I actually don't remember whether canon clarified this or not, so this may be wrong, but I actually think she was undercover from the start. I think she used being 'undercover' to give herself the excuse to perpetrate all those harms on Betty - making her come to the rescue to witness her almost-drowning during the baptism, to permanently break the trust between Polly and Betty, abandoning her, stealing her college money - because I also believe that Alice despised both her daughters. She told them and herself that she 'loved' them but she was so furious and damaged by what she herself went through that she wanted to make sure her daughters suffered too. The Cycle, you know?

I have a headcanon that's been spurred up by one of my playthroughs. For whatever ungodly reason, Narinder came to me with the Terrified of Death trait. I have an angsty HC and a silly one. The silly one is that he's always had an ick for dead things and whenever he saw the lamb die he'd be like "oh god... Oh god that's disgusting... I'm. Gonna be sick-" and Aym and Ball just look at him like "🫣🤨" and the lamb just shows up like "... What? Whats up?" and they all gotta pretend Nari didn't just gag for 5 minutes straight.
