(Quick answer to avoid allowing this one to ferment in the drafts for a full year:) he’s cool! Kind of ridiculous but not to the point that the pointed gratuity which defines the comic loses its punch. Full blown Oedipus theme with this one, offering the “Child” side of the coin to Coyle’s cold, sadistic “Father” and Gooseberry’s unhinged, emotionally manipulative “Mother.” Art is excellent: their execution of “Outlast comes to New Orleans” is so aesthetically pleasing I read the comic as art without looking at the text on my the read through. Those rich disarming turquoise panels, the golden sunrays over the sickened narrators vs. the murky color pallet of Franco’s private scenes, the overblown faces barely differentiated from the scenery as if everyone were some sick caricature of themselves. Wish they relied less on fetishist horror + the focus on his bodily impotence as it progressed, but it was a solid effort.

Days before Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film Dil Bechara lands, here are two of his movies that you need to watch. I remember watching MS Dhoni: The Untold Story in Bihar, the actor’s – and the cricketer’s – home. The genteel multiplex audiences would burst into raptures every time Sushant Singh Rajput would hit MS Dhoni’s signature helicopter shot, and the film’s climactic World Cup win had people on their feet and in the aisles. But who were they cheering for -- Dhoni or the man who was playing Dhoni? Perhaps that was the biggest win of the actor because, for those 3 hours and 40 minutes, he had transformed into the cricketer. Dhoni biopic was a blockbuster, one of the biggest hits of Sushant’s career but this piece is not about that film or Kai Po Che, or Chhichhore – a film that will be bittersweet for his fans after his death.
