FORMJACKING: Every Online Shopper must know
As festivities like Diwali are around the corner, Cybercriminals are gearing up to steal your credit/debit card information.
In this post, I am going to share one of the terms every
ONLINE SHOPPER MUST KNOW. The term is formjacking. So what formjacking
actually is. Formjacking is a term used for injecting Javascript code into the online payment form to steal the credit or debit card information.
So how actually formjacking works?
Formjacking works when the clicks on the submit or its equivalent button after entering their credit card or debit card information and other user details.
Once the user clicks on this submit button, this code embedded inside the payment form sends this payment information and other user details like user ID and password to the Hacker's server.
Once they get this information, they can use this information for other online payment fraud or even they might sell it to
the dark web.
As per Symantec, Formjacking is increasing rapidly during the recent few months.  As per Symantec, every online e-commerce site which processes online payment is a potential risk for formjacking.
Formjacking can be reduced if we take some precautions like –
#1 Using a strong password and avoid using the same for different user accounts.
#2 Do not open email from unknown people, this might be a phishing attempt.
#3 Change the default password of your home internet devices.
#4 Use VPN while connecting to public wifi or other unsafe networks.
#5 Update your antivirus programs, always keep it up to date.
Also, make your operating system always up to date.
As of now, I think using the Cash on Delivery (COD) if available is the best bet until Security Company like Symantec comes up with a patch for preventing this formjacking.

What’s even more frustrating is the impact this incident could have on your credit score if not handled right away. To help you prevent bad actors from gaining access to your credit or debit accounts, I wanted to share some helpful tips on credit card security.
