goddd this line makes me ill. the slip-up of "you" instead of "they" making it obvious he's thinking of himself. currently dissolving

sometimes i think about what his motivations may have been. did he believe he wasn't good enough for his father to stay and so tried desperately to be the perfect child? did a part of him hope he would come back if he was Good Enough? was he trying to be good so his mother, already struggling, wouldnt have to deal with his problems as well? was he trying to keep up a facade of normalcy so cps wouldnt be called? probably some mixture of all that. im glad it's not dwelled upon in this moment because i really like blink-and-you-miss-it lines that reveal something about a character but. hhh. do you think the team noticed.

I was just replying to someone about Elena's scene with Stefan in 3x18. I consider it a two-for truth. Elena fell in love with Damon and unfell for Stefan. It's her response that gets me.

Stefan: No, no, just admit it. Admit it to me, Elena. I know you don't owe it to me, but I just need to hear you say it. Elena: I…I can't because it's not true, Stefan. I never stopped loving you.

She comes off like a criminal assuming which of their crimes they're under arrest for while under interrogation. It would be like Damon in 3x2, pushing Elena to tell him what changed her mind, only to have her answer with her feelings about Stefan rather than him. There's only one reason for Elena to assume Stefan was asking for such an admission, for her to actually believe Stefan was asking she admit she stopped loving him. Because she unfell for him and got defensive when he pushed her to admit it. Mind the difference between loving someone and being in love with them.

Elena fell in love with Damon (Truth told by Stefan)

Stefan: I'm talking about the fact that you're also in love with Damon.

Elena unfell for Stefan (Truth told by Elena)

Elena: I…I can't, because it's not true, Stefan. I never stopped loving you.

Church scenes are an underused and underrated plot device:

I high-key love church scenes where the characters sit down in a church and have a serious discussion without trying to kill each other.

Or even scenes where the characters are by themselves in a church and have an emotional bloodletting.

There’s just something about how the tone or the ambience changes with the setting once they’re inside the church, whether they’re actual believers or not. Something about the plot or the characters is always revealed during church scenes.

Finally watched 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lone Star, here are my thoughts

Evan “Buck” Buckley

Edmundo “Eddie” Diaz

I don’t like it when Buck or Christopher are in danger (yes I’m referring to 3x2 and 3x3 specifically. Shredded my heart). I don’t like when any of them are in danger but especially not these two.

How dare Hen cheat on Karen with her. This Karen is a QUEEN (no offense to people named Karen who aren’t Karens) Do better Henrietta.

Poor Bobby. But I’m glad he found happiness again.

I really hope Buck finds someone he deserves and we actually get to see it play out, not a couple episodes in the last season of the show (I’m looking at you criminal minds)

What if one of Bucks exes came back and was like “surprise I got pregnant” and Buck has a Kevin Pearson “my kid is the love of my life” moment. I’d like to see him as a dad but I still won’t be satisfied that he has no love life.

Speaking of criminal minds, BUCK BETTER NOT BECOME A SPENCER REID I mean this in the sense that the writers literally tortured Reid until the very end. LET CHARACTERS BE HAPPY ITS OKAY

Chim is great. I know that sounds hella flat but I don’t know how else to describe him.

I don’t know if I’m on the Buddie train in a romantic sense. Platonic life partners? Platonic soulmates? Absolutely. But romantically? Not sure I see it.

David seems nice, I hope we get to see more of him and Michael.

I REALLY like the episodes that show the characters backstories. I know we kinda saw Maddie’s story through Buck’s episode but I wonder if we’ll get one about how she and Doug happened. On one hand I want it but on the other I don’t want them to drag the Doug story out again, I like that they’re focusing on the effects after everything blew up rather than on the abuse itself.

I liked Ali more than I like Taylor. I hope the writers don’t make her Bucks love interest for a long time.

Albert is a fun time.

TK Strand and Carlos Reyes are insanely adorable. They are my OTP, they deserve all the happiness, they better not ever do something stupid like break up.

Poor Owen. That’s gotta be rough, finding out the woman you loved saw you as the rebound for the relationship she was in after she divorced you.

Owen I feel for you but let’s stop doing crazy things okay.

Grace and Judd. How cute. Can’t wait for baby Jace (Grudd? What’s their ship name?)

Marjann is a BOSS

Paul deserves love. He’s there for everybody else, let him have a good love story even if the writers have to be assholes and make it not last. Better to have loved and lost than not at all or whatever.

Mateo is a delight

I lowkey wanna see Marjann and Eddie date. Like they start off just talking on insta then it becomes a long distance thing. I realize in the end they’d have to break up cause neither of them want to move (not to mention neither show wants to lose their characters) but I think it’d be interesting to see.

god the "reid goes to check on gideon at his cabin" scene still makes me feel so nauseous even though i know he doesn't actually find gideon's body like the viewer is made to expect.* but like. watch this clip. it really looks like he's just found his body until it cuts to show what he's really looking at. even now it makes me nervous

anyway. call me fucked up but i wish there were more fics that looked at what would have happened if that really was the situation. i like to put my blorbos in blenders and turn them on, okay? sorry. sorry. my demons

*i think this fakeout is missed by some people simply because gideon leaving the team is spoiled a lot—which is fair, because the episode where it happens aired sixteen years ago. but the clip above, the letter reading like a suicide note, the last episode ending with gideon holding his gun...they really want you to think he's killed himself. and reid is probably worried about that the whole drive, too.

her entire """arc""" is her being the "antagonist" in hotch's story so its told from his perspective and we're explicitly supposed to side with him (at this point in the show idr if it changes but im on 3x2) so we dont see her struggling as pretty much a single mother with like an infant-to-toddler baby not having the support and really technically affection of her husband

BUT

the scene where her lover calls the house while she and aaron are talking abt how hes going to transfer and then calls her phone when aaron answers and they look each other in the FACE while her phone is ringing and shes like "it should be a no brainer to transfer to a 9 to 5 job if u love me your wife" LIKE HE KNEW .2 SECONDS IN TO THAT EVENT THAT U WERE CHEATING ON HIM IN WHAT WORLD
