The púca (Irish for spirit/ghost; plural púcaí), pooka, phouka is primarily a creature of Celtic folklore. Considered to be bringers both of good and bad fortune, they could help or hinder rural and marine communities. Púcaí can have dark or white fur or hair. The creatures were said to be shape-changers, which could take the appearance of horses, goats, cats, dogs, and hares. They may also take a human form, which includes various animal features, such as ears or a tail.

CREATUANARY 2021
(Here is the prompt list)
Day 02/31 - Bloodsucker Dragon
Almost 20 days later I decided to return to the Creatuanary - maybe I can finish it by February. We'll see "Bloodsucker dragon" was the prompt for the 2nd day. I saw a lot of great vampire dragon arts, inspired by bats and other animals that feed on blood, but almost always mega monstrous and big. I decided to go for a more "biological" view, so to speak. Blood-sucking animals are not usually large, as blood is not a very nutritionally complete food, so much so that most animals on this diet are arthropods and small vertebrates such as bats, fish and some types of birds no larger than a thrush. I inspired my dragon in fish like candirus and lampreys, which feed by entering the gills of other fish or sticking to them with funnel-like sucking mouths respectively. My "vampire wyvern" lives in tropical rivers, like the Amazon, feeding on the blood of large animals, like anacondas - which is the case in the image - using their almost transparent bodies to camouflage themselves in the muddy water.

 Day 6: Tibicena
A Tibicena also known as Gaucanchas was the mythological creature of the Guanches, pre-Hispanic inhabitants of Canary Island. They were imagined to be demons or genies that looked like great wild dogs with red eyes and long black fur. They lived in the caves in mountains and are often noted to prey on the livestock and persons, especially during night. Now, coming to the good folks of Kerala, mainly the 90s kids must remember about an unknown creature that terrorized the night time, killing and drinking the blood of livestock, whom the natives simply chose to call "Anyathajeevi". They too were described by eye witnesses as a creature that looked like a big dog, black fur and glowing eyes. Coincidence?

Fish Man
Very late to the party, but I thought it would be fun to practice using Clip Studio Paint by starting with the January/Creatuanary prompts of 2021.

CREATUANARY 2021
(Here is the prompt list)
Day 01/31 - Fish Man
With a little delay, we started Creatuanary! "Fishman" was the first day of the prompt, which is a good excuse for me to make a Deep One, the race of aquatic humanoids that serve and worship Cthulhu in the Lovecraft Mythos. You know. H. P. Lovecraft That author of the early twentieth century who was more xenophobic and racist than the average of the time, whose work gets much better when other authors expand on its more “acceptable” aspects rather than the... well... terrible aspects. That guy.
-
This was also an attempt at a more complex scenery - complex for me at least - and some perspective as well. Any constructive critiscism about this aspects of the drawing is more than welcome ^^
