Dear departed, 

we are gathered here to remember a show about 3 boys who shared the same name; but whose personalities and appearances were distinct from one another. It’s……somewhat fitting that I choose this song this Ed-MV, how come though? Well my friends, it's also with a heavy heart to announce that this will be my final Ed, Edd n Eddy video. 

I know some of you might be sad to hear this, but I really did all I could with this series of videos. I feel they had a good run and I was glad to make them year in and out. But I can’t do this stuff forever, I don't want them to be my legacy. Think of it this way, this doesn’t mean that the Ed-MVs are gone, it's just that my work here is done. Times are changing, which gives me a reason to move away from the EEnE video scene. But that doesn’t mean I’m leaving the fanbase. My time making these videos has helped me develop my visionary skills, but they also helped me be a part of a community that’s just as passionate about the show as I am. I would pay such dedication to a show that formed my childhood (as well as the person I am today). 

With this video, I’ve put all my experience of making Ed-MVs into it. My goal was to create a montage of sequences to each section of the song. The reason for this approach is that I wanted to illustrate how memories can flash before your eyes. I did this by displaying the emotional and sentimental moments from the show. To represent the beauty and wonder of youth as well as the arches of ageing. How our progression is so full of possibilities; as well as the end of eras. But also, I really wanted to leave this series of Ed-MVs on a memorable note that cherishes the time I had with them.

But with that said, if this is my favourite animated show of all time, you probably wonder why I haven’t made more videos of it? Well the thing is, on the web, there’s plenty of videos and love for this show to go around. I make more Cramp Twins videos because there was material from it that I felt people weren’t making from it. With this show, I wanted to offer my ideas to the table. Making AMVs of the Ed boys has been a fun and creative experience for me. For what it's worth, it has also been instrumental in forming the artist I want to be. But they’ve also made me continue to love this cartoon. Watching and making these Ed-MVs will always be another special memory with it. 

This show brought me laughs and feels; it inspired me to be creative, it inspired me in how I should tell stories to children. I didn’t intend to keep these videos going for so long, but once again; I must bid farewell to the children of Peach Creek. I had fun with their antics, but it's time for me to grow up and make my own stories. As I move on from making fan projects with the Eds, I hand the torch to the next generation. I hope that young fans of the series will keep the tradition of Ed-MVs alive for years to come. But I will never forget my time in this Cul-De-Sac of YouTube.

LITERALLY like its people discussing the characters as living people and not plot tools. no matter what mapleshade did her kits would die because the plot NEEDS them to die. they were doomed the second they were out of camp lol

(i would say the bridge route would probably just have the kits succumb to hypothermia from being out in leaffall rain though, given how fragile kittens are. then people would whine about how she didnt take the faster route. also also doesnt getting to the bridge require crossing the stream near fourtrees, which is also capable of flooding. like fireheart almost dies there in one book. i just checked the map again and it looms like you need to hop the stream to get there)

From what I understand of that particular creek, it's a "syke." A syke is a seasonal stream fed by extra rain, floodwater, and snowmelt, usually only seen in spring and early autumn. A syke is also called a "bourne" further south in England.

So the syke could be active because of the extra flooding, yeah. Which would make it dangerous to take that detour. Mapleshade on her 4th playthrough of MV trying to get 100% completion so she takes the long way around, only for the plot wave to follow her all the way down there too lmao. SYKE!

There has been ongoing discussion of Only Friends amongst a few of us about central themes of the show and ideas Jojo seems to be exploring. We ended up in a discussion on ephemerality that led to a broader discussion on what the show is trying to say about permanency, mostly through the use of things like Boston's photography, surveillance videos, and other audio/visual means.

We also touched on the idea of voyeurism being a running theme (potentially tying back to the very public nature of queer culture in the 80's and 90's) based on the different medias being presented and the frameworks that each episode has used so far. I posited at the time that the different frameworks of each episode could be a type of voyeurism (and because we've brought up control), a type of controlled voyeurism; the voice overs, talking heads and even the Twitter posts are great for giving the audience insight into character insights, feelings and emotions but only what they want us to see.

There was also discussion in the tag about how this show feels like a throwback to sort of a late 90's aesthetic over all (I can't find this post - specifically I'm thinking of a post that mentioned OF had a very Dawson's Creek aesthetic, which hit me like a truck when I read it because YES). Given that Jojo was born in 1984, so I think this post about OF being the voice of 80's babies is right.

So, you must be asking, duh, we've already talked about this. What's your point?

All of this extremely prolific long-windedness is because I noticed something while watching the Let's Try MV from the OST as well as the BTS videos that have been released so far and I don't think anyone has mentioned it.

In the MV, shots from the show (both what appear to be canon and a smidge of BTS material) are shown like they were filmed on a mid-90's camcorder. This also happens in the in the BTS videos as well (episode 1, episode 2.)

Also, both the MV and the BTS videos have visual effects. Transitions like lens flares, static, and whatever that blippy line distortion was on VHS tapes that we fixed with the tracking buttons (if you know, you know) repeatedly show up in both.

(Please prepare yourself for some absolutely horrible screenshots; I have no skills in this area, lmao, but I wanted a couple of visuals)

(What? No, I didn't choose these three screenshots because of the colors, absolutely not. I also absolutely am not tagging @respectthepetty because of it either, nope. Don't know what you're talking about.)

But Slayerkitty, you ask, what does it mean?

It definitely shows that we're on the right track regarding this, I think, because using it in the MV and BTS materials is a very deliberate choice given the amount of photo, video, and audio focus the show has done to this point. Interestingly, you could also say the BTS videos are a type of controlled voyeurism as well, since it's a specific peek at how things were made (the view they want us to have lol).

(Also interesting but I'm not sure if it means anything or if they just thought it looked cool, but in the MV from about 2:29-2:40 and 2:52-3:10 the scenes are all "camcorder" video and the second time stamp is pretty much all BTS footage.)

(P.S. I also don't think anyone mentioned it before now, but that fluffy jacket/cardigan thing we're all obsessed with that Ray wore in episode two is what Khaotung is wearing the MV. It looks like they probably shot the episode two car scene and the MV the same day/night.)

Hi! I'm 2D95 on The Sims 4 Gallery, I'm a long time player who loves creating detailed, base game only builds that give life to the game, overcoming the limitations of playing with no packs by recreating many types of lot that we base game besties wouldn't have otherwise.

I decided to start posting here to have a complete and organized collection of all my builds - by now I've renovated all the lots in the base game worlds MANY times & I have a ton of lots that I hope are useful for anyone who wishes to play in aesthetically pleasing and detailed builds.

Most of the builds I'm sharing here are as I said base game only, but I will occasionally share some that features free extra content. I will not feature CC (even if I love it, but it can be heavy on most computers and its not available for console players)

These lots are both for personal use and for creating content like MV and Sims gameplay videos - I would actually love for this to happen, please tell me if you use them so I can appreciate!

oh my god literally none of the main characters are ever together in season 6 were they all shooting movies or something this is ridiculous its episode eight and there has been a grand total of one group scene involving everyone that lasted about one minute, everybody just gets paired off with side characters and once in a blue moon has a scene with a main character i need things to changeeeeee

I’m keep wondering about your pinned post. Seems so random for it to only be about the surprise songs. Every time I see it, I’m reminded of the discussions about messages relating to self-discovery. Even the OOTW mv ends with this message and maybe relates to the 🎃 message about the woods?

Hi, Anon! I think about this ask a lot too. I guess I see it like…somebody in the know thought it would be fun to send in a hint toward an upcoming surprise song mash up. I’m deeply grateful whoever it was thought to send to me! It was so exciting! After I watched the livestream and put it together, I spent the rest of the day walking around like this: 🤯☺️🫨🤭!

But hmmm maybe there could be more to it like you say. For example, I’ve been thinking about the Emily Dickinson reference that @corneliastvendor discovered. It’s curious to me because it wasn’t necessary; one could hint at this mash up without an Emily Dickinson reference. Is there something more here than a superfluous nod to a beloved poet in the lead up to TTPD’s release? I’m not sure! My gut says it was just someone having a little fun but I will be on the lookout in case anything else clicks.

I’m not sure I’m familiar with the self-discovery discussions you mentioned but I’ve always thought Taylor’s imagery of the woods is as beautiful as it is purposeful.

Taylor’s lyrics about trees and the woods have the same theme throughout her catalog…it’s like an eloquent way to sing about periods of life that are complicated. There is no clear path out of the situation you’re in. You right down in it, in the mess. But honey when you’re above the trees, you can see it for what it is. You can see the clearing you’re searching for.

Here are some examples that come to mind.

We were “waiting in the tree line” as we supported a closeted Taylor. We had made it out of the heart of the woods all the way to the tree line that sits by an open field! We could see the clearing that was incoming freedom during the Lover era. But plans didn’t work out (understandably) and we were left hanging hiding in the woods.]

I can see 🎃’s message you mentioned having a similar vibe. The subject of that poem could arguably out searching for themselves in the woods, in the thick of the mess. Until they finally find the sovereign door and the courage to twist the handle. Here is the link to pumpkin’s woods poem.
