"Rex...?" Max gently placed a hand on the spy's shoulder. "People haven't been... bugging you too much about your parents have they?" There was a concerned but defensive tone to the emperor's voice. "I mean, I know we sort of compared parents and talked about some, and I know you don't always like to talk about it but..." He wrapped his arms around the spy's shoulders affectionately, "We can always talk more about it if you want." - @maximus-arcus-inimicus

Rex’s aviators weren’t good at hiding the feeling in his eyes and he kept his head turned away from Max when he heard his name and felt one of the emperor’s hands on his shoulder. He flinched a little when he heard his concerned voice mention the exact thing that was troubling him. He didn’t trust a lot of people and he only went more back into his shell when strangers appeared to prod him for personal information.

His face was set in a slightly annoyed expression, mouth set in a thin line. Internally, he was full of emotion - he’d just learnt to more or less suppress it over time. But he nonetheless looked sideways at Max, softening a bit at the man’s words. They had spoken before about their parents, sharing different kinds of grief and emotion and though he had been open with Max, he was still closed off a lot of the time. Especially when random people were so keen on prying into his life.

He knew he didn’t, and he gently smiled at Max as the man put his arms around his shoulders to see if he wanted to talk about it and just...as much as he didn’t want to...

He turned back around, feeling something in his eyes and he blinked. The idea of crying felt foreign to him and he wasn’t about to get more acquainted with it. “I suppose so...” he trailed off, sighing, “I know I get easily closed off concerning...everything. I’d like to be more open about things but...”

He shrugged, feeling vague. “...y’know. I guess I could start off by saying that...well, I wonder how much of them motivated me to be who I am.” He sounded almost mournful. “It’s easy to be reserved as a secret agent when you’ve learnt to hide secrets from a young age. These current questions just push me further back into my shell; not that I’d want many people to know these things, for, well...reasons.”

sadly though a lot of fanart is lost, i know a JP artist deleted all their LCU art, a mario artist deleted their LCU anni piece, an artist that posted a little had some LCU pieces that are also lost to time.... it sucks but yeah. at least theres still a good bit out there! have fun :^]c
