How to Dress your Character
A Guide to Dress Codes
When attending an event, it's essential to understand the dress code—and know when to bend the rules.
White tie: White tie is a formal dress code typically reserved for galas and state dinners. For men, swap your black tie dinner jacket for a single-breasted tailcoat and a wing-collar white shirt with mother of pearl shirt studs. You'll also need a white bowtie and a white vest. If you want to go ultra-traditional, you can lace up your black patent leather shoes with black ribbon. For women, it's time to break out the floor-length ball gown and long gloves.
Black tie: Black tie is a formal dress code common for formal evening events. Traditional black tie for men entails a single- or double-breasted dinner jacket and matching trousers worn with a pleated white dress shirt with a turndown-collar. It's generally fine to veer slightly from the black tuxedo: More creative black tie options include midnight blue tuxedos and white dinner jackets. Finish the look with cufflinks, a black bow tie, a white pocket square, black patent leather shoes, and black dress socks. Cummerbunds (waist coverings) and vests are optional—just don't wear them together. The black tie dress code for women is a little more flexible: You'll want a knee-length to floor-length evening dress. Accessorize with heels or flat dress shoes, a clutch, and minimal jewelry.
Black tie optional: When an invitation says "black tie optional," the expectation is that you'll either wear black-tie attire or something similar but a little more relaxed—like a dark suit or elegant cocktail dress.
Cocktail attire: Cocktail attire, also known as semi-formal attire, is the style of clothing you'll wear to evening events like fundraisers and weddings. Cocktail dress code involves casual suits and dress shirts for men. Stick to wool suits in dark colors in winter; for summertime and outdoor cocktail events, you can wear a light-colored suit in a breathable material like seersucker or linen. Oxfords, loafers, and brogues are acceptable footwear choices. A cocktail dress is fancier than a sundress but more casual than an evening gown. When in doubt, go for the classic little black dress. Not wearing a dress? Go for a dark suit or dressy separates.
Business casual: Business casual doesn’t necessarily mean casual—what it actually means is that you don’t have to wear a suit and tie. Business casual workwear usually includes a collared shirt (button-up or polo shirt) or sweater on top, and dress pants, khakis, chinos, or a pencil skirt on the bottom. You may also wish to add a blazer or sport coat, but you don’t necessarily need a custom-tailored suit jacket. Shoes should be closed-toe and professional, whether you choose boots, heels, flats, loafers, mules, or oxfords.
Dressy casual: Dressy casual, also known as “smart casual,” is an upgraded version of casualwear, generally more suited to job interviews, client meetings, and casual nighttime events. For a dressy casual dress code, break out trendier pieces, like jumpsuits, blazers, and high-end footwear. Instead of T-shirts, opt for button-downs and blouses.
Casual: Casual attire is the least restrictive dress code, but this doesn’t mean you should dress quite as casually as you would at home. Jeans and T-shirts in solid colors are okay, but stay away from graphic tees, flip-flops, and anything ripped or stained. Depending on the season, you may want to wear full-coverage shorts or a casual sundress. Casual dress codes are typical for low-key and outdoor events.

SSKK^2 As Teens [Headcanons]
Outfits:
Acchan wears a lot of J-pop fashion - athletic wear. Open and easy to move in. The designs are simple, but with his brother’s help, he makes his clothes his own.
Ryuuchan paints little designs on his clothes - some of which are inside jokes that not even Atsushi and Aku know.
Acchan likes it when no one knows what his designs mean, and he flaunts his custom sweater/shirt around.
He wears crocs. Unironically. He likes he can kick them off whenever to climb anything he wants. Everyone hates them, but they can’t handle it when he tries to go find them.
If he can get away with it, he’d wear clashing patterns.
He’s destructive to pants in specific- he goes through them quite a bit. Atsushi can’t get him to stop.
Ryuu-chan is very simple. He likes self-expression and to look smart. He tends to wear layers, and Acchan encourages colorful jackets for Rashomon. He gets told he dresses too old for his age; to his reply is ‘yuh.’
He likes it when his outfit’s pallets match. He will test color theory on some outfits, but rather they’d just match them.
He likes it when his jacket is darker than his shirt.
Though he makes designs for Acchan, he doesn’t really like wearing graphic tee/sweaters.
~More Headcanons and Context ~
Haircuts:
Acchan watches a lot of TV - some of which are 80s TV. HE REALLY WANTED A MULLET. He kept telling everyone he was going to grow one, but Atsushi was insistent he didn’t. Aku stepped in to let him know that hair is important to a kid’s self esteem. Surrendering his rejection; Acchan is allowed to grow out his mullet. He doesn’t brush his hair, so he tends to look like he’s been electrocuted.
Ryuuchan grew his hair like Chuuya's [mostly to try it out]. Unlike his brother, he cares for his hair really well. He prefers to pull it back to keep it from getting in his mouth. His hair has never passed his shoulders, and he’s ok with that. [It grows too fast, so he gets major cuts periodically. It returns to the length after a few months.
Academics:
Acchan is either really good at school or fails hard. He has a natural understanding to patterns and repetition but if school requires critical thinking; he panics and answers like “fish” on a math test. If there is a formula to the school work - he will blossom. He’s also been asked to join sports groups because he is the fastest runner in his class. Atsushi encouraged it until Acchan played soccer and kicked the ball so hard with the tiger that he had to pull him from sports that required kicking or throwing. [Atsushi was mostly worried for other kids' safety]
Ryuu-chan is attached to creative classes, though he does really well in all his closes. He, however, gets stressed with the school starts to bring up university. He gets in his head and tends to over study and get exhausted on test day.
Personality:
Acchan is really sweet to everyone he comes across. He tends to come home late from school because he gets stopped to do a series of heavy labor requests for the neighbors. He’s also very hungry and asks for food for payment. He comes home with snacks everyday. He’s well spoken if he is interested in a particular subject but when him and his brother fights over hypotheticals - all intelligence leaves.
Ryuu-chan is pretty reserved - though not socially avoidant. He’s too polite [engrained bc of Atsushi] and tends to do everything everyone asks. Unlike his brother, Ryuu-chan gets asked to do complicated tasks. Old people also really like talking to him, and it often feels like they seek him out to talk to him. He tends to dip if his social battery gets too much.

Coffee and Classicals
Summary: Levi introduces you to what he calls “real literature.” You find his choices—and his commentary—unexpectedly amusing.
a/n: I’m winging it when it comes to literature—if something sounds off, pretend it’s a creative choice. Part One

Part two: This isn't Filth
The book café was now empty.
You watched the rude barista thank the last customer before flipping the sign—Closed. It was just you and him now.
He cleared the mugs quickly, wiping down the tables in one swift motion.
From behind your book, you peeked at him, at the way his shirt clung to his frame, the subtle flex of muscle as he swept the floors. His bangs kept falling into his eyes as he worked, focused and serious.
Whenever he glanced your way, you'd immediately drop your gaze and pretend to read, even though the words on the page had long since lost meaning.
You’d always noticed him. His constant scowl, the clipped replies. The way he made your coffee just right every single time. It was comforting after a long week of classes and studying.
But tonight? You were intrigued by his smartass energy. And this time, you were ready to match it.
Two books landed on your table with a quiet thud.
You looked up, startled, just in time to see him pull out the chair across from you and sit. He didn’t say anything at first—just watched you as you adjusted your glasses, the silence stretching in the dim café light.
You glanced down at the titles, fingers moving instinctively over the nearest spine. "Crime and Punishment," you murmured. The pages looked well-worn, the kind of book someone had actually read—maybe more than once.
His voice cut through the quiet.
“These are better than the filth you fill your brain with.”
You blinked, but didn’t rise to the bait. Not yet.
Instead, you reached for your cup, fingers circling its rim.
“It’s rude to make recommendations without a proper introduction,” you said softly, keeping your gaze on the swirling remnants of your drink. “I thought someone so well-read might’ve learned a thing or two about propriety.”
He didn’t answer right away. You could feel the tension in the way he exhaled—controlled, clenched. You didn’t need to look to know his jaw was tight.
You already knew his name. You’d seen it every day for weeks, printed neatly on the black tag pinned just over his heart.
But you wanted to hear it. From him
“Levi,” he said at last, the word escaping like it was being pried from his teeth.
You looked up at him, tilting your head.
“Levi?”
“Yes. Just Levi.”
A small smile curved at your lips—barely there, but enough.
You didn’t say anything more right away. You just looked at him, letting the weight of his name settle between you.
Just Levi.
You liked the sound of that.
You glance at the thick spine and the serious font. No abs on the cover.
That’s your first red flag.
“So, Just Levi, I’ve heard of this Fyodor guy,” you say, tilting the book slightly in your hand, “but this looks like something that would slowly kill me from the inside.”
Levi folds his arms, the fabric of his black tee tightening across his forearms as he leans in, eyes focused—sharp and still. Like he’s trying to see through you.
“Dostoevsky doesn’t care about your comfort. He drags you into the mind of a man who thinks he’s above morality, then strips him down to his rotting guilt. It’s ugly. Paranoid. Brilliant.”
He pauses. His gaze doesn’t waver. “And it’s Levi.”
You raise a brow. “Is there… kissing?” you ask, lips quirking. “I like Just Levi better.”
He exhales through his nose, unimpressed. “There’s a prostitute who tries to save his soul.”
“…So no kissing.”
He shrugs.
“Read it anyway. It’ll either change how you see people or confirm everything you already believe. Either way, it’ll do something.”
You pick up the second book. A Room with a View.
The cover is soft—sunlight, open fields, a kind of old-world stillness. It looks suspiciously gentle for someone like him.
Inside, on the first page, a name: Kuchel, written in looping cursive.
Your fingers traced it, slow and careful.
“What about this?”
“That one’s for when you’re tired of growling werewolves and six-pack CEOs,” he said dryly.
You narrowed your eyes. “It looks… pastel.”
“It’s about a woman choosing passion over propriety,” he replies, tone steady but not unfeeling. "She's set to marry the perfect man, safe, predictable, until someone shows her a different kind of love and it wrecks everything she thought she wanted."
You flipped a few pages, squinting at the prose. “So… like Pride and Prejudice, but without the good drama?”
“No,” he said. “It’s quieter. But it’s real. The kind of love that asks you to wake up instead of fall asleep smiling.”
You paused, considering. “Do they kiss?”
He sighed. “Yes, they kiss. But only once. And don’t expect the sloppy, disgusting trash in your books.”
You blinked. “Wow, a book where people talk about their feelings instead of just making out in broom closets. Revolutionary.”
“You’re missing the point,” he muttered, almost like it was a throwaway.
You check the time. 8:50 PM.
You slid your bag onto your shoulder, fingers curling around the strap. “I read to take my mind off numbers and equations.”
He stilled for a second, like the answer caught him off guard. Not in a bad way. Just… unexpectedly honest.
“You go to University of Paradis?” he asked.
You nodded. “Yeah.”
“What’s your major?”
You hesitated, like saying it out loud somehow gave it more weight. “Pure mathematics.”
It always sounded colder than it felt.
He watched you a second too long, like he was turning that over in his head.
“Figures.”
You raised an eyebrow. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He shrugged.
You smiled, a soft curve. “What about you?”
“Comparative literature.” Said like it didn’t matter. “I like stories that mess people up differently.”
Of course he did.
You turned toward the door, but his voice followed you—lower this time.
“You never said your name.”
You paused, then glanced back over your shoulder. “Y/N.”
There was something in the way he looked at you then. Something unreadable but not uninviting.
“I’ll see you next Sunday,” you said, trying not to sound too certain. “I’ll… think about your recommendations.”
You stepped out into the night air, the door clicking softly behind you.
And for a few steps, you told yourself you weren’t smiling.
Even though you were.

Oh, wait I think I misread the post. My apologizes, I thought that was in reference to those two clothing shop drama. Though I am willing to hear out the other indie clothing shops that you keep a eye on.
Alright! Easts' big post about indie clothing brands I like!
Worth noting that while I’ve been keeping my eye on a lot of these brands for a while now, there is a possibility there is some kind of discourse around them that I missed - if so please let me know so that I can look into it myself!
Mayakern!
I like Mayakern a lot because they cater a lot to plus size bodies! They have plus size models and Mayakern themselves is plus sized! Recently they’ve been expanding beyond skirts to things like dresses and shirts. This makes me very excited because not only are these shirts cute as heck, but some of them are even more standard/essential shirts but are made with bigger body types in mind. So often fat people have to just settle for good enough, but its clear that Mayakern makes her stuff so that anyone wearing it can be confident! There’s also ton of customer pics you can see to tell how clothing lays on various body types.
(Rest Under The Cut)
Umvvelt
Umvvelt focuses on fish/ocean themes and I absolutely love how creative they get - they’ve done a bunch of different fish lines focused on rays to jellyfish to sharks. I particularly adore their pinafores - I own three of them and they’re very comfortable AND have pockets.
Carmico
A classic - I think the brand that got me really invested in indie clothing brands? Carmico does themed drops a couple times a year where they design a myriad of clothing pieces that all have a similar vibe/theme. I think they do a good job at getting creative while still having the clothing be something I would wear! From button-ups to sweatpants to jackets Carmico has the variety and the style. A lot of their clothing gives the vibe of something you would draw on a character and wish existed in real life - except now it does exist in real life!
Morningwitch
Another classic, if you haven’t checked them out by now PLEASE do. Morningwitch has SUCH as eye for design and patterns and color. Chiefly known for their creative button up tops (of which I own several) they also have expanded quite a bit recently. Their skirts are probably my favorite style of all the skirts on this list because they have a thicker band. They also do some relief print shirts, the CUTEST jackets (if you’ve seen pics of brownies pomegranate jacket this is where they got it) and on their twitter they have a lot more fun stuff brewing. Much like Mayakern they’re starting to branch out beyond their ‘standard’ (the button up tees) into new avenues and I personally look forward to what that brings!
Knockthrice
This indie store blends concepts and casual wear together into something extraordinary. From their knight cardigans, to their ‘tea’-shirts, to their themed over-the-garden wall collections they have some of the most beautiful pieces you may ever see. Knockthrice does a great job at blending ideas into clothing in a creative way so make it something that I would wear in daily life. Their shirts are a good, durable, thick material - although maybe a little warm for the summer. A lot of their stuff gives me fall vibes, and as someone who loves fall the most out of all season - I eat it up!
Envygreen Manor
More of a newcomer on the scene as far as I am aware, envygreen manor also does themed drops once or twice a year. However, their clothing it usually more of a mix between casual tees and more formal elements - their vests or poet shirts come to mind. I instantly fell in love with them when I saw their mock-neck designs and felt like they somehow knew me and exactly the kind of shirt I would want from them.
Vetiverfox Apparel/Witch Vamp
Putting these two together because they kind of occupy the came part of my brain! They’re both skirt focused brands much like Mayakern. Vetiverfox typically has more intricate designs or patterns, while Witch Vamp usually has bolder themes - not that thats a hard rule or anything! I own I believe a skirt from each of them (soon to be two from vetiverfox!) and highly recommend at least taking a peak and seeing if anything catches your eye from either brand!
Mothsprout
Mothsprout only has a few clothing options, but I absolutely HAVE to mention them. Mothsprout has two muscle tank designs that I literally wear like once a week - I’ve actually considered getting a second of the wolf design just so I can wear it more often. Their designs vary from intricate to fun, and honestly I would never pass up a chance to wear their beautiful art as clothing.
Other indies I keep an eye on but don't have a lot to say about:
Motel777
Bison Wares
Snowlattes
Fiveboos
JeanaDraws
Howl Out
Bandaid Brigade
and if you have any other indie clothing brands you want added to the list lmk!

First things first, your indie sleaze wardrobe starts at the thrift store. This is where you’ll find those perfectly worn-in pieces that are essential for the look. Think vintage band tees, oversized flannels, and distressed jeans that have just the right amount of edge.
What to Look For: Keep an eye out for leather jackets, graphic tees, slip dresses, and anything with a grungy, lived-in feel. The more unique, the better! Don’t be afraid to dig through the racks—you never know what hidden gems you’ll find.
Pro Tip: Hit up thrift stores in different neighborhoods or cities for a wider variety of styles. And don’t be afraid to venture into the men’s section—you can find the best oversized flannels and jackets there!
2. DIY Distressing: Making It Yours
Once you’ve got your thrifted pieces, it’s time to make them your own with some DIY distressing. The goal is to create that perfectly imperfect look that feels authentic and a little rebellious.
How to Distress: Grab a pair of scissors, a cheese grater, or some sandpaper and go to town on your denim and tees. Focus on areas like the hems, pockets, and edges to give them that worn-in, grungy vibe.
Bleaching & Dying: For an extra edge, try bleaching or tie-dyeing your pieces to give them a custom, one-of-a-kind look. You can create cool patterns or just go for an overall faded effect that looks totally effortless.
3. Layering Like a Pro: Mix, Match, and Mismatch
Indie sleaze fashion is all about layering, so don’t be afraid to mix and match different textures, patterns, and styles. The key is to look like you just threw something on and it just happens to look amazing.
Layering Essentials: Start with a basic slip dress or a pair of skinny jeans, then add an oversized band tee or flannel. Top it off with a vintage leather jacket or a chunky cardigan, and you’re good to go.
Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to clash! Mix patterns like plaid with stripes, or pair a delicate dress with a tough leather jacket. The beauty of indie sleaze is that there are no rules—just your own unique style.
4. DIY Customization: Personalize Your Pieces
Ready to take things up a notch? DIY customization is where your personality really shines through. This is your chance to create pieces that are 100% you.
Patches & Pins: Add some flair to your jackets, bags, and jeans with DIY patches and pins. You can find these at craft stores, online, or even make your own from old fabric scraps or prints.
Embroidery & Painting: If you’re feeling extra crafty, try your hand at embroidery or fabric painting. Add some lyrics from your favorite band, a cool design, or just your initials to make your pieces truly one-of-a-kind.
Pro Tip: Use fabric markers to doodle or write on your clothes. It’s an easy way to add a personal touch without needing any special skills or equipment.
5. Accessorize the Sleaze: Final Touches
Accessories are the finishing touches that pull your whole look together. Think chunky boots, layered necklaces, and lots of rings. The goal is to look like you just threw everything on in a hurry but still look effortlessly cool.
Footwear: Go for combat boots, old-school sneakers, or worn-in ankle boots. The more scuffed up, the better—it adds to that lived-in, indie vibe.
Jewelry: Pile on the rings, bracelets, and necklaces. Mix metals, wear multiple necklaces at different lengths, and don’t be afraid to stack your rings. More is more!
Bags & Hats: Finish off your look with a slouchy beanie, a vintage hat, or a crossbody bag. These little details can really elevate your outfit and make it feel complete.
6. Confidence is Key: Rock Your Look
At the end of the day, the most important part of any outfit is confidence. Indie sleaze is all about embracing your individuality and not caring what anyone else thinks. So throw on your DIY creations, strut your stuff, and own your unique style!
Pro Tip: The best way to feel confident is to be comfortable in what you’re wearing. Make sure your DIY pieces reflect your true self, and you’ll feel amazing no matter what you put on.
Final Thoughts, Babe: You’re the Indie Sleaze Queen
And there you have it, your ultimate guide to crafting your own indie sleaze-inspired wardrobe! 🎨 From thrift store hunts to DIY customization, you’ve got all the tools you need to create outfits that are totally you. Remember, indie sleaze is all about embracing imperfection, mixing and matching, and most importantly, having fun with your fashion.

So I was thinking about character design with Delta and how he shares his body with a child, and how that might effect his appearance, especially as Beta and Delta get better at sharing control or giving away control.
And maybe also Delta allows them to modify the body somewhat to be able to express themself and also as a way to have some control/be able to have some proof of existence. As recommended by their therapist maybe.
Like, Beta might add vibrant and playful accessories to their shared attire. This could include items like colorful wristbands, bright shoelaces, or even fun stickers on Delta's gear.
Beta could influence the choice of clothing to include more playful elements. This might manifest as patches or badges on Delta's jackets or pants that represent Beta's interests, such as animals, favorite characters, or symbols of bravery and adventure.
Beta might personalize their shared items with small, personal touches. For instance, they could draw or embroider small designs on their clothing or equipment, adding a sense of individuality and creativity.
Since Beta is a child, they might introduce comfort items into their wardrobe, like a favorite scarf, a beanie, or even a small, soft toy that can be tucked into a pocket or backpack for a sense of security and familiarity.
While Delta's color scheme might be predominantly black and orange, Beta could influence the incorporation of more vibrant colors into their shared outfits. This could be through colorful socks, a bright undershirt, or a vividly patterned bandana.
Beta's influence could also be seen in the choice of patterns and designs on their clothing. They might prefer more whimsical and youthful patterns, such as stars, stripes, or cartoon characters, adding a lighter and more playful touch to their attire.
Given their resourcefulness, Beta might enjoy making DIY modifications to their clothing and gear. This could include painting designs on their sneakers, adding homemade friendship bracelets, or creating custom patches for their jacket.
Beta's interests and hobbies could be reflected in their shared fashion. If Beta is interested in certain games, shows, or hobbies, they might incorporate related items or symbols into their wardrobe, such as a hat with a favorite character or a shirt with a fun graphic.
I was thinking, given Delta's hyperfixations in mechanical and technological engineering, how he could incorporate various items and symbols that reflect these interests into his outfits.
Like he might wear clothing with gear, circuit, or schematic patterns. This could include shirts, jackets, or even accessories like hats and scarves featuring these designs.
He could have accessories that resemble or are made from actual tech components. For instance, a necklace made from a small gear or a circuit board, bracelets with resistor beads, or even a watch with visible mechanical parts.
Delta might wear a utility belt or tool holster that holds small tools and gadgets. This could include a mini screwdriver set, pliers, a multi-tool, or even a small soldering kit, emphasizing his readiness to tinker with things on the go.
Pins or badges with tech symbols, such as a wrench, a gear, or even a microchip, could be added to his clothing. These could be attached to his jacket, hat, or backpack.
A pair of protective goggles, either worn on his head or around his neck, would signify his readiness for mechanical work. The goggles might have a futuristic design or modifications that reflect his engineering skills.
Delta might modify his clothing and accessories to include practical tech elements. For example, a jacket with built-in LED lights, a backpack with solar panels for charging devices, or shoes with hidden compartments for small tools.
He could have clothing items that feature blueprints or diagrams of machines and devices. This could include graphic tees or hoodies with printed designs that look like detailed engineering sketches.
Delta might wear rings, bracelets, or necklaces that have mechanical elements, such as tiny moving parts, gears, or pieces of hardware like nuts and bolts.
Clothing with patches made from different materials, including fabrics that resemble or are inspired by tech components (like kevlar or mesh), could add a unique touch to his style.
Delta might prefer boots or shoes with a rugged, utilitarian design, possibly with extra pockets or compartments for storing small items or tools.
He might carry around small, portable gadgets that reflect his interests, such as a mini drone, a handheld gaming device, or a small robotic companion that he can interact with.
And like. Imagine Beta putting little doggy stickers that look like Zorox all on Delta’s utility belt and the shoes with the colorful laces and the LED light jacket maybe. Or maybe instead of a LED light jacket, Beta just put glow in the dark stars all over it.
And like. Delta needs some convincing to go outside in that, because it is distinctly not manly. But he can feel Beta’s upset, and they start crying, and he doesn’t want them to be upset so he prepares to face the embarrassment.
Only no one really notices, or if they do, they compliment him on his cool as fuck stickers or stars and dog patches.

the first draft of can we get closer (let's get closer) -- i couldn't bear not posting it, since it is completed :)
(expect similarities, though it's quite different!)
jihyo / tzuyu, 2k. suggestive (basically smut) // MEN DNI
tzuyu has never liked tattoos.
she's never liked the idea of pain leaving a permanent mark, created by someone else, no less.
perhaps if she were a little more artistic, had a little more in way of creative self-expression. perhaps then she would learn to fully appreciate them, like how chaeyoung did.
she liked them on other people, though, enjoyed looking at all of chaeyoung's little works.
but for now, tzuyu is content without any of her own.
confidently so, she's always thought.
yet here she is, eyes fixated on one park jihyo, suddenly intrigued.
jihyo was, by no means, a close friend. a mutual contact at best and one tzuyu has never really thought much past her profession.
but it's this exact thought that has tzuyu hooked, curiosity piqued. what does park jihyo's tattoos look like?
chaeyoung has fallen asleep on the couch by now, their planning session definitely lasting longer than expected, but jihyo hasn't left, and tzuyu is too distracted to want to leave.
she's too distracted by jihyo.
she can't stop looking at the edges of faded black beneath the sleeves of jihyo's tee, can’t stop catching glimpses of carefully lined maroon when jihyo's lifts her arms just so, stretching languidly from sketching too long. the hem of her crop rises slightly to reveal more ink, right around her ribcage.
tzuyu tilts her head subconsciously, entranced.
unfortunately for her, jihyo is perceptive – and bold.
"checking me out?" she chuckles, throwing tzuyu a playful wink. sets her pen down, happy for an excuse to talk to this friend of chaeyoung she's always seen around, but never got the chance to know. it's casual, flirty.
but tzuyu isn't so easily shaken. "yeah, just… curious." they've interacted enough for her to be honest, she thinks.
jihyo smiles, slightly amused, how tzuyu cuts to the chase so quickly. "see anything you like?"
"okay, i'm not checking you out, just curious."
"sorry, sorry," jihyo laughs, somehow enjoying tzuyu's deadpan way of banter. "pretty girls make me say stupid things."
she pushes herself off the ground and joins tzuyu, the leather couch sinking gently under her. "curious about what?"
it's the most they've talked ever; the most she's heard tzuyu talk, so jihyo naturally wants to keep the conversation going, if only to hear tzuyu's voice more.
"your…," tzuyu says, unexpectedly sheepish at the suddenly very real prospect of jihyo flirting.
"um… your tattoos?" she words it as a question, just so it doesn't come off too imposing – also because she'd been snapped out of her thoughts and in that moment, wasn't thinking of anything but is she flirting?
jihyo doesn't seem to mind her uncertainty at all.
"oh, you saw?" she looks down at her exposed abdomen, before lifting her cropped tee just a little more, and tzuyu gets her first taste of what exactly she hasn't seen.
"they're a bit hidden, but i promise i'm not a tattoo artist who hasn't experienced a tattoo before," jihyo says, like tzuyu was a potential customer expressing her worries. "don't worry."
except that wasn't really what tzuyu was asking for, so she bites her tongue.
but it's like jihyo reads her mind, or maybe tzuyu isn't very good at hiding her emotions, because she asks, "wanna see more?"
"really?" tzuyu perks up, brows raising in anticipation. "do you have pictures?"
"no, but i can show you now," jihyo offers, and tzuyu practically beams.
if tzuyu had a tail, jihyo thinks it would definitely be wagging right now, because she nods so quickly that jihyo can't help but let the excitement rub off her.
she thought tzuyu was shy at first, because they'd never talked much; then, a little stoic in the way she spoke –
but now, tzuyu's just cute.
jihyo lifts the hem of her tee, wisps of red and black revealed. tzuyu leans in, and she makes out a fragment of a flame, curving right below the underside of jihyo's chest. it's elegant in its form, less patchwork like chaeyoung’s and more cohesive.
"i have these, another just halfway down my shoulder, and one more on my back," jihyo explains, eager to share. "it's a big one, but not too big."
she takes off her shirt, and tzuyu jolts back in surprise, heart in her throat.
"oh, you– " you don't have to, is what she means to say, but the moment she sees the tattoo on jihyo's back, she forgets.
it's a breathtaking tattoo, brushstroke-like details, similar to the ones on her ribcage. the red and blacks are a constant theme, and they flow down the dip of her spine, spreading over her shoulder blades and fading off in the edges.
"did it hurt?" tzuyu asks, voice softer, like jihyo's delicately drawn tattoos simply warranted something more gentle. she reaches out to touch, a curious moth to a flame; traces her fingers over the lines. "it's beautiful."
jihyo feels goosebumps rise in the wake of tzuyu's touch, but her chest swells with pride at tzuyu's comment. "it hurt, but it was worth it, so they cancel out, yeah?” she reasons. “are you thinking of getting one?"
"definitely worth it," tzuyu agrees. she didn't know she had a preference for tattoos, but she thinks she might have one now. they looked incredibly good on others, namely jihyo. "but no, i don't like pain."
"didn't think you were a scaredy cat," jihyo teases, grin sly.
the jibe is enough to snap tzuyu out of her trance, and she folds her arms back into her chest with a huff. "not liking pain doesn't mean i'm scared of it," she scoffs. "i would just rather not experience it."
jihyo laughs at tzuyu's silly workaround, a light chuckle leaving her lips that, if not for the fact they were the only ones talking, tzuyu would not have heard.
"who says pain has to be bad?" jihyo muses, leaning into where tzuyu had leaned back. "won't know until you try, right?"
at this point, tzuyu isn't sure if jihyo's still joking or not. it's the same laid back expression, the one she had when she'd called tzuyu pretty, but the words here don't feel quite the same.
"what do you mean?" tzuyu asks.
"you know, like how people talk about mixing pain with pleasure," jihyo says, taking tzuyu's hand in hers.
"like how… if i do this – " she tugs hard, and tzuyu falls forward with a yelp. " –the suspense hurts," jihyo giggles. "but then there're also these butterflies in your tummy."
yeah, there're butterflies in her tummy, but she can't say they're from the pain of her hitched breaths – can't say they're not from jihyo's proximity.
tzuyu is suddenly acutely aware that jihyo is topless, and the only reason she isn't all over jihyo is because she's holding herself up.
"this is– this is different," tzuyu denies resolutely, but she sounds a little out of breath. "not the same as… a tattoo."
"it's about the feeling, tzuyu," jihyo says, eyes fleeting down to tzuyu's lips, then back up.
tzuyu's chest tightens, and she doesn't know if it's the butterflies, or whatever it is jihyo is making her feel.
but isn't that how it always goes – flame burning moth the moment they touch.
there's a beat.
a short one, but a thousand thoughts run through tzuyu's mind in that fraction of a second.
jihyo's eyes bore into hers, and all of tzuyu's thoughts condense into a single sentence –
she’s so pretty.
tzuyu stops breathing.
"can i kiss you?"
it's jihyo who asks.
she's quiet.
can i kiss you?
there's the soft exhale of their breaths, anticipation palpable. a tiny spark.
"you’re really pretty," tzuyu whispers.
all the butterflies come back.
the spark bursts like wildfire, the moment jihyo leans in to press her lips into hers.
jihyo tastes warm, so warm it spreads down tzuyu's neck, into her chest, and she hates that they're in this position now, because she wants her hands on jihyo; wants to feel all that warmth in its entirety.
she doesn’t really know how they’ve gotten here, how they’ve moved so quickly, but doesn’t really care.
the only place tzuyu can reach is jihyo's ribcage, so she does just that, thumbs pressing into ink, fingers curving into her sides. "i really like your tattoos," she murmurs in between kisses.
"mhm," jihyo hums, searching for tzuyu's lips again. "i like you.”
she gives tzuyu another peck, and tzuyu can’t really reply, especially not with jihyo nipping. her teeth close gently with tzuyu’s lips in between, tugging until it hurts ever so slightly, enough to make tzuyu suck in a breath.
“unnie– “ tzuyu mewls, tasting copper on her tongue and digging her fingers into jihyo’s sides. the sensation is odd, but jihyo kisses the pain away.
“that hurt,” tzuyu murmurs.
“that was the goal,” jihyo says, nosing the underside of tzuyu’s jaw before placing another kiss there.
she sucks lightly, and tzuyu feels teeth again, probing. she notes jihyo’s penchant for biting, and is about to reprimand her again for the pain, but then jihyo sucks where she’s bitten, and all tzuyu can do is squirm and instinctively cant her head upward, the buzz that crawls down her neck suddenly addicting.
jihyo pulls back then, licking her lips at the sight of the reddening mark under tzuyu’s jaw. “you look so pretty, all marked up.”
tzuyu barely has a second to respond before jihyo dives in again, this time to the base of her neck, right at the edge of her collarbone. she does the same thing over – sucking, biting, licking – painful, but less so now that tzuyu has experienced it, and there’s such a pleasant hum that follows, making her stomach curl deliciously, choking back her whimpers.
“unnie,” tzuyu breathes out, a silent request she can’t find the words for in her current state of mind.
she wants jihyo to touch her properly, to sate that heat in her tummy, maybe mark her up there, and jihyo can see it in the way tzuyu has unconsciously started moving her hips against her thighs too, grinding with evident desperation.
but she can also hear chaeyoung shuffling, the telltale shifting of someone on the verge of waking up, so jihyo licks at tzuyu’s collarbone a final time, and pulls back.
“not now,” jihyo whispers, hands finding purchase on tzuyu’s waist to stop her from getting off completely on jihyo’s thigh. “chaeyoung."
a short, high pitched sound escapes tzuyu’s throat, a meek whine that encapsulates all her frustration perfectly. it's like her entire vocabulary has dwindled down to nothing, and it's embarrassing the way she even thinks of begging. "unnie…"
"you're so cute, tzuyu," jihyo muses. she bites at tzuyu's neck again, and the sting is warm and insistent.
but tzuyu's also uncomfortably wet now, soaked through with nothing to satiate her. "i still… don't like pain," she huffs, just to annoy jihyo.
"hey, i haven’t shown you what that really is yet,” jihyo teases. “give me an answer the next time i come over.”
the promise of next time makes tzuyu’s tummy flutter; those stupid butterflies jihyo keeps giving her.
she doesn’t entertain jihyo with a response, sitting up and untangling their legs. jihyo laughs, tzuyu’s tantrum terribly endearing, and she’s about to tease a little more before chaeyoung lets out an audible groan.
tzuyu’s eyes widen, and jihyo quickly slips on her shirt. they hold their breath when chaeyoung starts rubbing the sleep out her eyes, groaning again. “this fucking couch… i’m moving to my bed.”
she doesn’t even spare them a glance, trudging to her bedroom in muted thuds.
tzuyu and jihyo exchange looks, before they start giggling uncontrollably.
“i think that’s my cue to leave,” jihyo laughs, trying to regain her composure.
she leans in, puckering her lips, as if asking for a goodbye kiss.
tzuyu taps her cheeks lightly. “next time.”
jihyo narrows her eyes. tzuyu smiles slyly.
“fine,” jihyo pouts. “try not to dream about me.”
with a flirtatious wink, she’s out the door.
tzuyu lets it simmer for a bit, burning the memory of jihyo’s tattoos into her mind. red, black, and flowy. the ones on her ribs curve into her sides, another on her shoulders inching down to her collarbones. and then her back, following the dip of her spine, over her shoulder blades.
a trail of red is scattered down tzuyu’s neck, jihyo’s marks etched into her skin.
