i have to say its a strange experience taking classes on branding and marketing while being vehemently anticapitalist and scorning the economic system

#i shit you not ill be in class and theyre talking abt how to make brands memorable and use words to describe their tone and feel #and at the same time i see starbucks endorsing genocide and greedflation and AI techbros scheming us into extinction #its extremely fucking dystopian. and its even worse when u have teachers telling u to use chatGPT and midjourney for #placeholder text and images. like damn. this is really the industry im going into huh #i feel complicit doing this because i want to pursue graphic design but its chilling to see ppl get really worked up abt branding #do u not feel used?? doesnt it feel like youre giving a faceless entity a mask to gloss over the ugly parts?? cuz i do #i get excited at the design and UX aspect of things like how people think and how design and user interfaces are planned around how #we think and act. but when the endgoal becomes marketing or doing it for companies it just feels like a waste #like i think this is what bill watterson meant when he didnt want calvin and hobbes to be commercialized #i dont want to do anything else unless it comes to that like i change my career path somewhere down the line. but fuck dude #im just gonna keep using unsplash and lorem ipsum as much as i can because i sure as hell dont wanna add to the problem if i cant solve it #yapping #vent

after the Mass Ascension, he's cursed by all those devices randomly going off all over him. fun fact! "Walk Like a Man" by Frankie Valli is in the Eo playlist Specifically cuz it's the sort of music that often plays in this case. it's annoying, gives B headaches and he's just overall tired. doesn't help that he usually can' find the things

but anyway; before all that he still didn't normally listen to music by himself. he just doesn't see a point in it (as a person and also as a Gen 1- just like Moon, Boreas can't really understand feelings communicated by art forms. neither does Zephyr, Orion, Spore, Gem n so on)

but! Sparrows used to hang out with him for a few hours each time before she went to Zephyr to plan out repairs and resources/parts offered and made by Boreas. and well, after she married Euros and the whole Rot situation passed, she was able to just kick back and chill with Boreas like with proper family member. which means that she played him some of her music, since she's a music gal

despite his lack of ability to really understand it, he did secretly like these music hang outs Sparrows started and learned to quietly enthusastically await them. they had quite a few Talks™ during them (and eventually they resulted in Sparrows teaching him how to sing)

he ALSO has Euros for a brother (/son son sonny boy) so he didn't have much of choice but to listen to His music too. n then Haboob and Notos came by too and Euros was immediately like "oh i know what to do. girls girls girls!!! c'mon and let's harmonize. one and two one and two!" while on call with B and there it went. n then "Boreaaaaassss!!! BOREAS!!!!!!! come on, join us!!! we need a bass singer in here! your voice is deeper than the goddamn Void Sea get in here."

#so warm......#it invokes the feeling that its been there for 20 years #also seems like the kind of place a witch would run #theres a bunch of plants and cats and warm lighting #im trying to think if the cat witch was a cool side character how would i design her #since a lot of my side characters are cool as hell like murda and lady magg-lynn #it gives off the cozy vibes of broosters cafe #one(1) seating/reading area that consists of a little table and some chairs around it #that usually is taken up by coco/lime/oscar/taffy playing board games or something #some random girl with a crush on lime: heyy is it okay if i sit here and read for a bit?#lime: actually we dont allow reading the books in the store until after youve purchased them. im sure you understand #hes so indifferent and it works against him cuz a lot of girls are like (wow so cool....i want him more now...)#a tiny bookstore on the outter reaches of the downtown area. like before there is a house essentially attatched to the back where they live #oscar somehow affording a house with a storefront in the downtown area #( how did you afford this...)#(i work.)#mochi compensates him appropriately for letting her hijack his store #he doesnt mind though. he wasnt sure what kind of shop to run anyway #plus with magic mochi around he doesnt need to worry about utility bills or furniture or anything ever again so its a fair trade off #(rumor has it that shop has books on anything you could imagine)#someone walks in asking about 8th century pottery techniques from the eastern regions of the kingdom #(let me check the back!) she says and is back with the exact book 5 minutes later
