Sometimes the point of a story is to be very realistic in its portrayals of people and/or the world it is set in.
Other times, the point of a story is to be a power fantasy, or a nice black & white escapist fantasy, or a horny fantasy, or all sorts of other fantasies that provide people with a fun and cathartic break from reality and all its gray areas and unfortunate truths and overwhelming systemic power structures that leave us feeling helpless against faceless enemies we don't always know how to fight.
Sometimes, "this story is unrealistic," is the point.
Seek realism when it serves the story. Throw "realism" out the window when something else will serve your story better.

raaah i hate reading what seems to be a really interesting researchh study in a different country and it ends up just being: here's what they do and why what we do in the u.s. is always good and their way is bad like. i think there can be more than one way to do things and that's okay
#reading a paper on how music is used in japanese preschools and nurseries and it's really interesting!#bc there's more emphasis on music in early childhood programs (ex: ece students required to take multiple music courses in uni)#the main difference is an emphasis on learning a variety of songs and singing w/ a group or accompaniment#whereas in the us there's more emphasis on creativity and exploration (read: teachers don't tend to be as involved w/ music)#my frustration with this study is that the author is using actual data when they talk about japanese classrooms#but vast overgeneralizations w/ no similar data to base those on when talking abt us classrooms#sure. in theory there's more freedom in music creation in us preschools but it comes at the cost of less exposure to music in the classroom#idk this study is almost 20 yrs old. i don't care. whatever#there have been many changes to approaches in ece in the us since then and i'm sure the same is true in japan. i dont care.#it was still an interesting read. whatever. the unaddressed biases in this paper don't affect me and i don't care

MY NICHE
#looking at some classmate i know irls youtube channel and im like Ohh he animates too. we cant b having that. and im like why i do i care#why do i have to be better than him..#i mean obviously i guess i just assume that im better than most other people i know in real life#(see; that one paragraph about transsexuals being far more creative and intelligent than the average person)#but also i think i have like some weird complex. and i realize that acting like char aznable is not (?) a good thing to do#everyone likes char until someone acts like him#bugever...#i think its mostly because i grew creative bedrock in a low competitive stakes area.. either drawing comics in tha classroom or scratch#its my niche#its MY NICHE and i plan to do everything possible within it#side mission

"You know...you really need to stop doing this."
"If you let it leak the water bill will be horrendous. Trust me, I know."
Conversations like this had recently become the norm for them ever since villain found out about their secret identity.
Hero remembered the day vividly. Villain had just appeared out of nowhere, looked them over, mumbled "school teacher, huh?" and proceeded to walk away without a fight.
Now villain just kept showing up at hero's house and hero's classroom with homeowners tools. They would always begin the visit with a "Door's a bit loose" or "windows sticking again...can't be good for the kids."
Whenever hero inquired about this new interaction they would get the same response..."Not like you can afford it on a teachers salary anyway.”

oh my god. that one "oc" we wrote who had DID that we came up with before our syscovery. that was not an oc. oh my god cody and blake why did you take five years to make yourselves known to us-
#AND WHY DID YOU GET FRONT TRIGGERED BY A RANT REVIEW OF A MOVIE BASED ON A PSEUDO-ROMCOM BOOK???#question not necessarily directed at them but the structure of our system as a whole#we've been doing a lot of discovering of headmates who were FOR SURE around before our proper syscovery#most of whom we. conceptualized as paracosm characters i guess to cope?? and mask without knowing??#which is probably why our paracosm is inseparable from our system they are one and the same#but like. i mean we found the whole valley full of elder scrolls introjects (there were 11 of them. at once)#who at least with Aerina and Serana they both were around when we were 14 at the very least#bc aerina holds a shocking amount of memories of high school that we thought we'd just Lost Forever#like. she actually remembers what our classrooms looked like#we know that the Sides (like. of the sanders variety) that we made for ourselves. like our own Sides#most of them became true headmates but we're not sure about the rest... but they're probably here#Cecil and Cherry (intrusive thoughts and creativity) were some of our very first known members#cecil was the first actually. but we know he wasn't the first to form bc Sheo hiding his presence ANNOUNCED cecil to ruby the host from then#and like. we created our own versions of sides for every one that was in the actual series#but then There Were More. like 6 or 7 who wouldn't ever have been included in the series#and we were like 'we dunno why they're here BUT they're supposed to be OUR sides so of course there's differences!' and then.#and one of those was Aura who was our side that represented autism#we also had Ryker (anger issues) Oakley (obsession/hyperfocus) Aiden (adhd) and one that represented faith (like. spiritual and stuff)#don't remember the faith one's name it was something obscure#and seeing as like. 5 years after our syscovery we actually discovered Analise (our Logic side) in the sys#we probably have All Of Them somewhere#so like. cody and blake were from the first character we ever wrote who had DID#similar to our first trans character. writing it as if im someone on the outside when really we were just an egg carton#we didn't write Much of him but we put much work into making him like. not fulfill bad stereotypes#he was still kind of stereotypical but we were 15 and an egg carton#but like. we haven't thought abt him or his story like. Since Then#so. very odd that they both show up here and right now-#cody was supposed to be the host and blake was the only alter we actually came up with before abandoning that story like most we wrote#there were absolutely going to be more but. we never got to that point in the story#mostly bc something we were co-writing with someone else fell apart so we just started All of our projects over from scratch

Doc with today's educational environment, how long would you last as a college professor?
Ah, you must have been in the Piranesi book club, where I talked about how I was a failed Lit professor and honestly I feel like that was the best thing that ever happened to me.
You know, I am a particular sort of person, and one of those things that I think made me who i am is that for a number of years I, I guess I'll say, "worked without a net." And so, you know, when i left academia I had no fucking clue what I was going to do with the rest of my life. My peers who were continuing on to the graduate level were like, "I mean, I think I'm going to be miserable too, but if I just stop with a bachelor's, I'm not going to be able to get a job, or worse, I'll only be able to get a job that a high school graduate could get and that will make my degree worthless. What are you going to do?" and my response was essentially, "I don't know! Not this! Tend bar for awhile, maybe." But I didn't consider my education a waste (I DO consider the degree a waste. Who the fuck cares? I wish i could have gotten the knowledge cheaper without a degree. My degree has only ever been proof that I had good enough credit to make it through the system. I know a ton of fucking idiots with degrees, and intelligent people without them.)
Anyway, I am very interested in talking about books, and I love helping people get better and looking for what lies beneath the text and engaging with it, and learning about lenses, and stuff like that. I adore the teaching aspect of teaching. But I am not interested in strip mining a classic novel while invoking the dark sainthood of the critical schools of thought, praying for the absolution of a tenure that will never come. I am not interested in the auto-da-fé of student evaluations and peer review, coming year after year while wizened old men weigh the annoyance of me versus my diversity credentials versus how low they can keep my salary. I am not interested in engaging with the thousand tiny cuts of nineteen year olds telling me all the reasons they can't do something. I am not interested having to pan every single essay paper like its a mountain stream in 1849, only to find myself wondering if this is ChatGPT or the student really did turn in the literary equivalent of overcooked chicken breast, because they don't want to be here, they don't want to learn, and they would be happier getting a stamp saying, "My parents have access to forty thousand dollars, you may hire me."
I wouldn't last because you could offer me a position teaching courses *I* came up, and i would not take it. I would not teach Literature of the American West, because I do not want to teach in a formal setting, literally ever. I would not get beyond the offer email. If I wrote the next Great American Novel, and fuckin...Harvard, i guess, was like, "hey do you want to teach a class here?" No. I said, "You can't fire me, i quit," fifteen years ago, and I stand by it.
#It helps that literally ever arts/communication/etc major I know who went into academia is miserable#and I am very happy!#genuinely I would love a classroom where everyone is engaged and wants to learn#I adored teaching creative writing for the 13-17 set

🌟 Embracing the Magic: The Heart of Childcare Renovation and Interior Design 🌈
In the captivating world of childcare centers, we create enchanting spaces that nurture young minds. ✨ Childcare renovation and interior design go beyond aesthetics – they embrace a thoughtful approach to cater to children, parents, and staff alike. Let's explore the key aspects that make childcare renovation a specialized art in the interior design industry. 🎨
Putting Children First: 🧒👧
Child-centric designs take center stage in childcare centers. With vibrant colors, playful patterns, and interactive elements, we kindle children's imagination and creativity. 🎨🌈 Age-appropriate furniture, safe play zones, and easy navigation cater to the varying needs of children at different stages of development. 🪁️
Balancing Safety and Style: 🛡️💫
Safety is paramount when renovating childcare spaces. We comply with strict safety regulations without sacrificing aesthetics. Non-toxic materials, rounded edges, and secure fixtures create a nurturing environment where kids can explore fearlessly. 🧸🌿
Inviting Spaces for Parents: 👨👩👦🏠
Childcare centers aren't just for kids – they need to welcome parents too. Thoughtful waiting areas, cozy corners, and observation spaces assure parents that their little ones are well taken care of. Fostering trust and strong parent-child-caregiver relationships is key. ❤️🏠
Maximizing Functionality: 📏🧩
Efficient space usage is crucial in childcare centers. We know how to optimize floor plans, storage, and traffic flow for seamless daily operations. Smart spatial planning ensures every inch serves a purpose. 🏢🔄
Emphasizing Play and Learning: 🎲📚
Childhood is all about exploring and discovering. Childcare renovation incorporates dedicated learning and play areas. These corners encourage curiosity and physical development while fostering social interaction. 🤹♀️🧠
Embrace the magic of childcare renovation and interior design, where creativity, practicality, and safety come together to shape nurturing havens for the future generation. 🏆🌟

In the age of digital devices, getting some of my students to get creative and do some art with me is such a blast! They spent way to much time online and on their Chromebooks so today we got out some construction sheets and went to town! Me and two boys in my class created a caste With dragons and a cheetah and flying snakes. It was so much fun and they really enjoyed jsut coming up stuff on the spot! We got covered in marker but it was all part of the fun!
