I was rereading my physical copy of Chainsaw Man volume 11, easily one of my favourite's with it being the ending of part 1, but also for its really great panels!. (chapter 91-97 spoilers)

this panel hits really hard on the physical copy, Denji and Kobeni are on separate pages. it really shows their separation in life experiences and perspectives.

context makes this one a bit silly, but still hits very hard.

I remember not even understanding this part at first, my second reread of the series was when it hit me.

this was crazy. The way love was what defeated her. the series shows a few times, including this, that love has always been her weakness, what made her most human. the movie date with Denji shows her sincerely crying from an image of affection, one of the only times she isn't lying is when she exclaims her love for Chainsaw Man. Love is what made her Human, as weak as her puppets.

these pages always make me feel a bit sad, so very bittersweet. Love and Empathy is what will save the world from devils, part 2 still shows that to be what saves the day sometimes, and what is Denji's and Asa's greatest strengths.

Thanks for reading! Chainsaw Man is one of my favourite stories so far, and I think the artistry and symbolism of the manga isn't appreciated enough. I have a few other volume's (1, 8, and 9), if you want I can go through those and show some of my favourite panels from those!

HIMENO CHAINSAW MAN SPOILERS

idk if this is a translation thing or what but Himeno says here that in exchange for feeding the ghost devil her right eye, she can use her OWN ghost’s right hand? Does that mean that might’ve become a ghost after giving up her body, just now she’s invisible? 

I think it would be really interesting if she could come back in vol. 2 at some point as a ghost!

.. just a little observation. but i wonder what makima’s thoughts on the other horsemen/her siblings are and if it differs from control devil incarnation. like, we know that makima doesn’t understand or show love as one might expect - she ‘loves’ humans as one might a dog, she considers being eaten by chainsaw man an honour, etc.

so like. her wanting to make csm eat the other horsemen... on one hand, she says its for the world, to make it a better place.  on the other hand, she herself is completely content and would be happy to be eaten and erased from existence. 

but the explanation for this i’ve found to be the most likely is that. well, makima was raised by the government.  they had an agenda for her and intended to use her for their own means, because that’s the world they live in.  so it makes me wonder how much of makima’s desire to erase her siblings was a result of the governments influence and how much was actually in her nature.

I know Fujimoto said that Aki's name was cause of AK-47 (he becomes possessed by the gun devil) but though there is no official Kanji of his name I'd like to think Aki could also be a reference to the season autumn/fall (秋) and that his death was the start of tragedy (a harsh cold winter) in Denji's life. The way the start of snow signals autumn ending and Aki imagining his last moments with Denji as a snowball fight.
