You've got a really big heart
It makes me want to fall apart
Especially when you fart
Cause I really like that part

I want to point out that this is an issue that comes back to the Good Gays. Like Good Immigrants, there's a certain ideal that closeminded people find acceptable as far as gay people in their community. You'll recognise the list:
no pda
no handholding
no mentioning of LGBT rights
in brief, no "shoving it down our throats"
But if you follow all of those rules, if you decide to be out but not loud, keep yourself to yourself and carry on, you may think you're safe, but you're not.
You're only safe until they are forced to remember that you're gay. The only reason the Good Gay is not viewed as a threat by homophobes is because the Good Gay is not viewed as gay at all.
when I pressed a homophobic friend on whether he really thought I deserved less rights, he repeatedly protested that that wasn’t it, that it wasn’t me personally, just something he believed about gay people. That he was sorry that I was an accidental casualty. That he didn’t include me in what he thought of when he thought of The Gays because I’m not “visible”.
If you’re out to your homophobic friends and they’re still heavily homophobic, they either view you as deserving of being lesser (legally) or they’re consciously ignoring that you’re gay. Either way, get the fuck out of there.
#i cant deal with closet homophobes anymore#give me the out and loud homophobes right from the get go so I at least know what im dealing with#i have less respect for this man than for my roommate who told me i was going to hell for two years#because at least she had the common curtosy to acknowledge that when i said i was gay it meant i was GAY
