Hello anon! This question is a little confusing to answer since you are talking about Victoria Princess Royal for the first half of the ask, and I think Kaiser Wilhelm for the second half of I am correct. I will just answer about both! 🥰

As far as I know, Vicky loved her niece Missy like she loved all of her many nieces! Missy was close in age to Vicky’s younger children so I’m sure that they all played around when they were at Osborne. She definitely considered Missy as a candidate for the wife of Willy and he was in love with her I’m pretty sure, but she ultimately settled for the CP of Romania. I’m not an expert on this relationship in particular, but I think my friend @kaiserrreich could answer this one better than me!

Grand Duchesses at the Coronation of Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna

Nicholas II and his consort Empress Alexandra, were crowned on Tuesday, 14 May (O.S., 26 May N.S.) 1896, in Dormition Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin. The magnificence of the occasion was never again seen in Russia. The Grand Duchesses were in full regalia. Here are two great photographs of them.

- Princess Margaret of Connaught (1882–1920) was the daughter of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, the third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. She married Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden, the future King Gustaf VI Adolf, in 1905 and became the Crown Princess of Sweden. She was known for her beauty, intelligence, and charm, and was popular among the Swedish people. She died in 1920, at the age of 38.

- Princess Victoria Melita of Edinburgh (1876–1936) was the daughter of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the second son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. She married twice: first to her cousin Ernest Louis, Grand Duke of Hesse; and second to another cousin Kirill Vladimirovich, Grand Duke of Russia. She was considered a beauty in her youth, with dark hair and blue eyes. She was also interested in music and art, and supported her husband's claim to the Russian throne after the revolution.

- Princess Marie of Edinburgh (1875–1938) was the daughter of Prince Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. She married King Ferdinand I of Romania in 1893. She was admired for her beauty, elegance, and style, and was nicknamed "the pearl of the crown" by the Romanian people. She was also a patron of arts and culture, and a humanitarian who helped refugees.

The extended family

So you may say that there is not one single "Romanov" in this photograph...but it is possible to identify at least a full-blooded one (the daughter of an Emperor no less) and the others are very important characters in the story of the dynasty.

From left to right, standing:

Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia (Duchess of Edinburgh then Duchess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, married to Queen Victoria's second son Albert).

The little girl next to her is her youngest daughter, Princess Beatrice of Edinburg first, then of Saxe Coburg and Gotha (she was quite in love with Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich at one point, but they were first cousins and could not marry, later she married into the Spanish nobility.)

Ernst Ludwig, Grand Duke of Hesse (brother of Tsarina Alexandra and future husband to Grand Duchess Maria's second daughter, Victoria Melita (I don't think they were married at this point although I could be wrong).
