How I write metas? A meta about metas
Tumblr media
If this deconstruction post is going to be useful for any aspiring meta writer on this OPM fandom that I currently follow, then be my guest. :D
Warning: Semi-long post.
Step 1: Inspiration
Nope, really can't get into my head all the time to write stuff as much as I would love to but when I do, it's because I get a good inspiration from something. It does not really matter at this point if it's short or long, just the subject matters. Then if I get inspired, I will usually stew on that idea for a while and think about the points in the manga that fit.
Unfortunately inspiration does not strike all the time so there's always that. I'm going with the route that "you can't force inspiration to come to you, you want the inspiration to become you" or something like that. Take that with grain of salt, I just made it up on the spot.
Tumblr media
Step 2: Practice
I've personally been writing fanfics since I was...a teen I believe and meta is just a subsection of writing school essays, except it's actually fun. So writing something has been quite a lot of work put behind it, but nobody says one cannot start from scratch today and the meta doesn't need to be immediately impressive, we're just writing it for fun yanno? For other fandom peeps who maybe wanna hear our thoughts. Just gotta start from somewhere yanno? My earlier metas are prolly a fair bit different than my current metas.
Like they say, practice makes perfect.
Step 3: The creative process
Ok so to the nitty gritty of the meta making... PLOT NO JUTSU!
I oftentimes either discuss the meta on discord channels with likeminded peeps and then start gathering some images from the manga to use as my images to enhance my point and make my texts also visually interesting to look at and make some clarifying points. I tend to find some good relative image to use as my first image because it'll show up in archive search like so:
Tumblr media
It'll be easier to search for my metas even without searching for my tags from my archives if they look similar.
Next, I keep a folder for all my meta images in a neat pile and I use paint ms to cut me nice images to post into my meta and I also have cubari , the one site which hosts all the chapters so far, open where I can just grab images whenever. Basically any kind of image tool you got from paint to gimp to photoshop can help you crop images you want to use if you want to use images in your meta.
My brain can sometimes be pretty hard to follow apparently, so I do try to parse a lot when I write my texts and keep it somewhat coherent. Parsing information via the canon timeline can help form a coherent timeline to follow in a meta.
In general, you want your writing progress to be seamless and disturbance free creative process, not unlike drawing. Sometimes ambient music on the background can help focus on the actual meta writing process (currently listening to Ardenweald from WoW), which can take me from 1 hour to all the way to 5 hours in a single sitting, which is quite long but remember, tumblr drafts saves your progress even if you save it nowhere else and it's entirely possible to finish the thinking process another day when you have more time.
Sometimes I include links to either my own metas or some outside source, which I then briefly quote on my text, like in the Saitama mental health meta where I citate depression effects on memory recollection. The quote sources can also be stated at the very end like in a real essay, but to me personally I'm fine without the citations at the end, long as I state my sources and then put quotes into indented text.
Tumblr media
Step 4: The writing itself
Paraphrasing helps make your text look coherent and easier to read to just about anybody, so avoid pure walls of texts. I usually write longer texts, but that is up to the writer to decide how short, long or how abridged they can/wanna make their work, which frankly is not one of my best skillsets lmao. Just gotta make sure to put that warning in the front if it's long post.
Nowdays, I also include chapter names and numbers about the relevant information I'm writing meta about in between () marks and itallics to further separate it from plain text, which might be helpful to people if they search for that specific plot point from the manga itself. Then if it's a particularly long meta, a tl;dr at the bottom if I can form a proper tldr.
Sometimes I also get struck by random thought and I just have to write it out haha. Sometimes I ask for aid and opinions on discord channels.
Any long metas should definitely have that "readmore" cutoff in the beginning, else entirety of tumblr or wherever you'll post the meta will hate you.
Step 5: Revision & Tagging
You can hold on from posting the meta the very same day and just keep it revised for a bit longer if you want to correct spelling mistakes or if you think you can maybe adds some more to it. Revision is just as important in writing meta as in writing something like fanfiction and I personally do a fair bit of both.
When tagging, I just use "opm meta" for all my opm related metas and then tag in fandom and characters that apply to the current meta and then some other related subjects like "mental health, character study" etc. I prolly haven't tagged my earlier metas that properly but eh... if you write on another platform and then copypaste it to tumblr, make sure that the plain text shows properly and doesn't create any weirdness.
Closing thoughts...that's about it folks, that's how I write meta and how I wrote this piece as well. Which took me roughtly 1hr 45mins to write down at my current writing speed but I've been thinking about this since yesterday haha.
Tumblr media
Tl;dr: Inspiration, practice, creative process by saving images and thoughts as they go, writing and paraphrasing, revision and tagging properly.

Since it seems everyone is in jlars analysis mode, I wanted to know your thoughts on this- some time was spent in James's 72 Seasons interview discussing the greater amount of collaboration on 72 Seasons and specifically how it was a divergence from a creative process mostly guided by James and Lars as a pair. I was intrigued by James saying "I don’t want to sit there with Lars and create the songs anymore" and that "Lars eventually understood" why James was looking for this greater collaboration (which indicates some hesitation on Lars's part). Steffan said he was going to ask Lars what that process was like, but he didn't really und up question Lars about it directly in his interview. If you had to make an inference, what do you think Lars's reaction was like considering how much of their relationship (and trust) has been entangled in this exclusive, special creative process of theirs?
Really nice question! In Italy we have a saying "come invitare un'oca a bere" (lit: almost like asking/inviting a duck to drink) meaning line, hook, sinker, here is my opinion fhkjkshdkfjhskfhsdfkj
Sorry if this wasn't the answer you expected.
You can see that post HQ, post St. Anger, when they are in the middle of the creative process (not the recording), they are all there -more or less, Kirk's lost phone and other shenanigans. If you open up a random Mission Metallica vid, you'll see the four of them there discussing riff placements and stuff. So, again, it's not a shocking reality, it has def not been James-and-Lars in Lars' basement for a while now. But I too I was interested in how James worded this approach, the fact he took on the responsibility of ensuring that every opinion got heard.
Long story short: I don't think it was a big shake for Lars.
Long story long:
I remember reading that part of James' interview and going "oh?", because even if the opening up process is years in the making, it feels a bit new in the how it's enforced.
It's a new approach, for sure, and Metallica always tries new ways.
"Lars eventually understood" to me is not dramatic or angsty. I don't think it was something he need to understand on an emotional level, more... pragmatically.
There is this quote that I dont have handy but it's basically Lars saying that sometimes he gets frustrated when there is someone else beside them in the creative process, because it feels like even if the song is on step one, when James and Lars talk about it, they are already 3-4 steps ahead but on the same step. [end of paraphrasing]
So, when they talk, they are already there on step 5, and some one would be like "wait, what?" and they have to stop, turn and explain etc etc. This feels frustrating for him, bc it takes time and interrupts the flow. Lars is a bit... idk if you noticed... eager, impatient fjdhfjksfhkd he frowns, he pouts and he is bouncing on his seat if you dont get it and you are interrupting what should be already be going going going.
Imagine that kid at school that when the teacher asks a question to a classmate, after 5 seconds of silence they speak up and answer instead, bc c'moooon, let's move on, they don't knowwww. That hfdsjhfjsdfhjfh sometimes Lars looks like that.
And, I mean, I get it? He has been doing this since forever, he knows how to do it, how to do it well, and has a set of tools to work out every musical problem under the sun. So if you know that, for that specific thing, you need that specific spanner, you say so and move on, because that's the way you've always solved that issue. James wanted to try new stuff, new points of view, so basically they tried every spanner or wench or whatever to see if alternative creative solutions would be better. I can see why at first could feel like a drag.
IMHO, that was the obstacle, and that's what Lars had to accept.
For the "I don’t want to sit there with Lars and create the songs anymore" part, there is an asterisk, like, it's implied "... like we used to". And I get that, to create different music you have to try different things. Also, Metallica doesn't like getting too comfortable, and what's more comfortable than doing what you've done since day one?
I talked abt the asterisk, because the album itself is the proof that he didn't mean it literally. Big ass example: Inamorata.
Who is credited for Inamorata? Who listened via zoom to that haunting riff and said "wait, what's that"?
To sum it up: I don't think Lars had to compromise nothing more than his patience fhdkshfkjsdf and I dont think he considers Kirk and Rob outsiders of the creative process, they don't waltz at the same speed and tempo he and James do, yeah, but I don't think he lives it as an intrusion or something like that. Especially nowadays he is more calm and chill, I think he was just struggling against his innate instinct to waltz right through the process with James like they have fun doing, but in the meantime maybe they all learned some new moves!

I want to be a better writer so I started analyzing some books I like to see what makes them so good- taking a paragraph out of the book and studying the word choice and sentence structure- and you know what I found every. single. time?
it’s poetry. you can always tell that a good writer is very often a poet as well. the creative ways of describing things just out of reach? poetry. the way paragraphs flow better when each sentence has alternating amounts of syllables? that’s a poetry thing. George Saunders in his book “A Swim in a Pond in the Rain” said that (i’m paraphrasing here) language is limited and it’s like there’s this fence in between what we can describe with words and the deeper parts of the human experience that we don’t have the language for but long to express anyway. the writer throws themself against that fence, trying to break it, and fails. But that bulge in the fence that gives you just a taste of the other side? that’s what poetry is.
And, at its best I think fiction can be that as well. We tell stories and we slip in and out of that fence and wink and nudge our way to those wordless parts of humanity.
All this to say, I come from a family of poets and generally wasn’t interested in reading or writing it because it seemed to mystical and hard to understand. But now I’m realizing that to be a good creative writer I’m going to need to develop the tools of a poet as well, or at the very least read some poetry. And tbh i resent that

Hey, a little while ago, you reblogged that post about AI learning when people insert fics into AI text generators, and I wanted to offer good news and bad news: the good news is that AI learning models mostly don’t work like this. The publicly accessible text generator isn’t the whole learning model, it’s a single machine that the learning model generated. It won’t get fed directly back into the AI.
The BAD news is that there’s not really anything stopping them from saving that information separately to use later, and (much worse) anything that’s publicly available has probably already been scraped and saved. The good-in-this-context-but-depressing-overall news is that these models operate on the scale of billions of words, so, like. Idk. Individual fics ending up in a database mostly isn’t going to matter. That’s part of why the data-scraping isn’t something devs think about, ethically. This info is a paraphrase of another post I’ve seen going around saying the same thing, but I can personally corroborate it; before AI was a “crypto people hate when artists can earn a living” thing, I took some college courses on it and followed blogs about AI stuff for years. The last year or two of AI news has been really shitty :P It’s been really cool to me for a long time, but it is now clear that it’s even-more-vulnerable-than-usual to “capitalism uses every tool for oppression first” Knowing how it works is exhausting because anti-AI people are sometimes not all that much more accurate about how it actually works than the fervently pro-AI “I think chat-gpt is a person and human-generated art is dead” people, and then both of them skip talking about the more concrete problems like the “chat-gpt is propped up by slave labor” stuff.
I really appreciated this series of asks and wanted to make it available for all!
I think what we run into here is where like. A rhetorical device to invoke a sense of stakes and a bit of a guilt trip ("this is plagiarism because it feeds the AI" and its many permutations) can run up against misinformation (it's not literally becoming part of the AI's knowledge base, though as you noted it certainly COULD.) Because like
Where that post was coming from was someone being like "but why shouldn't I do this?" and the answerer resorting to "because it takes my work away from me" and this is still true in like, the rules of community and creativity if not necessarily in the hard lines of code. it's harder to articulate "this makes me uncomfortable because it's violated my ineffable sense of mutual belonging with and ownership of my own work, which I already felt on shaky ground on because it's fanwork but still FEEL with my WHOLE HEART" than it is to say "this concretely makes my words fuel for the machine" which I think people grok as a more sort of understandable breach of that social contract.
Which is why I like this post a lot because it gets at the WHY of why this is so perturbing and violating and isolating
Fandom was never meant to be a solo endeavor! when I write fic and put it out into the world, it's like echolocation. the words I put out are only half of what gives it shape and meaning to me-- the other half is the sound of it reverberating back to me as it bounces off the people it hits by way of comments, tags in reblogs, and DMs and they tell me their reactions and interpretations. that's what makes it a complete picture and not just screaming into the void.
to be removed from that process at all is a heartbreak to me; to have my words taken without my consent is insulting and misses the point and just. ultimately makes all of us that much more alone. which is to say that it's factually correct to say individual fics ending up in a database won't matter because it's probably already been scraped anyway because that's true for the AI and for the data. but individual fics DO matter insofar as like, these are choices people are making about what this hobby is and means and why they like it and what they think it's for and how they enjoy it, on a communal and social level, and THAT matters to me a great deal, in the same way that like, people now might end up getting videoed for a tiktok without their consent or whatever. it's about the erosion of privacy and respect.
but also yeah ChatGPT also runs thanks to exploited and underpaid workers, consumes horrific amounts of water in a time of increasing drought crisis and emits tons of carbon to boot.

Why are so many creative people using AI?
So, a few days back, I ran into multiple people having a meltdown on Twitter about a seasoned and reputed artist who had been using AI tools and experimenting with them to create new works. Most of these people were hurt because this artist person is an icon and has impacted many young people.
The most common QTs that I read had more or less the same dilemma framed as a question, which when paraphrased boils down to: It’s hard to understand why amazing artists are turning to using AI?
The answer that many are seeking isn't that hard to find: IT IS CAPITALISM.
Isn’t it simple: the physical and mental labour behind an original work does not yield the money these talented and hard-working artists deserve. So if something makes their life easier and pays the same for less effort, why will they not use the latest tech? Which in their case is the AI. To many artists, using AI for certain aspects of their work is like using Grammarly for us copyeditors, they see it as a tool.
Art is labour-intensive, that’s why you demand better pay or watch your heroes doom.
Instead of screaming from a moral high ground and calling out, understand why talented people are tempted to use AI. They are not slithering to the Dark Side because they lack artistic integrity, they are slowly being made to feel that playing by the set rules is not in their favour. And I am not talking about AI prompters calling themselves artists here at all, those parasites can fall off the face of the planet. I am talking about actual artists with years of training and learning using AI because of poor pay-scale, unfair working conditions and unethical practices in IP Laws.
Likewise, I have said this before, AI is not limited to just gen AI like Chatgpt, Sora or the one used in Midjourney. AI has existed for a while in many industries. It is extremely helpful in healthcare, accounting, agriculture, and cancer research, albeit its usefulness can be exploited by people with money and power and copyright and patent. And who are these people; they mostly work for the tech companies. These companies and industries monopolize each field of knowledge for profit and will use AI and anything that comes after it to squeeze out profit at any cost. Many artists have understood this and are quit-quitting on their efforts, and can we blame them? Why do I know this, as a former book-editor I know many book-cover designers, who are refusing to stretch their creative selves for new work. AI-developing companies have stolen their work to train their systems, so they are using those AI tools to cut down on the raw material called the thinking process. Eventually, it will become a cycle where the snake eats its tail, only with the presence of AI rendering the snake might not look like a snake, but what an individual’s idea of a snake-form! “Twice removed thrice placed” like Plato said.
So before calling out individual artists: CALL OUT CORPORATIONS! They are making the creative and innovative fields hostile to originality and harming the most important factor of creation; the need for time to think. Everyone and everything is being churned, good art and good results come with patience. Capitalistic demand for everything instantly is destroying not only our attention span but the long process of conceiving an idea, planning the project and executing the idea and deliverance! Because remember, talented people not from only art but also from other branches will and are using AI. If they find the value of their hard-work is undermined. They will use AI to get by. Thinking and doing creative work is an exhausting process. So if clients and giant companies can’t respect that, more and more people will become frustrated or just decide to use any tech that helps.
And do not bring environmental issues here just to call out artists. Yes, we have every right to be angry at what the use of AI does to the planet. But having a public meltdown on social media, and harassing underpaid exhausted artists, is not the answer.
The problem of environmental safety again lies with big tech, Fortune 500 and the oil companies who are fucking the planet at the very moment while the entire human population sits tied, bound and gagged to a chair like a hostage.
It's sad, I can understand that it hurts to see your creative heroes sell out and go to the other side, but these are consequences of long-term inaction.
Hence, bring out the sticks, stones, and boulders and riot. Grieve out openly and make it a headache for organizations who are replacing the human workforce with AI.
P.S: Before you call me pro-AI, I am not. I am someone who is currently unemployed because AI literally took over my job. I am trying to be sensible and make sense of the bigger picture, which is beyond the 280 character count.

I have a temp job for a big art festival, right? Today at work I had to chew on my lips as a permanent worker there recounted, during a marketting oriented staff meeting, how she'd gone to this fascinating event/preview whatever thing... And been introduced to AI tools.
Paraphrasing her :
And [the demonstrator] even made a small animation and wrote a text using these AIs, and it wasn't perfect! It still needed human oversight. [insert some platitudes] But there's this fear that AI will come and steal our jobs. I think we're safe. Ultimately AI will become a tool for us to use. It's not like they're sentient or anything. The future isn't so dark.
And like... Do you not realise, that since it's an unethically trained AI... It has literally ALREADY stolen jobs?
Do you not realise that when you'll turn to your AI tool to make a small animation for your business, it'll be one less paycheck for an animator? Someone who would have brought vision and creativity in a way your AI will never be able to?
Ai stealing jobs seems to only be a concern to people when they think about their own job.

The Truth about Law of Attraction Practitioners and Teachers
I received an email from a wonderful person who commented that I always seem grounded and in faith, and she asked me what LOA technique leads to the fastest click here to learn more manifestation. My initial response was to blink, smile, and then chuckle.
My response to her about which technique produces the fastest results was 100 percent Absolute Faith (Expectation), which is 100 percent freedom from doubt. This is a true answer if you understand how reality works. If you do understand how it works, you know to drop the line about freedom from doubt so you don’t match your vibration to doubt. Fun, huh? Each of us has our own set of beliefs to shift to reach 100 percent expectation, so each of us experiences this process differently and in different timing.
Imagine you’re standing on one side of a ravine and you want to cross to the other side because what you’d like to experience next is over there. You need a bridge. So, you walk about a bit and find a bridge (or make one). How we move from one moment to another is our bridge. We get mucked up when we hold perceptions about our bridge. Suppose your bridge is made of wood and rope. Maybe a few boards are missing. Some people would go into fear or judgment about how the bridge appears, even if it gets them across. Others might think, “Wow, this is an adventure. I’m like Indiana Jones.” They both get across, but who will enjoy the experience more?
If you ask any of the LOA practitioners out there marketing their techniques and products if every moment is pure bliss for them, they’ll tell you (or should) that no, they aren’t; but, they use methods to shift this and have integrated the understanding of why it’s important to do so. I assure you, I use the same coaching tools, often, that I share with clients. I express appreciation every day that these tools are in my life.
Another thing it would benefit us to shift is thinking that if we use LOA, everything about our lives has to be perfect or has to appear so to others. Our purpose is to be authentic and create experiences that are authentic for us and allow us to increase every area of our experiences.
But, aren’t we supposed to feel bad when things aren’t going as we’d like? I can tell you that feeling bad happens, but choosing to feel bad any longer than necessary has never made me feel better. How bad do you need to feel in order to feel better? How creative, open to next steps, and pro-active are you when you feel really, really bad? If you grasp how this law works, you can see that little or nothing can shift until you shift your energy, even a little, to attract what you prefer. Even if you don’t give a flip about LOA, the rest of it is true.
The law is simple: you magnetize (attract and receive) whatever you match your vibration to.
Let’s say you have a particular outcome you desire, choose, or intend. Maybe the timing for everything to line up is moving more slowly than you’d like. Sometimes, it is about right timing. Always, it’s about vibration.
So, you say to yourself (over and over and over), “I’m not getting the results I want.” Well, you’ve just energized into the quantum field that you don’t get results. LOA follows your instructions (your vibrations) and holds off the results. See how this works?
What if you catch yourself thinking this and say, “Wait a minute. Is that a true statement? No. A true statement is I get results.” Now, I hear some of you saying, “Sure, I get results; just not the results I want.” What needs to be shifted about that statement? You know what. Go ahead and say it. I paraphrase Henry Ford’s accurate statement: If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.
You do get results, don’t you? And, the results match the energy you hold about experiences and outcomes. Remember that this works for your immediate circle of influence, your personal experiences; you don’t get to infringe on others. Others in alignment with your intended outcomes may and will join you, but you don’t get to push what you intend on others without the energy backing up on you in a way you won’t enjoy.
Ernest Holmes said the man who can practice inaction perfectly is a master at manifestation. Often, we think if we’re not seeing outcomes or seeing them fast enough, we have to run around at warp speed doing things to Make It Happen. What if you took a quiet hour and created a magnetic vision instead? What if you used a process that allows you to shift your beliefs and activate what you really choose to experience? What if these techniques opened you to the next right action and the next? This is a different kind of time and energy management method, and it’s a lot easier on the body, mind, and spirit. If you intend to cut down a tree in an hour, spend a few hours sharpening the ax first.

Incorporating Plagiarism Checks into Your Workflow: A Guide for Writers and Editors
Tumblr media
In the field of writing and editing, maintaining originality is paramount. With the enormity of information available on the internet, unintentional plagiarism can sometimes occur, especially when gathering research or fact-checking. To avoid this, writers and editors should make plagiarism checks an integral part of their workflow. This blog will provide guidance on how to effectively incorporate plagiarism checks into your process.
Understanding Plagiarism
Plagiarism occurs when someone uses another person's work, ideas, or words without proper credit or permission. In the writing industry, it's a severe ethical violation which can lead to legal repercussions and loss of reputation
Why are Plagiarism Checks Important?
1. Maintain credibility: Regular plagiarism checks ensure the credibility and honesty of your work, reaffirming your reputation as a skilled writer or editor. 2. Avoid legal issues: Copyright infringement can lead to legal complications. Regular plagiarism checks significantly reduce this risk. 3. Assure originality: By checking for plagiarism, you can ensure the creation of unique and original content. 4. Improve writing skills: Over time, regular checks can help writers become more skilled at paraphrasing, summarizing, and correctly citing sources.
Incorporating Plagiarism Checks in Your Workflow
Step 1 - Perform a Pre-Check Before Writing
After gathering all the necessary research material, it's wise to run a primary plagiarism check on these sources. This initial step aids in identifying potential issues even before the writing process begins.
Step 2 - Paraphrase Carefully and Cite Sources
Avoid copying text directly from your resources. Instead, rephrase the information in your own words while maintaining the original idea's integrity. Be transparent and cite your sources as this adds credibility to your work and respects intellectual property rights.
Step 3 - Use Plagiarism Detection Software
There are many plagiarism detection tools available on the market, both free and paid. These include Grammarly, Turnitin, and Copyscape, among others. After writing a piece, run it through one of these tools to detect any potential plagiarism.
Step 4 - Conduct a Final Review
After making adjustments based on the plagiarism check, perform a final review. This step ensures no portion of copied content slipped through the previous checks, verifying the originality of your work.
Step 5 - Regularly Remind and Train Your Team
As an editor or team leader, regularly remind your writers about the importance of plagiarism checks. Keeping your team trained on how to use these tools can foster a culture of honesty and accountability.
Conclusion
In the world of writing and editing, originality is key. By incorporating a systematic plagiarism check into your workflow, you not only ensure the uniqueness of your work but also uphold your professional reputation. Remember, plagiarism isn't merely about avoiding similar words. It's about embracing original thought, producing unique content, and respecting creative intellectual property. So, make plagiarism checks a routine - it’s an investment in the integrity of your work.

do you have writing tips :3c
You're asking for writing tips...from me? I'll try to point out some things okay, here we go.
So, first of, write a story you want to write whenever you want to. Pushing yourself by giving yourself a deadline will most likely fuck up with your creativity and your will to sit down and write. And it won't be as good as it would be if you took your time.
Do not be afraid to create new wips, even if you haven't finished all of your other ones. Some of those may stay unfinished forever and that's okay. Work on whatever your heart tells you to, whatever sparks inspiration.
Use paragraphs to give emphasis to certain scenes. Remember that a paragraph can be just one sentence long if you want it to be. You can fluctuate between relatively long paragraphs to short ones and that's a tool that you can use to engage with the readers' interest and attention. Same goes for punctuation too! Very useful tools.
Also, don't be afraid to repeat the same word in one paragraph, do it. Besides, repetition sometimes works on the writer's favour; you just gotta learn how to use it this way.
You don't need fancy words to make your work a good one. The way it flows really matters, description and dialogue.
Use the character's name if the narrator (pov by another character) knows said character. (eg. not Tails knew the hedgehog would save him but,Tails knew Sonic/he would save him) The character knows the other one, so it wouldn't make sense to call him by "hedgehog", even inside his mind.
There are also quite a few writing tips on the whole internet and I'm sure better writers than me would have a lot more to say. These are things I learned basically this past year and I've been trying to use myself. I also like to say that practice makes better.
Do not overexert yourself though. Writing works like a muscle. You pull and you stretch it to train it. Stretch (relax) it for yoo long, and you won't be able to pull easily. Pull (work) for too long and you'll get tired and possibly in pain. There needs to be a balance between the two to reach your goal. terrible analogy but my point is that everything needs time, practice needs time.
a friend of mine once said it's logical to be better the older you are; you've practiced for a much longer time than younger people than you. it's not that you have to be talented per se, you just practiced enough to get this good. (paraphrasing) So, I don't think I'm like, the best writer out there, not by a long shot. But I have practiced in one way or another and that's what counts in the long run:)

K, lemme make this clear.
I have no issue with people using AI generators in order to just mess around, have fun, and create something for themselves to enjoy. I also have no issue with people using AI as an inspirational tool whatsoever.
However, what I do have a problem with is when people label the generated content art (which it isn't. It's content, sure, but content created from an algorithmic processing of data rather than actual creativity of a living being), try to make money off of it, get mad at people reposting "their" AI generated image (going as far as attempting DMCA takedowns, which legally doesn't make sense since AI generated content cannot be copyrighted due to not being created by a human being), stealing / using artwork without consent in order to "train" an AI (I prefer the terminology "to feed it with data"), and probably worst of all, shit on people who actually put in the time and effort to draw an image (especially if said artists use protection mechanisms like Glaze in order to protect their artwork from being appropriated by AI).
There is so much work that goes into a single piece of artwork, and yes, programming is also work - however, most of these AI Bros seemingly do not program. How do I know that? Well, it's because a lot of them do not seem to understand how the technology they're promoting let alone basic programming works. Probably the best comment to illustrate this that I've read was "we don't need human artists anymore, we have enough AI generated content to train the AIs on" (paraphrased). Which is laughable, because if you actually did that, you'd create a feedback loop that over time results in AIs only ever being able to create a single image (if taken to the extreme).
Seriously, the entire "programming is just as hard as being creative, these artists are SO elitist and gatekeepers" makes me go 🙄 All these people do is stealing human-made content to feed an AI of their choice with it, come up with a prompt (easy, do you know how many ideas I have in a single day??? Too many to let all of them come to life!) and wait for a preprogrammed algorithm to render an image or create a text.
Again, this is nothing against people who just use AI to mess around, experiment, have fun, get inspired, quickly create some wholesome pics to look at, and so on - especially if those people (when they decide to post the AI generated content) disclose this properly. Like with everything, there are legitimate uses to AI that should not be hated on just for playing with AI. Yes, most existing generative AIs were trained unethically, however, the unethical training has already happened. I think what's more important than to hate on people who are really just trying to have fun while not hurting anyone is to prevent it from happening again in the present and future, and to separate them from the AI bros who clearly have way too large egos.
Thanks for reading my unpopular opinion on AI generated content.
