Brooklyn, New York. Winter 1942.

Street lamps flickered with a dim glow on the wet, cobblestone sidewalks, while the music of an old radio echoed distantly from some half-open window. Soldiers' boots, hurried heels, and the noise of the city were the sonorous background.

Steve was leaning against the red brick wall of the community center. An unlit cigarette hung from his lips, “ more from looking mature than from actually wanting to smoke,“ and his thin arms were folded tightly across his chest.

“Hiding out here again, Rogers?“ you said, reaching over with your hands in the pockets of your beige coat.

Steve looked up; his expression more weary than annoyed. I'd known you for years. And you always showed up at the most inopportune times...like some kind of stubborn angel.

“I'm not hiding," he grunted, kicking lightly at a pebble on the ground. I'm just... breathing fresh air.

“Aha, right. Fresh air with an "I want everyone to stay away from me" face," you teased, letting out a chuckle.

“I don't like that place. It's full of tall, loud guys who think everything revolves around them. They dance with everyone, laugh loudly, and... I just... don't fit in.

“And that bothers you?"

“Of course it bothers me!“ she replied, finally raising her voice, with a hint of childish frustration. "Don't you get sick of being ignored for not being what they 'expect'? Of being the one who is always the odd one out?-2

“Steve..."

“I don't want their sympathy," he mumbled. "Nor yours."

You sighed, and without another word, you reached over, took his“ hand—thin, warm, slightly trembling hand—and pulled him gently toward the entrance of the community center. Steve resisted for a second, but when he felt your gaze, he lowered his head and followed you.

Music filled the room, making the wooden floor vibrate. Couples twirled, laughed, and twirled in disorderly but happy steps.

“What are you doing?“ he asked with that mixture of nervousness and fear that only he knew how to combine.

“This.“ You came closer. Very close. “Shut up and dance with me.”

Charles' thing is that he wants to feel alive and that's part of the reason why he decided to never move on to the afterlife right? Meanwhile Edwin thinks Charles will move on and that he'll be alone again because 'he isn't good with people'.

But then when the Night Nurse shows up a second time Charles is ready to go wherever -including Hell- as long as Edwin shouldn't have to go back there, meanwhile Edwin refuses that they be split up, and both are okay with being sent together to the Lost and Found Department to be sorted out later as long as they're together-

I keep seeing fanarts of ppl's OC's being on the ship, so do you think that if there was 6st crewmember (specifically, another woman) Anya would've been more safe? Like, someone to actually call Jimmy's begaviour out, someone Anya might wanna trust? Is there a possibility something might have changed (even if a little) or it would not have mattered at all?

I feel like the game would make it part of the commentary on where she would believe and help Anya but still be sort of dismissive? Like the whole “don’t waste time crying and being scared keep going and move on, don’t let him win”. It’s supposed to be positive and reinforcing but sometimes it does more damage in those times of mourning and grief, it feels patronizing, like you don’t understand what you’re going through but they do. Even if they did call out his behavior it’s still on Curly to act and while another voice would help, it’s still 4 against 2 on guys that don’t get it until they have to vs women who always have to.

I don’t mind mouthwashing OCs but I do get a bit bored as they tend to be borderline saviors or like Jimmy aligned. They are either more complicit than Curly or just Jimmy haters for no reason, outside of what the creators know about what he did to Anya. I am never irked by OCs but in a story like mouthwashing you really need to think about what your character adds to the commentary, especially if they are there during the crash. It’s nice to have like characters on Anya’s side more whole heartedly and interesting to see characters who placate Jimmy but sometimes it’s one note.

I can’t and don’t want to police peoples OCs it’s never my intention when I comment on trends I notice, but I do feel like the way people make their OCs interact with these two characters and especially Curly, really show a grave misunderstanding of the narrative and these characters as people vs roles in the story. Still, I know people just make up characters for fun and that’s fine. Great even, but I guys I’m focusing more on OCs that are supposed to have those serious dynamics. My favs tend to be pretty-Tulpar or post-Tulpar au OCs.

The inevitably of the crash is on Jimmy. He did that not because he wasn’t stopped but because all his means to kill Anya were taken. The gun, the axe. Even if Curly did strip him of his co-pilot privileges and try to keep him contained there’s only so many people. An extra body helps but they have jobs they have to do, he’s the only one steering the whole ship and Jimmy would likely have an out: food, bathroom, etc. He’s not new and if he couldn’t crash the ship directly, who’s to say he wouldn’t sabotage something else? A clunker like the Tulpar wouldn’t take much. An extra person helps but it’s just another thing that prolongs what a person like Jimmy is willing to do to shirk responsibility.

It’s more than just needing someone to stand up to him and think that’s what is missing when it comes to inserting a character into the mouthwashing setting.

because 'love' meant his mother's devotion to a man who wasn't worthy; because love doesn't discriminate (and sometimes that's a terrible thing).

because 'love' meant being treated like a piece in his mother's bid to keep his father close. his existence and name a sacrificed from a women whose obsession reduced her children to living tokens of her desperation.

because 'love' meant that his mother kept a man in the house who was a drunk and prone to violence and verbal abuse.

because 'love' meant his sister being abandoned by the man she trusted, left to pick up the pieces of her heart while he tried to hold her life together.

because 'love' meant giving his father an added target his cruelty and new a way to enact power and control through fear.

every time he hears his name, tongrak's being told that he must love, but how could tongrak ever love when this was what love brings?

The statements “Larry Butz is much more interesting and important than fans give him credit for, especially at the end of AA1 as Phoenix and Miles’ childhood best friend & with his witness testimony saving Miles from a guilty verdict as well as at the end of AA3 where he is shown genuinely trying to improve himself as a person as Laurice Deauxnim” and “Larry Butz is hard for most people to stand because of his consistent weird moments in AA3 which, along with his constant failing-to-get-with-woman jokes throughout both games, can get annoying and borderline intolerable for some people” are not mutually exclusive.

I really am interested in Larry as a character but god it’s impossible for me to see him as anything other than comedic-relief-that-isn’t-comedic-nor-relieving, I really don’t feel bad when Phoenix is slightly rude towards him cuz I would act the same, if not worse

I used to think that jc was a complex character but years down the line i think he’s actually very simple. At least he’s not much more complex than other characters are, you can find just about the same amount of complexity from literally all the other character in the show. I probably used to think and say that cuz i felt like i had to justify liking him since everyone seems to hate him. But actually its weird a lot of people come out from the story and especially despise him so much. its the same about other character like jgy or xy, except they’re actually framed as evil, and even then they have more depth than that. I'm not saying im an expert in literary analysis but how is jc REALLY an ‘evil’ character. He’s barely a good antagonist. At best he has complex relationships esp with the protagonist… but is his character that much more complex?? Like him as a person?? I dont really think so anymore. Also how do you read da WHOLE book and come out absolutely despising him to the point you dedicate hate to him and ppl who like him (grow up)?? I know stories can resonate with us on individual levels and bring about intense feelings based on like our experiences and biases and stuff. But im also an adult and the way people behave online with certain characters (absolutely not exclusive to mdzs fandom… iwtv im lookin at u..) leaves me so confused. Please turn off your phone. Obligatory reminder to touch grass and let the sun warm up your skin.

Sanji: I wanted him to mainly be in the legs, while the shoulders and arms were closer together. Compact up top, Watermelon Crushers on the bottom. i vaguely designed him with the Marathon runner from the reference image in mind. I differ from the reference in that i give him upper body muscles cuz he loves his break dancing moves and you need hella muscles for that.

Zoro: Big tits & Tank Body. Cant knock this cat over.

Sabo: This man in my eyes is a Barbie Doll. Long Legs Tiny Torso. Winx Club Sailor Moon lookin mf. In part inspired by this panel of him:

Nami: My headcanon for Nami is that when we first meet her she is very skinny and malnourished, then overtime living with the strawhats she gains weight and progressively gets chubby. I just think that Sanji always cooking her such nutritious meals and tasty sweets, and not needing to fight for herself all the time, would lead to her lovely new body type. Something, something, 'to be loved is to be changed'.

Plus, her new fighting styles isnt like "im wacking you with this stick" anymore, its more "I'm moving this stick in this direction and striking you with the lighting coming from it". That still needs muscles though so i gave her some good muscles up top :3

Ace: He's the dorito man of the universe. Broad shoulders, itty bitty waist. I modeled him after the basketball player in the reference image Alton Huston. i think that he would focus his athleticism in Jumping and Throwing (literally) punches, so it leads me to think he would build the same muscles a basketball player would.

I just like the idea of a perfect body that has been twisted by its scars.

Luffy: Brick Shithouse. Healthy mix between muscle and fat. i just wanted to make him look Really Healthy.

The majority of this design is just giving these characters body fat. i dont like the way gangly abs and tits look i love a chub. PWEEESEEE ODA GIVE ME A CHUBBY WOMAN CHARACTER PWEEEEEEEEEESE IM BEGGING YOU PWEESE PWEEESESESESESESESESSSESESES

i had a lot of fun drawing these, i love love love drawing anatomy and this was a good learning experience on top of that. One of the ways i drag myself out of art block is i just do art studies so this is kinda that.
