Devin swore he was this close to putting his own dog in timeout.

Haven was supposed to be his girl. His best friend. The one creature in this world who was supposed to love him the most, no questions asked.

But apparently, all it took was you waltzing into his life for all of that to go straight out the window.

It started small. At first, Devin thought it was cute—the way Haven would get excited when she saw you, how she’d wag her tail a little harder when you walked through the door, how she’d trot over to you first before acknowledging him.

But then? Then it got worse.

Suddenly, Haven wasn’t just excited to see you—she was obsessed with you. If Devin and Haven were sitting on the couch and you so much as breathed in their direction, Haven would immediately get up, abandoning him without hesitation to curl up at your feet like a lovesick puppy.

If Devin called her name, she might look at him—might—but the second you called for her, she was sprinting like her life depended on it.

And don’t even get him started on bedtime.

Because Devin had spent years with that dog loyally sleeping at the foot of his bed, never once complaining about her designated spot. But now? Now she had options. And instead of curling up where she belonged, Haven had somehow finessed her way into sleeping on your side of the bed—pressed against you, her head resting dramatically across your legs like she was claiming you as her own.

It was treason, honestly.

And tonight? Tonight was the final straw.

Devin walked into the living room, fresh out of the shower, expecting to find Haven in her usual spot on the couch. But nope. Instead, there she was—lying belly up in your lap, eyes half-lidded in pure bliss as you scratched behind her ears like she was at a damn spa day.

And the worst part?

She sighed.

A deep, satisfied, content sigh that Devin was pretty sure she had never once let out for him.

He deadpanned.

“Oh, hell no.”

You barely held it together before bursting into laughter.

Devin stood there in the doorway, towel slung over his shoulder, staring at his traitor of a dog like she had just committed the ultimate act of betrayal. Haven, meanwhile, had the audacity to blink up at him lazily before closing her eyes again, settling deeper into your lap like she hadn’t just heard him.

“Oh my God,” you wheezed, covering your mouth as you tried (and failed) to stifle your laughter. “Are you actually jealous of your own dog right now?”

Devin’s brows pulled together, his jaw tightening. “No.”

But the way he said it? Defensive. Way too quick. Absolutely a lie.

That only made you laugh harder.

“She literally lives with you,” you said between giggles. “You’re with her all the time.”

“Yeah, and for years, she’s been my number one fan,” Devin shot back, pointing at Haven like she wasn’t even in the room. “Now? I’m chopped liver.”

You snorted. “Oh, baby, I hate to break it to you, but you’re not even top three in her rankings.”

His mouth dropped open, like you had personally wounded him. “Not even top three?!”

You shrugged dramatically. “Nope. It’s me, the guy at the pet store who gives her treats, then you.”

Haven let out another content sigh at that exact moment, nuzzling further into your lap, like she was agreeing.

Devin glared. “Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me.”

You were fully cackling now, tears forming in the corners of your eyes. “I swear, she loves you, Devin—she’s just got a special bond with me.”

He scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest, looking so betrayed. “I raised her. I feed her. I take her to the vet. And now she’s acting like I’m the outsider in my own damn house.”

You reached out, trying to grab his hand, but he yanked it away, still sulking.

“Oh, come on,” you giggled, tilting your head at him. “You’re adorable when you’re jealous.”

“I’m not jealous,” he grumbled, dropping onto the couch with a huff.

The second he sat down, Haven instantly lifted her head, staring at him for a moment before slowly… slowly… shifting in your lap until her front paws stretched onto him.

Like she felt bad.

Like she knew he was mad.

You bit your lip to keep from laughing again. “Ohhh, she’s trying to make it up to you.”

Devin narrowed his eyes at Haven, unimpressed. “Oh, now you remember I exist?”

She blinked at him. Then, in true drama queen fashion, she licked his arm once before resting her head back on your lap.

You lost it.

Devin groaned, rubbing a hand down his face. “I cannot believe this.”

“She apologized,” you teased, scratching Haven’s ears again. “You gonna forgive her?”

He sighed heavily, glancing down at his fake-apologetic dog, then up at you, his lips twitching like he was trying so hard to stay annoyed.

Finally, he muttered, “I want joint custody of you.”

You smirked. “Oh, babe. She owns me now.”

Devin groaned again, falling back against the couch, mumbling under his breath. But when you curled into his side—Haven still sprawled half across you—he let out another dramatic sigh, pulling you closer anyway.

And yeah, maybe he’d lost his number-one ranking in Haven’s heart.

But in your heart?

He’d always be first.

a/n: i went to this resturaunt called the hangout in gulf shores and it was just so fun and i got this idea from it!!! btw readers name will be scarlett

summary: scarlett and drew have been dating for about 2 years when them and the cast of obx all go out to dinner at this fun local resturaunt when drew surprises scarlett.

warnings: literally none this is the cutest thing everrrrr!!!

when the cast of obx gets seated at the busy resturaunt and orders their drinks, they all start chatting in their little groups.

"this place is so fun, look at those shark drinks!" carlacia points out the blue drinks with sharks in them, and they watch as man pours the red contents in the shark into his drink, "i am definitely getting that!" rudy says, making the whole group laugh.

a shorter tanned man makes his way to the front of the large, opened resturaunt and turns on his microphone. "hello folks! welcome to the hangout! i just wanted to take a minute before the fun starts to recognize anyone that has served our country, so please stand if you are a veteran or active member of the army."

a handful of people in the restaurant stand and everyone claps for them, the man continues with teachers, healthcare workers, police officers, and firefighters. "alllllllllll righty folks now let's get the fun started! if you know a fun man of the house point him out! boyfriends, husbands, dads! point em out folks!" i look over at drew and smirk, the other boys in the group shaking their heads, not wanting to do anything.

"all right, all right." drew says laughing as the whole group starts to point at him, getting the man with the microphone's attention. "how about you over there," he points at drew, "come on up here!" drew gets up and walks towards the man as he points out a couple of other men in the resturaunt.

once their are two other men up their with drew, the shorter guy starts again. "alright now that we have our three contestants, please say your names!" he goes down the line of the men, starting away from drew, when he gets to drew he has to look up at him and he laughs, "gosh you are tall, what's your name sir?" "drew." drew laughs, and our whole group laughs at the shorter man's words.

"now that we know our three contestants, let's get them started on the lip sync challengeeeeeeeeeee!" the whole resturants cheers for the three men. i turn my chair to face them better.

as the first two men go, one of them has to sing baby, by justing beiber, and the other sings party in the usa by miley cyrus. now it was drew's turn and he gets handed the mic.

the music stops for a second before it starts again, playing marry you by bruno mars. drew begins to sing for the crowd as they all laugh at his excitement.

"is it the look in your eyes? or is it this dancing juice?"

drew sings as he goes through the crowd, table to table.

"who cares baby? i think i wanna marry you."

drew starts to make his way towards our table as i uncontrollably smile at his excitement.

"cause it's a beautiful night,"

he comes closer to our table as i laugh at his goofiness.

"we're looking for something dumb to do."

he finally makes it to our table as he sets the mic on the table, going down onto one knee, making my heart almost stop.

"hey baby," he sings.

"i think i wanna marry you." he pulls out a gold ring has my breath gets stuck in my throat and my eyes swell up. the music slows and finally comes to stop as the resturaunt quiets, waiting for my response.

"yes!" i jump up and hug him tighter than i ever have as the whole resturant cheers and the song begins to play again. when we break away from the hug i pull him into a deep, romantic kiss. when i pull away i turn around and look at my friends.

"did u guys know about this?" i laugh. they all look at eachother, acting like they didnt know anything at all. "you assholes!" i laugh, sitting in my seat. "we didn't want to ruin the surprise!" chase laughs.

"everyone give it up for the bride and groom to be!" the shorter man says, making the whole crowd turn to us and cheer.

also, when i was in class earlier this morning i couldn’t stop daydreaming about becoming pregnant with matty as the father. like you two being in a very long term relationship and your finally pregnant after talking about it for so long. and matty is just so caring troughout it all and comforts you as much as he can 🫠 and then him holding the baby for the first time and both of you watching the baby take their first steps 🥹🥹 i am delusional - 🩸

PLEASEEEE THAT WOULD BE THE CUTEST THING EVERRRRR. He would get so emotional over ever little thing that the baby does. Like the kid would be babbling incoherent infant nonsense and Matty would be like “babe, did you hear that? He’s practically talking already!! At this age?? Knew my baby’s gonna be a genius.” And you’re like “Matty, I don’t think repeating the same noise over and over qualifies as speaking, honey, but I love your confidence in our child.”

And he would wake up for feedings/ diaper changes whenever he’s home. And during schedule changes when there’s not much sleeping going on, he’d pull out his guitar and try to serenade the baby to sleep or like carry them and pace back and forth in the room singing softly so as not to wake you in the other room. Matty’s gonna be the best dad one day ���
