Horror Characters Masterlist

Warnings: this is mostly pure fluff - Mike and the reader are in an established relationship, the reader's gender is not described in any way (the main pronouns used are you/yours), Mike calls the reader angel, the reader takes on a caregiver role for Abby, mostly just short and fluffy. This is set before the main events of the movie, when Mike is working as a security guard at the mall.

A/N: So, I've seen so many people in the tags going 'just let him sleep!!! that man is so exhausted!!' and saying that he's too tired to fuck in the way that people are writing fanfics about him. And as much as I love super horny fics, I do thought this up, because I agree - the man should be allowed to sleep. This is largely inspired by that scene in Grey's Anatomy where Meredith walked in and Owen was asleep on Cristina's chest while she was reading a book (I think it was when she was reading through Mer's mom's diaries?) - anyway. I love that scene so much because it shows how easily he sleeps around her because he's so comfortable around her. And that's why it deeply inspired this. Let him sleep.

Mike was exhausted when he came in the door. 

He heaved out a sigh as he closed the door behind him, toeing off his shoes - pure, stiff tiredness radiating through his whole body in the worst way. 

You knew that sound anywhere. 

“Long day?” You inquired gently from your position on the couch, lightly craning your neck to look at him. 

He shuffled further into the house in an almost zombie-like fashion, only giving you a solitary grunt in response. 

You felt kind of bad that he had been stuck at work late when you had been lucky enough to have a morning shift and been treated to a relaxing evening with Abby. She was a relatively easy kid to take care of, and generally fun to be around. 

And after you had put her to bed, you laid out on the couch, relaxing and reading a novel that your friend had recommended. Generally, you were having a nice evening. And it seemed that Mike was not. 

As you kept an eye on Mike, you folded over the page of your book to mark it and put it on the coffee table for later. 

“Dinner’s on the counter.” You told him. “I made lasagna. I can heat it up for you if you want.” 

You hated that before he started dating you, all he knew was freezer burnt crap - but you were slowly showing him how to cook, and a world of vegetables that didn't come in a can. 

Mike took off his jacket and the heavy belt he had to wear for work (his large walkie talkie and his taser were in his locker at work, as mandated, but the thing was still damn uncomfortable) and he hung them both up. 

He didn’t respond to your queries about dinner as he walked around the couch. Instead of speaking, seeing you laying there so relaxed - the sight was all too inviting, and he eased himself to lay on top of you in a form of very natural intimacy before he grunted a few words into your neck. 

“Did Abby eat?” He asked softly as he laid on top of you. 

It was oddly comforting to have the bulk of his weight on top of you, especially as he melted against you, letting out a small moan as the tension melted out of his bones. He adjusted himself to get more comfortable and his face rested against the softness of your chest - you glanced down to see that his eyes were drifting closed. 

“She ate two platefuls, and had some peas.” You assured him. “Did her homework, had a bath, and she practiced her spelling words before she went to bed.” 

Mike grunted again - a more positive pitch to this one. He couldn't ask for anyone better than you. Sometimes he worried about her - all the time. But when Abby was with you, that worry lessened a lot. 

“You’re an angel.” He hummed against your chest. “I don’t-” He let out a gentle yawn. “I don’t know how I got so lucky with you.” 

“You look hot in a uniform and my job at the bookstore gets boring.” You replied, half-joking about the circumstances of how your relationship with Mike had formed. 

You reached out to him and began running your fingers through his hair, soothing him even further into the realm of sleep with the comforting touch. 

He let out another tired moan in reply - something that almost stretched into a rolling sound with the gentle pleasure of your hand in his hair. With the way his body was so slack against yours, his breathing even and quiet, you knew this was only leading one place. 

“You wanna go get ready for bed?” You asked gently. 

“In a minute.” He answered softly, barely parting his lips to get the words out. 

You glanced over to the table and reached out, picking your book back up as his breathing deepened and his body went even more slack. You were preparing to get comfortable for the next few hours. You weren’t all that tired yourself, and you still had a few chapters left to go. When you got to the next chapter, he began to snore lightly and you felt drool dripping down your neck - which didn’t bother you all that much. You found it cute, in fact. 

You were comforted by the fact that he relaxed enough around you to get such a good sleep. You knew that he needed it.

Please ramble about Tedstina I’m a total truther lol. Their chemistry was SO intense and palpable from the second Teddy stepped on screen and I agree about them not getting together whilst Teddy was mentoring her but I always thought the Henry plot was a perfect lead in to them developing something long term. Like in my head Cristina dumps Owen after he makes her lie about Henry and in Teddy’s grief and Cristina’s guilt they get closer, eventually sleeping together and then dating. Out of all the couples something about them both being so stubborn but also so clear eyed, ambitious and somewhat cold makes them the most likely to last in my opinion. A little line with Burke but this time they actually know and like each other lmao. And it would definitely be a little twisted since Cristina technically ‘killed’ Henry and then dated his widow but also it’s no darker than other weird romance plots on greys lol. Plus they would’ve been hot as hell 😭

yess you get it. okay but be forewarned this is a true ramble- it may only be vaguely coherent as i’m just going off the cuff.

exactly the chemistry is genuinely insane!!!! the thing about greys that bums me out in the early seasons is that they had an aversion to making any of their main female characters canonically queer. like, i get it, bc getting the callie storyline out there was an uphill battle. but it’s like they want to be explicitly clear all the time that cristina and meredith are both very very Straight. and that’s a whole other thing i could go on about. all this to preface that i think if the show aired now, cristina would be canonically openly queer right out the gate.

by the time teddy came along, it was still pretty early in the owen/cristina and so he hadn’t really done anything yet to make him quite so hate-able. and after hahn there was a big gap left where cristina was sorely lacking in a good mentor. burke was almost a good mentor but then you know they started canoodling and he eventually got frustrating. hahn just straight up refused to teach cristina despite her clear enthusiasm and untapped talent. then teddy comes in and it’s like…. she’s brilliant, she’s not put off by cristina’s cristinaness and she actually seems to be interested in the teaching aspect of working at a teaching hospital (which was fucking rare at that point). so i was immediately drawn to the teddy-cristina dynamic. especially with the complication of owen being the common link.

i could go on a whole other ramble about teddy and the long lasting effects that stemmed from allison’s death and the guilt about that infidelity but suffice to say by the time we meet teddy she’s pretty messed up about love.

and as we know, cristina has a long history of being attracted to mentor figures.

i think that with teddy’s infatuation with owen being shut down on his end pretty early on (despite him doing a total one eighty in the later seasons and claiming to have always loved her 🙄) it opened the door for her to realize WHY she was attracted to him in the first place (a best friend she made in a war zone shortly after the allison tragedy, him already being in a relationship).

SO anyway teddy meets cristina. they’re both in love (?🙄) with owen, they are both passionate about the same specialty, they both have tragedy and failed romance in their pasts.

and i see what you mean about them being very similar. but they are also opposite (and therefore perfectly complimentary) in a lot of ways. i personally think teddy is a lot more optimistic than she appears. she’s not easily discouraged. i also like that right off the bat she recognizes cristina’s talent, takes a liking to her, and is kind of just impervious to cristina’s dislike/wariness of her. i think it’s so funny how almost everyone but meredith is at first really put off by cristina’s bluntness or outright offended by her but teddy is just like “i respect your skill, i’m not gonna take any shit, i know i’m great at my job so let me do it and we’ll be chill”

i think that the conversation about teddy wanting to leave and cristina begging her to stay and yelling that teddy can have owen was a turning point for both of them. i think they both had a lot of revelations.

AND THEN i think the saga of henry’s death was also a major turning point for their relationship. i don’t think this would make their relationship that twisted tbh bc i don’t think teddy ever saw it that way. i think if she blamed anyone other than herself, it was owen (which, yeah bc the way he handled that was fucking bonkers). and i’ve seen a lot of frustrating stuff (mostly on tiktok lol which i have to stay away from bc there’s rarely any nuance on there when it comes to fandom/media discussions) about how teddy repeatedly grilling cristina about henry’s death was the worst thing she ever did and she was punishing cristina or something. but i think that that isn’t true at all in the slightest. it was fucked up and brutal and it was a grief response that was terribly unfair to cristina, but i think it actually showed the two of them being on the same wavelength in a lot of ways. cristina isn’t fazed (at least visibly) by teddy’s need to hear it over and over. bc i think she understood why teddy needed to hear it. they both deal with grief by making it about the facts and about the medicine. teddy needed to know that there is nothing anyone could have done to save him so that she doesn’t feel like she has another death on her hands. and i think cristina gets that because of her backstory with her fathers death. AGAIN i think they just get each other in ways that owen never got either of them.

AND HOW COULD I NOT MENTION THAT TEDDY HAS ACTUALLY SAID “i’m in love with cristina yang”

Do I kill of Burke in my fic yes or no?

(Context: this is set somewhere after *spoilers for the early teddy seasons* Teddy tries to leave and Cristina tells her to take Owen so she’ll stay. Burke isn’t working at the hospital still (as is canon), he has his own life and a family(my own addition), but Cristina calls him and basically tells him to come to Seattle for a surgery he has to have done.

It’s not at all in a romantic way, if that helps. There is no romantic tension or old feelings arising, he’s just a plot device I can’t stress that enough.)

You really gotta suspend your disbelief for TV shows sometimes. It's just so painfully eye rolly how a board made of mostly couples who got together while working (Derek and Meredith, Callie and Arizona, Cristina and Owen - only one of whom didn't get together while one of them was the others superior) dictates whether or not other people can date within the hospital.

I get it's meant to protect people. And it's not necessarily a bad rule on its own. It's just the height of hypocrisy for these people of all people to be the ones lecturing others about it.

Comparison + Analysis

Capricorn Sun in the 5H / Aries Sun in the 9H

Now there is a difference here, even though they are both cardinal signs, this is an either or. In my opinion of Cristina’s personality & ego, she is a highly ambitious, calculating, and at times quite dry Capricorn Sun. Her career is her lifeline and without it she has no direction; no compass. Her sole goal in life is to become the absolute best in her field. While she is still very hardworking and practical, she also knows when to let loose and enjoy a moment. Cristina is known for her wild side, and in the first series of the show, she drove a motorcycle to work and began a secret affair with her new mentor. Fun is never far from Cristina’s life, even in the hardest of times, and she takes those moments in fully when they come. She has a great value for life and the joy and pain that comes with it, she understands the hardships in life, and she understands a true loss from a young age. Losing her father at the age of nine most certainly had an affect on her, as she was not able to help him, which is something that would absolutely kill a Capricorn sun. Being of help to the ones they love is of great importance and at times can be seen as a duty to them. Seeing how Cristina extends this want and need to save others’ lives and fix them after not being able to save her father (specifically their hearts; 5H energy) shows how much of an impact that loss made on her direction in life and how she approaches life itself. I personally do not see enough qualities in Cristina for her to be an Aries Sun, as she has similarities, but it seems more appropriate for another placement rather than her sun.

Capricorn Moon in the 6H / Cancer Moon in the 12H

As for Cristina’s moon placement, these two are complete opposites, and I’m going to be biased again simply because Cristina does not warrant enough Cancer moon qualities. Her emotions stay deeply buried to those around her unless they are very special to her (ie. Meredith, Preston, & Owen). She also is not one to be very nurturing or empathetic to those experiencing hardships unless they are heavily traumatizing or involves someone she knows. Even then, her reaction is usually dry or completely detached emotionally. Emotional closeness often makes her uncomfortable and she avoids it with her work, mindless conversation, or tequila. Opening up does not come naturally to her, and in my opinion, that’s a Capricorn moon if I’ve ever met one. With her Capricorn moon in the 6H, her emotional well-being literally revolves around her work. When work is not going well, Cristina is usually not doing so well either, and is racked with emotional turmoil. For example, after the mass shooting at the hospital, Cristina didn’t come back to work for months due to the trauma she experienced, regardless of how much she really wanted to get back in the OR (which in turn just made everything worse). She is definitely one to be in complete denial of her true emotions. She will however accept a challenge head-on, willing to do whatever it takes in order to excel and/or keep her position at the hospital. The people (either co-workers or superiors) that come into her life at work also soften her heart a bit, for example her relationship with her mentor at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Thomas.

Leo Ascendant at 11°/10°

As for Cristina’s ascendant, I was able to choose both the sign and degrees, so both are my personal opinion. Cristina, despite her practical and hardworking demeanor, is a very fun-loving and bright person. She is loyal to the people she chooses to be in her close circle and is willing to step up for them whenever they need her. She is the one in the room that everyone knows about already, due to her reputation and shining personality. Also did I mention her hair? Come on. Her ego is most definitely inflated due to her Leo ascendant, as she will always see herself as the best in her class, the smartest, the sexiest, the funniest, etc. She is also not shy to voice that if anyone dares to challenge her. Her movements as well, I’ve noticed as watching her character, are very feline and quick. She reacts quickly and usually physically, so her being a Leo ascendant really just fits perfectly in my opinion. As for the degree of her Leo ascendant, I feel as though 11° is more suitable due to her natural innovativeness and rebellious tendencies.

Sagittarius Mercury in the 5H / Aries Mercury in the 9H

This placement for Cristina was a bit challenging for me mainly because I can see her having both of these mercuries. She is never one to shy away from wanting to learn, even to a fault, at times. Her eagerness to be the first one to try a technique in the OR, or the first for their solo surgery, or first at anything. She communicates quickly and sharply, with no words wasted, and those words usually sting. Cristina is not going to sugarcoat a thing. She also has no filter whatsoever and her mouth tends to get her in trouble due to her lack of awareness and empathy. Her laughter is also highly contagious and quite loud and you don’t even need to know what she’s laughing for, it’s still hilarious. In light of this, I feel like Sagittarius mercury is more fitting for her, it would also make sense astrologically other than Aries (as that wouldn’t be possible with her being a Capricorn). With her mercury being in the 5H, her conversations mainly consist of her love life, children, pleasure, etc. Cristina is often seen discussing her current love and sex life with Meredith and we all know how she feels about children. Despite her not ever having a desire to be a mother and despite how good she is with them, she finds herself in a repetitive conversation regarding having children with Owen over many years. This is a great example of Cristina’s mental fortitude when it pertains to her personal desires. Her opinion or standpoint will not be swayed, no matter what or who is involved, especially if it goes against her own moral and life compass. She is very headstrong, knowledge-seeking, and often arrogant.

Aquarius Venus in the 6H / Taurus Venus in the 10H

Another opposite and again I will be biased here. I personally do not see Cristina’s Venus being in Taurus due to there not being enough qualities for it to be plausible (also it wouldn’t make sense). The way Cristina loves romantically is erratic and unique and she normally goes for the person you’d least expect her to. People who are inspiring and just as independent as she is are the ones that catch her eye. Her love is casual, jealousy or possessiveness is not really her thing, and a free-loving/free-thinking bond is what she truly desires. She is highly attracted to wisdom and intelligence and wants to learn from and with people she loves. Despite her being nonchalant in love, she does love very deeply, and when she decides to commit to someone it is the real thing. Extreme Aquarius Venus vibes. As a 6H Venus, she usually winds up in relationships with those she works with (whether it be a co-worker, subordinate, or superior) and this is a very common theme for her. Before the end of the first season, she is in a relationship with one her new mentors at Seattle Grace, and it is later revealed that she is definitely the type to look like she’s sleeping her way to the top; even though that isn’t the case. Her love is service oriented at times, especially when her partner is sick or hurting, and she will drop almost everything but work to help them. Despite how her love appears, it is a subtle and warm love that shows to be a constant with her friendly and romantic relationships.

Capricorn Mars in the 6H / Leo Mars in the 12H

As for Cristina’s mars, I thoroughly side with it being in Capricorn. Her reactions are calculated and realistic, and her drive is at an all time high, especially her sex drive. Her mars placement shines through quite strongly in certain moments and shows her capability of dealing with problems under great stress. Even when she’s out of her mind she still somehow keeps it together until she knows the job is done. For example, after the plane crash, despite her experiencing extreme shock and physical trauma; she was able to tend to others with injuries and find resources to keep (almost) everyone alive until rescue came. Her determination and self preservation skills prove to be very useful to her in the series, and especially in her work, with her mars falling in her 6H. Cristina lives at Seattle Grace, she is known throughout staff to be extremely efficient and hardworking, and the one thing that truly drives her is her work. Her work keeps her focused and sane and without it she really doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing. Even once, when the residents were forced to take time off from the hospital due to overtime, she still found a way into the hospital to work. Her job is her lifeline and there’s no changing that. The only thing that could keep her away is pure exhaustion or illness and you’ve got to love her for it. A boss bitch tbh.

Sullivan 

Sullivan rejected Andy at first and one of the reasons he did not promote Andy was to protect his job. He unilaterally announced their marriage despite Andy’s protest. She was even ambivalent about her decision to marry him. He decided he loved her so he could make decisions for her. It was all about what he wanted. Later, he thought Andy owed it to him to stay in the marriage cos he got sober for her. He presumed Andy looked down on him as a grunt and never paused to consider her issue with his moral ambiguity and ruthlessness. With Ross, he wanted to make it public at her expense, even wanting her to quit for him. He unilaterally applied for a job that would be hours away from Ross w/o telling her and wanted to out them. That seemed like an ultimatum and retaliation for not promoting him. 

In his relationships, Sullivan only cared about himself, whether privately or professionally. Whether it was Ripley, Andy or Ross. When Dixon was gloating over Ripley’s death, he merely made a weak protest so as not to offend Dixon. With Ross, he only cared about what he was getting out of the relationship. He wanted Ross to make sacrifices for him. Despite his ambition and intense desire to be promoted, he asked Ross to quit for him. He very well knew how hard it was for her to get to where she was. When the secret of their affair was out, he was more concerned about his ego and that others gossiped about him. He knew that lying to Andy, his ex and closest friend at 19, was triggering for her and he lied to her anyway, while simultaneously telling Andy to stop helping Jack cos he lied about his whereabouts, not at all empathetic of Jack’s situation. 

He told Maya that her demotion and her bullying by Beckett were entirely her own fault and that playing the political game to get her job back was stupid. When he was rightly stripped of his ranks, he was indignant and used many excuses to justify himself. His huge ego was bruised from his perceived slights from the team and Andy. He undermined Maya and was displeased that Maya made Andy acting captain. He undermined Andy and dismissed her feelings. Ben told him that it was her time, that being with a competent woman also meant allowing them the space to shine. He later tried to steal Maya's job. He convinced himself he did it for Andy, and to save 19. He then justified to Andy that she could not fault him for making moves to advance his career. He was unwilling to make sacrifices or change for Andy but kept pushing her to become more cunning like him.

Derek, Owen 

Sullivan is so similar to Derek and Owen. As Owen bitterly and jealously named Meredith and Cristina the twisted sisters, I call them the toxic brothers. They were always playing the victim or martyr while being passive-aggressive or were straight up aggressive. They both loved ambitious and competent women but wanted them to become smaller to accommodate for their huge egos. During their breakups with Meredith and Cristina respectively, they dated other women who were more accommodating to them. But they dumped them cos they were too accommodating and they were bored. 

Derek got into a relationship with Meredith w/o telling her he was still married. He perceived himself as the sole victim in his marriage to Addison. After reluctantly choosing to try again with Addison cos he didn’t want to be the bad guy, he slut-shamed Meredith. He blamed Meredith for tampering with his trials for Adele and he couldn't accept the possibility of Meredith surpassing him in Neuro so he banned her as a punishment. He thought his career was more important than Meredith’s and unilaterally decided they should move for his career. But one redeeming quality of Derek was his respect for Cristina's role in Meredith’s life. He made an effort to be on good terms with her and during her PTSD, he helped her cos she saved his life. And he did it on her terms and did not force her like Owen did.     

From the start, Owen did not respect Cristina’s agency and rights as a woman. He insisted on a relationship with her when she clearly told him their incompatibility and that she would never want kids. He was jealous that she chose Teddy and Cardio over him and he tried to sabotage her mentorship under Teddy. He was displeased when Meredith saw right thru him and that he was no good for Cristina. He wanted to replace Meredith as her person yet instead of trying to understand who Cristina was, he imposed his idea of who he thought she should be on her. He pushed Cristina to marry him when she was suffering from PSTD. He was reluctantly there with Cristina when she had an abortion cos Meredith told him that Cristina was like Ellis and it would wreck her to have a kid. He later called her a murderer for her abortion. He was mad when she worked hard and found a way to save a dying man because he grew attached to his kid and wanted to adopt him. He dismissed her as a silly, immature woman who didn’t know what she wanted and would definitely come to her senses cos he could not fathom that not wanting kids was a thing. 

He was very patriarchal and condescending towards his sister and his mum too. He always insisted he was right, no matter what. Burke loved Cristina enough to leave her cos he saw that they were very similar. He saw that she was losing her spark in changing herself to accommodate him.
