“Please give a warm welcome to your newest peer, he’s a foreign exchange student. Would you like to come up and introduce yourself, Takashi?” Shiro winced but shuffled away from the door and towards the front of the class. “It’s Shiro.” He corrected politely, the teacher made a face but nodded. “My apologies, Shiro.” The teacher smiled warmly and stepped aside to let him talk. He glanced around the room anxiously, a lot of faces, most curious and excited, it was encouraging.  Before the nerves could stir up in his guts, he straightened his back, holding his hands in front of him. “Hello, My name is Shirogane Takashi. My first name is Takashi but-” A student raised their hand. He glanced at the teacher, unsure. He only nodded and gestured to him. That was sort of unhelpful. Shiro thought offhandedly, but called on the kid anyway.

“If it’s your first name, why did you say your last name first?” Shiro picked at his nails and gave a nervous smile. “Oh, that’s because In Japan, your peers. Coworkers, or anyone you’re not close to are supposed to call you by your last name.” The kid looked like they had another question so Shiro added quickly. “It’s just what I’m used to being called.”

The kid shrugged with an ‘Okay’ and settled back into their seat. He cleared his throat and started again. “Like I said, Takashi is my first name but I’d prefer if you all called me Shiro.” He tried to give an honest smile. The teacher piped up from his desk, “Why don’t you share some of your hobbies, your skills, just let the class get to know a bit about you.”

Having been put on the spot, Shiro frowned and rubbed his arm, thinking of things. Another kid in the back raised their hand, and the first thing Shiro noticed was he had very blue eyes. It was a random observation but he called on them anyway. “Hi.” Shiro waited for the rest, but silence followed so he greeted back. “..Hello.” They watched him for a second before adding. “I’m Curtis.” Shiro relaxed a little but wasn’t sure how to respond. “Hi Curtis, I’m Shiro.. I already said that, huh.”

Curtis smiled before leaning back in his seat. “What’s your favorite color?” Shiro glanced around the room, none of them looked surprised or confused, he spared another glance at his teacher and their small smile just indicated this wasn’t too abnormal or out of the blue. “Uh, probably black, well, some people don’t think black is a color, so, purple?” Curtis didn’t mind the slow responses. “I like blue, specifically baby blue.”

Shiro wanted to snort, he wondered if it was because it matched his eyes. Shiro hadn’t noticed the teacher standing up. “Thank you, Curtis, for that. Would you mind if Mr. Shiro here sat next to you?” The teacher had rested a hand on his shoulder and he stiffened up. “Oh, he does-”

“Sure.” He said easily, reaching over to move his bag from the seat beside him. He made a grand gesture to the empty school chair as if it was some kind of throne. Shiro giggled into his arm, playing it off as clearing his throat. “Well, if we have no more questions for Shiro, you can take your seat.” Shiro took a small step away from his teacher before bowing lightly.

He stepped away from the front and passed a few girls that giggled at him, he averted his eyes and quickly made his way to his seat. Curtis was leaning against his palm, elbow on the table. “Hey.” Curtis said again, Shiro sat his bag down. “Hey..” The boy grinned, “Fancy seeing you here.” It was stupid but he laughed at it anyway. -- Hiya! Sorry this one is a little short, I will have another post coming up later today though! (Please do feel free to point out any errors with Shiro's mannerisms. Peter (Peter Griffin???? HAHAHA): Brown hair, green eyes and freckles. Logical and with a good memory, decisive and honest, reserved and silent. He is the son of James Griffin and Ina Leifsdottir!!!!

Fanny: Dark skin, dark brown hair, glasses, red headband!!!, olive green eyes, and of course camera and camcorder!!!. She seems cheerful and outgoing, a lover of movies and cinema, fun and always ready to snoop around and get into trouble. She daughter of Nadia Rizavi and Ryan Kinkade ???? Obviously!!!

Hinata: Pale skin and black hair, blue eyes and glasses. She is introverted and silent, reserved and fair, courageous and decisive. She is the adopted daughter of Shiro and Curtis, she is originally from Japan.

As his eyes slowly blink open, the sound of beeping infiltrates Shiro’s ears, and he groans. Bright sunlight filters in through the window and into the blurry room. With trembling forearm, he tries to sit up, grabbing his glasses off the side table and focusing his vision.

“You’re awake.” His gaze catches on Curtis, who holds a closed book in his lap. Curtis looks tired, but relieved, a gentle smile creasing the lines around his eyes.

“How long—“

“Just five hours.” Just. Even if Curtis looks at him with understanding, embarrassment flushes Shiro’s face. Five hours he’d kept Curtis waiting at his bedside.

Now that he’s properly awake, he can see how uncomfortable and sterile the hospital room is. Thin, ratty curtains hang framing the window. The floors and ceiling are both white. Curtis, sitting beside him, is in a stiff, plastic chair.

“I’m sorry.” Shiro’s left hand pushes at his face, rubbing his eyes and twisting to adjust his hair.

“Don’t be,” Curtis rolls his eyes, smile flattening slightly. “I know you can’t help it. You keep me safe. It’s sweet.”

A sharp pain in Shiro’s side only causes the guilt to fester. He pulls back the thin white sheet he’s under, feels under his hospital gown for the thick bandages wrapped around his chest and his stomach.

“Not gonna call me stupid?”

“You already know you’re stupid,” Curtis plainly states, narrowing his eyes. “If Keith and Lance hadn’t been there, you’d probably have seven more cuts. Idiot.” It sounds pained and fond all at once coming from his mouth.

Memories flash through Shiro’s mind. Shopping for the reunion barbecue with Curtis, Keith, and Lance. Getting separated in the store, then cornered by a thin, wild-eyed man with shaking hands. Trying to calm down the panicked man on his own, slowly approaching him with rational words of reality and war being over.

He hadn’t accounted for a knife.

Keith turning a corner before it all went dark.

Shiro blinks it all away.

“You’re alive. That’s all I need, for now.” Curtis reaches to place a firm hand on Shiro’s chest, eyes searching.

Gratefulness blooms where his hand is placed, spreading warmly through Shiro’s limbs. He can’t help but smile, eyes tearing up. Shiro sucks in a shaky, rattling breath.

“I’m really bad at retirement,” he admits, throat tight.

“The worst,” Curtis agrees.

“I love you,” Shiro whispers, ignoring the tight jabs of injury to place his hand over Curtis’.

“I love you, too.”

Voltron, as a series is amazing, but I can agree with other people, that the last couple of seasons were weak as heck

There were alot of times where it just made me sit back and go "yo wtf??" And just sit there in sadness as I thought about the wasted potential of the show

So here's a top 3 Voltron things we had in the show!

1. Adam. Oh gosh, I'm here for when I speak for most people that Adam was one of those characters where barely got to see any of them. (because he's dead) And too me, that's just messed up.

He's one of the shows cannon LGBTQ+ rep (along with Shiro), and just killing cannon representation off like that, is just No. WHY???

I wish we could have seen more of Adam, or even Shiro mention him earlier into the series with more of his memories/flashbacks, or even KEEPING HIM ALIVE!! Either way, we all wanted to see more of Adam, and it was really sad to just see his 4 or so minutes of screen time 😞

2. An actual Shurtis storyline. More on Shiro, here we are discussing his relationship with Curtis.

As much as I love Shiro's ending of his wedding and getting married to his husband Curtis, I can understand why some people were upset at this ending.

We never really saw much of Shiro and Curtis together aside from the wedding in the epilogue.

I feel like if they at least had some moments to showcase their relationship, or even flourish Curtis' character would be nice, as the ending of them getting married would make much more sense, and be more satisfying.

I've read some amazing fics on ao3 with Shiro and Curtis. Those fics honestly show what we could have had in the show, I feel like a good plotline for a Shiro/Curtis related plot/ subplot is them wanting to ask each other out or confining in eachother due to the stress off the war.

ANYTHING, just any plot between them would make Shiro's conclusion more satisfying.

3. A better character arc and ending for Lance.

Oh, good golly gee. Lance McClain. Where do I even start. Lance is, and always will be, my favourite character. He was honestly done so dirty by the creators ☹️

His ending of making him a farmer was not it. Like seriously, him settling down, having a simple life, and being a farmer when his lifelong dream was to be a pilot?? No. Just NO.

The rebound treatment, him getting treated like a rebound towards Allura. Honestly Allurance wasn't even that bad, if it was fleshed out more and we got too see more of Allura and Lance together, it could have been something. But the way they decided to execute it in the series itself was horrible.

Lance was a rebound, and Allura showed zero to no interest in him. Allura fell in love with Lotor, not Lance. Honestly, I feel like Lotor and Allura being together should have done some good in Lance's character arc rather than it being bad. It should have taught him to try to move on, or console in his friends, ie, Pidge, Hunk, even Keith etc etc.

Maybe this whole arc could have made him realise who he really needed was right infront of him all along. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Or possibly to realise his own self worth, and that he's more than just "a boy from Cuba"

I think they made him get with Allura beacuse he was such a "ladies man" but in reality he's so much more than that ☹️ He's a guy who values his friends and family, putting himself before others, and wanting the better for others, I wish they could have explored that in him more.

Obviously, there is SO much more I could cover, way much more, this doesn't even scratch the surface! But these are the top three ones that really just stick out to me.

I love voltron! This show is literally one of my favourite shows. It's not perfect, yes, but it's done what it could in it's two year running time, so sad it's getting removed off netflix 😞

some silly voltron thoughts;

shiro is actually very goofy and fun around his partner (originally this was gonna be about adam but it could also apply to curtis)

around the team, he's their leader and a parental figure. he provides them with guidance and instruction, and he's a mentor. he's the black lion's paladin, but with his partner, he's shiro and that's so special to me guys

like imagine he's baking with his partner, he's wearing some branded apron he was gifted by the garrison as part of a consolation package, and they both have flour in their hair and on their noses.

whatever they were making ends up burnt but they laugh about it and order postmates instead, turning on a stupid horror movie and eating storebought cookies until they fall asleep on the couch.

it's one of the few domestic moments that shiro *really* gets to experience as a pilot, but more importantly it makes him remember he's in his fucking 20's. it gives him a chance to actually feel like it.

when he's around someone he loves (especially if it's romantic), he lets himself feel like he doesn't know what he's doing. and that feels so, so good. for once, he doesn't have to pretend all of his shit is together, and he can relax and act his age.

Propaganda for Curtis x Shiro:

It's pretty much the gay version of when shows/movies force a main character (Shiro[white hair/scar]) to get a completely random and underdeveloped love interest (Curtis[brown hair]) solely because the love interest is a different gender from the mc, despite there being absolutely no proper build up to said relationship. So in this case, this relationship has "straight vibes" in the sense that it's very heteronormative in it's structure.

If these two were a male/female pairing it would easily win for the "most forced and boring heteronormative canon couple in the show" award. If you look up Curtis' relationship with Shiro on the wiki, it's literally described as and i quote: "Little is known about the personal relationship between Shiro and Curtis, aside from the two of them getting along quite well, but somewhere along the way the two presumably started dating, and got married a few years later after the war ended." https://voltron.fandom.com/wiki/Curtis

Basically they stood next to each other a few times in the background, never actually have a full on meaningful conversation with each other on screen that was outside of work/their jobs, and then they're shown getting married in the show's epilogue; which comes completely of out nowhere because they literally never have any on screen chemistry/meaningful interactions with each other prior to that.

And keep in mind, this show has 8 seasons, yet Curtis only showed up in the background in season 7 and then is barely shown throughout season 8, and he's mostly not directly interacting with Shiro at all. Plus the only real reason Shiro was paired up with Curtis in the end is because the show runners got backlash from the fandom for killing off Shiro's previous gay partner on screen in season 7 (who also only existed for a few episodes in said season).

So once again, if we're going off the heteronormative variation of "straight vibes", then I think this couple qualifies as a prime example of what the gay version of that looks like.

Propaganda for Dirk Strider x Jake English:

theyre so gay and queer but AT THE SAME TIME ?? dirk raised himself 400 years in the future after human civilization was wiped out and is extremely convinced he has to be like, the peak of masculinity in every way, many of them toxic, and jake also raised himself but in normal times with no one else on an island inhabited by deadly monsters. jake is like ... obsessed with posters of women and wants to be lara croft tomb raider so bad, he is so Princess in the tower coded. like there's 1 million layers of gender and sexuality going on with the alpha kids and they all loop around and intersect and devour each other (the layers) like an ouroboros going from gay to straight to gay to straight etc etc. its really fascinating. They have so many problems and are bad at communicating just like a straight married couple (/j) but anyway vote them

OK I know that Tumblr isn't twitter and it's not about fighting with people but I really hate how much everyone hates the fact that Adam and Shiro didn't get together in the end. And because of that they take it out on Curtis. I do think that Voltron has a lot of missing parts in its story. I have a LOT of critiques towards the shows storytelling, but the only reason Shiro got with Curtis is because Adam passed away. I think it's a really important thing to show that war takes EVERYTHING from you. If we had been shown more of Shiro's relationship with Adam and Curtis we would've had a very sad story about a lover passing away and a very heartwarming story about finding the courage to move on. I really don't know why Voltron didn't take the time to make up more episodes about the character's relationships with each other, their experiences with literally having to leave everything behind to fight in a space war in a day, how Sam Holt, Shiro and Matt death with the extremely traumatising experience of being slaves and prisoners for the Galra, Lance and Hunk as characters are EXTREMELY empty I mean we only learn about their family TWICE. The show has so many missing parts but I think that Curtis and Shiro are cute and if they had a bit more time they could've been amazing. Anyways sorry for thr long ass rant and ThatBlueGalran out.
