Art, unity and family keep our spirit strong:
Family Portrait of Susan’s family
I would like to share a group of family portrait captured by me for Susan. Unquestionably, images play an important and effective role in passing information. The emotion, the composition, the objects, the colour and the light & shadow construct the picture. One picture can tell a lot. That’s the reason why I am so attracted by photography.
It was such a pleasure for me to shoot this group of portraits of Susan’s family in September 2019. Susan’s family is consisted of herself, her husband Sackey, and their lovely children. They currently live in Australia. Susan is from Australia, and Sackey is from Ghana in West Africa. Both of them are contemporary dancers, which is why they met and fell in love with each other.
Susan told me that Sackey chose to settle down in Australia for marrying her - he has not been home for six years. It was difficult at a time for her because sometimes she can’t understand some of the nuances that make Sackey who he is; however, they’ve chosen to created a family and community with the value of not only the enjoyment of life but also the unity of global humanity.
This family composition conveys the idea that love between human beings is something more powerful than cultural and racial differences.
The happiness, creative, and harmonious life moment created by Susan’s family is a small reflection of the world nowadays, where internationalisation could bring people from different families, countries, and cultures together. From this, the idea of the sense of belonging and global humanity is revealed from the bond between human beings. It reminds us of the essential statue of human beings: we had been developed and will continue to develop together as a whole.
The below is the interview (selected) between me and Susan
How do you enjoy living with someone from a totally different culture?
Well that's interesting. I think when you marry into a family you become part of a community but marrying someone from another country and then they move to your country - there is no community or family with them. So really, I have married an individual who is now separated from his community. This is very difficult at times - it's hard for me to understand some of the nuances that make him who he is and it is lonely for our family without knowing grandparents and uncles and aunts.
However, it is also an opportunity to make a new family and a new community. We really enjoy meeting other families who are similar to ours, live music and festivals which focus on he values of our family - a global humanity, enjoyment of life, unity.
Did life change after having children?
Yes! One was fun, two is so much work! They bring us a lot of joy and it is wonderful to see a human grow from a baby to small children. Our children have made us a family and we are so grateful to them for that. It does make things harder, like traveling but we know it is a short period in life that they are dependent so we are enjoying being in Australia for this time.
There is lots of art in our home, what role does art have in your family?
Creativity is very important to us - Sackey and my ability to use creativity to keep our spirits high and connect others is very important to the way we live. Sackey says 'art keeps our spirit strong' and this is an important skill to pass on to our girls.

Cultural dissimilarities often affect the seamless coordination of business operations and the coherence of business services and brands that is delivered to prospective consumers.
Various investigations into the nature of business negotiations in foreign countries reveals that while effective communication skill is crucial a clear insight into the framework in which these negotiations exist is required for lucrative deals.
If your business is planning on going global, it is imperative that you are effectively equipped with knowledge of the cultures you would be interacting with.
There are numerous difficulties that an organization would encounter when it begins business interactions and operations in a foreign culture: some of the difficulties that may impact negatively on business are dissimilarities in semantic, customs, values, perceptions and inclinations.

Cultural difference is a funny thing. Often had this conversation with hubby on how I'm the youngest among peers to actually get married and on occasion that makes things awkward. Average Asians focus on studies, career and dating takes a backseat till things are more stable in their lives. They feel like they can't handle sharing their lives with another person if they can't even handle themselves. But for hubby, it's different, he's at the average age where the music is slowing and everyone is trying to find a significant other half before they're left 'forever alone'. I'm his reason for working hard and setting goals for a future family, he often brag about his wife and how I'm his motivation on days that are just really hard. Really, both ideology have their pro and cons and it just boils down to individuals I guess~ Two months apart since being married is truly a test of patience though. I love you. ❤️ ~~~ Photo credit to @blue_optic_photography #mrsdycio #longdistancerelationship #missinghim #monthasary #weddingphotography #culturalexchange #culturedifferences

In Love With Contrast
I still get scared
when I realise that someone is different from me
in a way that doesn’t make them happy
or please them
the way it pleases me.
I start thinking really
really
really fast,
as if desperately trying to find
an answer that will assure me
and comfort them
that I’m not that weird
that different
that silly
or that unexplainable.
Hopefully
my thoughts slow down
and I find one that might make the most sense
to the both of us
Hopefully
after you leave
you’re still convinced
that I’m not that difficult
or too hard on your head
and especially your heart.
I pray
that you will always give me a second chance
to prove to you
that I belong here
& that I
belong with you.

Balinese Culture
Bali culture is totally unique and permeates through every aspect of life. The influence of Hinduism the main religion is evident in the music, drama, art, costumes and festivals which take place daily. You'll encounter a festival almost every day, celebrating the cycle of birth, death and rebirth. The culture of Bali is unique. People say that the Balinese people have reached self-content.Bali CultureDifferent from any other island in largely Muslim Indonesia, Bali is a pocket of Hindu religion and culture, though Balinese Hinduism is so far removed from the original Indian variety that the casual eye will be hard put to spot any similarities.Every aspect of Balinese life is suffused with religion, but the most visible signs are the tiny offerings (sesajen) of flowers, glutinous rice and salt in little bamboo leaf trays, found in every Balinese house, restaurant, souvenir stall and airport check-in desk. They are set out and sprinkled with holy water no less then three times a day, before every meal. Balinese dance and music are also fairly famous. As on Java, the gamelan orchestra and wayang kulit (shadow puppet) theater dominate.

Reposted from @melinatedconscioussociety - The scandal of wealthy parents paying money to a figure to bribe elite college and university coaches to admit their kids — or paying folk to take the ACT and SAT tests for their children — is corrupt and immoral. But let me tell you what’s far worse and far more corrupt and immoral: exploiting young (mostly black) athletes who bring in millions of dollars yearly into the coffers of their colleges and universities while getting little more than an education (and often not even that) while coaches reap millions of dollars in contracts and financial reward from sneaker companies while the players risk life and limb and get little financial benefit and huge penalties for offending the slightest rules. THAT is the far bigger scandal, and the far more immoral situation for our young folk! Repost from @michaelericdyson #TheRealScandalInHigherEd #ReformTheNCAA • • HIGH CHIEF... Financial courses should be taught in our local grass roots organizations not just to educate our people on how to save but how to grow wealth for generations and uplift your communities. If you make it big remember the obligations to change something from whence you came. Don't just leave. Village culture must return to our community.
