requesting a frerard fic if you're up for writing it!!
Hell yeah I'm up for that!! I kinda went wild with this one and made it a fucking 2004 era college au LMAO (in no way do I ship them though, this is all just for funz!!)
Portraiture // Frerad
Gerard is sat on a bench in Liberty State Park, on his lap rests his sketchbook, the pages filled with scrapped ideas. for his latest assignment he was tasked to draw a live model, but none of the models the school offered caught his attention so he had chosen to go on a quest to find one himself.
After waiting for what felt like hours someone around Gerard's age walks up to a lower concrete wall which stands nearby, and sits down. his tattoos instantly catch Gerard's attention, The scorpion on his neck standing out. an iPod sits in his pocket, one of the earbuds in his ears blasting music at a volume that is way too loud.
Gerard observes the man carefully, sketching a quick gesture drawing of the man as he sits on the wall, looking on his phone. He sees the man glance at him with a raised eyebrow, and quickly looks back down at his sketchbook, the pencil moving in fluid motions. after a moment Gerard begins to draw a more detailed version of the man, admiring how he looks in the process. using shadows and applying different kind of pressure to differentiate between the black and blond in his hair, and the dark shades of his clothes. He looks over to the man once more, observing his tattoos more carefully this time with the mans short sleeved shirt making it easy for them to be seen. Gerard looks from the detailed heart with a knife though it located on his left arm, to the rising sun with handguns surrounding it filling his elbow, to the winged lady of sorrows below it and the writing 'I'm so sorry' on his wrist, staring at them in admiration. his eyes move over to his right arm, on his right wrist he sees 'I wish I were a ghost' is written in a fancy font, with a broken heart beside it. Lastly Gerard sees the NJ anchor, wondering if the man lived near him at all as he draws.
Gerard can't seem to stop drawing the man, filling several pages with headshots and full body drawings of the man as he glances over at him for what feels like the hundredth time. Gerard looks at his features, from his hazel eyes to his piercings, a slight blush appearing on his face as he appreciates how the man looks. Gerard thinks of going over at the man for a moment, but decides not to in case he comes across as a creep. instead he flips the page and draws the man (yes, again.) and writes his own number on the corner of the page with a heart next to it, ripping it out of the sketchbook. Gerard stands up and slowly walks over to the man, drawing clutched in his hands. He stand before the man, a slight smile on his face.
"Uhm... hey. I drew you, thought you might like it." Gerard says with a nervous chuckle, handing the man the drawing.
The man looks up in surprise, taking one of his earbuds out of his ears to hear Gerard better. "Really? dude that's awesome!" He says, a huge grin on his face as he looks at the drawing. "thanks, I'll be sure to hang it above my bed." The man jokes, a playful glint in his eyes.
Gerard chuckles in reply, scratching the back of his neck. "I'll hold you to that." He replies. "I'm Gerard." He mumbles after a moment, reaching out his hand for a handshake.
The man shakes his hand with a firm grip, the same grin still on his face. "Frank, nice meeting you." He introduces himself with a wink.
The wink makes Gerard burst into a laugh, a slight blush on his face. "It was nice meeting you too, but uhm... I've got to go, make sure to call me." Gerard says with a chuckle, before walking away with his hands in his pockets and a proud glint in his eyes.
Frank raises an eyebrow at Gerard's last comment, before shrugging and examining the drawing more closely. he sees the number written on the lower left corner of the page, almost mistaking it for a mindless scribble. he laughs to himself and folds the drawing neatly to put it in his pocket, going back to listening to his music with a smile as he thinks of Gerard, reminding himself to call him as soon as possible.

Rockstar AU album covers
I hyperfocused on a tiny detail again, so I drew all the album covers of rockstar Sirius, and also came up with a “backstory” for all. I put the descriptions under the cut, with some more details of this rockstar AU! Beware, long post! (also someone please write this)
Albums (Sirius’ age indicated):
Practically Royal (20): A sharp, system-critical punk album that dived deep into social and political commentary. With its raw energy and defiant tone, the album offered an aggressive critique of authority, consumerism, class and societal norms, aiming to spark discussion and challenge the status quo. This debut album was a huge success, launching Sirius into instant stardom and becoming an important public figure and activist in political and societal discourse. He firsts got arrested for engaging in civil disobedience / demonstrations related to an anti-government movement. He was heavily criticized by both parties because of his rebellious actions and undeniable privilidge of his noble birth.
Stray Dog (22): After his brother died, Sirius released his second, highly personal album that showcased diverse musical influences, blending multiple genres into a complex soundscape. Despite its personal depth, it struggled to find a clear identity and the eclectic style left many fans disappointed. The album was considered a flop financially, which added yet another layer to Sirius’ personal struggles and scandals.*
Orange is the New Black (29): This album contained almost entirely cover songs, a bold move that alienated fans who were hoping for original material. It failed to resonate with listeners who wanted Sirius’ distinct voice and creativity, rather than renditions of already well-known songs. The album was released a little after Sirius had served his prison sentence,* and was very despised by the audience, who referred to it as „only a desperate money-grab”. Sirius got heavily criticized, with many arguing that his time had passed and his music no longer stood the test of time, becoming overly commercial. This album was so disappointing that fans began to rediscover and appreciate his second album more.
Wasted Potential (33): After a long hiatus and a period of public controversies and scandals, Sirius returned with his forth album, which was a huge commercial and critical triumph, marking a powerful comeback. It blended his core sound with fresh ideas, and successfully proved that, despite previous doubts, he still had the musical chops and authenticity that made him a fan favorite in the first place. The album became Platinum in 3 months, and dominated the Charts, the titular song spent 3 consecutive weeks as No. 1 of the Billboards Hot 100. The album was nominated for a Grammy, and won the Brit Awards and multiple categories at the AMAs/VMAs.
Fleurs du Mal (34): In response to criticism of his „less poetic” lyrics, Sirius released an acoustic album based entirely on the works of iconic poets like Rimbaud, Verlaine, and Baudelaire. The album received a mixed reception. On one hand, it introduced Sirius’ work to a new audience, gaining significant praise in academic and literary circles. On the other hand, it alienated the core fanbase, who were more attuned to straightforward rock songs.
Supernova (41): Released unexpectedly after another extended break, this album was a declaration that, despite aging, he still possessed the fire and creativity that made him a rock icon. The album featured multiple heavy hitting rock songs, dramatic ballads, grand and epic anthems, showcasing a renewed energy that surprised his fans and critics alike. It served as both a personal statement and a challenge to the idea that aging musicians lose their edge. The album was well-received for its raw vitality and confidence. It was a commercial success as well, the titular song broke the record of „Wasted Potential” by spending 5 consecutive weeks as No. 1 of the Billboards Hot 100. The album also won a Grammy.
*Further details:
Sirius got in touble with the law multiple times for various reasons:
Reckless Driving and Substance Abuse: speeding, drunk driving, drug or alcohol-related offenses, drug possession and addiction
Vandalism and Violent Behavior: trashing a hotel room and damaging private property (charged by Walburga as Sirius damaged Black family properties), physical violence against paparazzi
(Alleged) Fraud: embezzlement and tax evasion, actually comitted by his (asset) manager, Peter, who fraudulently used Sirius’ wealth and invested using his name in questionable business opportunities, mostly regarding property handling and real estate investments.
Criminal Negligence, Endangerment and Involuntary Manslaughter: A gas leak related explosion happaned at one of the properties that Peter got involved with in Sirius’ name, which unfortunately resulted in the death of 12 people. As Sirius was the landlord/investor, and he already had a criminal record, he had to face criminal charges, including imprisonment as on paper, he was the one recklessly ignoring safety regulations. After his second album flopped financially, and he got very publicly disowned, the rumor of his teorethical money problems sort of solidified the charges. It was later proven that he was not responsible as Peter fraudulently used his name and assets without his knowledge, so Sirius got released after 5 years.

chef!reader and taste tester!price
sorry for taking ages, babe i hope this was what you wanted ♡
price loves everything you make, has a hard time saying anything bad because it doesn't feel right
even if you actively encourage his criticisms, he struggles to say anything bad because your food is amazing
"is this for me? it looks so good, sweetheart!"
compliments and more compliments, he's just so thankful for you :")
he's so proud of you, always liking the reviews on google that people have left you
and always critiquing the bad ones, sending them a gentle threat to remove it <3
it's been so long since someone earmed up his heart having spent the better parts of his years surrounded with guns and wars, its so nice to be somewhere far away from it for a few hours
the rest of the boys get curious why their captain is always so eager to get off work in the evening and they stalked him to your place, his face lighting up in a gentle smile when he caught sight of you
all three of them absolutely flabbergasted when he kissed you, they didn't think their captain had in him
so now your lil restaurant/cafe now welcomes another three members of the task force
price's eye twitching when they invade your space, trying to shove them out
"that's enough, out you three go. scram lads"
but you chuckling and assuring it's quite all right if they stay. johnny's eyes sparkling, gaz grinning and ghost smirking at price's muttering under his breath
you'll usually find them all seated after a long mission, your food reminds them of home and they're all incredibly homesick for it <3
price helping you clean up, no matter how much you tell him to sit back down and rest
"that's enough, pretty. i'm helping you whether you like or not"
if you're washing the dishes, he's helping dry and place them away
if you're the one clearnibg away the work surfaces, he's already disinfecting them for you
bought you the cutest apron with a matching hat because you deserve to feel spoilt all the time !!
and also your establishment is price's little safe place. the moment he comes through your doors, work is left back there and he's just john with you <3
he always goes home with a full sated stomach and you always go home to him showing his appreciation for you <33 ;)

SCOTT PILGRIM TAKES OFF WAS FUCKING NUTS AND I WANNA BE ANNOYING N TALK ABT IT BC I LOVE SCOTT PILGRIM SO MUCH!!!!!!!!
SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT OBVS XD
OKAY SO??? THE FACT THAT THEY LITERALLY SET UP THE FIRST EPISODE LIKE IT WAS GONNA BE JUST LIKE THE COMICS N THEN SCOTT "DIED"????? literally had me questioning fucking EVERYTHING i was watching that episode with the most quizzical look on my face?? also the fucking funeral scene was hysterical bc the way rammy n knives were abt to have a verbal face-off n envy's bitchass shows up n steals the whole show?? i have such a love-hate relationship with her.............
also lucas lee is fucking adorable and i love him :33 rammy becoming friends with roxie n making up with her after everything was something i really needed to see. cuz like for as much as i loved the movie n the comics, i feel like they could've done their relationship so much better. like seeing ramona take responsibility for hurting roxie made me so happy and im so glad they got a redemption arc.
ROXIE IS LITERALLY ME BTW??? her whole interaction with ramona n kim at the end kf the episodr was so silly N THE LEG LOCK HELLO????? also the way she walked off singing the HAMSTER DANXE SONG I LOCE HER
the toddlace thing was also so unexpected but holy shit?? i loved it. bi todd has been my fav headcanon for YEARSSSS and seeing jt happen right in front of my eyes?? WATCHING THAT EPISODE WAS SUCH A TRIP THO I CAN'T STOP QUOTING WALLACE'S "LINES? TRAILER?" BITS BC THEY'RE SO FUNNY
uhmmmmm what elseeeee OH YEAH young neil is a fucking goof n i love him, i really like that gideon (gordon ig 🙄) became like this not evil guy who just lived with julie n kicked it with lucas. the old scott stuff kinds fricked with me but i think it's cool that he became chill with the twins
LMFAOAO THAT SCENE AT THE END WHERE SCOTT'S TRTING TK FIGJRE OIT WHY HE CAN'T KISS RAMONA N HE TRIES TO FIGHT THE TWINS AND THEY'RE LIKE "our robot says we become bros in the future, so we have no intention of fighting you. see ya bro ;)" WAS SO SILLY
obligatory matt mention i love him he's so dumb i love that he took over gideon's entire empire only to turn around and change his mind :3 glad he got his broadway moment....... silly pirate headass
knives n stephen becoming the best brother/sister duo ever was so dope bc like. knives had someone to look up to n make music with n they had a lot of chemistry both personality wise n musically wise
my only critique is that i wanted more lisa ;^; i know she probably would've been out of place but it would've been cool if kim mentioned her to ramona and ramona interviewed her just like she did with her exes yknow :P she was one of my fav characters in the comics n she wasn't in the movie AT ALL so i was hoping she would've appeared in the anime, but alas 😞😞 i also kinda wanted to see where kim's love life went...... i know she's not the focus but she had undeniable chemistry with knives and that moment with roxie... i love that she's totally very queer and open to the idea of experimenting with girls n i wish that would've been expanded upon like how todd n wallace had their moment :33
other than that, i LOVED the anime. i love how we got baited into thinking it was just like the comics and i love what was done with it :3 it was such a goofy show and a lot of it was so jaw-droppingly surprising that i couldn't believe it, but it also had some really sweet, serious, n heart-warming moments which is something i really appreciate in a show :33 it's hard to keep watching something for so long but i binged the show in one day xD i'd give it a solid 9/10 (deducting points just for the sake of what i think was missing and how i don't recommend it for like "beginner" fans)
oki rant concluded!!!!!!! ^___^ there's so much more i wanna say but this is already sooooooo long as it is xD

__________
I'm excited to finish writing Chapter 33 because at the end of Chapter 32, Buck and Eddie got the call from Angelo, the real estate agent in San Gimignano, Italy regarding the house they bid on back in December and they were informed the builder accepted it. Later that evening, they told their found family at the 118 about it and they had a lot of questions including if they were going to immediately relocate to Italy.
Eddie explained they wouldn't do it right away but he included a caveat that if Buck or Chris say they're ready to go, they would pack up and leave, no questions asked. They still haven't told the Diazes yet and they haven't told Margaret and Phillip either. Will they tell them in the next chapter? Also, in Chapter 31, Buck and Bobby agreed to have a conversation at a later date regarding Buck's meeting with Captain Mehta and the job offer he got from Captain Clarke at the 115. Will they have that meeting in Chapter 33? 👀
__________
Here’s a 4th emotionally angsty snippet from Chapter 33 of Buck's long awaited and delayed conversation with Bobby.
__________
“Buck, it’s not just the way I view you because it’s like I’ve said before, captains talk and a lot of times those conversations are had with members of the brass in the room. Over the years, whenever you’ve disobeyed orders, I went to bat for you and it wasn’t easy.”
He sighs because Captain Mehta already explained that part and after a few moments, he says, “I appreciate you covering for me but that still doesn’t change the way you see me. Since you said I’m a great firefighter, it appears you’re not fairly critiquing my accomplishments. I think outside of the box and I know how to help victims. Do you remember Gladys?”
Bobby takes a moment and when the bowling alley comes back to him, he replies, “I do and you’re right, you did think outside of the box. If it hadn’t been for your idea to “embrace the cross brace” I’m not sure what we would have done.”
“Ok, so we can agree that I add value to the team. Listen… I’m not perfect and I’ve made a lot of mistakes especially as a probie… but I’m not like that anymore. I’m still me but I’m 31 years old and I consider the risks before I act both on and off the job.”
“I’ve never said you weren’t valuable to the team but it’s different when it comes to being a captain because we aren’t just chosen, it’s a calling and it also involves having the temperament for the trade.”
“Captain Mehta said it’s a two-way street so how can I obtain those skills if you aren’t willing to train me? Bobby, let me ask you a question because you’re a legacy since your dad was a firefighter but what other types of job experiences do you have?”
“I’ve always been a firefighter but I worked my way up from that level to become a captain and I was married with two children…”
“And I’m married with one child!” He stops talking and exhales because this conversation is turning into a shitshow of epic proportions but he didn’t want it to be like this. He rehearsed everything he planned to say while he was driving but it’s all gone out of the window. “Let’s be real because you got a lot of your experience in Minnesota and even after you made a mistake, your chief allowed you to transfer to the LAFD.”
Bobby doesn’t respond even though he knows it’s true. The fact is if it hadn’t been for his chief agreeing to let him transfer, he wouldn’t be here.
The words that have been bouncing around inside Buck’s mind come out unbidden. “Bobby, I’m not you!”
“I know that!”
“Do you? I don’t think so and this seems like the lawsuit all over again. Even back then you thought I was going to end up like you did after you were injured on the job but I didn’t get hooked on pain meds.”
“You’re right you didn’t but you did ignore the doctor’s orders because you were ready to return to work.”
“Ok… I admit I did that but after I got struck by lightning, I took my recovery seriously and I didn’t rush back so… please, tell me what the problem is.”
He doesn’t answer.
After several seconds of deafening silence, Buck hears Malone’s voice and it seems like he’s sitting right beside him. {“Evan… go get your life because it’s calling you. You are a natural born leader so be the captain you’ve always wanted to be and don’t let anyone stop you. That may mean you’ll have to leave the 118 to get it but don’t let the fact that you won’t be working with the same people prevent you from living your dream.”}
As Malone’s words reverberate inside of his mind, in a low voice, he asks, “When Frank releases me from therapy, is there anything left for me at the 118?”
Bobby furrows his eyebrows. “What do you mean?”
“I’m asking if there’s a future there for me or will I end up like Myers, Kendricks and Ortiz? Those guys have been there for years and none of them have ever been promoted.”
“I can’t answer that question for you but I will say they’re happy with the way things are.”
“Well I’m not! I want to get promoted because I have a lot of ideas and if I can’t get it done with you as my captain…” He trails off and he chooses not to say the quiet part out loud because if he does, that will make it real.
They’re both silently sitting and waiting for the other one to speak.
A few seconds pass, then Buck admits, “I—I uh… feel like if I were to return to the 118, I really have no idea what I’d be going back to.”
He frowns and before he realizes it, the question on the tip of his tongue comes out unbidden. “Buck, are you planning to leave the 118?”
How will Buck respond to Bobby's question? 🙃
Is he going to quit the 118 and become a full-time chef on the Food Network? 👀
__________
Fic Summary: Months after Buck and Eddie were hit by the same lightning strike; they’re still struggling with the aftermath of it. But before they make their love confessions, they’ll spend time getting to know themselves as individuals first. Eddie learns to enjoy the simple things in life as he participates in activities on his own and with new friends while Buck learns the rest of the 31-year-old deep dark family secret about his conception and birth. Their journey to forever is still a work in progress but once they finally admit they’re in love with each other, everything that follows their love confessions will be cataclysmic.
__________
Chapter Summaries
Chapter 1 - Eddie makes a new friend while Buck receives devastating news regarding the sperm donation he made for Connor and Kameron.
Chapter 2 - Buck does a lot of research to learn more about the abnormalities found in his red blood cells and Eddie starts a new therapy journey that’s all about him and not the traumas he’s experienced.
Chapter 3 - After more than a month, Buck and Eddie finally spend time together outside of work but it doesn’t end well and they part with a lot of uncertainty regarding their places in each other’s lives.
Chapter 4 - Eddie has a few realizations about his life which causes him to consider moving back to El Paso, TX while Buck continues to be reminded of his past which causes him to take an impromptu road trip across America.
Chapter 5 - Both Buck and Eddie have difficult conversations with their parents and Buck finally learns the truth behind the reason why his mother despised him while Eddie finally tells his mother about the way she tries to control him.
Chapter 6 - More than two weeks after Buck pushed Eddie away after suggesting they needed a break; Eddie decides to try again. Eddie’s there for Buck when he’s at his worst just like Buck was there for him when he was at his worst and he won’t let Buck give up.
Chapter 7 - After Buck’s mental breakdown, Eddie has his back the same way Buck had his when he had his own breakdown more than a year ago. They share several vulnerable and emotionally intimate moments with one another and they begin to realize their small, sweet and caring gestures matter just as much if not more than any grand gesture ever could because these are the foundations of a long-lasting love relationship.
Chapter 8 - Buck, Eddie and Chris all have their own therapists and during their sessions, they reflect on their pasts while they’re in the present so they can prepare for their future together as a family.
Chapter 9 - Buck and Eddie are there for each other when Buck has to testify as a witness during the trial. But by the end of it, they’ll both realize their individual and shared traumas are going to keep resurfacing until they talk about them, deal with the fact that they’re in love with one another and face the fact that they can’t live without each other.
Chapter 10 - As Buck and Eddie finally begin to confront their past traumas, they realize how much they need each other to fill in the gaps of their memories. Additionally, the universe screams at them for what appears to be the one hundredth time so Buck can realize he doesn’t have to ‘find it’ because he already ‘made it’ and Eddie’s reminded tomorrow isn’t promised and he doesn’t have to die alone if he doesn’t want to.
Chapter 11 - A “virga or dry thunderstorm is in the forecast but once the rain starts, the thunderstorm happening outside won’t be able to match the storm brewing inside between Buck and Eddie. It’s the universe’s final scream and when the tumultuous winds begin to blow, they’ll have one last chance to hold onto everything they’ve built over the last six years or they’ll lose it all forever.
Chapter 12 - Buck and Eddie have always shared a deep physical attraction and an emotional intimacy that’s unmatched but now that they’re in a relationship, they’re learning how to navigate the romantic intimacy they’ve been waiting for six years to explore. The love they have for each other is a once in a lifetime, soulmate, love of their lives type of love that transcends space and time.
Chapter 13 - While navigating the newness of their romantic relationship, Buck and Eddie take advantage of every moment they spend together. As their individual lives, people from their pasts, time constraints and the possibility of losing each other again make attempts to interrupt and interfere with their journey to forever, they love, care for, support and hold onto each other even tighter to withstand it all.
Chapter 14 - Buck and Eddie can see the lights at the end of the tunnels regarding the results of Buck’s Cancer Screening along with everything else they’re dealing with. But are the lights they see exits to the tunnels or are they headlights on different runaway trains that are speeding towards them in an effort to interrupt their forever?
Chapter 15 - Buck and Eddie have known they were exactly who the other one wanted in a partner since they met six years ago when they agreed to have each other’s backs. They’re in a romantic relationship, they’re both preparing to ask the other one to spend forever with them and by the end of the seventh week into their relationship, together they will plan their most important and greatest adventure for their future.
Chapter 16 - As Buck and Eddie begin to prepare for their marriage ceremony that will take place in Rome, Italy in December 2023, they start planning their first international adventure as a romantic couple. Even though Chris is still the only person they’ve told about their relationship, several people who know them have already witnessed the love they share and as the days continue, others will witness it too.
Chapter 17 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to departing Los Angeles for their international adventure, a moment in time will remind them; life is fragile, tomorrow isn’t promised and every second of everyday should be cherished because everything can change in an instant. The result of that realization will cause them to hold onto each other even more.
Chapter 18 - As Buck, Eddie and Chris prepare for family gatherings before and during the Thanksgiving holiday, the “Santa Ana Winds” start to blow and all sorts of expected and unexpected familial drama ensues.
Chapter 19 - As Buck and Eddie get closer to their wedding day, the universe begins to align everything so that some of their parent and children's relationships are strengthened while others come to an abrupt end.
Chapter 20 - With only 14 days remaining until Buck, Eddie and Chris depart Los Angeles, CA traveling to Rome, Italy, for their first family adventure, an early morning conversation about “tying up loose ends” helps Buck and Eddie realize there are still several things left unfinished on their ‘To Do’ lists. The question is will there be enough time to complete all of them?
Chapter 21 - Buck, Eddie and Chris are finalizing their ‘To Do’ Lists, double checking their itineraries and packing their suitcases in preparation for their trip to Europe so they can board their flight that departs Los Angeles, CA on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 3:25PM.
Chapter 22 - While Buck, Eddie and Chris spend the first 8 days of their European family adventure in Italy, their primary reason for going will be fulfilled as well as several others they hadn’t considered or anticipated.
Chapter 23 - As the Diaz Family continues their Italian family adventure, they’ll say, “Ciao” or hello and goodbye to a lot of things almost immediately after they become an official and legal family.
Chapter 24 - After Buck, Eddie and Chris arrive in London, England on December 24th; the Diazes immediately start preparing to spend their first family Christmas together. During their stay, each of them will hear a few choice words that will be the life raft to get them home to complete their searches to be seen and to be found.
Chapter 25 - After spending more than two weeks in Europe, Eddie, Buck and Chris are back in Los Angeles and they’re getting ready to attend Maddie and Chimney’s New Year’s Eve party. During the event, they have plans to make two surprise announcements but the question is, who’s really going to be surprised, the Diaz family or their found family at the 118?
Chapter 26 - Buck and Eddie are once again faced with their greatest fear of losing each other but this time it could be permanent and if it is, then they won’t be able to spend the rest of their lives together.
Chapter 27 - After Buck resumes therapy, he’ll continue to face the fact that he “DIED” in March 2023 and during those sessions, he’ll learn about the 7 stages of grief. As he continues his healing journey, Eddie will be right by his side just like he promised and the Diaz family will start to deal with their three minutes and seventeen seconds loss as a family.
Chapter 28 - Two years ago, Eddie was asked, “What are you afraid of?”; twice, once by Frank and once by Buck but he only answered one of them without deflecting. Since that time, he’s been to therapy and him and Buck got married but the question resurfaces when Frank asks Buck the same question and Buck asks it of Eddie for the second time. However, when Buck asks, his reasoning will be about something else entirely.
Chapter 29 - After Buck and Eddie have an emotionally intimate conversation regarding their dreams, they make several decisions that will affect their future. When everything falls into place, they’ll realize one of those decisions will result in them no longer being work partners.
Chapter 30 - In 2018, Buck and Eddie met at the 118 and after some initial apprehensions on Buck’s part, they became work partners and they agreed to have each other’s backs. It’s been more than 6 ½ years, a lot’s happened, they got married in December 2023 and they have the family they both chose. With Eddie leaving the 118 in 3 months and Buck getting closer to moving past his grief, what will him losing his work partner mean for him?
Chapter 31 - As Buck’s life hangs in the balance from what’s suspected to be another bradycardia event, Eddie’s by his bedside, their son is being cared for by relatives and their found family is in the waiting room. During this time, many questions will surface that could possibly lead to the truth but will everything be revealed before it’s too late?
Chapter 32 - On January 2, 2024, the figurative skies over the Diaz family became gray and filled with storm clouds. Buck’s recent trauma, Chris’ school project and Eddie’s paramedic studies combined with the attack on Buck’s life, all those things contributed to the grief they’ve been experiencing. However, as the middle of February approaches, will the dark clouds dissipate so blue skies can return?
Chapter 33 - Will be posted soon.

2. What's your AO3 word count?
103,418
3. What fandoms do you write for?
very primarily percy jackson (i.e. pjo/hoo/toa) and the shadowhunter chronicles
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. Percy to the Rescue (69)
2. A Different Kind of Adventure (54)
3. Napkins and Notebooks (54)
4. Mistletoe (52)
5. The Holiday Market (51)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i do! it may take some time (if i get in my head about something lol) but i will always get to them if they elicit a response. i appreciate comments and the people who make them so incredibly much
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
probably Acceptance. it's <900 words but it's the only fic i have flagged with "main character death" so..
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
this is so hard.. prospecitvely i want to say it will be The Shape of the Tide just because of how much of a journey it will take to get us there. but as of right now it might be You, Me, and Nick just because of how damn cozy it is.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
i get a lot of "why would you do this" but so far *knocks on wood* no real hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
yes. and i have no idea how to answer the second question.. um ig pretty straightforward explicit hetero smut? (so far.. if anything else i could def see myself writing sapphic smut in the future)
10. Do you write cross overs? What's the craziest one you've written?
i have written one (1) crossover. it was a percy jackson/harry potter next gen where the percabeth fam move to the uk and their son gets a letter from hogwarts. i was like 14/15 and gave up two chapters in because i couldn't figure out the conversion rates of american dollars to pounds to wizard money o7 (ftr i would totally write more. it can be so fun to play with characters like that and see how they interact etc.)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i am far to unknown for that lol
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
no sirr
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no, but i would love to
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
es a tie between percabeth (pjo) and sizzy (tsc). (some might determine from observing my blog (or sideblog) that it's actually just sizzy. but (a) i love them in different ways, (b) i don't recieve asks about percabeth, and (c) the scarcity of sizzy fan-content makes my heart act out the economic principle of supply and demand lol)
15. What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever wilI?
ivy.. i would love to see this story completed but unfortunately i no longer ship ghostwriter and even with reshaping the plot to change the endgame, i just don't feel like writing that much about jesse anymore.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i feel like i'm pretty okay at tackling complex emotions? i've also gotten comments on my imagery, voice, and characterizations.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
endings; it's the biggest critique i remember receiving in my college writing classes. i also feel like i have a tendency to get lost in the weeds sometimes, which results in too much narration. also just general confidence.. i get spooked really easily.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
it's fun if it's spanish! but so far that's the only other language i've written dialogue in.. (thank you, leo)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
i actually think it may have been ella enchanted ? it was back on figment.com when i was 13-14 and was for some sort of challenge and i thought like ooh i can connect this with ella! (i was prob in my reading and rereading the book era) but it was super short and barely connected lol
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
gonna take a page out of lexi's book and split this between fandoms hehe
for tsc: Trying. i have found myself sitting at the top of my stairs ready to leave just rereading the first like 5k of this fic way too often. (it's also horribly the longest piece of writing i think i've ever finished. so it holds a special piece of proof to myself in it.. even if its only like 8k)
for pjo: Here Without You. there's an entire fraction of my soul tied up in this fic i swear. i'm never not thinking about it. it's been incredibly cathartic for me to write, both for myself and the characters (incl. calypso who i was not expecting to learn to appreciate/understand as much as i have)
leaving the tag open bc i can't think to save my life rn but! if you write fic and wish to do this, consider this your designated tag <3

hi!! i was the person who said i’d like to see the whole trial as much as possible, but to not overwhelm yourself and honestly… i think you hit the nail on the head. peoples suffering really does get sensationalised to such an extreme degree, and it’s something that really gets to me too bc i think it ignores their humanity, and if i was in your place i’d have a hard time feeling like there was a balance. that being said, so far i think you’ve done well finding that balance between showcasing how people actually treat celebrities as entertainment no matter their circumstances, and also critiquing that same idolization. the call to remember humanity through a medium we’re familiar with, with characters that cannot suffer from the lash back. idk what all im trying to say… but yeah <3 however you do it, or don’t do it, i really appreciate that you’re approaching it with grace and intentionality :))
- 🎩 (couldn’t think of a sign off)
top hat anon <33 you’re too kind mann I genuinely do appreciate your words on this and I guess it makes me feel a bit better about making more posts!!

As a writer how much do you think getting feedback and not reblog is important?
ohhh, i guess both is important ?? i love receiving thoughts and discussions about the story from readers. nothing makes me happier than getting those lovely long ass messages highlighting the parts they enjoyed in a chapter. it really makes the effort feel worthwhile when readers engage that deeply !! <33
as for feedback in the form of criticism, it depends on the writer. personally, i don't want critiques on my writing. if something is unclear or there are mistakes/typos, please point those out so i can correct them or explain the plot in more detail.
but i'd prefer not to have the fundamental plot, characterizations or logic of the story questioned. authors pour their hearts into this hobby, and unless they explicitly state otherwise, most don't want criticism on the core aspects of their creative vision.
reblogs are always appreciated too. of course, i'm happy when people enjoy the writing enough to reblog, comment, interact etc. even if i don't reply to every comment, believe me, i read them all and they make me smile. kind words from readers mean so much and are really a great motivation boost !!
i'd be lying if i said i wasn't interested in the stats and how many people are reading my story. the validation and feeling of connection with readers is deeply gratifying. so reblogs are greatly valued, and i always read the tags attached – smiling like an idiot if there are any unhinged, hilarious ones <33
so yeah, i hope that answers your question :))

100 Albums // 2024
One of my resolutions for 2024 was to sit down and listen to more full albums, uninterrupted from beginning to end, with limited song-skipping. Here is where I'm compiling those albums + my thoughts on them as I go.
If you see this (which you might because Im pinning it for ease of access), you should reply or send me a message with your favorite album. I just may give it a listen! Thanks!!
How I'm choosing the albums: many of these are "I randomly found one song off this album, I've been meaning to listen to more". But some are just iconic, genre-defining albums that I know I'm doing myself a disservice by not listening to yet. But most are also blind suggestions! From friends and coworkers.
How I'm rating them: this is PERSONAL TASTE ONLYYYYYY. Some albums I acknowledge will be impossible to rate this way, but for the most part I am JUST rating based on MY taste. I'm trying to be open minded to any and all genre's but I'm aware my tastes lean indie.
‐----------------‐-------------------------------------------------------
1. Self-Titled - Bon Iver (2011)
Rating: 4/10
Fav Songs: Holocene, Towers, Wash
Notes: I REALLY wanted this whole album to be like "Holocene" but overall it's pretty... Meh, save a few songs. The bits I enjoyed were experimental aspects that remind me of "33 God". I will listen to that album too at some point. I haven't given up on Bon Iver, anyway.
2. Get to Heaven (Deluxe vers) - Everything Everything (2015)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: The Wheel (is turning now), Only As Good as my God, Blast Doors
Notes: I absolutely LOVED this album. I've been obsessed with OAGAMG for years, and most of the album is just as good if not better. Love the post-modern, religious imagery and overall messaging. Not every song totally landed, though, which is why it's only an 8/10.
3. Nearer My God - Foxing (2018)
Rating: 6/10
Fav Songs: Nearer My God, Five Cups, Lambert
Notes: I listened to this album on a rainy Sunday morning while finishing a book, and I'd say that's the perfect way to listen to it. Solid mellow vibes and sweeping, yet gentle, instrumentals- but nothing that really knocked my socks off.
4. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess - Chappell Roan (2023)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Pink Pony Club, HOT TO GO!, Red Wine Supernova
Notes: Almost a perfect album, to me. High points are danceable, low songs still catchy as fuck. One part Madonna, part Lemon Demon?? Its just great. However, I think the opening song 'FEMININOMENON' is awful. I couldn't even finish it. Only thing keeping this album from a 10/10.
5. Born in the U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen (1984)
Rating: I can't rate this are you crazy?/10
Fav Songs: Downbound Train, No Surrender, Dancing in the Dark
Notes: I won't even try to rate this album because it's so classic and contextual. I really loved it, though- especially with an eye on the way Springsteen satirizes, critiques, yet appreciates masculinity and methods of American patriotism.
6. Fine Line - Harry Styles (2019)
Rating: 5/10
Fav Songs: Cherry, Fine Line, Adore You
Notes: Another tame background listen. A few bangers but the rest is very meh. Also included my second song skip on this entire list, which is never great. I will probably not listen to any more Harry.
7. Mystére - La Femme (2016)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Ou ve la Monde, Sphynx, Mycose
Notes: First foreign language AND rec album for an artist that I'd never listened to. Really cool stuff here, very experimental- some of it is more straightforward electronica, some of it almost 60s sounding Halloween beats, some psychedelic rock- but I really enjoyed it!
8. Put Yourself Back Together - Real Friends (2013)
Rating: 3/10
Fav Songs: Skin Deep, I've Given Up On You
Notes: Chose a short one to end January on 8, but I found this album tremendously disappointing. All in a row like this, the whininess of Real Friends REALLY starts to grate after about 3 songs. Its way beyond your usual pop punk whininess, too. By the albums end I was so grateful it was over.
9. Self-Titled - Vagabon (2019)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Flood, Full Moon in Gemini, Water Me Down
Notes: This album is very good, but the best songs are unfortunately the ones I'd already stumbled on. That isn't to say there wasn't some treasures to be found- and on continued listens, I think "In A Bind" could grow higher in my tastes. Overall, pretty damn good!
10. The Slow Rush - Tame Impala (2020)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Borderline, Breathe Deeper, On Track
Notes: GREAT album. Even the songs that don't stand out are so fucking funky, it's impossible to not groove. I listened to this while cleaning the kitchen at work and I was half-dancing through most of it. I'll listen to Currents at some point, too.
11. Pin-Up Daddy - Rett Madison (2021)
Rating: 10/10
Fav Songs: Pin-Up Daddy, God is a Woman, Fleas
Notes: Finally... a 10/10 album! Pin-Up Daddy is a song that impacted me very deeply upon first listen, and the rest of this is just as gutting. First album (of this list) to bring me to tears. Definitely not a listen-in-the-background album, Rett demands involvement in the stories.
12. You Are All I See - Active Child (2011)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Hanging On, High Priestess, You Are All I See
Notes: This album is really good- mixing R&B with 80s synth, and add this mans beautiful, Bon Iver-esque falsetto, its a dream. However, the worst bits of this album are definitely where he's trying to... *Sound* more black than he is (lol there's really no nice way to say it).
Also! This album led me to Ellie Goulding's cover of "Hanging On", and this next album...
13. Halcyon - Ellie Goulding (2012)
Rating: 1/10
Fav Songs: Hanging On
Notes: think I've avoided this album subconsciously. "Lights" is a 10/10 album for me, but this albums single "Anything Can Happen" is probably one of my most hated songs of the 2010s. Its awful. And I'm sorry to report that the rest of this album is just as bad- giving "overproduced" a new standard, losing every appealing and unique thing about "Lights". The dubstep beat running through the background of every song is SO grating and was actually starting to piss me off. The gem keeping this album from a total 0 is her cover of "Hanging On", which is very different from the original but feels like the only song that she put even an OUNCE of effort into.
14. Miss Universe - Nilüfer Yanya (2019)
Rating: 7.5/10
Fav Songs: Heavyweight Champion of the Year, Baby Blu, Safety Net
Notes: Great album that I listened to while deep-cleaning at work. Its high energy makes it good for cleaning, and I really enjoyed the pacing/content of the album breaks. Really atmospheric. Her voice is so unique and her range is just INSANE too.
15. Self-Titled - Elliott Smith (1995)
Rating: 6/10
Fav Songs: Good to Go, Needle in the Hay, The Biggest Lie
Notes: I've been meaning to get to some Elliott Smith forever- he is, after all, SO influential. I was vibing to his stuff- but nothing on this album really stood out much to me. That said- it's amazing how you can feel his influence on many other artists- Phoebe Bridgers, Frank Ocean, Bright Eyes... I especially felt that he was similar in tone to Sufjan Stevens, whom I just adore. Another great rec!
16. Self-Titled - Tracy Chapman (1988)
Rating: 💧/10
Fav Songs: Fast Car, Mountain O' Things, Talkin' Bout a Revolution
Notes: I don't know why I wasn't expecting this album to be SO political when, in my opinion, Fast Car is very political. But Tracy has a lot to say about being black, poor, a woman- not even to mention being gay. This album was trangressive and inspiring when it dropped, and it remains totally excellent.
17. Fantastic Planet - Failure (1996)
Rating: 5/10
Fav Songs: Dirty Blue Balloons, Saturday Savior
Notes: Another blind suggestion for a band I've never even heard of! Overall, very cool and super different from my usual stuff. Not totally MY vibe, but this album has a lot to offer musically. I even watched a biography video about Failure afterwards because I was so interested in their process.
This album also REALLY made me want to listen to a full Tool album, so...
18. Lateralus- TOOL (2001)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Schism, The Grudge, Reflection
Notes: This album rules. I got stoned as hell and listened to it while doing a mindless task and it feels like I really, truly heard all of the instrumental and vocal depth of Tool for the first time. Not every song captured me, but considering Tool is known for LONG songs, I'm surprised it's as engaging as it is.
19. Crimes of Passion - Pat Benetar (1980)
Rating: 5/10
Fav Songs: Wuthering Heights, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, I'm Gonna Follow You
Notes: This album is certified mid. Her cover of Wuthering Heights is inspired, and obviously Hit Me is iconic, but this album offers little else besides a few decent guitar riffs. Any given song had clunky lyrics, and this is just not as refined as I know Pat Benetar to be.
20. Caught in Still Life - VAULTS (2016)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: One Last Night, Cry No More, Hurricane
Notes: Vaults basically encapsulates all my favorite musical things; electronic percussion mixed with pure instrumentals like strings, piano, harps, or chimes- plus clear, lovely vocals... It's just excellent.
21. Currents - Tame Impala (2015)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Eventually, Disciples, The Less I Know the Better
Notes: Told you I'd listen to Currents too! I liked this album a tiny bit more than The Slow Rush, I just feel like it was better put together and the flow between songs is perfect. But they are both SO good.
22. Modus Vivendi - 070 Shake (2020)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Morrow, Rocketship, The Pines
Notes: I think this is my first hiphop album of this project, which is insane. This is a good example of how the flow between songs can really make or break an album. I didn't love too many specific, individual songs- but I loved the structure as a whole which can carry a lot. I also just really enjoy 070 Shake. Her flow scratches an itch.
23. Proof of Life - Joy Oladokun (2023)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Changes, Somehow, Friends
Notes: Another album from someone I'd never heard of, and it's great! Joy was recommended to me as someone who likes Taylor Swifts 'Folklore' album. I would not say it's much like Folklore, but it was still wonderful. She has a voice like velvet and this folky, optimistic way with words. 'Changes' could have been my pandemic anthem.
24. 3.15.20 - Childish Gambino (2020)
Rating: 2/10
Fav Songs: 42.26, 35.31
Notes: (I listened to this literally days before he removed it from Spotify!) My partner reminded me of this album. Starting, I wondered to myself; "this album has been out for 4 years. Why haven't I heard any songs from it??" And the answer is; because they're bad. Like, really bad and not even in a fun way. Songs listed are listenable but I don't see myself revisiting them.
25. Strange Trails - Lord Huron (2015)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Meet Me In The Woods, The Night We Met, Fool for Love
Notes: After the last one, I wanted an album I knew would be decent so I went with Strange Trails as I'm familiar with a handful of songs. It's great! I just love the way he tells stories here. Reminiscent of old country. Redacted points for putting both 'Love Like Ghosts' and 'Meet Me In The Woods' on there. In theory, the idea of the same instrumentals with different lyrics is interesting- but in practice feels like LLG is the rough, first draft and shouldn't have been included.
26. Unreal Unearth: Unheard - Hozier (2024)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Empire Now, Too Sweet, Wildflower and Barley
Notes: Feels a bit cheat-y since I've heard almost every song off this 'album' except these new 4 added by the EP, but... I love Hozier and I wanted it to count because I listened to the whole thing like 3 times in a row. Lol.
27. Saved - Now, Now (2018)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: SGL, Powder, Drive
Notes: This album is one that inspired this project, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to get to it. Now, Now has a truly unique sound that I struggle to classify, and I simply love it. Catchy, yet complex and dreamy. Not every song landed but I'll be coming back to this one for sure.
28. Sahar - Tamino (2022)
Rating: 7/10
Fav songs: The First Disciple, The Longing, Fascination
Notes: Overall, I think I like his album Amir a bit more but this ones still great, especially to throw on in the background while you're doing stuff. His music is so layered and rich, truly unique sounding. That said, I REALLY don't like "Sunflower". I've heard it a few times now and I like it less every time.
29. Spirituals - Santigold (2022)
Rating: 6/10
Fav Songs: No Paradise, Fall First, Ain't Ready
Notes: This one was a coworker recommendation. Its just okay! I appreciate how unique and difficult to genre-fy Santigold is, but I prefer some of her older stuff. This album still has some great flow and a few total gems, though.
30. Beauty Pageant - The Bobby Lees (2018)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Radiator, Mad Moth, Bobby Lee
Notes: Another coworker rec and I LOVED this album. The old-punk feel is so visceral, you could close your eyes and be in an 80s basement show. I couldn't BELIEVE how new this is. Not a casual listen for sure, but worth a quick dive if you feel like going hard.
31. Чёрный альбом - Kino (1990)
Rating: 🎸/10
Fav Songs: N/A
Notes: This was a bestie-rec but I've listened to enough Kino in the past to know it probably wasn't gonna be my vibe! And sure enough, it wasn't. I enjoyed it ok, but most of the songs just blended together for me. I spent a good chunk of time reading about Kino afterwards, though. Cool band.
32. Older - Lizzy McAlpine (2024)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Drunk Running, Staying, Broken Glass
Notes: Lizzy's album before this, "ten seconds flat" is a 10/10 album that CONSUMED my entire Spotify wrapped last year. I was cautious about this album and I'm glad for it, because it's VERY different. I still enjoyed it a lot, but to compare the two would be weird. This is a melancholy album with very few highs, a jazz-feel throughout, and features Lizzy's voice on full display. A few songs bored me to death, musically, but a lot of it also brought me to tears!
33. Apocalypse Whenever (Deluxe vers) - Bad Suns - 2022
Rating: 3/10
Fav Songs: Maybe You Saved Me, When the World was Mine
Notes: This was my first truly disappointing listen. I love Bad Suns and "Disappear Here" is an album I just BLEED for. This one falls flat in comparison, and the culprit is obvious. I'm not sure if the singer is trying to sing in a more healthy way or something, but his voice just totally lacks that indescribable *thing* he does. The special sauce, if you will. As a result every song sounds really low-energy?
34. Fade to Bluegrass (a tribute to Metallica) - Iron Horse (2003)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam
Notes: Another coworker rec, and the concept really intrigued me. I don't even like Metallica but I'm familiar enough with them to admit these songs went hard. A few I even feel lend themselves better to the Bluegrass genre?? A really interesting listen!
35. The Tortured Poets Department (ANTHOLOGY) - Taylor Swift (2024)
Rating: 4/10
Fav Songs: I Look in People's Windows, Down Bad, The Black Dog
Notes: Certifiably mid. Does not justify being 31 effing songs long. Most of it sounds indistinguishable from one another and I feel like she has stopped refining her first drafts. Every song is so densely packed with lyrics, I wish she would just write a poetry book or something. And this low energy 'talk-singing' thing she does now sounds awful and bores you to tears by the end.
36. The Secret to Life - FIZZ (2023)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: The Secret to Life, Close One, Hell of a Ride
Notes: My partner brought this supergroup to my attention because I listen to 3/4 of the members solo stuff. It's a great collab album and I LOVE the flow from song to song. Its also just a super fun listen.
37. Cure for Pain - MORPHINE (1993)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: All Wrong, In Spite of Me, Thursday
Notes: Forget bands I've never listened to, this one comes from a GENRE I've never touched; jazz fusion. My extreme enjoyment really caught me off guard, but the sax is one of my favorite instruments and it shines in all forms through Morphine. The real gem, though, is the singers voice, which delivers a rich rock and roll sound.
38. Here in Your Bedroom (2020) and Medusa (2018) - Kailee Morgue
Rating(s): 8/10 & 4/10
Fav Songs: Still, Dying to Live, Knew You
Notes: These are both small EPs, so I listened to them together expecting to mostly feel the same about them. I do NOT, so rating them together feels unfair now. My bad. The earlier stuff is very early. It's not unlistenable, but it's nothing exceptional. 4/10. However, the latter is AMAZING. I adore 'Still' and I think it's one of the best songs I've heard in recent memory. 8/10.
39. Floetic - Floetry (2002)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Say Yes, Headache, Sunshine
Notes: Holy fuck I loved this album. Another blind rec from a coworker that comes in the midst of some modern rap controversy. This album beautifully blurs the lines between hiphop, rap, jazz, and R&B, and it is SO horny. The sexual tension ripping out of this album is unbelievable and excellent. A few songs kind of bored me, but not usually for long before I was whisked away to enjoyment again.
40. 12 Golden Country Greats - Ween (1996)
Rating: 3/10
Fav Songs: I'm Holding You, You Were the Fool
Notes: Another coworker rec from a guy who was VERY upset I'd never given Ween a chance. This one is tough because I can see the clear and present artistry, but Ween is just... Not for me. I listened to some of their other stuff with similar disinterest, so it isn't just the stab at country, either. However, it's still a fun album.
41. けものたちの名前 - ROTH BART BARON (2019)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Skiffle Song, 春の嵐, iki
Notes: Felt like I was due another foreign language album, so I gave ROTH BART BARON a listen. Japanese folk is always awesome. I love the almost jazz-fusion aspects of this album and it has great flow. His voice is gorgeous, and the trumpet and violin are working overtime here.
42. Sound & Color - Alabama Shakes (2015)
Rating: 4/10
Fav Songs: Gemini, Gimme All Your Love
Notes: This started off badly because I asked my followers for R&B recs, and this is decidedly a funk/soul album. Not what I was looking for, and not my vibe. The singer is AMAZING but I feel like the rest wasn't quite as good as her, and a lot of it songs sounded very similar. Objectively, I'm sure anyone who likes funk would get more out of it.
43. Indian Yard - Ya Tseen (2021)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Close the Distance, A Feeling Undefined, Light the Torch
Notes: Cool album and another blind rec. Very varied and experimental, which is what you'd expect from an artist of physical design dipping into music for the first time. I LOVED the hiphop elements, and the features were great. A few songs were kinda droning and didn't totally land. But an incredible first effort.
44. Hit Me Hard and Soft - Billie Eilish (2024)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: WILDFLOWER, THE GREATEST, LUNCH
Notes: I probably would not have listened to this so soon after it was released if not for some friendly pestering. It's good! It's about what I expect from Billie. The slow songs are beautiful, she always captures this hollow feeling that is very special, and the fast songs are... Weird! I see the artistry, but I kinda wish there was something more surprising from Billie on this album.
45. Young, Loud, and Snotty - Dead Boys (1977)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Sonic Reducer, Down in Flames, High Tension Wire
Notes: GREAT rec from a coworker that I'm surprised I wasn't already aware of. I love classic punk, and the Dead Boys are CLASSICCCC punk. Still, they manage to capture something totally unique, too- especially in songs like High Tension Wire.
46. You're a Man Now, Boy - Raleigh Ritchie (2016)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Werld is Mine, Bloodsport '15, Keep It Simple
Notes: This was a spontaneous choice upon learning that Jacob Anderson has a music career. But boy, I don't regret it. Jacob's unique mix of trip-hop, soul, and rap create a truly incredible album. His flow is AMAZING, and his accent is so charming. Can't wait to listen to his other stuff AND he has a third dropping later this year.
47. Bigger, Better Faster, More! - 4 Non-Blondes (1992)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Morphine & Chocolate, Superfly, Pleasantly Blue
Notes: I'd never listened to 4 Non-Blondes beyond Whats Up, and obviously that was a huge mistake. I didn't realize how capable Linda Perry was at sounding exactly like Robert Plant. But their rock sound is also so wholey unique, it's not totally fair to compare them to Led Zeppelin... I wish there was more!
48. Self-Titled - The Philharmonik (2018)
Rating: 6/10
Fav Songs: Underdog, Neon Lights, Good Day
Notes: Similar notes to the Ya Tseen album, though I liked it a bit less. Good stuff, can get experimental but you really feel the album flow.
49. Disco - Kylie Minogue (2020)
Rating: 10/10
Fav Songs: Magic, Real Groove, Supernova
Notes: Was starting to wonder if I'd ever get another 10/10! I was in a random Disco mood and stumbled on "Magic", which I immediately fell in love with. Listened to this whole album and it's just magical. I've never given Kylie much thought at all, but now I think she might be genius.
50. American Hero - Towa Bird (2024)
Rating: 7.5/10
Fav Songs: This Isn't Me, Boomerang, Sorry Sorry
Notes: The first of some summer releases I've been looking forward to. AMAZING first album from Towa. Her voice is so unique, but it's obvious that she's a guitar player first and foremost. The album is almost centered around the guitar, and it's pure artistry. Can't wait for more from her.
51. iTopia - The Get Right Band (2023)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: The Outrage Machine, Generation Happy or Dead, Miracle/Mess
Notes: Very topical to the 'now'. Almost too topical, because I think it works best as a single, long listen. But oh, who cares. It's a great album and you can tell the artists put a lot of thought into it. Thanks to whichever follower recommended it!
52. Nebraska - Bruce Springsteen (1982)
Rating: Once again, how do I even rate him?/10
Fav Songs: My Fathers House, Nebraska, Open All Night
Notes: Another Springsteen listen. I think I liked the overall cohesiveness of "Born in the USA" more, but "My Fathers House" quickly became a favorite Springsteen song. It's so gutting. I don't even know how to write about it. This album is very emotional.
53. The New South - Hank William Jr. (1977)
Rating: Yee Haw/10
Fav Songs: You're Gonna Change, Tennessee, Feelin' Better
Notes: Another coworker rec that I was hesitant about because HWJ is such a colossal asshole. But I'm trying not to let the rep of the artist influence my work, here. Very cool album- reminiscent of Waylon Jennings and Hank's voice is just amazing.
54. Big Ideas - Remi Wolf (2024)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Toro, Wave, Cinderella
Notes: Another highly anticipated summer release, and it doesn't disappoint. Remi is a rising star and I just love her way with words.
55. RMCM - Richy Mitch & the Coal Miners (2017)
Rating: 4/10
Fav Songs: Evergreen, Lucerne
Notes: This was a coworker rec but I was already pretty familiar with Evergreen. I wanted this album to be better but it's not offensive, either. Good for a summer morning listen but there's not anything that impressive or unique about it.
56. Stick Season - Noah Kahan (2023)
Rating: 10/10
Fav Songs: Dial Drunk, Call Your Mom, Paul Revere
Notes: I've been hearing about Noah for years, but I just never got around to him. Now I'm kicking myself for it because this album is AMAZING.
57. Blame My Ex - The Beaches (2023)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Me & Me, Edge of the Earth, Blame Brett
Notes: These girls are unrealized genius. The satire of songstress womanhood that flows through this album is incredibly smart, only overshadowed by how genuinely catchy everything is. The speed up at the beginning of Me & Me is so god damn fun.
58. DEAD ENDS AND DIVERSIONS - Raleigh Ritchie (2024)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Security, Hyperventilating, iLie
Notes: Another anticipated summer album, and the first slight disappointment. This album is still great, but it's a bit of a let down from "You're a Man Now, Boy". It also feels quite short because a lot of it is live performances of older songs. But overall, Jacob never truly misses.
59. Halo - Bakar (2023)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Facts_Situations, Alive!, Hell 'n Back
Notes: This was a coworker recommendation that was a bit blind for both of us, because he could only tell me that his teen kids like it. But those kids have great taste! A little weird doing two back-to-back British hip-hop albums, but they couldn't be more different. Bakar's music really capture's that Saturday morning R&B vibe.
60. Marigold - Pinegrove (2020)
Rating: 6/10
Fav Songs: Dotted Line, No Drugs, Endless
Notes:
61. Bismillah - Peter Cat Recording Co. (2019)
Rating: 5/10
Fav Songs: Floated By, Remain in Me
Notes:
62. Paradise State of Mind - Foster the People (2024)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Lost in Space, See You in the Afterlife, Take Me Back
Notes:
63. Discovery - Electric Light Orchestra (1979)
Rating: 6/10
Fav Songs: Last Train to London, Don't Bring Me Down, The Diary of Horace Wimp
Notes:
64. I Saw the TV Glow OST - Multiple Artists (2024)
Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Starburned & Unkissed, Claw Machine, Psychic Wound
Notes:
65. Tourist History - Two Door Cinema Club (2010)
Rating: 7/10
Fav Songs: Undercover Martyn, What You Know, Cigarettes in the Theatre
Notes:
66. This Empty Northern Hemisphere - Gregory Alan Isakov (2009)
Rating: 9/10
Fav Songs: Big Black Car, If I Go I'm Goin', Evelyn
Notes:
67. Preachers Daughter - Ethel Cain (2022)
Rating: 10/10
Fav Songs: Strangers, Western Nights, American Teenager
Notes:
68. The Money Store - Death Grips (2012)
Rating: /10
Fav Songs: Hustle Bones, The Fever, Lost Boys

Rating: 8/10
Fav Songs: Cesar on a TV Screen, Nothing Matters, Sinner

HI sorry to not ask a silly question via here but i coukdnt find a non business email so sorry!!!recently got back into the newsprints world after i reread it for ghe first time since 6th grade a few days ago(i am now a junior☹️ and decided to purchase headlines but noticed that the quality on all the pages except for the first and last one isnt the best;;which sucked while trying to see the little notes and text next to concept art,,was wondering if there was any other way to view headlines in better quality??ive tried exporting it to google drive and files to no avail im so sorry to bother😭 but if not totally ok i understand!! i get that 1:1 fan issue stuff shoildnt be discussed on your Tumblr Page so if i have to be redirected to someone else my dms r open!!if youre not comfortable with that i completely get it either way thank you for making one of the defining books of my preteen years!!!!!<33
Hi there! I'm glad you like the NewsPrints series enough to support the little indie artbook I self-published over half a decade ago! I super appreciate it!
I don't think it's a silly question! This is actually kind of a semi-interesting story in book production, if you're interested in the backstory...
HeadLines was originally a limited print run (only 100 were sold), so it was easier to see the notes and art as spreads in a book you could flip through. After they sold out, I was asked to release it in digital, so I did. It sounds like the font size relative to the images is annoying in digital, though, which is a fair critique!
Unfortunately, 2015-16!Ru decided to use That font in That font size because it Looked Nice in print. I didn't even considered digital at the point, so this book is kind of a time capsule of my aesthetic decisions at that point of my life, the good ones and bad ones. x'D
(That reminds me, I remember the physical edition was $30 and personally signed and sealed. I'd be curious to see if any popped up on ebay over the years.)
The digital version is at screen resolution rather than print resolution to prevent someone from printing bootleg copies at the same quality as the official physical book after buying the PDF for $9. The best view size is around 100% in any PDF viewer, ideally on tablet or desktop. You might still have to zoom in a little to read it, though.
Sorry, let's keep the blame on past!Ru. I'm a new person. :'DDD
(The reason that the covers look like they're 2x higher in resolution is that they're actually twice as wide as the interior pages. The covers are 2-page spreads, but I didn't split them like I did the interiors. When the PDF viewer shrinks them to half their size to fit the PDF viewer's format, it does make the resolution seem twice as high, if that makes sense.
I should have probably also halved them so they looked like the interior spreads. You live and learn!)
TLDR: Sorry. The text-image layouts of the book were intentional for print reading, but they require some zooming in and out in digital resolution, but not too much past 100%.
Thank you again for the words of encouragement! I'm glad that Blue's world stuck with you for so long! Looking back at this project does evoke some ~Feelings~ and memories of growing pains. Next time I make another proper artbook like HeadLines, I'll use bigger fonts and/or get someone else to help me do the layouts!

Do you have the chronological order for the “ A little story from the past” sections that you’d be willing to share, or would doing so be revealing/spoiling something?
it's not complete (there's a few more little events to be added in) but here is a broad timeline of the past segments! i have probably forgotten/overlooked something or other somewhere but these are the perils of writing some weird time nonsense

Last year, I made the decision to embark on a deep self inventory. I'd been toting around numerous sketchbooks and notebooks, some I've had since middle school. Not everything in those books is worth keeping. But I needed to revisit each one to understand why I was holding onto them and how my attachment to the contents of those books was serving the person I've become since. As a result, I went from having 7 sketchbooks to having 1. These are some more cutouts I kept from my earlier work. I needed to do this to show myself that I was not simply living my life on autopilot. Up until late 2021 I really believed I had been, and felt like I had little to show for my journey thus far. But after going through 8 sketchbooks and however many notebooks, I learned that was a damb lie LOL. I also learned that some sadness came through in my drawings - so many crying characters.. I didn't expect this for some reason; early in youth I knew I felt sad, but somehow I overlooked drawing as an outlet for my depression. Viewing these aspects of my younger self at 33 gives me a new appreciation for my younger self, and now I can truly see her and let her pain go. I always tried to put on a tough/aloof face, and tell people lies like "I yawned" to explain being teary-eyed when really I was crying. I was deeply sensitive to hurtful/hostile words and energy, and always sharply aware of when someone was being unkind about me to my face and behind my back. To Parents and Teachers - pay attention to what your kids are drawing, especially the presence of emotion or lack thereof in their work. And anytime you think a child can't hear you giving strong opinions about them, express carefully because they may hear everything and internalize the critiques, be it from their adults or their peers. Sometimes it takes 30-something years for a person to grow thick skin, because that's not how every person is meant to navigate the world. Some people may view emotional sensitivity as a weakness, but I consider it a Strength and a form of Intelligence that could stand to be nurtured more. I also happen to think it is the hallmark of an old soul. So be kind and pay attention. #healing #depression https://www.instagram.com/p/CoL-drWMtVg/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hello Faye :) based on your Writeblr intro and your blog, I think you would like my WIP and I'm looking for beta readers or beta swaps. Do you have something I can beta read in exchange? It's currently 33k, but you don't have to read everything I have written. I'm not looking for critique (yet) but mostly just need someone to help troubleshoot the main character with. She is very flat.
It is inspired by Harry Potter (though I don't support her terf nonsense), in that it takes place at a magical school. The main character is a female teen who lives with her grandmother who is losing her memory. Because of this, the main character doesn't know that they have magical blood. She ends up at a magical school and becomes part of a diverse friend group. My favorite thing about the work is the world. I love the world I have written. Magic and magical creatures everywhere :) I don't like the main character, and I need to make her more interesting and substantive. Let me know if you are interested and/or have a work I can read/help with as well! There are LGBTQIA+ characters but I'll let you be surprised which!
Oh my goodness, apologies for the late reply! Thank you so much for the opportunity to beta read your WIP! I think it's super awesome you're reaching out to other writers and I would SO interested in taking a look over it based on content. It sounds super interesting! Also, no worries on the JKR comment. I think a lot of people have been inspired by her work by some degree but you can appreciate the work and not like the author, haha. I have no issues reading over and giving a general opinion (I gotcha on the no constructive criticism yet). It definitely sounds up my alley with magic, magic creatures, a diverse cast, and LGBT+ characters.
I'm currently in the last semester of college and am super busy with graduation stuff but I would definitely be interested in beta reading when I can and helping you out with general advice/opinions. <33
Just let me know. :)

if you want any tips for writing meltdowns, heres what it feels like for me (different autistic ppl have different experiences tho, this is just how i feel):
meltdowns for me are like being a cornered animal. like I feel irritable, and like i could snap at any second. my internal monologue is just 'get out get out get out get out' as I struggle to get out of whatever situation I'm in asap. I can't interact with people, I go completely non-verbal, and anyone touching me makes me freak out. meltdowns are so uncomfortable and painful, and I always end up crying. I feel like screaming, like there's this EXTREME energy inside of me that needs to get out. it's like there's a bunch of ants in my bloodstream.
I need all the lights off, nothing touching me, and complete silence and/or my favourite soft music playing in my headphones. I mainly need space, to just stim (mainly sitting on the ground and rocking back and forth) or floor time (where I just lie with my entire body pressed to the floor). the best thing for others to do is give me space. maybe send me some text messages of some cute cat videos, or something relating to my special interest. as I start to calm down, I usually reach out to other people for comfort, and my favourite thing to do is to just lie down on the floor next to someone in a dark quiet room and listen to music together. no talking, only communicating through text. it takes about 1-3 hours to calm down completely, and then about another 24 hours to just rest and reset (it can take longer tho).
that's my experience! I hope it helps give you at least a little insight :)
I really appreciate how you reached out to us before writing anything that you might not know about, it's really thoughtful <33
holy shit this was very helpful i am using this as a bible when i get to writing a longer fic again thank you so so so so much for all this <3
also everyone pretty please feel free to critique when i do write it because i can always edit and improve and stuff :) i really appreciate you all. giving you internet hugs rn (especially u anon thank you so much)

10) Is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?
17) What is something you recently felt proud of in your writing?
30) Have you noticed your style change over time?
31) What fic meant the most to you to write?
32) A character you enjoy making suffer.
33) A character you want to protect.
thank you for the ask!!
10: A character or ship I'd like to write for…. I still haven't written any Percifrey (Rodrigue's Brother/Godfrey von Riegan, which is a totally legitimate ship that I'm sure many others before me have thought of and--pfffffft held it together pretty good there.) and I really want to explore how Percy's demiromanticism impacts his relationships, and the ways Godfrey helped him explore his identity. They're a very strong pair in my mind and I could write them in canon or a godfrey-lives au or the eh-u but I haven't done any yet… I'd also like to write any number of Rodships, just to bring more into existence. I have a crossover one started but I can do more. I know I can. And I will.
17: Ooooo I'm always proud of my writing! But yesterday I started a fic based on a vibe and pounded it out in a day. It's not getting posted because it's spoilers for ummm. Someone else's fic. That hasn't gotten to that point yet. But maybe someday? I'm proud of whenever I manage to elicit the reaction I intended to, whether by imagery, atmosphere, or the actions taking place. It makes it feel like the piece has been truly completed.
30: I have! I'm going to go to pre-fanfic and say that as a teen I used a lot of really heavy descriptions about setting and atmosphere. Eventually I was given critique that led to my writing becoming extremely sparse and overly-efficient. I still retain a desire to be concise, but I believe I've found my voice since starting the Eh-U those years ago. It certainly changes based on the style I'm writing, but I've felt myself writing with more humour, more honesty, and more appreciation of the story, and I think that comes through! Writing is fun, and I like that I can see it reflected in my style now.
31: Oh that's so hard. I think that Hate to Let You Down (the Eh-U) has a special place because it was my first attempt at fanfiction and it was extremely rewarding. It's hard to recommend it now that what I want out of my writing has changed so much, but I can't deny that aside from a few eeeuhuuuuueee shaky moments it is well written and the amount of character development and the way it's executed is truly impressive.
32: I'm going to say Rufus currently. That is, Rufus as played by the oc known as Rufus Cassius. It's fun to put him in physical torment and discomfort, partly because he's so hot and partly because that's something I sort of tried to avoid writing especially in fanfic I post because of um. How much fun it is. But I am letting go! I am free! I can write whump just how I like it! If we're saying emotional suffering though I do love putting Felicity through it. Mostly it's her own doing but it's so fun seeing her have a crisis.
33: Can I say my oc? I want to protect Mia. She's very close to my heart. And she is so good and nice and able to bring out the character growth of others. And of course Rodrigue. Like sure Wildfire exists but I still am trying to protect him from himself and eventually have him be happy. I want him to have family and safety and peace oughgghg
