don't think i've posted this here already...
anyway! i've always been pessimistic about my art growth (like, i'm not improving as much as i think i should...) so it's nice to compare and contrast every now and visibly see the improvement. It's not much, but it's there! Keep at it girl!!!
I'm still not good at it but am more comfortable in drawing humans now. And also that i want to move away from anime-esque style to something that's grounded yet stylized, like a cozy picture book.
Also this made me notice that my favorite color is orange... always have been... always will be......

I gotta be so real right now, writing in this fandom sucks so much sometimes. this is so little interaction to be had and those that are here are usually just looking for an argument.
I love creating and writing but I feel like I push myself to write for a dying thing I once had. Fandom 10 years ago was SO different compared to now. No one interacts. People only comment when they want an update. It’s exhausting.
Don’t mean to rant, it’s just frustrating when you put a lot into something only to feel lonely about it. I love writing fanfic but I feel like you get to a point where you wonder why you’re doing it if there’s no one to share it with, if that makes sense.

Hey all!
Just letting you know that I have made some changes to the playlist RAFFLES TV series 1975-77 (Complete) on my YouTube channel. @firestorm717 was kind enough to give me permission to upload her lovely rips (which are the ones I use for all my edits and which you can still download), so those are the ones that you can now see in that playlist, with thumbnails edited by myself. Chippas uploads I have moved to a new playlist called RAFFLES TV series 1975-77 WITH SUBTITLES (Complete).
Tumblr media
Otherwise, the main differences between the two playlists are:
Old playlist (firestorm's rips from US DVD release):
Includes the act cards in between acts.
Includes the scenes at the ball in "Mr Justice Raffles".
Slightly better transfer.
New playlist (Chippa's rips from UK DVD release):
Option for (accurate) closed captions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy watching! 💎
P.S: You can watch some of my edited clips in the playlist RAFFLES Clips.

fun things that happened at idkhow philly
during vip, when asked about the gloom division cover art and what inspired it, dallon mentioned that he represented the sin of pride! i forgor what movie he said inspired the black tar
also during vip, breezy amelie and knox were bowling. because the brooklyn bowl is in fact an active bowling alley. also amelie is fucking TALL
apparently he and breezy have a short list of brobecks songs he'd like to remake with idkhow and on that list is ollie, BIG WIN FOR TRANSGENDER PEOPLE!!!
also apparently their ronnie (their drummer) keeps breaking snares. king please stop drumming so hard
benches were okay! i was not into their energy but the frontman was kinda cute
i dont remember when this happened but The Concert Baby.
Tumblr media
the Concert Baby had some sick dance moves
DALLON WEEKES MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE <3 he wrapped the mic cord around his neck like right in front of me but i didnt get a picture
i think anthony had glitter on his face? his face was very sparkly
right before kiss goodnight, dallon talked about how his family flew out to philly and he was so excited abt it he couldnt sleep
to roughly quote my dear friend cricket, he prances around onstage like a newly born deer frolicking in the fields
when the band came back onstage for encore, there was a pick like right on the edge of the stage and after some wild gesturing anthony gently placed it into my hands. i will cherish this moment in my mind for the rest of forever

My review on Big City Greens The Movie: Spacecation (Spoilers ahead!)
Oh gosh. THIS MOVIE.
Probably one of the best movies I've ever seen, it was funny, despairful, and entertaining.
Accuracy
I really am somewhat educated on space so I rate the accuracy of space a 4/10, some parts didn't make sense to the logic of space but the amazing plot made up for it.
Songs
The songs were amazing, I was personally very scared (/pos) when Rules Rap started and the other songs are very catchy, still playing in my head today. I have also analyzed and looped Stuff I Said MANY TIMES.
The Plot
Personally, I found the start very entertaining, the whole "being tricked into space" was hilarious and my jaw was on the floor for most of the movie. (*cough cough* locking Colleen in a cryochamber?)
I have also been SHATTERED by Bill and Cricket's argument, as they threw words at each other, the effect afterwards was TERRIFYING. They both had miscommunication and I can just imagine it. That could've been the last time they saw each other, truly a hopeless moment.
I really was hit hard when Cricket said, "Everything would be better if I wasn't-If I weren't so-" since....a poor 10 year old shouldn't be thinking like that.
In the end, the happy ending was amazing and really, a 10/10 movie for me.

A pity this got lost with the sea of the Pinocchio remakes. Everything about it is well-made. From the writing to the animation to the voices to the setting and themes.
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (or simply Pinocchio) is a 2022 musical dark fantasy stop-motion animated film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, drawing from the 1883 Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It stars the voice of Gregory Mann and David Bradley, with Ewan McGregor, Burn Gorman, Ron Perlman, John Turturro, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, Tim Blake Nelson, Christoph Waltz, and Tilda Swinton.

This video got randomly recommended to me (probably because of the world cup). Anyone else remember when this scandal was the most hilarious thing to come out of that year? Well, unless you were an Australian, that is.

I finished Bojack Horseman awhile ago and i want to know what are your thoughts on it? I think the ending is probably the best outcome for everyone and mostly Bojack. Him dying would be the easy way out. It's sad that people cut ties with him but he wholly deserved it. If anything i'm glad most of them did it as kindly as they did. I'm also glad Diane chose to trust Guy and trust the happiness provided to her.
I disliked Todd for the most part (the wacky zany antics are too much for me) though i cannot fully hate him because those parts are essential to balance out the episodes, i guess... i'm also satisfied with how his character arc ended.
One thing that surprised me though i noticed that a lot of people apparently hated Hollyhock? How? If anything she's one of the most blameless character in this whole story.
Bottom line uhh, it's a great show! I don't usually watch cartoons but this was so bingeable (which i think is a good thing - i usually have stupid low attention span for shows). The writing is very contemporary american-ish, if that makes sense? Sometimes it sounds like a twitter post rather than a human dialogue. Some of the comedy set pieces are too wacky random zany to my liking. Those are the negatives, but i like everything else! Check it out!!

So a while ago I was working at the little town bookstore (as you do, more stories about that sure to come) and I got so invested in a particular author (Alix E. Harrow) that I went and stalked her Instagram for a good long time while the store was quiet. And I found that she had recommended a book that wasn’t out yet, but was going to be out in a few days. It was Becky Chamber’s Psalm for the Wild Built.
And oh, oh boy, did that book change me. There are some people out there that you will meet who reach right into your body with their words and physically alter how your brain works. I was going through a rough time when I read this book, and I wept on the back porch of my parent’s home in the dappled shade of sugar maples and it was the first time I’d cried tears of happiness and relief in… a long, long time.
I recommend that book to everyone I met. It is my comfort book. It is a warm hug from someone you miss. It is a kind word from a stranger. It is a cup of tea on a rainy day and a glass of lemonade on a hot one. You ever want to feel seen, instead of observed? Comforted and encouraged instead of force-fed horrors? Reassured that people are good, and goodness finds a way, and small comforts are not luxuries to be ashamed of but essentials to be shared with anyone willing to sit by your table? Go read this book. It took me less than two hours to read.
It is not magical, it does not force a strange world upon you. It simply looks at you softy, offers you a drink and some food, which it has made itself but is happy to share, and tells you that it sees you, that you are real, and you are being cared for.
The second book came out a year later and I read it as soon as I could get my hands on it. It was equally comforting, and it challenged me to think about what I was giving to myself, and question whether enough of that was kindness. It challenged me to think about my faith, both in something greater than myself and something that was shared equally among everyone I will ever know. And once again, this time sitting in the dimly-lit kitchen of my first apartment, I wept tears of relief and joy. It was okay to feel how I was feeling. My grief had been seen, validated, and held in someone’s hands like glass until I could place it on the shelf of my experiences: never gone, but finally in its place.
This book of small comforts and gentle joys and big questions inside of small people made me feel safe. My greatest struggles have been with anxiety, with never feeling safe, and this book, for days at a time, made me feel safe in my own mind and body. Becky Chambers managed, in about 150 pages, to write a story that changed how my brain worked.
I’m pretty sure these are the best books I’ve ever read. And they came to me exactly when I needed them. I’m looking forward to what comes next.

THE ENTO LIFE - WHITE CHEDDAR AND COTTON CANDY CRICKET KICKERS REVIEW
Tumblr media
You voted, I ate! They arrived faster than I expected honestly, which is exciting and somewhat dread inducing given what was picked- But eating them wasn't as tough as I expected, as I guess whatever fears I had over the concept of eating crickets went away after I stopped to think about how, yeah, people eat bugs all the time! So, with that being said, let's get into it-
(Quick note that I'll be rating these on a true 0 - 10 scale, so 5 is average/mid, not 7)
TEXTURE:
I knew they would be roasted but, honestly, I didn't expect them to be quite so dry. They're crunchy, and sort of break into little bits, kind of like if you mixed pork rinds with half-popped popcorn, and if that sounds good to you then I don't blame you, but for me it detracted from the experience a bit. Maybe it'd be better if they were ground up and put in something though?
Texture Rating: 5/10
-
FLAVOR (WHITE CHEDDAR):
This is what I tried first, and I wasn't really too enthusiastic about it, because I don't really like white cheddar, it's ok but it's definitely one of my least favorite cheeses. I was right to be unenthused it seems as these crickets didn't taste good in the slightest to me, as not only was the white cheddar very present, but it didn't mix with the somewhat nutty and already kind of sharp cricket flavor very well, and the aftertaste really stays with you, so this was just overall unpleasant. If you gave me a small bowl of these, I could bear it, but I'm not gonna like it.
Flavor Rating: 3/10
-
FLAVOR (COTTON CANDY):
These absolutely shocked me, as I was expecting to be equally as disgusted by these as I was by the white cheddar, but to my surprise, I liked these a lot better- Now, do they taste like cotton candy? Ehhh not really. But what they do kind of taste like is whoppers candy/maltesers/milk duds, which is a big plus for me! Malt chocolates have never been my absolute favorite sweets, but I still like them quite a bit, so this was a welcome surprise. The aforementioned flavor profile of the cricket does hit pretty quick, and like before, the aftertaste does seem to stay a while, which detracts a little bit, but these are kind of good! I could see it working in a smoothie.
Flavor Rating: 6 or 7/10
-
PRESENTATION:
This doesn't mean much when it comes to the snacks themselves, but I have to comment on it! I love the fact they come in vial-like tubes like this, plus the label design and bonus pin is a nice touch. I do kind of wish the containers were glass and metal though instead of plastic all the way through, although I understand why they did it the way they did.
Presentation Rating: 8/10
-
In conclusion, while I probably won't be getting these again, I'm glad I tried these, and it makes me curious to try other edible bugs! Would I recommend them? Well if the concept of the flavors or the way I described them seems appealing to you, then sure! and even if not, then I would at least recommend looking into other flavors or types of edible bug, as eating bugs isn't really that weird, it's just another type of food to experience!
-
Big thanks to everyone who voted on the flavor poll, and if you have any other suggestions for literal bug snacks that I can eat then feel free to send them my way.
