*The nature of winter Japan in the prints of Hasui Kawase
Since ancient times, the Japanese attitude to nature has given rise to specific Japanese customs of admiring the moon, snow, red maple leaves, flowering trees, and various flowers depending on the time of year.
Admiring the ancient Japanese is the perception of the world, nature, the whole essence of being through the contemplation of beauty.

A (very) late birthday gift for my great friend @bjekkergauken! Thank you for your patience!
I had a lot of fun doing it! It was my first time doing a terrestrial landscape, with hopefully more to come in the future when I get more experience!
As always, image ID will be in the alt text and reblogs. :)

Frosty Forestscape Frozen Fresco  https://fineartamerica.com/featured/frosty-forestscape-frozen-fresco-olena-art.html?newartwork=true  “Frozen Fresco”: A Winter Wonderland in brushstrokes 🎨 in winter landscape painting with snow-covered trees in Crackled Tranquility a Modern Fresco interpretation.  The crackled texture adds depth, hinting at stories etched into the very fabric of time. 🎨 Irregular Edges, Time Suspended: The canvas defies convention, its edges irregular and untamed. Like a memory half-remembered.

🐘✨ Elephants are my most favorite animal ever. This beautiful creation was made using ChatGPT. It’s a beautifully painted Indian elephant in a fantasy forest loving its life. This is how I wish all elephants could feel, free and magnificent. 🌲💫

Correction - Werewolf AU Clip Studio Paint Pro Among the Shooting Stars (Part 1) Part 2 of the ongoing collection of illustrations set in a modern Werewolf AU of my partner and I's creative project, Crystal Heart. This directly follows Part 1, wherein a third player enters the scuffle. Prose below:
Please don’t be too late. Surely there’s time!
The door’s broken. Burst out from inside. Heavy scratches on the boards. The scent. Fear.
Rage. Hunger…
She ran. He followed. Go!
How could I have been so careless? Tonight of all nights!
No!
Don’t focus on that.
Run! Run fast! There’s still time.
Their scents are strong, a recent chase. They must be close.
There’s still time.
Was that blonde hair? Tufts of brown?
Can’t stop to check.
Must go.
W-was that… a scream?
No.
NO!
I can’t.
I won’t be too late.
There’s. Still. Time.
There! Slow up.
He has her pinned, he’s savoring it.
Naive pup. Playing with his food.
Not food. His lover.
My friend.
Her hind-legs lurched her lithe form forward and like a missile she flew at the snarling hungry wolf. The impact was hard and sudden, but her teeth met their mark and clamped hard and secure around the scruff of the beast’s neck. With momentum on her side, Maki rolled herself and the one she knew as Aurora end over end until she landed on all fours with malicious amber eyes glaring up from beneath her. Her own lips curled and her fangs shimmered in the pale moonlight as she snapped a forceful bite just to the left of Aurora’s throat. Leveraging the limp, damaged prosthetic replacing his left paw, Maki grappled him once more with her dexterous beastly hands and rolled him on his left side, pinning him by his rib cage with all her force driven into a single leg. Aurora writhed and yelped underneath her, left arm attempting to dig into the dirt with no avail and right claws swiping up at her shoulder and chest. But he was not Maki’s first vicious pup. She shifted her weight while maintaining as much of a downward push with her paw as possible, moving her body away from Aurora’s flailing, desperate strikes.
Yield. I know you don’t want this fight.
Just let her run.
Please.
A low rumbling growl rolled out from Maki’s throat before she lunged forward, paw still pressed firmly on Aurora’s rib cage. Mindful not to sink her teeth too deep, she clamped her jaws around the upper half of Aurora’s thick muzzle with a firm, even pressure.  Aurora’s head locked in place, Maki took the opportunity to flick her eyes up to the lone young tree at the edge of the clearing.
Sorochi was gone, the only trace of her presence the glistening blood splattered across the waving grass.
There was still time.

Seaview
I paint a fair bit from imagination. I also use my own reference photos. Sometimes, I paint from photos I come across on the Internet (and give them credit, of course). The painting below comes from my imagination, and I called it, “Seaview.’ Materials used: Baohong The Master’s Choice Artist Rough texture, Block Watercolour Paper Daniel Smith, and Winsor & Newton Watercolour paint Neef…

Experimental Landscapes - Winter's Tree
Tumblr media
Somewhere around 2010-2014, I started painting over reclaimed canvases from abandoned commissions... they ranged in size from 3" x 5" to 36" x 48"... at that time I was in love with painting by the Wyeth clan (Andrew & N.C.). I was trying to figure how they connected (aesthetically) to The Group of Seven stylings and how they were able to create so much depth of detail, while remaining true to a post-impressionistic feel. Basically, I loved the dusty and foggy feel of the work... the way light shines out of the canvases.
I concluded I didn't have as much patience as Andrew Wyeth must have had to build up his work, even if I was diluting my paints in glazes and applying over a hundred layers, or allowing watered down paint drip down the canvas for added effect...
Note: I must apologize here for the cropping of the photos... I had not discovered better framing techniques yet... as a result, you don't see that the paintings actually continued into the sides of the canvas. Oh well... live and learn.
Final note: Most of these were given away to friends and family... the rest have already been painted over with new experiments.
