Her "abridged" list of exes has 12 people on it. she wears sunhats. she DID kill a guy but it wasn't even relevant to the plot. she casually confessed to first-degree murder across the table from a private detective. no one ever brought it up again. she made out with said detective in front of their respective dates. her job title is Professional Muse. one of her exes wrote an entire poetry book about her being sexy and murderous. she sees a struggling artist, goes "is anybody going to fix that" and DOES NOT wait for an answer. she completely reinvents her personality for every new date, makes them win a bunch of awards in a fit of productivity, and then immediately dips. she has complicated opinions about oysters. she's even bisexual

483 | No warnings Fandom: Crimes of Passion Characters: Lydea Thorne, Astrid Thorne Premise: "At least they have that in common. There’s nothing they love more than things they could take apart, destroy, make a mess out of." or.. an Astrid and Lydea-centered short about them being sisters. (Title is from Ribs by Lorde)

The atmosphere is wordless. The air is thick - not even whispers can get past it. Lydea combs Astrid’s hair in the silence.

“I look horrible.”

Lydea doesn’t respond. She starts working at her sister’s hair into a simple braid. Astrid chants it again, expecting a rise out of her. But perhaps things have changed. New house, a new patron they’re supposed to draw their bloods to. Winter is here and it is harsh and Astrid can’t stomach more pale broth for her skin. Somehow Lydea’s imperfect braid is perhaps, all that she needs. It doesn’t frame her face well, doesn’t hide her skin, it is all very dull and listless. Astrid doesn’t fault Lydea for her failures. Her heart can no longer hold in that hate.

Someone’s phone buzzes and it is not Astrid’s. It keeps buzzing constantly before her older sister shuts it off for good. Outside, there is commotion. The garden is being rid of snow, there is too much noise in the air and in between, they hear shouts from impatient staff. Inside, it is warm. Astrid keeps herself occupied, watching as the snow is melted out, giving the earth some life again. It feels like summer. She could eat to her heart’s content, slip in garden snakes into Lydea’s clothing and wait for her reaction. Lydea only showed so much as a scowl, but she’d chase them down the corridors. Now even a scowl is considered something big from her.

“I’ve got a new boyfriend. Don’t kill him.”

Nothing. Nothing? Seriously? Astrid sighs. She’s desperate, she’s bored and she stops toying with her hair tie and watches the birds on the windowsill. It is somewhat upsetting. She hates how much they chirp and chirp and annoy their mothers. “He’s actually nice-” she adds, wistfully, “His record is clean and he’s not - weird or a threat or — he is fun, but he’s so — cheery- but fun.”

Lydea finishes braiding her hair and lets her take a look at the mirror. From the corner of Astrid’s eye, she spots her sister smiling weakly. Her hands are not made for this stuff, but she tries. The braid is weak, it doesn’t hold up at all but there is this strange fullness in Astrid’s heart she thinks is her anxiety. It melts into her like hot butter on a pan. She feels the braids. It is nothing luxurious, it is so plain it might just loosen right up if Astrid were to tug on it more. At least they have that in common. There’s nothing they love more than things they could take apart, destroy, make a mess out of.

“I hate it.”

“Do you want to have dinner together?”

Astrid considers. “I may have some spare time.”

A few questions:

1- Why the fuck was Astrid in Trystan's room?

2- In fact, why was Astrid even in the palace, considering Vasili said she was going to be at the opera?

3- "Sebastyan was in the palace gardens at 7pm" girl what were you doing at the devil's sacrament

4- Why was Astrid sitting on that information, and why is she so eager to point us in the direction of Sebastyan? (This is the second time she directly draws our attention to him)

I keep going back to Juliana calling her ex possessive and creepy and MC saying that whoever she dated was dramatic and intense or something to that effect... Both of these descriptions fit Astrid, honestly, better than Sebastyan. And I can see her killing someone for petty revenge easier than I can see Bas doing the same

This is also at least the second time we're discussing sensitive information and Astrid just so happens to be there (first time was when we were talking to Olivia). Also, her "ohh I'm so silly and airheaded" act is a little too thick (I'm sure this has been said before) and maybe this is reaching but I find it odd that they keep reminding us that she's bisexual that often. Most bisexual LIs in choices didn't get more than an offhanded mention of their bisexuality, yet this secondary character reminds us that she's into women every 5 minutes. Why would they do this if it weren't plot relevant?

Also, the fact that Bas said "you've been breaking my heart every day of my life" implies there wasn't a time when they were together. So that's actually a point against him being the ex

All in all... I think it'd make sense for Astrid to be the ex. The only hiccup to that theory imo is that the first scene makes it pretty clear that the murderer was the ex, and I have a hard time seeing Astrid getting her hands dirty. She'd probably outsource that kind of thing. But it's also not impossible considering she's kind of. Well, spiteful

The motive to kill Nadja is still more flimsy... But as the third in line she has reason not to want the Act to pass, and Nadja's murder could have gotten rid of that, Trystan, and Lydea if they had bought that Lydea was the murderer and trying to frame Trystan. Astrid had no way of knowing Lydea would have an alibi since her alibi was precisely that she would be tailing Astrid. I also didn't forget that Astrid just so happens to have "lost" her royal dagger... While skiing, an activity where it's a known good idea to have a dagger on your person

All in all... I'm not sure if that's the direction they're going but I think Astrid is a strong candidate for Juliana's ex at least
