if you’re unlucky enough to encounter it, you could hear the lost souls onboard the ghost ship sing; Dead men tell no tales, dead men have no desires. Dead men don’t need jewels on their–”
“ENOUGH!!” Usopp yelled, covering his ears, “That’s enough, I don’t want to hear it anymore!”
By this point, the fog had gotten so thick that it was impossible not to notice. The crew was suddenly overcome with a sense of dread, goosebumps creeping on their skin.
“Wh-what is this mist?!” Nami shrieked, “What’s happening?! I don’t like this!”
Zoro and Sanji stood up, whipping their heads around in search of enemies or threats, but nothing emerged from within the murk. Nami and Usopp were now clinging to each other, screaming their heads off when suddenly, Chopper pointed at something in the distance and squealed, “Wh-wh-what’s that?!”
A silhouette of an old, rickety vessel materialized from beyond the mist, sailing head-on toward the Thousand Sunny. Its tattered sails swayed in the winds, a faded glow cloaking its body.
Screams of panic filled the air as Usopp, Nami, and Chopper ran around in terror.
“That’s it, I’m going inside! You guys deal with that!” Nami exclaimed, rushing towards the safety of the sleeping quarters.
“Oi, Nami, wait for me!” Usopp ran after her, Chopper closely following behind, “Can I sleep in the girls’ room tonight?!”
“Nah, man.” Zoro shook his head, “Give me monsters or devils, and I’ll fight them. But, I don’t fuck with things I can’t cut with my swords.” He said before hightailing it to the boys’ quarters.
Sanji stammered that he was “definitely not scared of ghosts, unlike the cowardly mosshead” but claimed that he wanted to make some midnight snacks and speed-walked to the kitchen. The mere mention of a midnight snack had Luffy following Sanji like a puppy, all thoughts of ghosts or whatever vanishing from his mind, and so he too, was gone.
With most of the Straw Hats cowering inside, the deck was once again plunged into a thick silence as the mysterious ship crept closer and closer.
A sudden slow clap permeated the stillness.
You looked behind you to see Robin smiling knowingly, “Incredible.” She chuckled, addressing you and the only other remaining Straw Hat on deck, “How did you two do it?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Robin.” You deflected unconvincingly, trying to hold back a smile.
“Yeah, Robin, what do you mean?” Franky added with a cheeky grin, “That’s totally a real ghost ship comin’ right at us.”
“Alright, keep your secrets.” Robin said with a laugh, “I’m going to bed. Make sure you clean up nicely, hm?”
Once Robin was out of sight, Franky offered his big metal hand to you, and you slapped it in an enthusiastic high-five. The two of you broke out in laughter, ecstatic at the success – for the most part – of your harmless but elaborate prank.
“Ah, that was a good one.” He sighed, wiping a stray tear from his eye, “Did you see their faces?”
You grinned at him, “I thought we fooled everyone, but Robin’s a tough one, isn’t she?”
“She’s super smart,” Franky laughed, “I knew from the beginning that she wouldn’t buy it.”
He took out a remote from his shirt pocket and pushed the big red button on it. Instantly, the mirage of the ghost ship disappeared as the light projector hidden inside the lion figurehead’s mouth was deactivated. The smoke machines mounted through the side portholes also died down, and the thick fog surrounding the ship gradually dissipated.
Since no one was around anymore, you and Franky took up the job of cleaning up the lawn, considering it as a way to make up for the fright you gave the rest of the crew. You stacked the dirty plates, gathered all the empty booze bottles, and folded up the blankets. The big, yellow moon provided ample brightness even as Franky killed the fire.
“Franky,” You called out as you noticed something in the horizon, “I thought you shut off the machine.”
“Yeah, I did.” The cyborg replied without even looking at you, still focused on cleaning the fire pit.
A chill of uneasiness ran through you at his answer, “Then… what’s that?”
Franky looked up at your shaky voice and turned to the front of the ship, eyes bulging in shock at what met his sight.
A curtain of thick, black fog coated the ocean and sky ahead, swallowing the stars from the sky and plunging the waters into total darkness, where no moonlight reached it.
And the Sunny was sailing right at it.
You and Franky could only stare at the unfathomable phenomenon as you stood frozen side-by-side.
“Oh, we are super fucked, aren’t we?”
a/n: bonus points if you got what the thick fog at the end was supposed to be! anyway, i had so much fun writing this!! it might be a bit early for a halloween post but i hope you all enjoyed this silly little fic nonetheless 🧡

cw: fluff. alcohol.
You’re starting to think Nami must have known something you didn’t, when she whispered a couple weeks ago that Zoro didn’t drink around people he had found attractive into your ear out of the blue, swiveling in her barstool once before sauntering off, leaving you with that information to do what you will.
Confused, you turned back to Robin and she smiled, knowingly, before she went back to enthusing you about a classic novel you’d both read as children. You remembered the smile, the apples of your cheeks warming slightly, most likely from the cider you’d taken hardy sips from without a sufficient snack (clearly not for any other reason at all), and went back to discussing the plight of your favorite side character.
But by the end of the night, a furtive glance over your shoulder located him at the opposite end of the pub, focusing on keeping up with the men in the corner.
The longer you look, the more you realize he’s trying to not look in your direction.
Or perhaps you’re simply imagining it.
—
Perhaps you weren’t.
Two weeks later, you decide to test out this theory, shifting from your usual commiseration with the crew’s women and unwittingly Sanji to sidle up close to Zoro, who is four drinks in and the type of stoic that comes with a man trying very hard not to reveal that he’s at least a bit tipsy. He’s near the dart board, having ignored Franky’s demands to play pool despite Franky having destroyed at least two pool tables between grazing them with his cyborg forearms and leaning too hard on the table, instead opting to challenge a few of the bar’s regulars.
Playing darts while drunk is probably a dangerous affair, but it will probably take more than that to kill anyone in the immediate vicinity.
Tapping his elbow gently to get his attention is possibly one move too far.
“Hey, you won’t hit anything that way,” you joke, adjusting his aim ever so slightly with a careful maneuver.
Zoro freezes for a moment at your touch, a soft pink suddenly painted over his facial features. For a moment you worry you’ve embarrassed him, until he slowly clears his throat.
“Move around me to my other side,” he says.
Surprised, but figuring he just wants you to be careful, you do so, and to your surprise, his hand slips around your waist gently, pulling you close before he throws the dart.
Taken aback, your heart skips a beat.
“Bullseye,” he says under his breath, leaning into you. He hasn’t let go,in fact turns you towards him so that your noses are inches apart, and his voice is lower, smooth like the top shelf liquor he’s too unrefined to drink.
Your heart catches back the beat, and doubles its pace.
Zoro’s eyes are heavy lidded and immediately desire-filled, and he is so far from his usual self it actually startles you. Turning your gaze quickly to confirm the dart landed in the place where he says, you turn away from him but he resists for a split second, not enough to truly impede your motion but enough to communicate he liked holding you.
“Yeah, that seems about right,” you say, lamely, flustered. He trails behind you a couple paces, coming to a stop when he places his hands on your shoulders.
Again, too close.
“You don’t trust me?” he asks again. He chuckles slowly under his breath and you turn quickly to look him in the eye.
“Are you making fun of me?” is your first go-to response, hostile to overcompensate for your jarred response to his sudden affection.
He raises both hands in front of him in the guise of defeat.
“Would never,” he says, the stupid smile on his face an unnatural replacement for his usual scowl.
You open your mouth to say something else, unsure of what’s going on, when he pulls you into his chest suddenly, and you shriek; a dart whirs past you just behind your head.
“Sorry!” Luffy yells from a distance.
You would yell back for him to be careful, but your heart is pounding again. Zoro looks up at Luffy, and you expect him to revert back to his normal self and yell, but instead he gives him a disapproving look, then looks back at you.
“You okay?”
He’s still looking at you like that again, like he both wants to keep you in his pocket but also may decide at some point to devour you, still deciding on which one.
Nami is right.
Zoro doesn’t drink around people he finds attractive, and for good reason.

⛥゚・。 kunoichi
synopsis: the story of how you met the strawhat crew (and your swordsman)
cw: lots of fluff, comfort, angst if you squint, slightest hint of simp zoro, you're a bad-ass, luffy saves you.
a/n: reposted from another account

'I can't believe I let this happen... I'm such an idiot...'
You knew the creak of a disembarking ship all too well, which only told you that the Strawhats were back way before the estimated time.
'S'what I get for trusting Kovu with gathering intel...'
With a sigh, you placed the rolled up poneglyph prints in their respective tubes and tied them to your back, silently ducking into the shadows when you heard footsteps outside the door.
You were currently aboard the Thousand Sunny, the flagship of the Strawhats, trying to steal their poneglyph prints for your boss.
It was a simple job, too. They were docked at some random island for supplies, and the reindeer who was left behind to watch the ship had fallen asleep.
No one would suspect a thing.
You should've been back on land by now, handing over the prints and finally breaking free from his abusive reign.
This job was your ticket to freedom.
Yet Kovu just had to fuck shit up.
'I can't stay holed up in this room forever. They'll get too far from land.'
With a huff, you slowly opened the door, happy to sense that no one was around.
'I need to find a way to get to the back of the ship. I can jump from there, and probably swim back.'
Quietly, you ran toward the stairs, happy you went barefoot for this mission instead of using your getas.
There was no possible way to get back there without being seen, so the least you could do was be fast about it.
You were up the stairs in the blink of an eye, and now sprinting straight for the gigantic, cannon-looking thing attached to the back of the boat.
'Almost home free...'
For the first time in years, you smiled, freedom just in reach.
Until it wasn't.
"YOHOHOHO! Um, guys! There's a lovely lady trying to sneak off the ship!" a skeleton man shrieked, landing in front of you and blocking your easy exit, drawing a sword from his cane. "AHHHH! SHE HAS THE PONEGYLPHS!"
Soul King Brook
'Dammit! Time to try the front!'
You back flipped, twisting yourself in the air so you landed the oposite way, allowing you to book it in the other direction.
"You can't be serious!" a redheaded woman exclaimed, running up the steps and to the back deck with a small orange and white staff in hand.
Cat Burgler Nami.
She ran at you, the staff extending into something much larger.
She swung, aiming for your head, but you dropped into a split just in time, using your extended leg to sweep her feet and knock her on her ass.
You grabbed her staff as he was distracted, squeezing it by accident. Out of nowhere, it extended impossibly long, shooting you into the air.
'Luck may be on my side today.'
You smirked as you flew up the side of the mast, getting about halfway up before planting your feet on it, running up the rest.
You managed to get to the yard, perching yourself so you could look for another form of escape, when you sensed something.
Nico Robin.
You jumped off the yard, grabbing onto it like a monkey bar just as four pale arms sprouted from the wood, attempting to grab you.
"Whoa! That's so cool!" a giddy voice exclaimed from below.
Your gaze quickly shifted to the deck below, only to see that trademark hat, and the notorious man that it rested on.
'Strawhat!'
You could sense another attack coming your way so you swung yourself as if you were on uneven bars and let go, flying into the air.
"Is she nuts?! She's gonna kill herself from that height!" a large man with weirdly shaped blue hair exclaimed from below.
Cyborg Franky.
The swing was too short.
You wouldn't go overboard.
'Curse these heavy cuffs!'
One silver cuff was attached to each of your ankles, their being there out of your control.
Noticing you were getting dangerously close to the ground, you imbued your legs with some haki and landed safely, creating a small crater on the grassy deck.
As the dust settled, you realized you were surrounded by Strawhat, the Pirate Hunter, and Blackfoot.
'Shit.'
"GAHHHH! SHE'S SO GORGEOUS! LOOK AT HER SHORT KIMONO!" Sanji squealed as his eyes turned into hearts, blood shooting from his nose.
Despite the blonde man's... awkward display, you sensed another pair of eyes on you, so much so that it practically burned.
The Pirate Hunter?
The second you turned to him, your heart caught in your throat.
You had seen his face on his wanted poster a few times before, and you'd be stupid to deny that he wasn't a handsome man, but looking at him in the flesh...
The pictures didn't even begin to do him justice.
And before you realized, the two of you locked eyes, and in an instant, it felt as if your legs turned to jelly.
A warm, fluttery feeling spread throughout your stomach, and it felt as if everything else in the world had stopped.
'What is feeling? Have I been poisoned?'
Just going off his glare, you could already tell that most cowered under his gaze.
So why were you reacting this way?
Shaking your head, you snapped yourself out of it, focusing on the task at hand.
'No time to gawk... back to work.'
"You... what are you doing on my ship? And why are you stealing Robin's ponegylphs?" Strawhat asked seriously, his face quite the contrast from his giddy expression before.
You sighed.
There was no way you could lie out of this mess.
"I am a kunoichi of the Iguro clan. And I have been ordered to steal your ponegylph prints," you stated, tone firm.
"Any idea why?" Nami asked, her and the rest of the crew walking over.
"None. I am left completely in the dark," you shook your head.
Your expression quickly turned determined.
"But I do know that this final job is my one way ticket out of hell, so peacefully or not, I'm leaving."
You lowered yourself into an offensive stance, glaring at Strawhat as his lips grew a smirk.
He cracked his knuckles, "Alright, then."
"Luffy, you better not hurt her!" Sanji fumed from the sidelines.
Using your haki, you peered into the near future to see him punch you with an extended arm.
'Can't have that.'
"Gum Gum Pistol!"
You tilted to the side, avoiding his hit with ease.
The entire group gasped, save for Zoro.
Strawhat's grin grew even larger, if that was possible, and he wound up both arms.
'A barrage of fists.'
"Gum Gum Gatling!"
The attack came quickly, but you dodged just like the first, flipping, lunging, and performing splits to dodge.
Imbuing your arms with haki, you grabbed one of his arms, harshly pulling him toward you.
And like a bungee cord, he came, and you slammed a flattened hand into the pressure point on his neck, knocking him out.
"Luffy!" the crew exclaimed.
Without hesitation, Zoro drew two of his swords and broke into a sprint, so you dropped his captain and drew your own katana, meeting his two with a sharp clash.
He smirked, which made that fluttery feeling return to your stomach.
"I see you use Ittoryu," he remarked with a slight rumble.
You smirked right back.
"I'm knowledgeable in the style, yes."
The both of you pushed off, returning to your stances before running at each other again.
Swords flew through the air as the both of you met the other's attack perfectly.
You lunged into an attack, but he blocked it yet again, so you hooked your outstretched foot on his ankle, deepening your lunge to pull him down.
He grunted, doing everything he could to keep his stance planted and balanced; so, you imbued your foot with haki, and he did the same for his.
He seemed almost surprised by the fact that you were still pushing your sword against his—despite your compromising position—openly demonstrating your strength, and proving it was comparable to his.
No even Tashigi could do that.
And not only was he impressed by the woman in front of him, but in silent awe.
Sure, your beauty was what caught his attention first—he was a man, after all.
Smooth, chestnut skin...
Plump lips...
Beautiful hip dips and curves...
Sparkling, (e/c) eyes, which looked as if they held stars in your gaze...
But now that he saw your fighting prowess, and raw strength along with it...
Well, you could say you had him hook, line, and sinker.
Still, you kept strong, holding your sword firm in its place as the Pirate Hunter continued to push down.
That is... until the pain equivalent to a thousand lightning bolts stemmed from your ankles.
'No! Not now!'
As you let out a cry of pain, Zoro quickly pulled away his swords, moving before the electricity could be conducted to him.
You dropped your katana, falling over as you held yourself in agony, muffling your shouts of pain on your forearm.
"What's wrong? What did you do to her, moss for brains?!" Sanji asked, yelling at the green-hared swordsman.
"I didn't do anything to her!" Zoro fired back, glaring at the cook.
He didn't know why, but seeing you in so much pain made him hurt.
It was a sharp, pulling feeling, as if his heart was on a string connected to you.
"The shocks seem to be coming from her ankles," Robin pointed out, everyone's attention turning to the cuffs that adorned your feet.
"How do we git it off her? 'Cause that looks super painful," Franky asked, grimacing at the sight of you writhing in pain.
It was then that Strawhat got back up from the ground, looking at you with a blank face.
"Oi, (y/n)? Can you hear me?" your bossed asked, his voice coming from the cuffs.
"Shit," you cursed, weakly trying to get up.
"I'll take that as a yes," you could practically hear his smirk from the other side. "Lemme cut to the chase... you failed your mission, plain and simple. So, you know the consequences."
"No!" you let out a choking gasp, trying to speak through the pain. "I've... I've worked with you for ten years! My debt is paid! We had an agreement!"
"You stupid girl!" he cackled. "I was never going to honor our agreement! You're too good of an asset to pass up! You will work under me for the rest of your pathetic, little life!"
The ship went dead silent, the Strawhat crew looking at you sorrily as tears poured down your cheeks.
Ten years of your life... gone.
All because you believed in the word of a pirate.
He was right... you really were stupid.
Painfully, you turned to Strawhat, who looked over the situation intently.
That's when you got an idea, and settled on it instantly.
Down on your hands and knees, you bowed your head to the captain, the rest of the crew letting out quiet gasps.
"Strawhat, I... hnnggh... I apologize for knocking you out earlier and... un-understand that I am in no place to ask you for such a favor but..."
You lowered your head to the ground, accepting that you would have to die in a state of embarrassment and weakness.
"Please kill me."
If you thought the crew was shocked before, they were flabbergasted now.
Even Zoro.
"I've wasted the last ten years of my life with that monster. And now that there's no end in sight, I do not wish to live."
Strawhat kept the same neutral face as he slowly approached.
You took a deep breath, smiling as you realized your suffering would soon be over, and the bliss of nothingness would welcome you.
But it never came.
Strawhat instead walked past you, silently, and you understood.
'I should've known...'
Such a favor couldn't be done for someone who just stole from him.
Suddenly, you felt the weight release form your ankles, and the shocks stop.
Your eyes shot wide as you lifted your head, snapping around to see that Strawhat had broken the cuffs off for you.
"Hey, guy!" he shouted, leaning down to the broken pieces. "I don't know if you can hear me anymore, but know that (y/n) is under my protection! And she won't be paying back your stupid debt anymore!"
You breath was trapped in your chest, unable to comprehend the words coming out of his mouth.
In one motion, a man you had just met—a man that you tried to steal from—had set you free.
After ten years of hellish torture, you were finally free.
But you still tried to compose yourself, sniffling as he turned back around to face you.
"Why didn't you kill me?" you quietly asked, looking away from the man.
His smile grew into a full on grin, "All you needed was a little help. There was no reason to kill you."
Your eyes went wide.
There was no way.
This had to be a trick.
"Next time just ask."
Your ears perked at that part.
"Next time?" you asked.
"Oh, yeah! I meant to ask," he cheesed. "Do ya wanna join my crew? It'd be so cool if we had a kunoichi!"
You were shocked to say the least, looking over the rest of the crew's faces to see that they were smiling as well.
Never before had you been met with such kindness.
They weren't even getting anything in return.
You sniffled, clearing your throat.
"I would like that," you smiled, looking down at the ground.
As he cheered, and ordered Black Leg to cook a banquet in celebration, you wiped a stray tear from your cheek, looking up at the clear, blue sky.
Strawhat Luffy would never know the bounds of your thanks.
You could never repay him.
