Hello! I am in the middle of a td hyperfixation, and my brain has chosen Mike and his system as The Precious, so I was super happy to see a blog producing content for my beloved. For a question, because I'd like to see another hc/idea, what do you think happened that landed their system in juvie?

I think Mal was the host during this time, I think he wanted to be in juvie a bit just to get away from his parents but was mad that he couldn’t do whatever he wanted to do.

Mal got them landed in juvie in the first place. He was a very reckless petty criminal but got away with most bc he was good at manipulation, which he learned from trying to survive his abusive parents.

Then, one day Vito got into a pretty public fight with someone, Mal came out and resisted arrest too. Both Mal and Vito acted very rude in probation and broke the rules of it a lot. Mal leaning more towards petty theft and Vito towards picking fights. Obviously they found out, and he got sent to juvie.

They didn’t know they were a system before they had a court ordered psychiatrist visit them in juvie on account of staff noticing he has a “possible trauma disorder” because he was having PTSD episodes and switching a lot (it wasn’t as obvious, but his opinions and reactions kept rapidly changing).

I think Mike was scared out of his MIND!!!! He didn’t want to be there at all. He didn’t even feel like he deserved to be in there because he was following rules and doing what he needed to do, he didn’t know about Mal and Vito breaking rules at that time but once he found out he was even more confused and scared that he was having these blackouts. He thought he was secretly evil or something.

Mike actually fronted a lot in juvie. Mal used this to his advantage to gain people’s trust to get closer to them.

Mike doesn’t like the fact he was ever in juvie. He keeps it as a secret because he’s extremely conscious about his image. He feels like his mental problems and family issues are enough to drive people away, he doesn’t need more of a reason for people to leave him.

Manitoba wasn’t created yet, Chester was aware of everything and he complained about it all the time, and Svetlana was too scared to front.

Vito was annoyed to be in Juvie but he was very social in it, which was a good and bad thing. He met a lot of people he got along with, and a lot he didn’t. And Vito has a problem with anger and fighting, which got them a lot longer of a stay. He made quite a lot of friends despite that, none of which he ever saw again.

Mal wasn’t keen on making friends, he preferred to get to know people only so he could use them to do his bidding, get him things, and make living there easier for him. He used people for money a lot and stole from his “friends”. But he always kept buddy-buddy with them out of obligation.

He did find tormenting those who already didn’t like them fun. He had a lot of pent up aggression from dealing with abuse, and took it out on those around him. He would do just horrible shit that would intimidate anyone from messing w/ him.

Duncan was SCARED of him. He totally didn’t cross his path unless approached, which he was only really asked for money and supplies which he always gave them.

Mal was sooooo theatrical. Obviously, his signature whistle that he would do walking down the hall. He also did it when he was about to confront someone, so thats how people would know shit was about to go down.

People stayed away from Mike a lot because they knew what would happen if they didn’t. Mike was very lonely and he didn’t like Vito’s friends at all so he would try to avoid them. He just assumed they wanted something from him, he didn’t know they were already established friends with him.

A lot of people think Mal lost a tooth in a fistfight, but honestly I see it more as his parents never giving him dental care. (Image of baby eating sand with the caption I let him eat sand because I dont like him)

His parents called him in juvie, mostly to yell at him for being such a bad child and “ruining their family”. Mal didn’t let this bother him, but Mike took it hard and hated himself.

Mal never wanted to leave juvie, it was like a vacation from abuse. At Vito’s age the abuse towards him had already stopped but he was glad he didn’t have to see his abuser(s) on a regular basis.

When they were forced to get therapy, Mal told everything he knew in order to hopefully bring his parents to justice, but he only got a diagnosis out of it.

Did some cooking in the shower. Headcanon time!

So I’ve established that Kenz loves to steal food, then gorge on the ill gotten gains. This escalates to stealing Atlas’s crops, raiding Atlas’s chicken coop for raw eggs, and even raiding local pet stores and eating their fish, rodents, birds, and rabbits. This all comes down to long stifled instincts that are suddenly coming out leading to criminal records and a feral Kenz who will bite everyone and everything. And when they bite, they draw a lot of blood, which if the target isn’t human, they drink a lot of through licking the wound and latching on constantly.

But you know what they love more? Settling feuds with species, yes, entire species, that have evoked their wrath. Rats and mice chewed up half their books and plushies when they were ten. Every rat and mouse they see, they eat. They eventually leave the crops and eggs alone and devour the marauding rodent population of not just Atlas’s homestead, but farms across Gravity Falls. They also eat entire hills of ants because they got into their cinnamon rolls and strawberry shortcake biscuits that one time. The shack has zero ant problems after this.

This prey drive escalates to them hunting any rodent or lagamorph pest that gets into the garden. And they can digest bone, so nothing goes to waste. Kenz still goes on plant binges at times, but it’s with feral vegetation that isn’t regulated by farmers. However, they’re quite the glutton when it comes to nectar from flowers. They transform into a rogue bee and goes on flower binges, sometimes getting too heavy to even fly. So they pollinate crops at a much faster rate than traditional bees, but only in short bursts.

Kenz acts a lot like a reactive dog at times. Losing their shit in swearing storms whenever a mail truck arrives or a stag approaches the bird feeder. They’re too smart for any sort of training yet the shifter brainrot just takes over their mind. They’re banned from any view of mail trucks and Atlas gives them all their packages.

One thing that Kenz can’t seem to leave alone is catmint. No one knows why Atlas grows so much of it in his garden, but patches get decimated when Kenz gets in a particular mood. They are often found lying down on the ground too catmint stoned to move. Silvervine also works on them. Catmint and Silvervine aren’t at all dangerous for the user. Kenz also tends to binge on lavender for the antidepressant effects. Atlas’s herb garden is never safe.

Kenz can no longer eat any sort of processed food since their shapeshifter puberty starting. Atlas and Holly can eat normal human things just fine, but Kenz’s system is too sensitive. They ate a lot of processed food and it is just tearing up their mind from accumulated forever chemicals. The only remedy is raw food. They can only eat raw meat when they eat meat. Their system prevents parasites and disease, so they can eat roadkill off the side of the street. But they prefer fresh kill or even butcher cuts (they have a habit of stealing things just before they get grilled at random barbecues.) They can’t even get prion diseases, so contaminated meat often just gets sent to them for disposal by government agencies.

Okay. I’ve rambled about Kenz’s weird eating habits, which is my current hyperfixation. I’m dead serious when I say that this isn’t any grounds for writing some weird vore or mukbang fic. I just want to fulfill my constant dream of eating raw meat like I’m supposed—

Well…it would have to be either of the ones I killed Beverly in - Last contact or Too Late.

However, as for a multichap ending that ends the most angstiest and wasn’t written to be a character-death-fic - maybe - A Lot Of Things Can Happen In Two Months. Which sucks cause it’s pretty much canon compliant LOL.

Hmm now I am tempted to write another multichap with a less than happy ending…

Most of my fics that have an ‘ending’ are WIPS that I haven’t finished yet lol.

Not really - I doubt anyone cares enough lol. But I am ‘fortunate’ that some of the more ‘controversial’ ships I may write have had writers come before me and take the brunt of any crap :(( but they’ve created a lovely sandbox for the rest of us to play in <3

Not often but I have yeah…and *deep breaths* … I have no idea if I am even acceptable at it LOL. It’s definitely something I sometimes want to add to my fics and lately I’ve been giving in a little.

Not sure how best to answer this. It is very dependant on my current hyperfixation and I am one of those sapphics that very much is into the woman more than the man in terms of interest in f/m ships…

However, at the moment it’s Beverly/Jean-Luc and I can say I am definitely more invested and interested in Jean-Luc’s character than I have been with other men in f/m ships. So that’s another reason.

But I love to read/write Crusher/Janeway ❤️ and LOVE those characters. Kerry/Sandy too is special to me.

Can honestly say apart from helping me give Emily Prentiss a baby in my fics I never cared that much for any of her ships I wrote (sorry 😭).

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but probably won't?

Probably better I don’t answer this. It stresses me out cause I want them all to be done 😭

I’ll answer with a WIP I never posted which was a dystopian AU with Kerry and Sandy. Field medicine, babies (it’s me so ofc) and friends trying to survive together.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Hmm - I think I can come up with some good ideas. I can be good at description and introspection … probably more than dialogue.

And I am very strong in the art of giving Beverly Crusher lots of babies. And also making her go through angsty stuff. But I make up for that with the babies I think.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Long intricate plots ? I would love to be better as balancing many themes and plot points in one story. I struggle with dialogue sometimes as well.

Also I am very word count preoccupied at times which is a hindrance as a writer. I sometimes really struggle to get anything out in a session then can overcompensate later by writing too much? But honestly either way I just let myself go with the flow these days otherwise I stress about it.

Yeah and I probably need to edit better.

And smut.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

These are both not what I would consider my best work (idk what that even is) but probably Gone (Ice)fishing or It Takes A Village.

Both were written as gifts and out of my comfort zone (for different reasons) but I am really proud of them both.

But I also love some of my Kerry/Sandy one-shots I did here on this blog. And Aster is definitely a personal accomplishment in terms of length as a writer. I love it too ❤️.

There's a whole bunch of stories happening simultaneously but the main stuff is Batman has become an official consultant to the police (which fucking sucks but it leads to the Bat Signal being installed and Joker leaving a Valentine's gift for him there), Two Face cracking after the second anniversary of getting acid sprayed to the face and also fueding with the Penguin, Catwoman investigating Ace Chemicals with Vicki Vale which opens up a whole conspiracy, Joker with his nefarious plans for Valentine's Day that totally don't involve anything really gay (/j it's really gay) AND Riddler breaks out of Arkham. That's just season one by the way there's a lot going on. Haven't relistened to season two in a while but what I do remember is Scarecrow selling fear toxin as drugs and Harley Quinn trying to establish herself as a criminal

💎 I think I've said most of these to you but here's a random selection. Rory's VA didn't want to be in the game and begged to be replaced but the refused. There's a "secret scrapped" ending uploaded on YouTube that may actually be from one of the devs (I don't know if it's still up there because I came across it in like 2019/2020). The devs said that video gamers are stupid because they couldn't understand the game (never mind that they wrote it like a novel and didn't adapt for the medium; video games rely on visuals and if you show something people are gonna think it happened unless stated it's a dream!) Sammy Pak is inspired by the real life death and last footage of Elisa Lam. Several lines are straight up plagiarized. The last two have been attempted to be resolved by having a disclaimer that all resemblances to real life are coincidental (despite interviews saying they were inspired by Elisa Lam) and a list of media inspirations added in the title screen.

PHANTOM HEROES: NEW NAVIGATION

As a result of me revamping the lore, I decided to make a new pinned post and talk about the new changes to Phantom Heroes; as well as what to expect going forward with the blog. The AU is under development as I am only one person and unfortunately, I'm a bit busy with real life issues as well.

Though before we get into it, you can call me Howl. You can also call be Bambi or Ghost! I know I mentioned to be called Atlas in an older post, but for the most part - the first three are a-okay with me. I'm an adult, keep that in mind before interacting! PHANTOM HEROES LORE

Phantom Heroes is an alternate universe inspired by South Park's game, "The Fractured But Whole"; including the episodes ft. C**n and Friends, and the Mysterion episodes. Though this does have original concepts which have nothing to do with the canon of South Park!

Years have passed since elementary school and now the once nine-year-olds are in high school, but something has changed in ways they never thought possible. During the summer right before their sophomore/junior terms, a cosmic event hit South Park and somehow, it caused a group of the residents to develop superpowers overnight. Surprisingly, some time after - criminal activity began to go back on the rise and led to the unexpected turn of vigilante Mysterion.

Though it seems even he can't handle all the crime of South Park and times have changed. In completely (un)related notes, however, Kenny McCormick and the rest of his friends, and classmates, are returning to the usual grind of high school.

... and if they happen to leave a double life at nights, well, that's only one part of the package.

(tim drake character rant, he's my current hyperfixation, I hope you don't mind !)

Ok ok, so a fanon misconception about Tim's Robin is a very morally gray compared to the others, only not going around commiting crimes and killing because of Batman but that's not true at all ! In many many comics the character of Tim is stabilished as someone who sees the world as very black and white (many times to a fault) and despises the idea of killing, even reviving Lady Shiva (a very famous assassin, world's best marcial arts fighter) after accidentally killing her while using a superspeed drug (that was a whole thing).

A big exception that I can think of is his time during Red Robin, in which he blows up ALL of the major League of Assassins bases all over the world (though it is never said that anybody died during said explosions, leaving the question of whether he's responsible for a bunch of casualties or not) I like to think that realistically many people must have died but he'll be in denial about that for as long as he can.

During his training to become Robin he went away to train in Paris and accidentally stumbled upon a huge conspiracy and joined an ex fbi agent and Lady Shiva (that was the first time they both met) to stop King Cobra (big criminal dude, fights in the dark, has a cult) for very different reasons, the fbi agent wants revenge for his family's death, Tim wants to do the right thing, Shiva wants to challenge that man to a duel to the death, as she usually does with any strong fighters she hears about.

Somewhere during that trip, Shiva offers to train Tim, and that's where his weapon of choice, the bo staff, comes from ! She tells him to pick a weapon to train with, he picks the bo, because it's really difficult to kill someone with one.

They end up in Hong Kong, they go where King Cobra is, the fbi agent dies, Tim ends up having to fight alone, and after he defeats him, Shiva shows up and tells him to kill the big bad guy at last, to which Tim refuses and leaves to go back to Gotham, officially becoming Robin !

(i could talk more about his time in Young Justice and some of his teen titans comics if you want to hear)

It was a fleeting thought before it escalated into a full blown AU that I didn't plan to happen but they happen anyway. Add with all the ideas and plot bunnies I read through this rabbit hole in tumblr... I an up having an AU...

Ah, not yet... Well, you see...

This is a Damian twins AU where Danny died as a babe cuz he's kinda a still born? Like born premature and is smaller, weaker, sickly, and all the things that Damian is the superior twin. Which cause Ra's to find him useless, as twisted as it maybe for her own way and selfishness Talia beg Ra's to let her keep her younger child.

Danny died when he was 2 yo in a sparring training.

Damian knows he has a younger twin but only remember his name, Danyal, as well as his hyperfixation on space. Other than that, he only knows mostly from stories his grandfather told him (all bad and negatif on how Danyal is a disgrace for being so weak) and his mother (about all the things he couldn't really remember at younger age and how close they were, especially about how he always take care of his brother), Damian always pretend like he didn't care about his dead weak brother when in all honesty, he work hard and train harder to please his mother just so he could hear more stories about his brother.

Talia tried to revive Danyal by dipping him inside of Lazarus Pit, however, he never come back up. He disappear just like that, without any trace leaving Talia devastated but also hopeful that her child might survive somewhere - Ra's wasn't that happy since the failure's disappearance is a variable he didn't like to have especially if the boy lived - Talia work hard to try to find her second child.

Lazarus Pit has its own portal down on the base of the Pit and since Danny as a baby has been in a finicky status of being alive and dead and live close to the pit, he disappear into the portal. Lazarus Pit is honestly just a leak of ectoplasm - corrupted ectoplasm mind you that the ghosts won't even come close or poke with a thousand foot pole even if they don't need to breathe - end up in infinite realm before a natural portal open up and he got sucked into it where he was thrown out to Amity Part, Illinois. The hotspot place full of ectoplasm, he was found unconscious by the Fentons couple and they brought him home where they proceed to adopt him when he woke up without any memories.

That's how Daniel Fenton come to exist, especially with how small he is the townsfolk mistook him as a babe and easily think he's been there his whole life so any thought of him being adopted was just... Never cross their mind especially with his color palette close to Jack's.

But of course, his life wasn't that easy even after he leave the league without knowing it. The adult Fentons are not the best parents, Danny basically was raised by Jazz - his two years older, older sister - since Jazz could cook which was at age 6 (just making pancakes that she learns from the old lady down town, an easy recipe but hard work for the small child) it was edible and she got better as time goes.

Jack and Maddie were so focused on their portal to the so called Ghost Zone they basically didn't have any children (they're not involved in either of the kid's life) at this point but they always makes Danny clean up their mess when they go out hunting. They finish building the portal when Danny was 13 and Jazz was 15, Danny wasn't happy about being in the lab again but he could try for his parents (jazz wa she same). But of course the portal didn't work, distraught both adult left their children unsupervised without any lab safety alone in the lab.

Danny was mad, he was annoyed, angry, livid even.

All those time wasted, for what? For the portal to not working?!

All those years living in a house without love

Well, he's growing up and living in a lab at this point with how many times he has to clean up Jack and Maddie's mess while also makes sure nothing explodes in his face.

He has to survive in this house when his sister is not at home. So he adapt and learn how to survive, he knows how to built and programming since he's the one who set their data and research in the lab. Being the cleaning boy gives him a lot of advantage, so he knows what he's doing.

He's going to make sure the portal would never work.

After all, knowing his parents? They'll get back up again start finding what is wrong with portal then fix it and BAM. The portal would be open OR they would kill everyone within vicinity with a large explosion.

I’ve really enjoyed your writings on JJBA. You got me to see characters like Dio and Jonathan in ways I never thought of. If you’re still up for Bingo, I’d love to hear your thoughts on Giorno

Thank you! I still want to keep doing these, now that my JoJo hyperfixation is back and won't leave me alone for the time being.

I've always really, really loved Giorno, even back when he was pretty universally-panned in fandom circles as the default worst JoJo. The bad scanlations of Vento Aureo and how they butchered the Western popularity of that part are a story everyone's familiar with by now but, honestly? I don't think the fixed scans are what did it for Giorno. I don't even think it was the anime on it's own. I'd argue the main thing that changed Giorno's reception would be the change of voice actor for the anime.

Because for the longest time the main problem fandom had with Giorno was the idea that he was boring, that he was too dispassionate and unemotional and devoid of personality, and for a long time the only frame of reference they had for the character was the manga scanlation, that really did butcher everyone’s dialogue and personality, and All-Star Battle/Eyes of Heaven, with Daisuke Namikawa doing a decent job as the character but not doing much to dissuade people’s perception of Giorno as monotone. In the aftermath of the anime setting the record straight with Kensho Ono’s performance, and especially those goddamn beautiful WRRYYYEAHs he’s doing, that no longer seems to be as big of a complaint as it used to be. I’m not saying the anime “fixed” Giorno, not in the slightest, the anime basically just adapted what was always there for a much bigger audience, and so people got to see more of Giorno’s sides. Most crucially how emotive and expressive he is, and how funny the 15-year old revolutionary gangster can be.

I’m certainly not saying every criticism levied at Vento Aureo was unfounded, I still need to sit down and reread/rewatch it entirely, but consistently I always thought Giorno ruled. He’s got one of my absolute favorite powersets in the series and one that Araki really, really squeezes versatility out of (to the point I’d still argue Requiem really wasn’t that necessary to defeat Diavolo), I like that he’s built to thrive just as much when he takes a backseat to the action and acts as the planner / support for other characters to rally around and find their own strength, I love all of his dynamics within Bruno’s Gang. I love that he’s scary, actually fucking scary, even besides the whole cosmic horror GER brings to the table, even besides the fact that his normal powerset involves pulling snakes and scorpions and insects out of thin air to hurt and kill people.

He’s the most cutthroat JoJo by leaps and bounds, one who actively grew up wanting to be not just a criminal kingpin, but THE criminal kingpin of his country, one who would employ said resources for the betterment of society. One of the very first battles he’s in, he defeats a villain by going behind his associate’s back and tricking said villain into eating a gun and blasting his brains out. He lies, he bribes, he maims. He has a beetle eat the brain of a serial killer right after turning back on his promise of leaving said killer alive, he even suggests killing civilians if they get in the way of the mission. His selflessness is just as terrifying too, he unhesitatingly chops off his limbs and dives neckfirst into razor blades to assist his partners and eventual friends. He risks death over the prospect of leaving anyone behind, he’s driven to extremes caused by his rage and disgust over innocents and children being victimized by the drug trade, his plans are mind-boggling and brutal and powerful, matched only by his capacity for rallying morale and inspiring others. He’s DIO’s son with Joestar spirit, someone who takes after both, a Noble Champion of the Sun as much as he’s Evil Charisma. The next step in DIO’s evolution.

Giorno kinda feels to me like Araki going back to not just DIO the bedazzling immortal megavillain who rules the world, not even just Dio Brando the enfant terrible turned scourge of humanity, but Mashonen B.T, Araki’s early manga love letter to Sherlock Holmes about a charismatic genius bad boy who uses trickery and underhanded tactics to outfox and defeat opponents, mostly known nowadays for being Dio’s direct prototype in almost every way right down to the design, poses, clothing, etc, a short-lived character who was too controversial a protagonist for Shonen Jump at the time. Araki’s gone back to Dio a lot over every part exploring the facets of his existence and Giorno is one of them, one that allowed him to go all the way back to the initial bad boy protagonist he had and redo him accordingly. A Dio who wasn’t born Evil Incarnate, who didn’t grow up to become this century-wide bloodline cancer and embodiment of fate and gravity center of all that is evil and bizarre, who got to once again apply his talents and smarts against those worse than himself. 

And this is kind of related to why I think Giorno loses a lot of what makes him important and thematically interesting when he’s made out to be the son of Jonathan as well, even though it’s an idea I do like. Because Giorno’s whole deal is that he’s the son of the Ultimate Evil who grows up into something much better. Part 5′s big theme is people dealt with bad circumstances breaking free, breaking free from the chains of fate and the burdens imposed on them, with Giorno as the one who did it first and then went on to help Buccellati and others do the same. 

Jotaro Kujo, the protagonist of the third series Stardust Crusaders, leavesfor his journey already accepting the bond that links him to his grandfather and his grandfather’s great-grandfather (Jonathan’s father) – there are six generations between them. In this case we can affirm that Dio Brando, the enemy, represents Destiny and Fate.

While i was writing the fifth series, Vento Aureo, i asked myself how the simple fact to be born could have been something to be sad of for someone. Men can’t decide to be born or not. Just like some might be born in happy families, others grow up in awful environments.

So, what should these people do, if Destiny and Fate are something that someone else, like a God or some Great Law who rules the universe and the stars, had already decided for them? 

This is the main theme that revolves around Vento Aureo and the same theme that the protagonists and their enemies must deal with.

Giorno, Buccellati, Fugo, Narancia, Abbacchio and Mista. Each one of them grew up or if we want to be more accurate, was forced to grow up, against their will, at the margin of society. I think its the same for Trish, the daughter of the Boss. 

Will they (Giorno & Co.) be able to fight Destiny and Fate and to change them? While i was working on this series i kept thinking about it. - Vento Aureo post-scriptum

Giorno is DIO’s ultimate legacy, like Pucci, tuned in a completely opposite direction. He grows up to become like DIO, but better. He is a brilliant, skilled genius, who applies his intelligence towards helping others and working for the betterment of society in a way neither Dio nor the Joestars ever really did. He is someone who is able to convince others to lay down their lives for him without a moment’s hesitation, because he makes friends and partners and unhesitatingly lays down his life for their sake in return. He is charming, attractive and charismatic, traits that make him a great leader and one who allows others around him to thrive and find their own strength. He heals himself and others efficiently without using vampirism. He creates life instead of consuming it, he fights with nature instead of perverting it. He stands proud in the sunlight instead of cowering from it. He is terrifyingly determined, and applies said horrific determination for far greater purposes than just stripping flesh from the weak and flexing over cadavers. 

He caps this off by attaining the actual strongest Stand in existence, with no equal to oppose him, and by taking command over the world’s largest criminal empire. He is DIO, but better, and not just morally. Him being the son of DIO who goes on to inherit many of his father’s traits, and apply them for the sake of good, is a powerful statement of intent right out the gate and sets the tone for all the big ideas Vento Aureo’s playing with. His moral greyness, the ways in which he shows us how good he is at lying and cheating and killing, and his abject refusal to endanger innocents and children and cross certain lines, are instrumental to what makes the character work. 

Which is something you don’t really get to that effect, if he’s the son of Jonathan. If he’s directly a Joestar, you don’t really get the idea that he was someone born to a terrible fate who was able to turn this fate around for the better, instead it becomes more like he was a JoJo tainted by DIO’s intrusion into the bloodline, and that his DIO-isms serve to make him lesser rather than be instrumental to what makes him better than his father. It makes his existence tied up in DIO’s transgressions against the Joestars, rather than DIO as an entity and bottomless wellspring of evil in his own right, and it places Giorno in a kind of unwanted place almost as a bastard of two families at once. 

I do understand where it comes from in that, it’s sorta like that trope you see in fantasy for young adults or children sometimes where a character raised by neglectful or abusive parents eventually discovers their “true” heritage, like some great hero dad that couldn’t be around for them or a saintly mother who died before they were born, and this becomes sort of a catalyst for their own rise into heroism. I think it’s kind of like that, when people think of Giorno as Jonathan’s son or someone whose real father is Jonathan. 

That desire for Giorno to have something like a proper family, to have someone he takes his heroism from (rather than just a vague Joestar spirit), to make it so that he doesn’t have to be the son of a wretched disease of a man (and the implication that being so makes him lesser). I truly do understand parts of where this fantasy comes from, the idea that Giorno should be able to disown DIO and have a real father who’s not, well, DIO, but I truly do like that Araki avoided this route and that he never had it be ambiguous that Giorno is DIO’s son, Joestar spirit or not. 

Giorno’s story is that he was born into awful circumstances, mistreated and abused and neglected by everyone around him, and undergoing ensuing death of personality as early as the age of 2 that put him well on his way to either being dead, or being rotten to the core like his father, before a random stroke of fate gave him the chance to rise above and let his soul shine as he’d found a dream to believe in. He’d go on to provide this kind of assistance towards others around him, including a girl who herself was born from a vastly powerful ultimate villain. Giorno would go on to defeat and dethrone said ultimate villain and usurp his reign, and in the process, achieve exactly what DIO spent the past century and a half striving for. He’d surpass his fate, surpass his bloodline, and become number one, and he ends his story seated on a throne, waiting patiently as the world lines up to bend the knee before him

While I don’t think of Giorno as Jonathan’s son (not that he doesn’t have Joestar in him), I do think he goes a long way towards proving something that Araki established all the way back in Phantom Blood and would continue to play around with in the other parts, and Vento Aureo especially with the ways Diavolo contrasts Giorno: That evil, true evil, is not just selfish, petty and self-destructive, but also pointless. Useless Useless Useless, as it were, because Dio could have achieved everything he’d wanted, all of his dreams big and small, had he worked with the Joestars instead of against them. That part of the tragedy of what went down between Jonathan and Dio is that, together, they really did make for an excellent team, that they could have achieved anything and overcome whatever came their way. 

In Phantom Blood, it was ultimately a tragedy that these extraordinary halves representing mankind were set against each other, that fate set these two on collision course forevermore. But with Vento Aureo, we get to see what happens when said halves work in tandem to achieve the extraordinary, and break the chains of fate that define them. You get Giorno, who breaks the chains of those around him, breaks the paradigm by which the series had been adhering to, and  breaks the curse to forge his own future.

speaking of her and spencer, they 100% share hyperfixations. like, emily will come into work with a very specific hyperfixation and she will try to hide it but then will mention it and then spencer starts freaking out because it's also one of his hyperfixations and then they spend an extended amount of time talking about it

emily has a very flirtatious personality but she does not like relationships and if she ever ends up getting in a relationship, it's still her personality and her partner will learn to adapt to it because it's who she is

emily and spencer do each others paperwork and read over files for each other when they see that the other is too stressed to do it anymore

she is a very blunt person overall and the team has adapted to her seemingly random comments and input but she constantly gets herself in trouble when they are on a case because she talks back to every single officer about practically anything

emily is notoriously bad with children because she was never really around them throughout any part of her life but when JJ got pregnant she was determined to be the best aunt possible and bought over 20 how-to books on parenting

emily is an adrenaline junkie. she will chase any adrenaline rush that life could possibly present and sometimes creates her own

she is definitely the type to randomly yell "THE FLOOR IS LAVA" during a paperwork day to spice things up

she also takes the floor is lava very seriously and will criticize you severely for not participating and will refuse to talk to you for the rest of the day to "teach you a lesson"

she always steals at least 2 bottles of wine from Rossi's storage before she leaves his mansion and he never forgets to remind her to wait to start on them until she gets home

she is a severe pen clicker which is why everyone was very excited when they got tablets for briefings because she would incessantly click her pen

she made derek learn morse code with her so that they could cuss each other out without getting lectured by hotch

she doesn't know how to work the coffee machine but she won't accept help so she constantly breaks it and blames it on derek every single time

she is very protective of spencer and is the first to defend him when derek's teasing goes a little bit too far

she insists that spencer help her learn at least one language every six months so that she can communicate with a wider span of victims and criminals

she constantly checks up on victims she saved to make sure they are ok after whatever they went through

she is a huge advocate for anything and everything you can advocate for

she loves to write. she writes little short stories pretty often and always has rossi proofread them

she has a stuffed turtle named tucker that she brings with her on every case and she just holds him whenever she needs a minute and she feels calmer. penelope got him for her for her birthday and they have been inseparable ever since

she refuses to use scrunchies to tie up her hair because it makes her feel, in her words, "too girly, pinky, sparkly, and princessy"

she refuses to drink water unless it is her own personal filter water from the water filter she bought for $80 because "it tastes earthy"

she always has little questions about how certain things work or what a certain word means or something else along those lines that she randomly asks spencer throughout the day

she is one of the few people who listens to spencer's explanations and stories and she likes to show him she's listening by looking at him and tugging her ear so he feels heard

if he doesn't get to finish a specific story or explanation, she writes down what it was about and asks him about it later

she often references things spencer has told her in order to show him that someone is listening and someone cares

she also is usually interested in the random facts and knowledge so she welcomes it with open arms

she explains as many things relating to politics and current events to spencer that she can remember so that he feels informed and, in turn, he gives her more random facts and bits of knowledge

she absolutely loves monopoly and no one has ever beaten her at the game. not even spencer.

she loves hockey and none of the other team members really watch it but, as soon as spencer discovered her love for it, he read up on it and then watched a good amount of games to catch up and became her hockey watching buddy

after she became unit chief, she began to stay later at the office and she hated being alone in there and spencer caught on pretty quickly and made it a habit to do all of his paperwork in her office and he took a bunch of files from the other team members to keep him busy until she finished

penelope bought her a crystal for her birthday one year and ever since then she has began to grow a collection

every year during halloween, she insists that the team should do group costumes and go trick or treating with the kids but is shot down every time

she always has a can of silly string with her and she will pull it out at random times and spray it all over whoever she feels like spraying it on

she did it to hotch once and she immediately regretted it as soon as he banned silly string

she loves pottery. she learned the basics of it when she was travelling around the world and then began to pick it up as a hobby and she makes random pots and cups and mugs and other things for birthdays and christmases and everything in between

she loves swimming and she is a really good swimmer

Things that happened or effected JJ that I feel like we don’t talk about enough

Not to once again rant on the internet about fictional characters that I hyperfixated on but I have a tension headache again (perks of being a grad student) and I for once am not swamped with work so we’re gonna rant. Today because I am still hyperfixating on Criminal Minds we will once again be talking about JJ because I love her (this mostly stems from Criminal Minds Tiktok hating JJ for no reason). 

1.) We talk about how JJ’s sister committed suicide but I feel like it gets overlooked that JJ is the one who found the body. I don’t think I need to tell anyone how traumatizing that is for an 11 year old, and how deeply that effected her for the rest of her life and how she deals with trauma. 

2.) To keep on childhood JJ, JJ’s mom is has been said to be emotionally or straight up absentee parent meaning that JJ was on her on most of the time. And that her mom also holds some resentment towards her for leaving (this is brought up in later seasons like 14 or 15). 

3.) JJ’s family wasn’t wealthy, JJ says multiple times throughout the show that the only way she was going to get out her town was going to be via a soccer scholarship. While they most likely weren’t living in poverty think about the added stress of having to worry about money (and potentially having to be the one to worry about money depending on how absent her mother was, I also feel like with these three bullets that I can say comfortably that JJ was not a mean girl/bully). 

4.) In season 2 when Reid gets abuducted we talk a lot about how that effected him (as we should), but I feel like we really over look what happened to JJ. Not only does she blame herself for what happens to Reid and at least Morgan seems to partially blame her. Plus she was some attacked or something happened with the dogs that she starts hallucinating them and has some kind of PTSD. 

5.) Likes to talk to the victims families because she knows what its like to be in that position. Over the course of the show everyone says  how much they hate talking to the victims families but JJ says more then once that she likes that part of her job. JJ probably has the most emotionally demanding job out of all of them because it is much easier to compartmentalize things when you are only dealing with law enforcement and dead bodies, JJ can’t turn off her emotions because she needs them when talking to the press or consoling families. 

6.) When the team members learn that Emily is alive several of them hold hiding it from them against her. Here is a woman who got unwillingly sent to the Middle East to be on a joint task force interrogating criminals, having a miscarriage, had a humvee explode, having some kind of PTSD and she can’t talk about to anyone but hey at least she has her job back and then bam her best friend comes back she assumes everyone will be happy but then several of them blame her. They don’t blame Hotch (Morgan does for like a hot minute but that was short lived) and they don’t blame Emily, they just blame JJ who couldn’t tell them because it was a security risk. Like how shitty that must have made her feel. 

7.) She watched her husband almost die and her son get kidnapped all in one day. #trauma 

8.) She got tortured, like I know she had a whole ass episode dedicated to it but I really don’t see that talked about (now had it been Reid we’d get a post 50 times a day about it, I’ll show myself out). Like she was tortured because she had national security codes and probably also has PTSD from that but once again I feel like we never talk about it. 

9.) In the few instances where JJ snaps at Reid he’s usually the one that pushes her to that point. There are a couple of times throughout the show where Reid gets mad at her or says something kind of mean towards her and as a result JJ snaps, I feel like a lot of people are like “why would JJ say that to him, that’s so mean”. Even though she was having a perfectly normal conversation with him before he starts going at her. We see this with the mean girl conversation (she snaps after he takes one look at her appearance and uses that to justify that she was a mean girl, despite knowing her for years and all the shit she went through as a kind), we also see her snap after Reid’s been being unnecessarily cold towards her for what was most likely a while for a situation that she was not in control of (you can’t blame a person for something out of their control, who also experienced trauma from that event, and just expect them to not retaliate, was it great no, but she’s human and can only take so much). Also Reid lowkey said he would blame her if he started using again which I feel is very fucked up and we don’t talk about it, we know that JJ blames herself for shit that happens (her sister’s death, Reid getting abducted, etc) like that would fuck her up. Also its such a shit thing on Reid’s thing to say because he would be the only one responsible and it’s not like she was being mean to him in the year Emily died, she was actively consoling him, regularly. 

Anyway sorry this got ranty but I’ve got a lot of feelings, also if your a Reid stan please don’t hate me because I shit talked Reid a little bit I do love him, but I feel like because he’s mentally ill and has trauma we just kind of let him get away with some shit because he is the OG Timothy Chalemet type character that everyone simps over.

Counterfeit Paradigm Shattered Glass #1

The first in a series of posts where I talk about characters from my Counterfeit Paradigm AU, but put the good 'ole Shattered Glass idea into it too!

I'll first be talking about Karma, since he seems to be the most relevant at the moment, but if there's any characters of mine that you'd want Shattered Glass descriptions of then feel free to leave a request in my box!

Karma grew up in a similar environment to his normal counterpart, only he clung to a more violent and twisted logic compared to his normal self as he aged. His "parents" also treated him much better in this version of the story, but his underlying hatred for the world soiled his mind and worldview.

When he was old enough, he was set to take over leadership of the colony world he was on as his caretakers stepped down. Instead, he hid out and assaulted one of them, considering them a faker, someone who should never have led in the first place, and left before the colony's police could capture him. That caretaker died a few cycles later due to complications from the attack.

While on the run, he found an abandoned Starship that he could use to get off-planet. It was very old, and never quite worked right, but it suited his needs and allowed him to escape with minimal effort. Unbeknownst to him, there was a Sparkeater aboard that ship, lying dormant to conserve the little energy it had left.

The battle against the Sparkeater came quickly, and while Karma was a decent fighter, he was never quite prepared for the unbridled desperation and ferocity left within its withering body and he took a nasty blow to his faceplates before he was able to finish it off.

He needed a medic, he knew that much. Karma was an excellent fighter but had very little knowledge in the field of medicine. This is around the time when he meets Krutch, a medic with the reputation of being fantastic, but cynical and hard to listen to without starting fights.

Once he gets repaired, he sets off on his own once again and eventually, after a long time, amasses a reputation as a dangerous criminal known for his assassination and torture methods like no other. He's not so much on a side as he is a mercenary for hire with the right price. Even if that means joining the "goody two shoes" Decepticons for a paycheck.

Karma also loves body modification, almost to the point of obsession. It got to that point after his facial scar made him look into body mods for the first time. He's not vain, but he loves the feeling of getting a new mod to hyperfixate on and show off. It gives him a feeling of power. Sometimes, a feeling of dominance.

And yes, he still makes Karma puns both unironically and unapologetically.

Giving vs. Recieving

A/N: Im so sorry this took so long to complete. I just started a new job so things may take longer, but ill still be writing. The next fic will most likely be poly with you and the boys getting together. 

David

Giving: Gifts

David enjoys giving gifts that remind you of who you belong to. He's not good with emotions so giving momentos, to David, is a good way of showing his love.

David gives gifts to show you that even if he isn't around, he's thinking about you. He also uses gifts as an excuse to take care of you. He views himself as your protector and wants you to know that he can and will provide for you. 

If he sees you looking at something for just a little too long, he will totally pay for it, legally, with money. He definitely won’t steal it if that's what you're thinking. But whether it's gained via dubious means or not, it's yours. David is basically a criminally inclined sugar daddy. 

If you make an off comment about being hungry? You're getting food. You tell him he doesn't have to get something for you? That's too bad, it's not even a question to David, you're getting taken care of. 

David just wants to provide and protect, just let the boy take care of you the only way he knows how.

Receiving: Physical affection

David is very touch starved under all that angst, pride, and daddy issues. Although he wont admit it, he needs to be given affection, badly. 

Before he met you it never bothered him, he had the boys and he didn't need more than that. But when you came into his life, and you held his face in your hands? He realized how much he missed being held by another.

He's never thought highly of humanity, but your warmth pressed against him and feeling the steady rise and fall of your chest under his hand hits him in his cold, undead heart.

In public, PDA is kept at a minimum with David so he can keep up his rough and tough persona. He acts annoyed when you get clingy, but it's painfully obvious that he actually adores it. If you want to force him to hold your hand he'll complain about it, but he wouldn't dare move away from you.

In private however, all bets are off. Chairs aren't allowed, you're either on his lap or laying on top of him. Worry about his legs falling asleep? Don’t, he's already dead, they physically can't fall asleep. You aren't going anywhere sweetheart. If you're standing? He's wrapping his arms around your stomach.

If for some reason he moves his hands away while cuddling and you bring his hands back, He swears he can almost feels his heart start beating again. He finds you adorable when you're like this. It makes David smile when he sees your look of mock offense when he takes his arms away from you.

Cuddle this man. He may try to act all tough and intimidating, but he just wants to be held.

Dwayne

Giving: Acts of Service

Dwayne likes making your life easier, he's not a big talker but he knows that actions often speak louder than words.

He's a vampire, so the biggest stress factor the boys have is being found out and staked, but other than that he and the boys live a carefree life. He knows being a human is often very difficult. Picking up on your stressors and helping make your life easier is how he shows affection best. 

Often if you're really busy, Dwayne will pick up food for you and make you take a break before helping you finish what you were doing. If you feel unwell in the slightest he’ll be there in a second to take care of you. Dwayne is also very tall, and will always get things down from above without even needing to be asked, it's basically a reflex at this point. 

 It's not uncommon for Dwayne to finish those last edits of an essay you were writing. He'd do more than that but he knows you'd be upset with him if he did. If you worry about taking advantage of him, Dwayne assures you that isn't the case. Taking that weight off of your shoulders makes him feel not only wanted, but needed.

Dwayne needs to know he's taking care of you, he's never been one to show love through words but you never go a day without feeling it.

Receiving: Quality Time

Ever since you and Dwayne became a couple, you've been the first thought in his head every morning, wanting to get feedings done sooner so he could spend time with you.

Dwayne has a lot of free time on his hands and during the time he spends with you, every possible ounce of attention you could give him was given. He adored those long conversations where you went on and on about whatever your current hyperfixation was. Even if you felt as if you annoyed him by simply rambling about a topic, he found those moments intimate and special.

Museum and Bookstore dates were very common between the two of you. Debates and deep conversations were a favorite of his, you both respected each other and your opinions. 

For museums, he would watch you stare at the exhibits in wonder while he told you of what history he remembered in certain pieces. Though he wasn't too old by vampiric standards, you would ask him all sorts of questions about the eras he's lived in. He's very quiet, but it's on these dates where you can get him going.

Bookstore dates are quieter, there was one a little ways away from the hotel that stayed open later into the night. Once a week, you and Dwayne would try to get there as soon as possible and stay there until they kicked you out. You would buy (definitely not steal) books and walk back to the beach or, if it was particularly cold, back to the cave. You two would then read them and discuss the book until the next bookstore date.

Paul

Giving: Physical Touch 

Paul loves giving affection, he takes offense to any moment spent without his S/O in his arms. He knows his reputation, and keeping you close shows that you're not to be fucked with. Many girls may try to get his attention, but they will never be the ones on Paul's hip and you take that as a badge of pride.

Paul enjoys the summer, his cool body is perfect for giving a lot of cuddles during that time. The colder months are heavily disliked by both you and him because of you body needing to stay warm, but Paul gives the best hugs, to the point where you begin to crave his touch.

Paul's worst fear is you feeling ignored or unloved; if you two have been physically distant he will immediately rectify it as soon as he can. This boy will never let his S/O go un-snuggled. Every time you're upset you are swept into Paul’s lap with your head tucked under his chin.

When you're at the boardwalk, your hand is always in his or his arm is around your shoulders. If you two are sitting down then you'll be in his lap. The boys may tease him about it but he doesn't mind, he's proud to show you off. 

Paul is a himbo at the end of the day, he's not good with words and has said the wrong thing before, but through his actions you are shown how truly loved and valued you are to him.

Receiving: Words of Affirmation

Paul is a very literal person, he enjoys when you tell him what's on your mind, and he adores listening to you talk. Listening to you talk is the highlight of his night.

Even though Paul shows love through physicality, he needs to be told the words I love you. The first time you told him those three simple words he became pretty emotional. He couldn't remember the last time someone genuinely told him he was loved, and here you were confirming your mutual affections for each other. He's so soft for you man. 

You always tell him how much he is admired and adored as you hold his face in your hands, and Paul melts every single time. He finds a lot more pride in his clothing and hair after you rave about how amazing he looks.

He values what you say above everyone else's opinion, and if you like the new thing he did with his eyeliner you notice he does it significantly more. Paul is the definition of jokester, but when you tell him what he said made you laugh he takes it to heart. 

Paul loves being a vampire, but sometimes he needs you to say you aren't afraid of him. That despite what he is, you still feel safe around him. Even the toughest of people feel insecure sometimes and you're willing to do whatever he needs to feel okay again.

Marko

Giving: Physical affection

There's a reason him and Paul are best friends, sometimes a bro needs a hug. And though his motto was always ‘bros before hoes’ something was missing. There was a level of affection he longed to give, but never could. 

When he met you and he was finally able to give those romantic affections, he went overboard. Always holding you and touching you in some way, you weren't let out of his grasp for weeks. Any time you needed to leave the cave to go home, Marko would whine and beg you to stay with him for a little while longer. Any time he could convince you to stay the night, he would be ecstatic. 

Marko is very happy to know that someone loves him for him, and he is determined to show that in every single moment of your relationship. If you had a distant boyfriend before? Destroy those expectations, because you got the clingiest vampire in the lost boys. 

He loves to scent mark on you, a giant vampire thing, it's like a drug to this angel faced sweetheart. Having his scent melding with yours as you two roam the boardwalk drives the boy insane. Marko is very possessive, and he can't help but nuzzle into your neck or wrap his arms around your torso so that everyone knows you're taken. 

Much like his best friend, Marko is also a himbo. He needs you close to him and if you aren't he becomes whiny. The next time you see him, you won't be leaving his grasp any time soon.

Receiving: Gift giving

Marko is an artistic being and he appreciates gifts that have effort put into them. Things that are bought are nice, but if you spent hours making something? He doesn't care what it is, he will love it.

If you made him a bracelet, he'd wear it every day. If you paint, you'd notice pieces of art taped onto the wall, growing with every piece you make him. If you bake? What you make him is gone in a day. His favorite gifts however are the patches you make him, sewing them on and admiring the intricate detail put into each one. 

Everything you make him or give him is valued, keeping anything and everything tangible in a wooden box that Marko painted himself. He protects that box with his life, keeping it in the most protected place in the cave.

If you write him letters he stores them in the box and he reads them by the fire pits when he can't sleep, which helps him get some shuteye. He treasures every little thing you give him, but to Marko, you are the true gift. Each of those momentos being a simple reminder of the wonderful being who made them.
