The women in my family have never been able to keep quiet whenever they see something is wrong. Publicly or privately, I was taught to stand up for the right thing. • So, if you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I often go to #WashingtonDC to advocate on behalf of patients to Congress. The why is very easy. I’m a patient and someone spoke up for me, when I couldn’t speak for myself. Someone made sure that research and development on chronic diseases had a proper budget. That healthcare legislation that included patients with pre existing conditions was passed. That pediatric patient stories were heard. Now it’s my turn to do my part. So I’m heading back to D.C. once again to do what needs to be done. • I’ll be joined my partner in crime, @about_ibd .
