For these I'll talk about the unnamed Savitar AU I've started.

🐕 comfort character?

Puppy!!!

I mean... I will answer the question now.

So this is gonna be an angsty fic. Savitar!Barry's undergone a lot of torture while Eobard brainwashed him and he is a massively unreliable narrator. Team Flash are, if understandably, not all that interested in helping him since he thinks he's here to kill Iris and that's all they know about him.

Surprisingly, Oliver is the comfort character in this one. Ignoring whatever was going on in Season 5 of Arrow, Oliver's getting what he thinks is a breather year. Which is of course when Savitar contacts him for help. And while of course Oliver's not going to help kill Iris, what Savitar wants help with is sorting out his nightmares and hallucinations. Oliver recognizes some of what Barry's going through in himself, from the PTSD he suffered after Ra'as tried, and failed, to brainwash Oliver.

Savitar is still Barry and Oliver wants to save him. So he runs off to Central City in order to try. When he realizes that Eobard Thawne is behind the Savitar persona, that's when Oliver turns to Team Flash.

💫 current choice of WIP title?

So it is an unnamed WiP at the moment, filed under "Savitar AU". But Savitar!Barry attempted to use music to mentally fight back against Eobard's brainwashing. One song that I've been thinking would feature prominently is Cringe by Matt Maeson. It's a song that's been pretty popular on the radio since it came out and 2023 is about when Savitar!Barry is from, so it's one he'd likely know well.

Since sometimes I take fic titles from song lyrics, I might consider doing that here with this song.

🎻 how’s the angst?

So much angst.

Savitar!Barry is struggling to break free of his programming but he's super traumatized by it all.

Oliver hates seeing any version of Barry suffering, so this is hard on him.

And Team Flash will get plenty of angst too. Angst for everyone. Angst to spare.

It's gonna be a difficult fic for me to write because of that, so it'll likely be a long while before it's ready to post.

My takeaway from the past 24+ hours...

There are so many of us that rely on ao3, whether you're a reader or writer. It brings us joy, it gives us an escape from the real world, and it lets us come together as a community to share stories and scenarios about our favorite fandoms and characters. The amount of posts I have seen on multiple platforms lamenting over the DDoS attacks is overwhelming - but with most of them comes a delightful cheer to the volunteers working to resolve this issue.

I've seen so many statements of praise for those volunteers, which is exactly what they deserve, and more. Can you imagine working for over 24 hours straight, on a volunteer basis, against something like this? They're the real MVPs, and I think our appreciation for them gets lost until moments like this rise.

With that said, here is my first real takeaway...

Don't bitch when ao3 does a donation drive. They work hard to keep the archive up and running, and with that costs money. Every server, every new addition or feature you want to see added to help make the site better, it costs money. The legal team that is defending fanfic authors??? MONEY. SO! DON'T! COMPLAIN!

I'm not saying you have to go out and donate your paycheck to ao3 - but I will say that, especially with this situation, if you can donate even a little bit to show your support, it means more than you probably realize, and even if you can't donate (which is totally okay), be kind to those who work on the archive. Send them kind words of encouragement, rather than flaming the archive because it's under attack - because yeah, I've seen people bitching AT ao3 for not working fast enough, or for it still being down. STOP IT.

My second takeaway...

Don't believe everything you see on the internet. Ao3 themselves have advised that the group claiming to take credit for this attack is to be treated with skepticism. And not only that, let's NOT automatically make assumptions about who is responsible just because of an organization's name. It's just a NAME, it doesn't identify a person's origin, background, etc. But I'm not here to dive into that much further. Point: I better not see any Sudanese hatred on my dash, or I will bite you.

My third takeaway...

Treat your fanfic writers with respect. We all now see first hand how much we depend on these stories. As I said above, for some it's an escape, a creative release, and a way to communicate with other people through similar interests. It's a beautiful creation, neither above nor below any other kind of literature.

Consider commenting, reblogging, kudos, anything you can to let the authors know you enjoyed and appreciate their works. Everyone is free to communicate in the way that suits them best, but every little bit is appreciated - as a fanfic writer myself, I can tell you that even a little heart emoji has made my day. It's like receiving a second kudos, and tells me that someone appreciated my efforts enough to give me a double thumbs up.

Any form of communication with the authors is appreciated. It lets them know that people are genuinely interested. We live in a world where INSTANT GRATIFICATION is taking over, but creations such as this take time. Talk with the authors, ask them about their wips, tell them they're doing a great job. Do NOT pester about "when are you updating next?" or the dreaded AI option - again, I will BITE PEOPLE if I see you doing this. Just...have some respect, show your appreciation, it's more than JUST FANFIC.

At the end of the day I guess this post is about being kind. Not pointing fingers or slandering people due to a name. It's about appreciating the things we do have, and not taking them for granted. Whether it's the brave cyber warriors currently fighting these DDoS attacks on the frontline, or the authors writing for not only their enjoyment, but for others too. Let's all respect one another, and show our support when and where we can.

I don't like unhappy endings. I enjoy angsty stories but I like when it's at least ending happy to me

Not really? Most adults (in my experience) know the 'don't like don't read' rule and know basic online etiquette. I've gotten some for discontinuing a fic or switching fandoms though

I don't write or draw NSFW! I like to make some suggestive themes sometimes, but I'm a very ace person, it's not something I do often. (I do have a current running goal that if my friend reaches their donation goal for their medical bills that I would give NSFW a shot, but again its not really my cup of tea)

10 – Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Nah I haven't written any cross overs, but I do draw them sometimes. Recently I've been spinning a Alice in Wonderland x COTL crossover in my head.

11 – Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yep. I've had people copy and paste my work, go in with a thesaurus to change a few words (like changing 'angry' to mad, 'upset' to 'sad', and so forth) to try and avoid detection and re-posted my written work under a different title name. AO3 staff took them down for violating their policy against plagiarism though

12 – Have you ever had a fic translated?

No. I wouldn't mind it so as long as I'm asked before hand, though not on anon so I can actually work with the person to prevent any mistranslations or mishandling, and that I don't want my work posted to other websites

13 – Have you ever co-written a fic?

I think I did when I was a teen but I cannot remember now

14 – What's your all-time favorite ship?

Eh I don't have any favorites, just ones I really focus on for a long while

15 – What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I can sit down for hours or several days and work on a writing wip completely in the zone. I cant do it on command but its at least something I can do

Spelling and grammar, and sometimes long running sentences. I just kinda write, theres not really a goal for it to be perfect though so as long as the story gist and vibe is right, im fine with it

I've done it before but only minor, had a friend help me with it (one or two lines of dialogue) Aside from that, I'm not comfortably fluent enough in anything to do it again without assistance

Soul Eater, when I was wayyy too young to be posting anything on the internet. My fanfics I wrote are still on fanfic.net to this day

Some advice from AU Calebs!

Heck yeah I did it! Finally i finished ONE of the HUNDREDS AU crossover ideas I have in my head!! Crossovers are fun guys!! (I apologise for a bad english in advance. Writing this it a rush.)

I couldn't make a crossover meme without the legend. Sorry, not sorry. He is such a sad lad but tries to stay positive and be happy for his family uydfykudsutsudskudsluds (*dies*). I have to admitt, Caleb's dad energy is too strong for me to handle without wanting a hug him. No wonder! He was THE grandpa for centuries straight without a break. At least Caleb gets his whole family together in the end. Comics with him and either Hunter and Philip or Luz and Eda make me run in cirles around the room aaaa.

Damn, you definetly created one of the darkest AU in the fandom. Each time I re-read AU related posts I scream my lungs out because it is so angsty and so great. I am genuinely scared of your Belos ngl, because.. this man didnt loose anything and he still proceeds to do all that stuff. Enconter with him has 0 survival rate.

POOR CALEB! At least in the world of memes he had an opportunity to flee the captivity twice (the bald head and the car). This man had no moment of mental rest for centuries oh my God. One of my friends wants to fight his brother personally to protec Caleb at all cost sksksk. Well, at least Hunter will always have an actually loving relative! And if the happy ending is going to be canon, I think the future looks great, especially knowing how much pain all your characters go through currently. (And I think both Caleb and Hunter would need the "you are not a burdain" affirmations. At least some form of support in their situation.)

You said in the latest ask-answer that BK!Caleb was supposed to have white streaks in his hair so I attempted to add them. Hope they look fine! Colors for the outfit I got from Belos, so they would match, I guess???

My bro, brother, friend... Despite you being not to involved on the discord server, my brain is still rotting with your great awesome AUs. And I know you know that. Your Caleb is really loose in all sences of that word and I love that. Wonder if your AUs will ever be available to the public. Because oh boy oh boy they deserve to be recognised. (Loose Caleb is such a conservative grandpa who never did anything wrong, wdym?)

Honestly? Man, your comic is the reason I got invested in Witteclaw couple at all. Even if the "Pip in time" is not their story, but you wrote their teen romance so sweetly. Those two melted my heart... I scream each time I re-read your comic for 100th time. Just WOAH my brain goes brrr! And Caleb as a character is also written really really well. I love him so much. He is such good brother but MAN HE NEEDS A BREAK FROM BEING AN ADULT! BOY! Insirt crying and heart emojis here.

My thoughts:

I have been drawing this for more than a month I think? And the only reason for that is my university. I hope to actually get an ADHD diagnosis because something is clearly wrong with me. But thats not the point.

There are so many ideas in my head. Goofy and not. The only problem is that I have less and less ability to do what I want lately. I wish I could bring them all to life, but at the same I dont know if anyone will be interested. Would AU crossovers look too self-indulgent? Or nah? Idk. (Just Grimwalker-Isle already has so much potential for stupid ridiculous fun I am runnin on coffee juice.)

Litteraly my mind is plagued with different fun plots and possibilities I am going crazy. But I also have A TON of WIPs that I need to finish. Perhaps I will attempt to manage everything at once, but, no promises.

When Eddie moves to LA following Shannon’s death, he starts a job working as an ER nurse at Cedars Sinai. Little does he know that his life as a single father is about to be upended by a firefighter who just will not stop getting injured while Eddie happens to be on shift.

💒 - The Fake Husband fic:

When people begin calling Buck Eddie’s husband, Eddie does what every normal person would do in that situation…. he doesn’t correct them. (a 3 + 1 + 1)

🙅🏻‍♀️ - The Homophobic Marisol fic:

When Marisol finds out Buck is bisexual and in love with Eddie, she threatens to reveal his true feelings to Eddie if Buck doesn’t step back and distance himself. Eddie struggles to understand why his best friend suddenly abandoned him and his son. Angst ensues.

When Buck breaks up with Tommy, he has no one to go to LA Pride with. Deciding to keep Eddie company while Chris is away, he invites Eddie to come along with him. As they spend their day together, secrets are uncovered and true feelings are figured out… some by the most unexpected of people.

Buck had tried driving out of town. Only to drive right back into it. Every attempt to leave, only brought him back right to where he started. When he asked anyone else about it, they would all just cheerfully ask Buck why he even wanted to leave in the firstplace. Even Eddie had stared at him like he was crazy, with his too bright smile that Buck hadn't realized was off until recently. And it wasn't like it was forced, it all just felt... fake. Buck doesn't think this is another coma is the thing, even in his bizzaro dream world the people in his life were a little different but they felt more real, just different. Everyone here just felt a little two dimensional. Like they're straight out of those crappy Hallmark Christmas movies that have been playing at the station in the background since before Thanksgiving.

Okay, for these I'm gonna use the troubled production that is The Story of Harrison Wells or The Story of HR - I haven't decided on a title yet which is for the best because I keep re-writing what I've got for it thus far. If I ever get anywhere with this, it'll be part of the Coffee, Drumsticks, and Social Revolutions series.

🥲 character who deserves more recognition?

HR Wells, of course. He's a sweetheart on the show and died too soon. Twice over. *grumbles about seasons six and seven*

The fic is meant to give him that recognition but also fill in his backstory. So this'll be about his college years and the work he did do as a scientist before the interdimensional war and how he coped with suffering a traumatic brain injury after the war, building STAR Labs...

Honestly, I'll probably wind up splitting it in two, one that covers up through the end of the war - when HR was still going by Harrison - and the other about everything that happened after up through him being outed as a fraud. So, one as The Story of Harrison Wells and the other as The Story of HR.

🍻 fav dynamic duo in WIP?

I though going into this it'd be HR and Randolf, but I came to the conclusion I don't actually much like Randolf so... so much for that. It'll actually wind up being HR and Josh (Breacher) once I start writing them. They'll meet during the war and wind up close enough friends that when Cynthia's godfather dies during the war, HR winds up her new godfather. Things do end up going wrong for HR and Josh's friendship down the line, but that's something that'll get patched up in later stories after Cynthia refuses to bring HR back from Earth-1.

The stream is showing a Christmas Party. The boys are in Ugly Christmas Sweaters, and matching pajama pants.

There's a table with lots of food, and drinks, including a dozen Pizzas. A couple big couches were set close to a TV with a microphone set up.

They're currently doing Christmas Karaoke. Those not singing were on the couch with some bells, or shakers.

Leo was leading them is singing Feliz Navidad. Well it's more like shouting since they just hit the course.

"I WANNA WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!" Leo basically yell sings into the Mic. Then a beat before going back to the more calm parts of the song.

Some watching were wondering how the audio wasn't just constantly peaking, or cutting out. Others were spamming lyrics and emojis in the chat. They were gifted some newer Holiday emojis for the party, and they were loving it.

There were some in the audience kinda Simping for Leo's Spanish, the mods were kinda just letting people go nuts, only timing people out when they got spammy.

The song finished, and Leo tosses the mic to Donnie who chose to sing 'You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch', reminding veiwers that Donnie has a deep vocal range.

Thus more simping in the chat along with emojis and lyrics.

They had finished the Karaoke and moved onto opening some fanmail. Since they didn't want to actually open presents just yet.

"Okay, this is from Jackie aka Softshell_Simp!" Leo starts before he's interrupted by Donnie.

"I told them to change their Username!!"

"Yeah, apparently that's not happening. So this is for Dee, ofcourse, here ya go." Leo lightly tosses the box.

Donnie cautiously opens and looks into the box. Their eyes go wide, and they close the box.

"What'd ya get Dee?" Mikey asks while pulling some nice art supplies from GlitterGraffiti_Art.

Donnie doesn't answer and instead gets up and walks away from the camera, a highly muffled "WTF!" could be heard.

"LANGUAGE!!" Raph shouts in the direction Donnie went. A still muffled but audible, "I'm not a teenager anymore! You can't stop me!" Was the response.

Raph just shook his head with exasperation while pulling some hand drawn cards and art done by young fans from the pile.

The guys had moved onto playing some Christmas Movie Trivia. They were running out of things to do on stream.

"The little known Lou Jitsu movie 'White Christmas Beatdown!' had how many references to past Lou Jitsu Movies?" Mikey read off of a card that might've been a home made version of a trivia game.

"Scoff. Easy, there were 20 references in that movie. Plus a hint to that canceled show." Donnie answers while drawing a card, "Who was kidnapped in the place of Santa, from a lack of knowledge, in The Nightmare Before Christmas?"

Raph's hand shot up, "The Easter Bunny!"

Leo was shuffling another stack of cards, and debating if he should try cheating or not.

"Alright, let's call it a night!" Raph announced as he got up from his seat.

Mikey lets out a yawn, and climbs onto Raphs shell, and starts to fall asleep.

Leo was in the background sipping on a drink, and bites the head off a Gingerbread Man.

"I hope this Christmas party was fun for you all Balemates. We'll very likely not stream again until after Christmas, but who knows. If so Happy Holidays, hope you get what you want, and have a nice rest of the night." Donnie turns to look at Leo, "Anything you want to add before I end the stream?"

Leo does some fingerguns, "Stay Beautiful Balemates. See ya, when I see ya. Bye!"

The stream switches to a Holiday Good-Bye/End Stream screen with cartoony Turtles in Santa Hats eating a Gingerbread House.
