a complicated enigma
part 4 | a complicated enigma
pairing: Connor x f!Reader
summary: “But somehow you managed to get under his artificial skin”
warnings: swearing
notes: I’m currently bedridden and have so much time i’ll probably write a lot for this series. also this is slow slowburn, like so slow you can’t even see it coming, so you’ll need all of the patience in this world for this
chapters: 1 , 2 , 3
The androids on the market were imprints of you. Straightforward, indifferent. Everything you’ve implanted in their software was a carbon copy of your own self, an outstanding remake. The qualities that made them the obedient, intelligent machines were concepts of your genius.
You remembered the planning of Connor. It was an unique proccess, one of its kind and you overachieved your own expectations with the outcome. He was a never-seen-before android, one that offered crucial insights and analysis on crime scenes, one that never got tired of the chase. Infact, his mission was above anything else. Your uncle’s face was in front of your eyes when you finished putting him together, his badge resting on the table next to you. He was the greatest investigator you’ve ever met: He was obsessed with his work and saving others, and that was the irony of it all. His life was lost, wasted, because of a drug addicted nobody who valued his poison more than a human life. When they arrived to your family home that night to tell you that your uncle was shot dead during a house search, you were devastated and angry. So angry that you wanted to kill that asshole with your bare hands, and keep the blood on your palms as a permanent reminder.
Connor was the very first android to take the lead as a detective but he wasn’t the last. You’ve had plans, dreams for many others to follow, but you had to put it to the side for the time being, mainly because there was a more pressing issue to deal with.
You locked your storage room, and found models to replicate the broadcast androids. The JB300’s laying on your table, their biocomponants spread out on the surface looked exactly like the ones you were hiding, except they were never activated. You had to put on an act to keep the three androids - and yourself - safe from the hungry hands of the repining humans starving for gratification.
You made fake reports with made-up calculations and false numbers. Your file ended with the cause of their conduct being inconclusive and you wrote remarks on their so-called interference and accomplice, calling it questionable. There wasn’t any iron clad evidence of it, and their software was compact and undamaged, leaving it up to you to decide if they had any role in the attack or was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. The substitute androids were put in a container, with their wires and limbs carefully separated, and you sent your report to Fowler, ending the message with expressing your pity for not being able to find out more.
After cleaning up your laboratory, you opted for your much more comfortable office, and turned on the TV. The news were all about the Stanford Tower invasion, debating the terrorist threat, and you watched as they replayed Markus’s speech over and over again, his face solemn and determined even without skin, his eyes never leaving the camera. His tone was confident yet gentle, and you’ve wondered if he had a somewhat leader position, fight with his people for justice. Your phone was buzzing, your colleagues worried, and you were sure that these events definitely had an effect on the outlook of the company and made the public reconsider if the utility of the machines was worth the risk. It was fascinating, even amusing, how one instance could overshadow years of hard work and time invested, destroying the image of a futuristic company dedicated to progression.
You needed a distraction to take your mind off the present moment and to forget. Alcohol was never your posion of choice, but smoking? Oh, you could never say no to a cigarette, especially after such eventful few days. You also had to go home: do laundry, check on the lady in the house next to yours, and eat something more substantial than granola bars. At the back of your mind your father’s worsening condition was also encouraging you to pay him a visit, but you were unsure whether it was a good idea.
On the way back, you were driving on autopilot, your legs moving independently, hands turning the steering wheel from memory. Lafayette Avenue was on the blatantly pompous side of the city, the street always busy and well-kept. The trees were cut, the bushes were incised, and to the naked eye it was the american dream materialized. The number 8941 was engraved into your mind, and you could not mistake the mansion for another. Carl Manfred’s home reminded you of a warm hug, and his paintings decorating the whole place made it even more welcoming. He was a celebrated, world-known artist after all, despite his troubled past. A past that you were a part of, an unfortunate consequence, and an uncomfortable reminder of his past life that he tried so hard to get out of.
You didn’t bother with knocking, the wooden doors opened before you with the always present gentle female voice.
“[Name] detected. Welcome home.”
You crossed the hall, going straight into the living room. The giant giraffe statue standing in the corner was glaring at you with accusing eyes, following you until you stepped into the studio, and you felt your muscles loosen a little bit.
“What a pleasant suprise!” Carl’s voice ranged genuinely, his eyes locking on yours. “I haven’t seen you in ages, [Name].”
Your father’s impending death loomed over him, his features slowly fading, the bags under his eyes getting darker and his coughing less bearable. In front of you wasn’t the shaken up man you’ve met ten years ago but a living corpse, clinging to his brushes and canvases with shaky hands and rotting nails.
His accident and weak health was just a fragment of his suffering. He was hunted by his memories - you were sure of it - and was forced to relive it day by day. You couldn’t pity him: it was his own doing. His decisions led to his fate and considering how he had no problem with abandoning his own children, his mutts, and years later try to recandle long dead realitonships, you were positive that he deserved his drawn-out agony.
“Yeah, it’s been a busy month.” you weren’t entirely lying. It really was eventful. “How have you been?”
Carl wheeled himself closer to you, seemingly lost in thought.
“I tried calling you, but you didn’t pick it up.” he put down the brush he was holding. “Markus was shot. Leo broke into the studio and tried to steal a few of my artwork. I thought he was dead…turns out he wasn’t.” you could tell it was entertaining to him. “Markus…it was inevitable. Just a question of time. I always knew he was more than just a servant.”
You didn’t say anything, keeping your eyes on him. Markus was never just an ordinary android to him. He was the perfect son, created for him by Elijah in the name of their friendship, and he filled in the position of a nurse, a companion and a child all at the same time. Markus was fascinating, you knew that, always curious, always willing to engage in Carl’s banters, always learning. To many, treating a machine like family was foreign, but your father has been a peculiar man his whole life, shedding off the expectations and choosing his own strange ways.
“I saw the speech…” your drifted off. “He made quite an impression on the public. I wonder where all of this will lead to.”
Carl turned his wheelchair around, rolling to a cabinet and opening one of the drawers, picking out a brush.
“I told him to paint something. Something from his soul, not his memory.” he held up the small piece of wood and horse hair like a trophy. “He made that.” he pointed to a canvas in the corner. “He has talent. Just like you.”
You ignored the last bit of his sentence, measuring up the painting. It was impressive, the shadows and strokes in a perfect mess of order. The screaming face, the LED on the side glowing like a beckoning light of the lost was gut wrenching and peaceful at the same time.
“The police is looking for him. And eventually when they find him, he’s gonna be destroyed.” you stepped in front of him. “You had a hand in this, Carl, and don’t you dare deny it. Markus’ deviancy is rooted in your lessons.” your last word sounded like a hiss. “Your dreamland means hell for him and his kind. Your ideas…they are venom.”
You backed away, keeping your eyes trained on his form.
“I can’t be everyone’s hero.” you said and without casting another look at Carl you stepped out of the studio.
You were the result of a drunk one night stand, a mistake, but you had something that Leo didn’t possess.
Dignity.
You decided to smoke and treat yourself with a burger downtown that definitely didn’t pass the health regulations. Chicken Feed was no better than a bodega, but Gery definitely had a talent to make the oily food full of fat taste like heaven.
Parking right next to the food truck, you got out while tucking a string of hair behind your ear. The best burgers in town - you thought, and readied yourself to resist Pedro, who was standing nearby. His bets were a losing game, you’ve never won and called his business crap one time, which didn’t leave the best impression.
“[Name]!” he already started to walk towards you, and you thought about getting back into your car to run him over. That might have shut him up. “I got a shit-hot tip for you, girl!”
You shook your head.
“I’m giving you jack shit, Pedro. Get off my ass.” you ignored his shouts, trying to convince you to invest in another bet. “Hey Gary!”
You leaned on the counter, looking at the menu.
“Got something for me?” you raised your brows playfully. “Something high in calories, I’m begging you.”
He smiled widely at you, already picking up a bun.
“Of course, sweetheart. Give me five, and you’ll get the best burger you’ve ever had.” he winked at you, turning to the stove. Your heart fluttered at the term of endearment, grateful for Gary’s easygoing nature.
“Thank God. I’m starving.” you sighed. Your eyes scanned the area and immediately noticed the two familiar silhouettes.
Connor and Hank were standing next to one of the tables under an umbrella, too far to hear their conversation, but judging from Hank’s pained expression, it wasn’t a nice chat.
“Hank’s got a new buddy.” you whipped your head to Gary, who was also looking at the pair. “He called the android a fucking poodle. Fitting if you ask me.”
Knowing what Connor was capable of, the comparison was strange. But from what you’ve learned about Hank, he wasn’t a fan of technology and machines, not after what happened to his son, therefore forcing to have a partner - an android, nonetheless- was less than ideal and certainly irked him.
Your burger was truly ready in a few minutes and biting into it felt like a long awaited relief. You edged closer to Connor and Hank, listening in on their conversation.
“Why did they make you so goofy and give you that weird voice?”
Hank’s sarcastic question was answered by the unartful Connor. His wording was your making, and hearing his carefully chosen words, you’ve wondered if you had done a better job than you’ve thought.
“[Name]!”
The RK800 was always aware of his surroundings, paying close attention to the details, and it didn’t come as a surprise that he noticed you.
“Hello Connor.” you looked at the gray haired man beside him. “Hank.”
The older man seemed to be too busy with his burger, disregarding you with a small nod. Connor was infatuated with your presence though. He knew who you were, your position at CyberLife was impressive and your hand seemed to reach far, but he was made to ignore non-important humans and details, his focus was supposed to be solely on his mission. But somehow you managed to get under his artificial skin, always appearing to be a complicated enigma, leaving him to wonder if you were truly who you showed to be or if it was just a well created facade, made for distraction and deception. He was troubled by you, and the software instability notifications in his vision didn’t help his case.
“How’s the investigation? Found anything?” Hank’s mouth was full, his chewing louder than his words.
“I’ve just finished the report, I’ve already sent it to the captain. I found nothing.” you shook your head in false disbelief. “It’s weird. How about you? Do you have anything new for me?”
This time Connor was the one to answer.
“We didn’t locate any other deviants.” he was scrutinizing your face, looking for a reaction.
Just a short nod, that was all you had to offer.
“But you are not giving up, are you?”
Connor was staring at you with wide brown eyes.
“I don’t intend to.” he replied. “My mission is important, and solving these cases can lead to preventing a war.”
You accepted his response without a comeback, not wanting to make the situation more awkward.
“Do you think there is a connection between them? Something tying all of these androids together?”
“What they have in common is this obsession with rA9.” Connor looked at Hank like he was asking for permission to share something intimate. “It’s almost like some kind of… myth. Something they invented that wasn’t part of their original program.
Hank finished his burger.
“Androids believing in God.” he wiped his mouth with a shaky palm. “Fuck, what’s this world come to?” he looked at you. “Have any idea what rA9 could be?”
You remembered them talking about if rA9 could be Markus back in the broadcast room a few days before, but other than that, this was the first time they mentioned it.
“No. Unfortunately I do not. We didn’t code that in their software, that’s for sure.” your lies were silky, flowing in the air like a breeze.
“An android we questioned said that rA9 will set them free to make them the masters.” Connor’s LED was yellow, and it reminded you of the last rays of light before dawn. “I just can’t figure out what it could be.”
You took a few steps back, ready to leave. You didn’t like where this conversation was heading, and you didn’t have the energy to keep up with it.
“I gotta go.”
You didn’t hear their replies, already walking to your car. After getting it, you turned up the radio to drown out your thoughts.
rA9 was not worth mentioning. And it had to stay like this.
You pulled out the glove department and pushed the black album full of photos further in. You had to find a better hiding spot incase someone decided your Honda was worth snooping in. It was the clue the police was so eager for and what you were guarding for years. The images inside were sacred to you, something that had to be locked away.
You pressed the gas pedal and glanced back in the review mirror to take one last look at the duo.
Connor and Hank were going to be a problem.

Long COVID continues to evade diagnosis through lab tests - Published Aug 12, 2024
NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Blood and urine tests are ineffective for diagnosing long COVID -- a constellation of long-term symptoms such as chronic pain, brain fog, shortness of breath and intense fatigue, a new study shows.
Without a clear tool to detect and treat the lingering illness, it remains "a major public health burden," researchers noted, affecting millions of people worldwide and significantly altering quality of life.
The new study, funded by the National Institutes of Health Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery (RECOVER) Initiative, was published Monday in Annals of Internal Medicine.
Because few large studies looked at standardized laboratory tests as a way to help diagnose long COVID, researchers decided to examine results of 25 measurements in more of than 10,000 adults enrolled in the RECOVER trial. Launched in 2021, this trial received $1.15 billion in congressional funding. At the outset, participants underwent blood tests and were deemed eligible whether or not they had a previous infection of SARS-CoV-2.
Researchers followed them with surveys every three months and laboratory samples at six, 12, 24, 36 and 48 months after infection or the date of a negative test result.
In comparing responses to questionnaires and routine test outcomes, researchers assessed whether SARS-CoV-2 resulted in repeated laboratory abnormalities regardless if participants had symptoms.
The findings basically revealed little, said the study's lead author, Dr. Kristine Erlandson, a professor of medicine and epidemiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. That's because the laboratory results were inconclusive.
However, she and co-researchers recommended in their study report that clinicians still perform routine clinical tests to rule out other treatable causes of the symptoms in post-acute sequelae of COVID-19, the scientific name for long COVID.
Researchers also uncovered evidence to bolster the notion that SARS-CoV-2 could contribute to the risk of diabetes independent of long COVID -- a link found early in the pandemic.
Individuals with prior SARS-CoV-2 also had higher urine albumin to creatinine ratio. This indicator of early kidney disease has shown an association with cardiovascular conditions in other populations.
Continuing inflammation may be a possible explanation for smell and taste disruptions and post-acute sequelae of COVID-19, researchers said.
"The diversity of symptoms may be one of the reasons that we have difficulty in truly understanding why some people develop long COVID and ultimately how we can treat it," Erlandson said.
"Long COVID is a condition currently defined by symptoms and physical exam findings, not by abnormal routine laboratory measures," she added.
"Similarly, providers should certainly not dismiss a diagnosis of long COVID based on normal clinical laboratory values."
In an accompanying editorial, researchers from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore noted that most significant unsolved enigmas of the COVID-19 pandemic pertain to the knowledge, diagnosis and treatment of long COVID.
"When [it is] severe, long COVID can be disabling, resulting in job loss or inconsistent ability to perform other roles, such as caregiving. Even in 2024, long COVID remains common," Drs. Paul Auwaerter and Annukka Antar wrote in the editorial.
"Approximately 1 in 20 U.S. adults reported persisting symptoms after COVID-19 in June 2024, with 1.4% reporting significant limitations The incidence of long COVID is 3.5% among immunized people in the Omicron era, and it can occur after reinfection."
The editorial's writers added that "importantly, acknowledging symptoms with empathy and creating a symptom management plan provides a basis for trust and hope amidst uncertainty."

In 2020, while the Covid-19 pandemic raged, a steadily growing epidemic continued to burn its path across the United States. Gun violence stole the lives of 45,222 Americans that fateful year, the worst year on record for gun deaths to that point.
The path leading to each one of these deaths is layered and complex. Each American killed by a bullet, each family grieving their loved one, deserves their own book. I never once thought that I would be one to write such a story.
I’m a gun-owning emergency physician, a father, and the cousin of a man who was shot to death. If it wasn’t for the National Rifle Association declaring in 2018 that physicians, like me, should “stay in their lane” and keep quiet about the toll of this plague, I wouldn’t have written about this subject. Yet gun violence consumes my life. I see victims of gun violence from family tragedies—children, adolescents, and adults—almost every day.
Addressing violence and death is the duty of anyone who has ever had to mend the wounds of a gunshot victim, to attempt heroic measures in the trauma bay, to meticulously care for the injured in the intensive care unit, or admit defeat in front of their loved ones. I have found no worse feeling than having to tell a mother or a father that their child has been killed by a bullet. We have practiced and perfected evidence-based medicine for decades. We should similarly practice evidence-based health policy. As it pertains to guns, some of that evidence already exists.
As a physician, I understand the limitations of science. The best research, at least in the biomedical sphere, usually requires the findings of randomized clinical trials, but running those for policymaking often isn’t feasible. In public health, the next best option is a natural experiment, in which one jurisdiction implements a policy and a similar, nearby jurisdiction does not, and policy makers can observe the difference.
The RAND Corporation’s The Science of Gun Policy—a synthesis of research into US gun policy—typically relies on these types of studies to inform its analysis. It is sometimes inconclusive, sometimes weak, sometimes strong in its assertions about the impacts of various policies that might impact lives in this epidemic of gun violence, but overall its analysis describes myriad policy levers that our current lawmakers could, and in my opinion should, swiftly implement at the federal, state, and local levels. The evidence states that we can save lives through the following:
Background checks through federal firearms licensed dealers for every firearms purchase
Licenses and permits for individuals who want to buy guns
Raising the minimum age for all firearm purchases to 21
Strong child access prevention laws
Brief waiting periods
Domestic violence restraining orders that require the relinquishing of existing firearms.
But I also believe there are two additional laws that should be repealed. Their presence in society should alarm physicians, advocates, and the people who write the laws.
Policy Prescription #1: Reverse Stand-Your-Ground Laws
On February 26, 2012, Trayvon Martin, a Black kid my height and with a similar build, was walking through a neighborhood in Sanford, Florida, after purchasing a bag of Skittles and a drink. He was essentially stalked by the captain of a local neighborhood watch patrol. Following an altercation—one that a 911 dispatcher urged the overly zealous neighborhood watchman to avoid—Martin lay on the ground, shot dead by a single bullet that traversed his heart and lung.
All of that young man’s hopes and dreams of one day becoming an aviator were struck down by a man who would eventually be acquitted of murder because of Florida’s stand-your-ground statute that created a culture of approach, provoke, and kill. Stand your ground certainly contributed to the young boy’s death.
Every state has some form of this doctrine embedded in common law, something that recognizes that an American man or woman inside their home has the right to defend themselves. But how far does that right travel outside the home? Obviously, if someone approached you attempting to harm you, no one would blame you for defending yourself. But what happens when you initiate the incident and instead of retreating, escalate a situation that never needed to exist in the first place?
The castle doctrine permits a person who is in his or her home to defend it and themselves from harm without any duty to retreat to safety. But a duty to retreat when in public exists in many states. Ohio, Wisconsin, and North Dakota, however, extend the castle doctrine to one’s personal vehicle. In some locations, largely in the South, this doctrine extends to anyplace a person has a legal right to be. Vermont and Washington, DC, remain the only two jurisdictions where a duty to retreat remains supreme.
Stand-your-ground laws clearly increase the risk of homicides, specifically firearm homicides, and have no beneficial impacts on other forms of violent crime, suggesting that these laws have not lived up to their purported deterrent effect. Lawmakers should repeal them and revert to a more limited use of the castle doctrine to prevent the deaths of their constituents.
Policy Prescription #2: Concealed Carry Laws Should Adhere to the ‘May-Issue’ Standard
Concealed carry rights are nearly universal, although 23 states and the District of Columbia require a permit to do so as of 2023. The other 27 states do not require a permit, and individuals there can concealed-carry without any form of vetting.
Concealed carry laws differ in several distinct ways, ranging in order of least to most restrictive, from permitless carry to shall-issue to may-issue laws. Among the states that require a permit for someone to carry a concealed weapon, the permitting entity, often law enforcement, must issue it to anyone who meets minimum standards in shall-issue states. In may-issue states, there is some additional leeway for law enforcement to prevent issuing a permit to people who might be a threat to themselves or others, even if they otherwise would be eligible.
Shouldn’t a small-town sheriff who knows his community well have some discretion when reviewing applications? What if there was a violent man in that community who has been drinking when he walks through the door and who, in anger, strikes his wife repeatedly, but each time the cops come out for a domestic disturbance they are told that she simply fell down the stairs? If that man applied for a concealed carry license in a shall-issue state, he would easily receive it. In a may-issue state, the sheriff might wisely reject the application and potentially save the life of that man’s wife.
Lonny Pulkrabek, a Jefferson County sheriff who laments that his state legislature voted to make Iowa a shall-issue state in 2011, no longer has any discretion when issuing a concealed carry permit. He reported that in 2018, “I’ve already got 140 people through May that have criminal records that have permits, that were issued permits to carry. We’ve seen a lot more people with lengthy criminal histories who in fact are willing to go through and jump through the hoops and get the permit to carry it legally.”
Sheriff Pulkrabek maintains a “wall of shame” of the several hundred concealed carry permits he has been forced to issue to Iowans with criminal records because the state elected to follow an inferior law over a decade ago. Researchers, utilizing the natural experiment set by the various policies in force in different states, have detected differences between states with divergent legal frameworks as they pertain to concealed carry. The Science of Gun Policy indicates that shall-issue laws, such as Iowa’s, may increase overall violent crime compared to may-issue laws. Based on the underlying research, scientists estimate that in 10 years following a transition to the more permissive type of concealed carry law, violent crime increases by up to 15 percent.
Since concealed carry laws have been shown to increase violent crime, shouldn’t we have some say about who walks around town with a hidden firearm? Unfortunately, many state legislatures haven’t been following the science. Iowa recently went even farther afield, along with Tennessee and Texas, by weakening their laws to allow for permitless carry beginning in the summer of 2021. I worry that it will lead to more crime and more bloodshed.
In the Covid pandemic, the average American learned what public health can and cannot do. We’ve witnessed the scientific method unfold before our eyes as we waited for vaccines and treatments to be created in record time. Just as public health measures—such as staying at home in the early phases of the Covid crisis, wearing masks once society began to open, and vaccination—tamed this most recent pandemic, I have faith that science can do the same thing for endemic gun violence in America.
The science compiled by the RAND Corporation suggests a series of potential legislative approaches that will save the lives of some of the over 45,000 Americans who die by firearms each year. We cannot eliminate every injury, every death, or every shooting, but we must recognize that we can positively impact our fellow Americans, save lives, and relieve suffering by implementing some very simple laws that I describe.

Hi! I've been browsing and read somewhere about some "boyfriend" that xz had in the past called Kyle. Is it true????
Hi Anon,
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
There were rumors about GG dating a man during or shortly after his college years. There were photos of them together that could be seen as 'couple-ish' and some other evidence of them being especially close.
There were also rumors of him dating a woman, also with photos of them looking 'couple-ish' and other supposed evidence.
There were also rumors that he proposed to a woman at one point. These are based on pretty flimsy circumstantial evidence. For example, there is a photo of him in a jewelry store with a woman. The 'he was dating a woman' people claim he was shopping with his girlfriend for a ring (don't guys usually buy the ring themselves before proposing?), while the 'he was dating a man' people claim a friend was helping him shop for a ring for his boyfriend (and they claim there was proof of that posted on social media).
I don't think we can rely on either of these interpretations. It was so long ago, impossible to verify now, and there are a thousand possible reasons two people could be looking at rings - including the idea that he is helping her find a gift, or they were working on a school project together.
GG also mentions in interviews that his parents were pressuring him to marry (pretty much all people in China are pressured to marry), and in one he even talked about his parents buying him a home for his future marriage. People often run with this as further evidence that he was going to propose, but from what Chinese friends have told me it's not unusual for parents in China to buy a home for their son, long before he's even in a relationship.
Not only would any future hoped for engagement first require that he could provide a home for his family, but it's typical for Chinese families (and Asian families in general) to provide for each other in whatever way they can. If parents can afford to get their child a home or help them buy a home, they will. And as the parents age, they will move in with their child's family and be cared for at home by their children.
People will make claims and cook up stories that best support their narrative of who GG is. It happens on both sides of the gay/straight argument. I find all this so pointless.
Even the photos are inconclusive. GG is known to be huggy and affectionate with his friends. Whether he has his arm around a man or a woman, it says nothing about whether they are dating.
We should also remember that a lot of dating rumors - in fact, almost ALL dating rumors - are crafted by people trying to harm GG and DD. Even rumors from the past. So we should be ultra careful with those claims - gay or straight - and take them with a huge grain of salt.
Here's the bottom line as far as I'm concerned: GG and DD's dating history is irrelevant to their current life, and irrelevant to their relationship, and irrelevant to being a turtle. These stories can only ever be speculation and conjecture and theory. Nothing will ever be confirmed. So - from my perspective - it's a waste of time to even bother digging into it.
It's also - in my personal opinion - a bit off limits. Those events took place prior to his becoming famous. Others are free to form their own opinions, but mine is that it's really none of our business. I totally understand the curiosity, but it's just not something I'm going to go digging around for.

Codex Entry #003 | "Angirasu Bōryū" (Anguirus)
[This Series is heavily inspired by Trollmans’ “FOLLY OF MAN” series on DeviantArt, so be sure to follow him if you enjoyed my work]
Species: Angirasu Bōryū (Anguirus) Subtitle: The Indomitable Mountain First Modern Sighting: December 30, 1956 Height: 90.24 Metres Weight: 72,102.46 Tonnes The Anguirus species are believed to be the first mammals to reach true gargantuan proportions. The species' ancestors are believed to be some of the earliest members of the Pholidota order, which notably contains pangolins; as such, the two species share many similarities. Though, many features are quite remarkably the results of convergent evolution. Similar traits allowed them to thrive in very different niches. Anguirus’ ancestors are believed to have been around the size of a medium dog before the K-Pg Extinction Event, evolving to large sizes sometime after. It is theorised that they became truly colossal to fill in empty niches left by Kaiju that either became extinct or dormant with the end of the Mesozoic. However, there is a shocking lack of transitional fossils to help understand the evolution of this kaiju. Only one other possible ancestral fossil has been discovered, an elephant-sized creature dating to only 57 million years ago. Such a radical growth is unusual, as this process would typically take tens of millions of years. Another abnormal peculiarity of the fossils is the fact that they were found in a large cavern a mile underground within the Yunnan Province of China. No other terrestrial mammal has been found to live this deep in caves, not to mention any food sources able to support an animal of this size. The Anguirus lineage seems to be a true anomaly within Earth’s ecosystem. The species do seem to have quite a few traits that would benefit a subterranean lifestyle, though it is thought they may now be purely vestigial, as there is a very low possibility of any major terrestrial hyperfaunal ecosystems within the Earth’s crust. A few hyperfaunal researchers have suggested that the pseudoscientific “Hollow Earth Theory” may have some truth to it, but as of the current moment, all evidence remains superficial. Anguirus have powerful clawed arms that seem to be specialized for burrowing beneath the ground, in fact, they seem to be able to cut through buildings and even bedrock with relative ease. They also have somewhat poor eyesight, with bright lights shown to be effective in stunning them. This seems to be balanced out with incredibly strong hearing, meaning that modern cityscapes tend to disorient and anger them. Due to this, Anguirus primarily avoid human settlements, though it is unknown where they reside. Anguirus have large whiskers covering much of their face, this paired with their powerful noses helps to locate food and water within the ground, this is theorised to be the purpose of some of their seemingly subterranean traits. Unlike most other kaiju, Anguirus seems to feed off of other living things, even when full-grown. The tongue and digestive system of the species seem to line up with primarily insectivorous animals, suggesting the existence of invertebrate kaiju. Despite Anguirus seemingly being adapted to eat hyperfaunal arthropods, Anguirus have sharp, conical teeth with an incredibly strong bite force (exact bite force is inconclusive) that allows them to grapple onto opponents with minimal effort, similar to the jaws of a crocodile. The agility of Anguirus cannot be understated either, despite their large and seemingly lumbering build, they are actually one of the fastest terrestrial kaiju, able to outrun most opponents. They can also jump to heights upwards of 250 metres, creating shockwaves as they hit the ground. Another very unique quality of Anguirus is their ability to roll into a ball and continue moving, even being shown to launch themselves into the air in this form.
The outward appearance of Anguirus alone can be presented as evidence to the trials its ancestors had to endure to grow to such towering heights. Such a drastic increase in size meant that these animals would have to deal with new threats and predators. Gradually, its ancestors had evolved to prevent injuries from attacks and fights through the formation of hair-derived scales along their bodies. Quite remarkably, these have been shown to have evolved independently from pangolins. In addition, some scales also have formed horn-like formations atop them. Several more horns can also be found along the back and side of their horns, as well as a nasal horn that is theorised to have possibly been an offensive adaptation. Recent tests have shown that the spiked plating along the back and head of Anguirus can absorb large amounts of heat and radiation and either disperse it through the air, or reflect it back towards its source, further studies into this could break ground in anti-kaiju defense and weaponry. A final offensive ability used by this species is the “ultrasonic roar”. Theorised to have once been used as a form of echolocation before being converted into an attack, the ultrasonic roar is loud enough to rupture the eardrums of some species, the soundwaves are even visible without any sort of specialised equipment. The intelligence of Anguirus can often be compared to that of horses and other equids, due to a seeming ability to use body language, pheromones, grunts, snarls, and roars to communicate with other species it encounters. Anguirus have also been shown to have an incredible memory, as well as some level of advanced problem-solving. However, it is not common to see them demonstrate their intelligence due to being highly temperamental towards most species and having few issues that are unable to be solved with brute force alone. Although it is not unusual to see Anguirus living solitarily, it is thought from fossil ancestors that they may live in family groups, mated pairs, or small herds.
Well, I hope y'all have enjoyed the Anguirus codex entry for GODZILLA: Age of Monsters. I'm sorry for the long wait, I've been very busy with my freshman year of highschool. Expect new posts relatively soon, Age of Monsters will be undergoing a small soft reboot (Fixing the Godzilla design, creating a distinct style, changing a few story details, etc). As always, likes are appreciated, follows and repost even more so. Thanks for reading!
Tune in for more updates and future posts. Peace and love! ✌️🏽

“Then, in 2011, researchers published new findings that studied individuals who identified as trans, but who had not yet taken cross-sex hormones.(10) In it, they found that the white matter microstructure of women who identified as trans was more similar to males than females. Three years later, other neurologists discovered that the white matter microstructure of some who identify as trans was somewhere in between that of men and woman.(11) Still other studies have shown that the brains of people who identify as trans are aligned with their biological sex rather than their gender identity.(12)
Drs. Lawrence Mayer and Paul McHugh summed up the current state of research on the subject, writing, "[T]he current studies on associations between brain structure and transgender identity are small, methodologically limited, inconclusive, and sometimes contradictory."(13) They added that the studies to date "demonstrated weak correlations between brain structure and cross-gender identification. These correlations do not provide any evidence for a neurobiological basis for cross-gender identification."(14) Numerous limitations within the current body research led the American College of Pediatricians to conclude:
A properly designed brain difference study needs to be prospective and longitudinal; it would require a large randomly selected population-based sample of a fixed set of individuals, would follow them with serial brain imaging from infancy through adulthood, and would have to be replicated. Not one brain study to date meets a single one of these requirements to be considered rigorous research design.(15)

it’s almost the 8th so happy international women’s day to the major resurgence of absolute sexism and misogyny that the recent situation with christian horner has brought to the female fans and employees of f1 .
regardless of where you stand on the sketchy af handlings of the horner issues the potential of a false claim from a female employee has provided an excuse for male fans to harass and degrade female fans expressing their discomfort with the situation and the treatment of the women involved- particularly in the doxxing and bullying of the woman who initially submitted the claim before the investigation had even ended. Women across tumblr, twitter, tiktok and all have been pushed into retracting their feelings, deleting their posts and videos on the situation from the sheer scale of hate and harassment at the hands of misogynistic fans because ‘allegations ruins men’s lives’. Completely ignorant are they to the fact that they are active participants in the ruining of a potential victims life by exposing and sharing her personal details, and continuing create environments where women are unable to speak about their experiences with sexual harassment and assault .
Ignorant are they to the fact that they are maintaining patriarchal standards that they claim are non existent to ensure that women understand their issues are not important . the 2% chance that an allegation is false is by far the greater are more believable problem than a woman experiencing sexual misconduct at the hands of her employer . not to mention that the majority of sexual assault and rape cases do not revive a sentencing . that doesn’t mean they didn’t happen or that the victim lied. just that the board saw the evidence as inconclusive or not enough to support prosecution . sa and rape have the lowest prosecution rates of violent crimes . also quickly a reminder he was never cleared. huge complaint was dismissed. the word innocent was never used and the lack of transparency on the investigation doesn’t tell us anything of his innocence .
the responses from drivers again go on to validate misogynistic men’s feelings by labelling the potential sexual misconduct of a team principle as ‘noise and distractions’ or that it doesn’t matter to them . it’s irrelevant. and yes i understand that they mean they don’t want to comment on the situation because of its personal nature but that’s not what they’re saying . by trivialising matters of sexual misconduct as mere chatter and sympathising with a potential abuser it’s speaking to your female fans that you are not an advocate for their safety . it says they don’t take sexual harassment seriously .
what they could have said was ‘the matter is not something i’m personally involved in so i can’t provide insight or comment other than my hopes for it to be resolved quickly and fairly with full transparency’ . instead their responses directly downplayed the situation at hand, ignorantly dismissing the weight of the situation its its affect on women across formula 1 by essentially saying ‘who cares’ and provide pathway for misogynistic fans to follow suit .
formula 1 is a sport which in recent years has leaned into welcoming women into the sport, and this is seen by the rotated dynamic of women in f1 from ‘something good to look at before the race’ as comments regarding the grid girls would have it to a grid of 16 cars fully backed by all f1 teams for women to compete in their own formula racing series . this has welcomed a lot more women into the space. however, it cannot force attitudes to change . the only way we will see real change in f1 is to encourage personal growth for both fans and employees wether they be drivers, mechanics whoever . the work needs to be done to truly welcome women into the space that is currently occupied by them in motorsport . and they can start by taking us seriously .

Anthony Fauci has sparked a backlash from politicians and commentators after saying that wearing face masks protects individuals from spreading coronavirus, but that there was inconclusive evidence to suggest it prevented a pandemic spiraling at a whole population level.
The former chief medical adviser to the president, who was regularly the face of the government's response to the pandemic, told CNN on Saturday that "an individual protecting themselves or protecting them from spreading it, there is no doubt that masks work," amid a spike in infections of the virus and speculation that fresh COVID restrictions could be on the horizon.
"Fauci admits that masks don't work for the public at large but still absurdly claims masks work on an individual basis," Rand Paul, a Republican senator for Kentucky who was suspended from YouTube in 2021 for questioning mask wearing, wrote on Sunday in one of many critical responses to the interview. "More subterfuge."
Some private institutions, hospital operators and colleges have reintroduced the requirements for staff or visitors to wear masks while at their sites to limit the spread of the new variants—EG.5 and BA.2.86—which have recently emerged. The moves sparked concerns that nationwide restrictions could be set to return.
In the week to August 19, there were more than 15,000 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 infections across the U.S., the most recent monitoring figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show—a rise of nearly 19 percent on the week prior.
Admissions have been steadily rising since July, but are far below the highest peaks of the pandemic and appear to be localized into hotspots. The highest number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in any week since the virus first emerged was over 150,000 in January 2022, and the highest weekly total this year was over 44,000 in the first week of January.
"We're starting to see a surge of cases...about an 18 percent or 19 percent increase in hospitalizations, certainly going in the wrong direction," Fauci told CNN host Michael Smerconish on Saturday.
While he noted that "we're not talking about mandates or forcing anybody," he said he hoped that if cases were to grow to a "reasonably high level" that the CDC recommended mask wearing again, that individuals "abide by the recommendation and take into account the risk to themselves and to their families."
A CDC spokesperson told Newsweek on Thursday it currently has no intention to call for a return of mandated mask-wearing, but didn't deny that this might change if cases of the new variants were to rise significantly. Fauci previously said he thought there was "not going to be the tsunami of cases that we've seen" before.
Despite his advocacy of mask wearing, Fauci was questioned about the diverging views on the effectiveness of face masks at limiting the spread of COVID-19.
There are differing opinions among the scientific community as to the efficacy of mask wearing, though many agree that when used in tandem with other measures—such as washing hands, social distancing and vaccination—they help stop the virus spreading.
"When you're talking about at the population level, ... the data are less strong than knowing that if you look on a situation as an individual protecting themselves or protecting them from spreading it, there is no doubt that masks work," the leading immunologist said.
"Different studies give different percentages of advantage of wearing it," he added. "But there's no doubt that the weight of the studies, and there have been many studies, indicate the benefit of wearing masks."
However, he was probed on one particular study, first published by the Cochrane Library in 2020 and updated this year, which found that wearing even medical-grade face masks "makes little or no difference" to infection rates. Smerconish cited an interview with The New York Times in which the study's lead author, Tom Jefferson, an epidemiologist at the University of Oxford, said: "There is just no evidence that they make any difference."
Fauci responded that "there's no doubt that there are many studies that show that there is an advantage" at the level of individual infections, but "when you're talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong."
He added: "But we're not talking about that, we're talking about an individual's effect on their own safety."
"Even the [mainstream media] (CNN) are rowing back on the effectiveness of mask wearing mandates," Andrew Bridgen, a British member of parliament who was suspended in January for spreading coronavirus misinformation, wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Unscientific and harmful."
"We know he lied back in 2020," Chad Prather, a host on right-wing outlet Blaze TV, alleged. "Guess what. He's lying NOW. Anything to stay relevant." Meanwhile, doctors who had previously opposed mask mandates expressed vindication at Fauci's concession.
Fauci told Newsweek that he was "not interested" in responding to the critics, but noted: "Even Cochrane itself put out a statement that the study referred to by Smerconish on CNN that masks do not work was 'widely misinterpreted.'" _______________________

Some thoughts about The Gals (Amy, Rouge, and Blaze) in Project: Shadow #051115:
Amy Rose:
- High-ranking GUN official. She's head of equipment testing and GUN's most experienced strategist/mechanic.
- She built "Metal Sonic"(That's not it's name to her but once one guy pointed out the similarities it stuck.) As a way to contain/control Chaos Energy. It wasn't supposed to be sentient. (As far as GUN knows, Metal was scrapped.)
- Tries often and in vain to get any of the boys to wear pants.
- Ivo and her are at a stalemate in terms of blackmailing each other. Ivo knows about Metal, and Amy knows about Ivo's little Chaos project. They've called a tentative truce in the pursuit of pooling knowledge about Chaos Energy.
- PLEASE put on some pants for the love of GAIA.
Blaze:
- Chaos Spirit from the future. No physical form; Instead she's made entirely of fire that's condensed around a Chaos Emerald.
- Silver's "guardian angel" / AA battery. She powered his time machine and is currently dormant from the power draw.
- Unclear if she's actually sentient or if Silver just makes it seem that way, as she cannot speak outside of telepathy.
- Psychic link with Silver. Protective. Unstable.
Rouge:
- Chaos Spirit, a cross between a siren and a harpy.
- Loves causing mischief + stealing shiny things.
- Possibly eats people. Evidence inconclusive. Always evades capture somehow.
- Vanishes in the dark.
- Possibly a shape-shifter? She's able to warp perceptions of her and appear as something else. Eye-witness accounts of her are almost always wrong.
- Commonly referred to as "alluring, like a siren singing at sea".

I know the burning question is: do they actually still live together or not.
Short answer: inconclusive but Genos may live in Saitama's household or within HA quarters.
Long answer: I can infer a lot but only so much so here goes.
Saitama customarily offers tea to visitors, but Genos is the only one who gets a pillow to sit on. Saitama doesn't seem surprised to see Genos come around. Genos also comes around shirtless, but seeing as he normally still wears a shirt and murata-sensei graced us with shirtless Genos panel just to show off the design, he would have to have a shirt somewhere close by. It would be weird for Genos to walk around shirtless all the time, so perhaps he came back home to grab a piece of clothing he did not have at Kuseno's place.
Inconclusive because for artistic licence, Murata-sensei showed us Genos new design instead of Genos wearing anything in his torso, so there's that.
These clothes in the background are also Saitama's clothes, because Genos never wears sleeves. So the coat hangers Saitama scavenged could be for his own clothes that they managed to scavenge and not for Genos' and his clothes.
After refusal to eat with Forte, Saitama invited Genos for dinner after indeterminate amount of time, but here is where things get interesting because as far as we know, Saitama still does not have a phone yet Genos does.
Genos would've have to have been in close proximity and visited Saitama just then and gotten an invitation for dinner or actually still live with Saitama and gotten home at some point. Assuming this happens after the trio decide to bail, awfully convenient timing for them to not live in close proximity.
We see that Genos no longer has the bag for the stash of notebooks he carries around, so instead of lugging them from Kuseno and back, he would probably want to store them in close proximity. He has room in his getup for some notebooks that he often carries with him, so this is also inconclusive piece of evidence.
However, together with the lack of shirt, being the only one who gets the pillow to sit on and the offer for dinner conveniently when Genos happens to be around, I'd have to conclude that Genos currently lives within HA Headquarters in close enough proximity to Saitama or he never saw a reason to move out, hence coming back home after annihilating a dragon level demonic tree and not wearing a shirt.

Seeing as he’s benefitted so much from this flexible working opportunity, is he going to come out and champion this for the general public? Acknowledging his privilege would go a long way here I think. People can’t help what they’re born into but they can do a lot with the platform they’re given.
I wonder if he will do that as well. As it seems another PR fiasco waiting to happen. The Queen was dying of cancer but had all her children working full time.
Whenever articles like this come out I am reminded of what Wills was like when he actually had to work and had weeks off at a time to the dismay of his colleagues.
‘He’s hardly ever on shift. He was very enthusiastic to begin with but it tailed off. It’s supposed to be four on, four off but with the Duke it’s more off than on. He had at least four weeks off over Christmas, which has to be staffed the same as normal weeks. It’s fine that he gets a bit of special treatment but it’s beginning to really annoy some people. The rumour is that he’s just a bit bored of it.’ ”
And then the royal household shot back at claims we was lazy by saying he needed mandatory rest days for his job resulting in the Civil Aviation Authority having to shoot back and saying “When they are having rest days their time is their own, and they can do what they want, including carrying out royal duties.”
I can’t imagine this level of unprofessionalism.
The whole thing I’ve felt about this is what a stark contrast it is to the plebs they rule over - from preventative chemo when we have people waiting months on the NHS (from personal experience experience - I had a scam last year to see if I have a form of gynaecological cancer. I was told the scan was clear. Last month I was told that the scan was actually inconclusive and needs redoing as they couldn’t see the part the needed to but no one told me until nearly a year later) to partners who get punished for taking time off work to care for a loved one.
I understand that they are rich and powerful enough to do what they want. But it’s rather galling to see such a stark contrast between ruler and subject.
He really does seem like he’s not interested in the whole thing doesn’t he?
He's only interested in the income and power that comes with it, he'll never give it up he's spent his whole adult life trying to do as little as possible. The moment he got access to the Prince of Wales duchy $ he was no longer beholden to his father and can now redefine expectations. The bar has been set pretty low and he has the British Tabloid Media propping him up and running PR for him, there's also evidence that they spend a fair chunk of cash employing bots online propping them up and attacking anyone who says anything negative. Between the BTM and the royal sychophants he's been getting away with it and will continue to. Countdown 3,2,1 to one of those sycophants leaving me a comment .....
I think he should have to follow around people who have to keep working while also caregiving for sick or elderly family members while also juggling raising kids and keeping up on other obligations. I’m sure he would be shocked — most of us can’t step back to the extent he gets to do so. As the future king, he should understand the lives of the majority of the people. Read the room.
Considering their work is mostly just turning up and being “seen”. How exactly is work from home gonna help anyone?
He’s going to do some twitch streaming.
I just learned that 600 organizations sponsored by QE2 have not yet been taken over. Some are very important but there are no signs of any restructuring, selection and elimination plans. People criticize W for this instead of C because W is the one who shows no interest in continuing to show up and sponsor organizations. William currently only works as Chairman, managing the principality and two projects Earthshot and Housing for the Homeless. W does not take over King Charles' projects like he is PoW, so King is basically overloaded and cannot take over anymore.
If he wants to work without being seen, then the real question is what type of "behind the scenes work" is he actually doing? Because every time he talks about a topic in public, he only seems to speak popular talking points that even someone without knowledge can say. He doesn't speak like someone who really knows the topic of discussion in depth.
That's why Earthshot being a "passion project" is laughable. His speeches are so shallow. It's the same with Kate and Early Years and those lame five questions that took some ten years to come up with. Everything they say is like a total no-brainer. So, what work are they really doing behind the scenes?
I think people whose spouses have cancer should be able to take health leave and its v sad for people who live in a country where they can't. But I would give him a lot more grace if he and Kate weren't famously Duchess Dolittle and Workshy William. This has been a habit for years. Its not like Anne got sick and disappeared from public life
Yep. He has been on Easter holiday since March 23 to April 17. Plus, January entirely off. It doesn't look good.
My friend has breast cancer (we’re in the UK). She’s having chemo and is the same age as Kate. She has to have fairy major surgery after the chemo and has had to go back to work because she has to save her sick leave for the recovery from the operation. This is during chemotherapy. This country is completely broken and lacks compassion for everyone (like most of the Western World) but then expects an exception to be made for the royal family who are loaded and don’t even use the NHS and have an enormous amount of monetary resources.
I have huge compassion for Kate. I think she’s been incredible over a long period of time in a job I would absolutely loathe personally (whether people say she wanted the gig or not) - but I don’t think William has had her back very much recently from what I can see objectively, particularly over the recent PR debacle. And, being honest, I wonder why that is. I think we’re fed total BS by the press over who these people really are.
I don’t think you can be raised like William or Harry and have any kind of perspective. It’s just logical that you can’t. They had a terrible childhood to be honest. And there are people who hold responsibility for that.
But yes, absolutely, if Kate wants him there, he should be allowed to support his family, no questions asked. I just wonder if she really does?
Can someone who knows actually share what his duties are and how he can work while not being seen?
Can someone who knows actually share what his duties are and how he can work while not being seen?
He looks at the country with somber frowns on his face and in return the country looks back at him with approving nods. That is what we call a symbiotic relationship.
How quickly William forgets the way he and Kate were ripped apart prior to the great Sussex Split. He can do what he wants, but this is inevitably not going to go well and he is definitely no longer a young and handsome sympathetic figure.
Yeah that one reporter said it perfectly when they were speculating about why Will didn’t go to that funeral that William feels he can do what he likes because the press let’s him get away with everything.
"Working from home"? How stupid do they think people are? waits to see the defense(s) royalists come up with
Is she sicker than anticipated? Because Charles seems to have actual cancer versus "cancer was present" and "preventative chemo," and he is "working" more than William.
Also, don't forget that Camilla has also been out and about and "working," during his treatments.
Something is weird.
The press’s analysis of him is willfully ignorant as usual. It used to be the kids, now it’s Kate’s diagnosis. Will is telling us his approach to royal “work” is not and will not be the same as the King or Queen Elizabeth. This is his plan for the monarchy.
They've been doing it since he left Eaton. It's one invented excuse after another. Anything to excuse his refusal to do any royal "work" so they don't have to criticize him, and he can keep his "Golden Boy" image.
let him enjoy a normal college experience!
he's only in his 20s! He's got time!
He's an ambulance pilot, let him have fun with that for a bit!
He's not the heir! He's only the son of the heir!
he just got married!
He's only in his 30s! He's got time!
he has babies at home!
he has small children at home!
he's not the King, his father is!
His wife has cancer!
What's next?
Will is telling us his approach to royal “work” is not and will not be the same as the King or Queen Elizabeth.
Mmhmm well the press and royalists' response to Will telling them he' would rather be a lazy, hands off King is for him to reconsider his entitlement and privilege - reality check for this 40 something year old Prince
Bingo. Start as you mean to go on...which means doing nothing and collecting taxpayer money while you do it.
William’s work ethic is going to be a catalyst to reform the UK government :/ EII had to be seen to be believed - William believes in not being seen? The republicans will gain momentum with a King who does nothing.
To repeat what I said a month or so ago when they claimed William was focused on “his work, not social media:” what work?

Reference archived on our website (follow the link to see more than 1,000 open-access covid studies! daily updates!)
This study is currently being misquoted by a lot of science reporters who are claiming it's the cause of all long covid symptoms: this shows inflammation and lasting damage in the brainstem following a covid infection is responsible for many *neurological* symptoms of Long covid such as heart palpitations and loss of sensation.
Abstract
Post-mortem studies have shown that patients dying from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection frequently have pathological changes in their CNS, particularly in the brainstem. Many of these changes are proposed to result from para-infectious and/or post-infection immune responses. Clinical symptoms such as fatigue, breathlessness, and chest pain are frequently reported in post-hospitalized coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. We propose that these symptoms are in part due to damage to key neuromodulatory brainstem nuclei. While brainstem involvement has been demonstrated in the acute phase of the illness, the evidence of long-term brainstem change on MRI is inconclusive. We therefore used ultra-high field (7 T) quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) to test the hypothesis that brainstem abnormalities persist in post-COVID patients and that these are associated with persistence of key symptoms.
We used 7 T QSM data from 30 patients, scanned 93–548 days after hospital admission for COVID-19 and compared them to 51 age-matched controls without prior history of COVID-19 infection. We correlated the patients’ QSM signals with disease severity (duration of hospital admission and COVID-19 severity scale), inflammatory response during the acute illness (C-reactive protein, D-dimer and platelet levels), functional recovery (modified Rankin scale), depression (Patient Health Questionnaire-9) and anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7).
In COVID-19 survivors, the MR susceptibility increased in the medulla, pons and midbrain regions of the brainstem. Specifically, there was increased susceptibility in the inferior medullary reticular formation and the raphe pallidus and obscurus. In these regions, patients with higher tissue susceptibility had worse acute disease severity, higher acute inflammatory markers, and significantly worse functional recovery.
This study contributes to understanding the long-term effects of COVID-19 and recovery. Using non-invasive ultra-high field 7 T MRI, we show evidence of brainstem pathophysiological changes associated with inflammatory processes in post-hospitalized COVID-19 survivors.

Notes prepared by Cheryl R. Bennet and John Montgomery (née Bennett). This is the final section on Embodiment Class
The first creation: Laughing Jack
Embodiment of Acedia/Emptyness/Existinal Nihalisim
Abilities: inconclusive evidence
Height: Inconclusive evidence
Weight: inconclusive evidence
Weapons: Inconclusive evidence
(1) Insufficient evidence exists to support conclusive findings. We believe this entity to be the mate of the fifth creation and the parent of the child currently in our care, However, given the entity's nature, the validity of this parentage is questionable.
...Recalling his name invariably triggers intensely disturbing nightmares. I only remember vacant eyes and teeth. And the laughter. That horrific, persistent laughter echoes relentlessly in my mind. The unsettling, distorted lullaby...
Teeth that bite and claws that catch.
Claws...it's claws...
....Ms Strayhorn...
...I remember. My boss has one in her possession...
A six-inch claw, sharp as a razor.
Why am I bleeding? Where is it coming from??
Why am I cold?
This box I hold in containment... is evil. Pure evil
Analysis of the antique wooden artifact reveals a malevolent Zalgean inscription beneath pre-existing children's artwork. Team assessment indicates the sigils exhibit an intensified red hue at close range, accompanied by a strong ferrous and ammoniacal odor, decomposition byproducts, and other airborne toxins requiring respiratory protection. I experienced dizziness and nausea in proximity to the artifact. Intermittent emissions of black sulfurous smoke have been observed.
John...do you have these dreams.
My subconscious is plagued by disturbing auditory hallucinations, a cacophony of distorted lullabies, and the anguished cries

~~~
I find it interesting that the definition of consort went from "spouse", to "gf/bf", to "just some animal you're currently fucking".
There was a lot of conjecture in "The Apothecary Diaries". I really enjoy mystery anime. That series really drew me in. The period-piece setting was also very comforting. I was truly transported. I was languid that week -- I really didn't want to get up and do anything -- "The Apothecary Diaries" was a great temporary escape for me.
There's 'say one thing, mean another' and there's 'say one thing, mean no thing'. The latter is doublespeak. Just STFU please.
