Made a Walfas that can represent me till' I get a better animation sw to replace macromedia flash

I want to get back on YT but I switched away from Windows and macromedia's Flash. So I needed to find an alternative similar to Flash but open source for macOS and Linux (for working on both systems). In the meantime I decided to use this placeholder Walfas I made in create.swf. (Thanks Walfie :D)

I will try to find a good solution in the meantime but if I end up making yt videos someday and I happen to show up as this character, now you know why.

Seeing my old works on where you keep your fan-art (I sent stuff under DelraLionV2 for reference), man, that cringe feeling of "I made that" really kicking in for some of it, a fair amount not even relating to you specifically, but the forum stuff at the time.

That said, I do miss messing with Walfas/create.swf, much as it limited by set pieces because it was mainly a Touhou-based thing thus the character parts came from those characters, but you couldn't change colours for them, only character colour hair, so you had to get creative with making characters unless you had proper image editing software to get what you want.

It can be fun to mess with things like that sometimes.

Touhou Project!

Touhou Project started long ago in the 90s when college student ZUN wanted to create OSTs for video games, didn't know anyone who was developing any, and decided to learn all the programming skills necessary to create his own games. And thus, a global phenomena that has its fingers all over Eastern and Western Internet culture was born, still going strong with an active fandom and new releases decades later. The story within the games - and later its literature and CD installments - takes place within the pocket dimension of Gensokyo, where magic still exists and endangered species of youkai live freely. Also within Gensokyo is a small population of humans necessary for maintaining the existence of fantastical elements through their belief, fear, and faith, with the Hakurei shrine maiden protecting them and maintaining the balance of power in the land by beating the shit out of anyone that decides to volunteer to fulfill the seasonal conflict quota. Reimu Hakurei is the current sole Hakurei shrine maiden, but the runaway human magician Marisa Kirisame is also a common hero of Touhou stories alongside her. Their story usually plays out in rounds of "danmaku" battles - aka a bunch of lights are on the screen and you have to dodge them all for an hour straight to get the good ending and if you get hit once you have to start over from the beginning. Occasionally the "bullet hell" games are broken up by fighting game spin-offs, where ZUN teams up with Touhou fangame devs Twilight Frontier and fan music artists from the community; and one time the spin-off was a platformer. And if you're not a gamer, there's also the manga stories and the music CDs that include their own short stories. And if you can't get enough of Touhou but have run out of canon - fear not! ZUN has been so friendly to fan creators that he could literally retire and Touhou Project's fandom would still run strong with how many fangames, fanfics, fan music, and even fan-produced anime are out there, to the point some of these creations have their own sub-fandoms full of people that have never touched a canon Touhou work in their life!

In fact, allow me to go on a rant for a minute: You have already been exposed to Touhou Project. Every person who isn't a recluse and never touched a device in their life has been exposed to Touhou Project at least once in your life. It doesn't matter where you're from, your demographics, whether you actually like anime or video games, what online communities you're in - Touhou has been there. If you have ever done a Google image search with any combination of "X anime girl art", you have spotted a Touhou fanart (as Elon Musk discovered when he accidentally tweeted a picture of werewolf Kagerou Imaizumi calling her a cat girl). If you have ever been in a virtual space where people are using 3d anime avatars or using 2d anime pfps, you've seen a Touhou character at least once. If you've been to anime, video game, or multifandom conventions, you've seen a Touhou cosplayer. If you've played Genshin Impact, League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Undertale, Skullgirls, Path of Exile, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Yandere Simulator (non-exhaustive list), you've encountered Touhou easter eggs. If you've played any Eastern rhythm game, there's been a Touhou fansong in its roster. If you watched Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Asobi Asobase, Craig of the Creek, Spooky Month, and Umineko (non-exhaustive list), you've seen a Touhou easter egg. Touhou has appeared on CNN, ESPN, and My Strange Addiction. Scott Pilgrim comic? Yes, it's there, too. If you're into online meme culture, you have been graced with Touhou: Bad Apple, Yukkuris, McRoll / Ran Ran Ru, Marisa Stole the Precious Thing, Japanese Goblin, "wen day is dark, alway rember happy day". WALFAS / create.swf and fumo plushies? Spawned from Touhou fandom. I was watching a Genshin .EXE meme video and what do I suddenly hear being played? TOHO EUROBEAT. I've been going insane for the last half hour searching the web because I swear there's a tumblr shitposter with manga Sakuya Izayoi as their pfp who shows up on my dash reblogged by my mutuals that don't post Touhou and on reposts to Reddit and I can't fucking remember their name, altho I found out some other popular users like toskarin and prokopetz reference Touhou sometimes, but I swear, you gotta believe me, even non-Touhou tumblr isn't safe from Touhou! It's everywhere! Once you know it, you'll never unsee it!!!

Anyway, more reasons to join the Touhou fandom: all the yuri possibilities, trans Prince Shotoku, the Christianity fangames that turned Jesus into an anime girl.

I shall conclude with footnotes on my vague recc, in case people were curious which characters were being referenced: Junko is canonically a mother, Shinki and Alice in the 9C-98 era were mother & daughter, and Eirin and the Watatsuki sisters are in-laws. With how chill most Touhou conflicts are, "enemies" is a bit of a stretch, but Junko genuinely hates the Lunarians, fandom sees Kaguya & Mokou having a hate thing but honestly Mokou got over it kinda fast canonically, Soga no Tojiko literally got killed because of Mononobe no Futo and became a vengeful spirit but honestly got over that real fast too, Mima is kinda a mortal enemy for the Hakurei shrine but I think that softened by the end of the PC-98 era, Mizuchi Miyadeguchi last time I checked genuinely hated the Hakurei shrine to the point of endangering lives, and Seija was public enemy #1 as the premise for a game. "Girls crushing" had Hisami Yomotsu in mind and "girls transitioning" had Toyosatomimi no Miko in mind. There's lots of violence and crime in Touhou but Marisa stealing books was specifically in mind for the latter. The murdering is Reimu killing a dude in one of the manga. Handsome & tomboy had Miko and Fujiwara no Mokou in mind. "Freaky girls" example is Chiyari Tenkajin. "Girls that'll treat you right" can mean multiple people but I specifically remembered Sanae Kochiya, "girls that'll ruin your life" can also mean many characters but Seija Kijin is a good example. "Science girls" is specifically Rikako Asakura, some others fit if you squint. "Girlbosses" was not intended to be a pun on a majority of the cast being "stage bosses", but I realized that works. "Gaslighters" is a reference to some of the sneaky characters, like Seija Kijin. "Gatekeepers" example is Hong Meiling, who literally guards a gate. A "girlfailures" example is Shion Yorigami. "Girls who are the law" was mainly Eiki Shiki but could also be Reimu ngl. "Capitalists" is the plot of Unconnected Marketeers, "revolutionaries" is Seija again, "mob bosses" is the trinity of Yachie Kicchou, Saki Kurokoma, and Yuuma Toutetsu, and "high schoolers" is mainly Sumireko Usami, her descendant Renko Usami, and Renko's best friend Maribel Hearn. "The one guy" is Rinnosuke Morichika who mainly appears in the manga where he doesn't have any romances with anyone and "the turtle" is the elderly turtle Genjii from the PC-98 era. There are technically other candidates for "male characters", but most of them are unnamed, only showed up once, and / or literally have their entire gender up in the air.

Unus Annus in Walfas

The livestream made me resurrect my Walfas phase to make this after remembering that it has a white suit option. There's even a spiral background! Gonna miss this site when flash dies, as well as miss this channel when the clock is finished.

Last night I had a dream which was kinda rambly, which possibly had something to do with the fact that I slept for 13 hours (@thebardsrc: "That's a bit!" me: "Sleeping for like 13 hours, as a bit."). Anyway, here's the stuff I remember:

A volcano was erupting. Some camera drones were flying up to it, just to keep track of everything and document it and stuff, and kept getting destroyed. There might have been a Futurama "To shreds, you say" bit.

A Sonic the Hedgehog RP which I was doing in create.swf apparently. At first I was typing stuff into speech balloons as if they were whole paragraphs from a purely text-based thing (that is, a speech balloon pointed at Sonic which said: '"Yeah," says Sonic, "but I think we"' etc.), but then dreaming-me remembered that these were in fact speech balloons and I could just put dialogue and specify actions by moving my character around.

Jonathan Harker was ... somewhere. Could've been either of the above.

Rei’sen meets the KKHTA version of herself.

I’m surprised that Rei’sen still manages to (occasionally) look adorable in KKHTA, despite KKHTA turning her into a homicidal moon rabbit that is somehow badass enough to murder Yukari with a rifle that looks even more weird than the rifles from SSiB. Neither of the rifles in KKHTA or SSiB have a stock you can actually rest on your shoulder, for example.

I tried to recreate the nameless Lunar Defense Corps rabbits (AKA the Moon Rabbit Mob) from SSiB in Walfas. Walfas doesn’t have these rabbits available as presets nor the exact hair styles for them, so I had to reuse and recolor hairstyles from other touhou characters to get something that vaguely looks like their hair.

Walfas also doesn’t have the weird stockless bolt-action rifles that the Lunar Defense Corps uses, so I had to make do with the AK-47 prop Walfas has.

At 2am with a friend I opened create.swf and created a lil walfas OC, I decided to turn her into a full Touhou OC. Her name is Lydia, she is an angel of light!

Spoiler Alert: It was never made in Create swf all along because when I tried to import the models into Create swf, it didn't work. So I had to made this entirely in Paint Net instead. You may already know because I did the face details and some features that cannot be done in Create swf.
