Okay can anyone explain the “false hotel registration” thing to me? Does it mean they registered under a false name? So Paul registered under a false name so he could go fuck a girl in his room without getting in trouble with the press? I'm confused. Didn't they bring girls to their rooms all the time without getting in trouble? It doesn't make sense. Why did he feel the need to register under a different name?

The whole “Yesterday” thing is crazy. Like, what a feat, first of all. I think we forget how unbelievably successful the song was.

Second of all, I know John's reaction was childish and mean, but his feelings were valid if you just look at the treatment and reception of “Ticket to Ride”  (John's dead mum song). Like objectively yesterday is a better song, but still.

Oh, John. Poor thing. 

If “Girl” is secretly about Paul . . . yeesh. It's so obsessive and adoring and simultaneously so disappointed and disparaging. John always has such impossible standards for Paul. “She promises the earth to me and I believe her, after all this time I don't know why.” Um… maybe because he literally did give you the world? At so many points I find myself asking, “what more could Paul possibly have given John?”

People always take this quote as a sexuality thing, but couldn't it also be a conscience thing? Revulsion at taking advantage of the fact that all these women are fans? At the scale of his infidelity? I don't know, am I giving him too much credit?

The thing about Paul, John – and though it drives you insane, it's a big factor in why you love him -- is he's not going to be bullied into anything. If he decides to take LSD it's going to be on his own terms. And I know you think it'll bring you two closer, and you're right, but peer pressure just doesn't work on him. There's no point. You know that.

I LOVE Paul and the Indica. Designing the wrapping paper in secret up in his little attic room, covering over the shop windows so he can do his handyman work building shelves and painting in peace. It's Linda's Paul pre Linda, you know?

John is so good at PR as in making something sound as beautiful and important and powerful as possible. Which is something Paul absolutely relied on John to do and clearly could not do on his own after the break up. Look how John makes them almost into prophets here.

"I really wanted to live in London but I wouldn't risk it." Another thing to make John envious of Paul and resentful of Cynthia. I really wish those two had just never got married. 

“I don't object to people having a lot of money, I never did. But I do object to people being stony broke and starving.” RIP John, you would've loved the American “left” of today. But you can't have the former without the latter, sorry.

This picture always gets me. It's ridiculous. Pattie and George. Mo and Ringo. John and Paul. With Cynthia awkwardly by herself. It's funny. It's adorable. It's crushing. And with that quote? It's impossible.

I think Tara Browne is overlooked. Paul brought him home for Christmas. That's a big deal. And John hated him enough to laugh when he read about his death. That's also a big deal. Paul and his messed up social climbing obsession. I do think it's worth pointing out, though, the difference between Paul’s LSD trip with Tara and his trip with John. More on that later.

I really do think they were all staunchly anti-racist for their time, you know, besides John's racist jokes and drawings… but Paul particularly. And I have to wonder where that came from. Did he have empathy for people being judged on appearance and background? Was it partially due to his idolization of black artists? Did Little Richard maybe say something to him about racism in America? Anyone have any thoughts?

Okay and I have to share my hot take on the whole Jesus scandal. It's this: the American right doesn't actually care about Jesus. They care about protecting their hegemony. They didn't like that the Beatles were openly and stubbornly integrationist. They didn't like Paul's comment about their inhumane racism. But they couldn't openly counter that without showing their hand. So they used the Jesus comment as an excuse. If they play the religious persecution card, they get to paint themselves as the victims and therefore the good guys while they take down anyone who challenges the status quo that keeps them in money and power (aka the Beatles). 

Maybe I should've had a “poor baby” tally because the number of times I've said that about John in these comments has got to be tally-worthy. I would've driven around in a gorilla suit with you, honey!

It is actually amazing that there hasn't been more speculation on Paul's sexuality with all these serious boyfriends. 

Paul tells a story about a time he flew a plane, and how much better he liked it than being a passenger. First off. Imagine being a pilot and just being like “oh, you've never touched a joystick in your life, but you're Paul McCartney? Sure, go ahead. Fly the plane.” But also. His control issues and his confidence are both off unreal. No one in their right mind would feel more safe flying a plane – as someone with a complete lack of experience – than when a licensed pilot is flying it. 

Okay I literally JUST learned that Here There and Everywhere says, “how good it can be” not could. Can. And it's one of those in my "for sure this was about John" folder. Okay then. Wow.

The thing is they really did compliment each other's songs a lot more than modern Paul makes it seem like. So I wonder what it was about the “Here There and Everywhere” compliment that made it so special to Paul?

Writing Villains (Underrated Tips)

1. Variety

Not all villains have to be the next Darth Vader, Luke Castellan, John Wick, etc. Your villain’s arc doesn’t have to originate from the Big Traumatic Thing that happened when they were X Years Old. Here are some characterization ideas that still keep them interesting (no tragic backstory required):

misguided villain. They don’t think what they do is that evil/they think they are benefiting others (e.g. Thanos from the MCU)

IDGAF villain. They just don’t care about the disaster they leave behind them (e.g. Ozai from ATLA)

past bystander villain. Nothing bad happened to THEM particularly-- they just saw bad things happen to other people, and decided that they need to correct society (e.g. Light Yagami from Death Note)

I was bored villain. They were bored. And millions died for it. They’re probably also an ENTP. Oh, well (e.g. Ryuk from Death Note)

zealous villain. They do it for their cause--god, cult, organization, whatever--there’s a greater power that is their greater purpose (e.g. Cthulu cultists from Call of Cthulu)

staunch traditionalist (often allegorically racist) villain. They want to act according to, and preserve the statusquo (tends to be heritage, race, class, personality, etc.), and believe that any change is bad (e.g. Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter)

These are just some examples of interesting villain characterizations that absolutely do NOT need a tragic backstory to function.

2. Spill the tea

Show how they treat the people closest to them.

Instead of just focusing on their actions, create moments where readers can see them interacting with their family, friends, etc. This is a powerful tool with the potential to humanize them in a softer way, or make them seem even more scary, merciless, corrupt, secretive, etc.

For example, the audience doesn’t just see Azula from ATLA fight people and conquer cities with a crazy amount of skill and power. The writers show how she interacts with her two best friends; the way she shamelessly belittles them to their faces, manipulates them as pawns, and has no problem putting them in incredible danger reveals a LOT more about her character in a way that only showing her actions cannot.

3. Polarize

Consistency isn’t always key. Sure, the cold and calculating overlord should generally make cold and calculating decisions, but to spice things up, find the thing that will make them snap. Change. Show weakness. Become their opposite, if only for a moment.

Silco is a drug kingpin in an underbelly city that is full of gangs, criminals, murderers, thieves, and the sort (you get it).

He not only survives--he THRIVES in that kind of environment as one of the scariest authorial figures. He himself had to experience crazy backstabbing, and grew to be nothing but calculated, manipulative, and ruthless...until he unofficially adopted a daughter! He realized that she had “undone” him to the point where he refused to give her up for a dream he would have been willing to die for.

It DOES sound pretty inconsistent for the ruthless drug kingpin to sacrifice EVERYTHING he’d worked for to clean up after an insane daughter who runs around making murderous messes that attract flocks of authorities. And, it is. Like he says himself, he loses “nothing but problems.”

But, real humans are almost never 100% consistent, and this sort of polarity will humanize your villains without necessarily requiring a tragic backstory or a noble motivation.

Who each of the Community cast is voting for in the 2024 election.

Pierce, (if he was still alive) you’d think obvious Trumper. And while he holds many of the same values and agrees with a lot of Trump’s policies. He likes money more and the Trump administration is not good for the LGBTQ+ community. Which if you remember are the main consumers of Hawthorne Wipes.

And Pierce and Trump were actually friends in the 80s, they’d do ❄️ together all the time. But they had some kind of falling out ( no one knows for sure what happened, but there is speculation, Pierce wanted to cameo on the Apprentice and Trump didn’t let him.) So out of pettiness Pierce votes for Kamala.

Shirley, you’d think another obvious Trump voter, and I think in 2016 and 2020 she voted red. But I think after one of her boys comes out she re-evaluates maybe deconstructs a little and votes for Kamala. Plus she is creeped out by J.D. Vance. And because of Trump’s racism.

Annie, Kamala obviously, she is terrified about Project 2025 (she read and annotated the whole thing) Especially the parts about dismantling NOAA and the department of education. And as a Jewish girl, the blatant push for a Christian theocracy scares her. I believe she is heavily involved in politics and actively campaigns for Harris-Walz, and she carefully watches each debate.

Abed, Abed is fascinated by Donald Trump, Abed loves T.V. And Trump is basically a living-breathing T.V. Character, he follows politics just as much as Annie, but he is much quieter about it. He doesn’t campaign only observes. Even though. When he does bring up Trump he won’t stop referring to him as Emperor Palpatine, from Star Wars, and through that lens he is able to recognize the harm Trump will do if elected.

Troy, he doesn’t really follow politics. Ultimately he votes for Kamala cause that’s what Abed is doing. Also Trump’s obvious Racism.

Britta, one of those fake progressives, Who is loudly outspoken about the fact that she is not voting, because the whole election is rigged anyway (not in a Maga way). And “both sides are equally bad.” She is heavily involved in politics like Annie, but does not put in the same leg work to inform herself on the issues, so is often publicly embarrassed. (Don’t take this as a dislike of the character, love Britta, but she is very performative in her activism and I want to be true to her character.) Being loudly wrong is kinda Britta summarized.

Jeff, I think Jeff barely follows politics. He follows it only as a way to try to make himself seem sophisticated. So like Britta he has a tendency to get things wrong. But unlike Britta he can usually talk his way out of humiliation. He is evasive when you ask him who he is voting for and his answer changes depending on who he is talking to.

I think what really tipped the scales is when he finds out that Project 2025 would ban p*rn. (Same with Troy) Jeff also relates to Harris on a Lawyer to Lawyer level.

Also he will vehemently deny this, but seeing Walt on T.V. Brings up his not so hidden Daddy issues.

The Dean, Kamala no question, Trump’s anti-lgbtq+ agenda sees to that.

Chang, the wild card, I think he wasn’t going to vote, and never has before. Chang starts going to Maga rallies, because he sees how gullible the hard core Trumpers are and he wants to scam them.

He goes full method, paints his face orange, wears one of those weird diapers and a Tampon (he stole from one of the girls) Over his ear. He even carries around one of the J.D. Vance Jizz cups.

He doesn’t have much luck cause most Maga ignore him or are openly racist. But he soon starts to get really into it. And what started as a scam becomes genuine. He goes completely Maga.

You can’t tell me Chang isn’t crazy enough that people being openly hostile towards him wouldn’t work like negging. Plus Trump’s insanity and dictatorial posturing would absolutely appeal to Chang.

He would be really hard-core Maga for a few weeks before and after the election, but eventually the next crazy scheme would catch his attention.

Thank you, yeah seeing this rampant and often patronizing misinformation is frustrating. The fact that it is said with such conviction is so shameless. I wanted to have a place where all contemporary feminist ideological verification information could be accessed so the reader could get a better understanding of who is attacking these women/feminism and why. I’m not arrogant enough to claim I understand everything just from reading and watching the evolution of this movement since around 2016, this is like absolutely nothing compared to actual residents obviously, and there is of course a salient conversation to be had regarding bigotry like trans/homophobia and racism within the movement but, especially for everything posted here, this is clearly not the reason these misogynist men attack women. We can literally see their thought process in real time for a lot of these cases. They see anything that resembles 🤏 (this part doesn’t even need to happen in some cases, simply the fact that a Korean woman worked on a product is enough like with the Genshin Impact character designer) ➡️ they look for any woman working for the company that makes this product ➡️ whether she has produced the “offending” content doesn’t matter, they target her and trawl through her social media (including private/deleted/old posts) looking for any mention of women’s rights ➡️ no matter how innocuous the post (campaigning for equal pay and enjoying the women’s day google doodle in the case of the Arknights artist) they throw a shitfit and claim this is misandry ➡️ most often the company will grovel, delete the “offending” content and write a simpering apology to their fanbase that frequently will specifically name feminism itself (and not any sort of bigotry) as some dividing force. The incels engaging in this behavior do it because they hate women. They are a group who are violently misogynistic, racist, ableist, homophobic, transphobic, you name it. But instead of being censored, ideologically verified and referred to as a “dividing force” of the South Korean population, they are instead given rapt attention by businesses and have their whims catered to while the women they target lose their jobs, have the “feminist stigma” attached to them while looking for work, are often stalked and harassed and blamed for their own misfortune caused by others. We see this play out pretty much every time and yet there are always people on the western web posting things like “feminists are crazy over there vellmori was fired because she was in the feminist cult, this is normal since feminism is terrorism in Korea” because they read a twitter post or scrolled through namuwiki or whatever. People want to believe this so they do and make it their truth. In their minds these women deserve it. This is to say nothing of the condescension in believing you know the full story of a movement from half-remembering secondhand information or watching a video essay. AHHHH I KEEP LOSING MY FUCKING POST FOR THIS.

ANYWAY. Show choir is fucking racist on a lot of levels. Like, very. Of course, there are exceptions (there was a show choir I saw once that was mostly black) but for the most part, show choir is racist (and also discriminatory against overweight people AND height discriminatory)

You see, young Strawberry, show choir is all about image. Think of it like being a Rockette. They have to have the same hair (if your show requires long hair and you have short hair, you have to get extensions), same makeup (you have to buy the SAME exact eyeshadow palette) and everything else basically has to be the exact same. And this is where the racism part comes in.

If you do not meet their standards (not the correct height, not the correct weight and not the correct skin color (I.E white) you will most likely not get in no matter how good you are.

This is mostly the standard for show choir royalty (show choirs that have won a lot of awards and competitions) my show choir isn’t like this and a lot of show choirs aren’t like this, but there’s definitely a reason as to why I don’t see many people of color in show choirs.

There’s also a money problem, a lot of show choirs cost about 1000 dollars to participate (kinda crazy). I have a seperate post about all this shit but yeah. A little wacky.

ONTO WHY TEACHERS HAVING FAVORITES IS BAD. This mostly goes for the creative fields in school (choir, theatre, band, orchestra, etc) but teachers have favorites depending on how good a person is, not how much they try. A lot of the people on my choir (not just show choir, I’m in a lot of choirs so this goes for all) are bitches. They’re mean and nasty. But they’re really good at what they do. So they get solos, duets, whatever (AND ITS THE SAME PEOPLE EVERY TIME) And despite me trying really hard (and also being good at singing) I don’t really get anything in return. Not to sound bitter I guess but it’s super disheartening to look up to someone and realize they look past you and don’t notice how hard you try, and then sometimes they DO and just don’t give any shots and that hurts.

I try not to let it get to me, but it’s hard sometimes. And this goes for regular teaching too. You know that “You’re student is a joy to have in class” meme? That’s code for “You’re student doesn’t talk and doesn’t make an impact”. A lot of the annoying, eccentric, attention whore students are ALWAYS the favorites and actual good students get left in the dust and that sucks a lot of the time. It’s disheartening and makes these students feel terrible about themselves.

NOW ONTO TEACHERS ABUSING THEIR FUCKING POWER. So, my senior year has been an absolute shit show, you know why? It’s because my teachers and mentors have been abusing their power.

So alright, context, this story is kind of crazy? And I might have forgotten some important details but anyway.

So, I know I’m a very good actor and pretty good singer (my actings better than my singing). And I’m also a senior. This year, I got ensemble for our musical. Despite the fact that for the past years I’ve gotten a lead in every play and musical before that. The people who got the leads are my friends, I was proud of them, but they were all sophmores and juniors. WHICH WAS CRAZY! Almost all the seniors got ensemble, which is pretty insane. It’s our last fucking year, they can have their moment AFTER we fucking leave. But of course, our director did not care. He called me (and everyone else who quit) pathetic. Ok, then. Director. How would you like it if we absolutely decimated your musical? So basically, long story short, I accidentally started a theatre revolution. I was the first one who quit because I didn’t get a good role (NOT BECAUSE I WAS SOUR GRAPES! But because I got cheated out a role, and a lot of people (even the underclassmen who got roles) agreed with me on that) and then a lot of other people also quit because they ALSO got cheated out of a role. This caused my director to put out three separate cast lists. Which was HILARIOUS to watch in real time. He got so pissed that everyone was quitting that he punched a cabinet in front of a bunch of freshman. And so, because everyone quit, the musical didn’t happen. THIS ALSO GOES IN TANDEM WITH MY CHOIR TEACHER. Omg she was also so pissed but very passive aggressive about it. I was talking about Legally Blonde once and my choir teacher pops in to tell us “Well we COULD’VE had a good musical if ALL THOSE PEOPLE didn’t quit” and it’s like, girl you were not in our conversation and our convo about how good of a musical Legally Blonde is has NOTHING to do with your shitty musical.

NOT TO MENTION. Our director KNEW EXACTLY what shows we wanted to do, and yet we didn’t do them. Like, what? He chose a stupid fucking musical nobody has heard about and a stupid fucking play nobody has heard about. Like, what? HUH?

Anyway, thats the story of how I destroyed our musical and also how much I hate my choir director and theatre director and how absolutely STUPID teachers can be. I haven’t even gone into detail about how stupid my choir teacher is (Omg, everyone is quitting everything because SHES A PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE BITCH) I hate her so much too.

i am fairly new to your blog and understand the anti ts stuff and i just wanted to say that even with all the racism (i only know the recent stuff and im appalled, who knows what has been going on for years) poc from asian countries still love her. im indian and i have SO. MANY. FRIENDS. who absolutely eat up everything she does and follow her blindly even though theyre willing to call out other forms of racism and bigotry by other people and get so hurt if you try and call ts out. they organise ts events and are a really huge and vocal fandom in india as well. their hypocrisy and obsession is so weird and annoying.

I wish I could tell you how many times I read this over Anon. This is INSANE TO ME!! I completely understand why you're annoyed with their hypocrisy, because this is boggling my mind. Like I cannot stop reading this over I am so confused by their actions 😭

I've heard that they're a lot of Asian Swifties but I've never met them IRL or really seen them online either (IS is the only person I can think of), so thank you for letting me know that they do in fact exist and unfortunately in large numbers as well.

I'm also struggling with how PoC Swifties rationalize liking her music despite TS's own explicit racism. Especially since so many PoC Swifties in my life (they are not my friends. I simply know them) are like your friends who aren't afraid to call out racism, sexism, homo/transphobia, etc. yet will openly stream and yearn to TS.

(Although, I will say, ALL of them fetishize white people. Like they only go after and want to date white people. It's the weirdest and most unsettling phenomenon I've witnessed specifically among PoC Swifties.)

I think it's a demonstration of how flawed their own ideological commitments are if they can push aside and ignore racist actions of their favorite artist because their music is just "so good." It shows who and what they're willing to sacrifice to continue justifying their love for this racist musician, and them getting defensive just shows that they know liking her is inconjunct with their proclaimed beliefs.

When I see people act like this on social media, I often question their ulterior motives when they call out racism and bigotry. To what extent does their solidarity apply to, and to who? Why do they present themselves as left leaning politically when their actions say otherwise?

It undermines their actions and commitment and shows their internalized racism that they can continue supporting a racist artist like this. I have dealt with PoC like this, who present themselves as an ally, who say all the right words and right things and yet their actions consistently undermine their actions which led me to distancing myself from them and in my experience, unfortunately reinforcing my skepticism with other PoC :(

It's why people say PoC solidarity is a myth, because your friends are an example of how they would rather continue stanning a racist white artist knowing she's dated someone who's consumed and masturbated to pornographic content that explicitly showed torturing Black women. (here's a link to a reddit post that explains it (sfw)).

It's easier for them to ignore what she did than it is to hold themselves accountable knowing that she dated someone like this and what it means for them and what it says about their beliefs. You're right; not only are they hypocrites, but they display blatant cognitive dissonance by stanning TS.

tl;dr you're not crazy, they really aren't down for their beliefs like they say/act like they are if they continue defending/stanning a blatant racist white woman like her. they should work on their internalized racism and not bother calling themselves allies to other PoC (esp. black women) as long as they stan her.

No but rich people (especially rich Americans) are ACTUALLY fucking mental, and not even on big scale shit, but on really small everyday stuff too. Like it’s crazy, I fully saw a video that was one of those ones where it was like, “THIS is not a healthy amount of food”, and then it was a few varying portions, some of them were pretty small, some were really really normal and average, and then “THIS is healthy :)” and then it’s the most fucking MASSIVE bowl of food with the biggest portions you’ve ever seen in your life. Am I insane or is that crazy patronising???

Like ok yeah, I get people struggle with food, and if you’re purposefully eating teeny tiny portions even though you have more because of psychological reasons, of COURSE that’s unhealthy, but the amount of food these people eat in these kinds of videos is actually insane. It might just be because they’re American, bc American portions are massive, but there’s something absolutely mad to me in these posts that they go “oh so you know this perfectly average meal? This very affordable normal amount of food to eat for a meal? You should be eating this instead :)” and then show a medieval king ass feast. OR, “here’s what I eat in a day! (Realistic <3 bc social media isn’t real)” and then it’s a sandwich the size of her fucking arm.

It’s not even just food too, it’s overindulgence in everything, and it’s such a weird fucking thing, and imo it leads to this weird Americanised sense of entitlement sometimes??? Like there’ve been a few times as a kid where I’ve tried imitating these American ass trends, which are ALWAYS framed as “this is healthy” or “this is realistic”, and ofc every time I’d get my ma laughing in my face with some variation of “what do you think I am? Made of money?” or “are you some kind of princess now?”, and she was 100% right every time, and as I started getting older and having more of an actual concept of money, I ALWAYS thought “it’s crazy how Americans can afford this much shit.”

I REALLY fucking hate the Americanisation of everything tbh. You can’t escape it. Election season comes around, a thousand videos “we have to vote guys!” ???who the fuck is “we”. Also in shit like general culture too, ideas about culture and race which are only relevant for America. Not to say that racism only exists in America, but this “you can’t be racist towards white people/ahhhh oh no that’s cultural appropriation you can’t do that!!!!” stance on racism. I’ve lived in Ireland my entire life, not that it really matters bc being Irish is not really a “race”, it’s a nationality, but my ancestors were all celtic, I have a culture. an attempt at my final thoughts on the star wars prequels, for now at least:

while i overall loved them, easily the worst aspect of the whole deal were the blatantly racist aliens. explain to me why jar-jar and the gungans had to talk like a poor imitation of a jamaican and why the greedy alien bugmen had vaguely asian accents. fucked up, man

all that being said, jar jar wasn't that bad from an annoyingness perspective. i think i remember laughing at him getting hurt at one point, even. the prequels definitely would've been better without him, but i feel like if you literally just changed his voice to something more normal and tweaked his dialogue to be a bit less juvenile we could've had someone actually enjoyable to see on screen. i'm a darth jar-jar truther btw, it would've been really funny if he just randomly started talking like a normal person and pulled out a red lightsaber

i loved the performances of the women especially! shmi and padme especially, you can definitely tell they both gave it their all into their performances. i think from a writing perspective shmi could've been written with a bit more complexity than "anakin's mom", but by god did her actress really sell that whole world weary downtrodden vibe convincingly. padme was also lovely throughout the whole thing, i definitely feel like she carried the brunt of making her and anakin's relationship feel legit (even if anakin's actor also did a stellar job). maybe it's just that i'm biased in favor of women but GOD did they do a good job

anakin and obi-wan both did a stellar job, i especially loved their banter at times. might've been a tad quippy for some people's tastes but it was nowhere near like, marvel movie snark, y'know? anakin was definitely the most awkward part of these movies, but to me that adds to the charm. and that segues into my next point nicely, i think

now, maybe i'm reading way too deeply into this and i'm insane for this, but am i crazy for thinking the dialogue in these movies is reminiscent of how autistic people communicate? like, that might be why most people hate it, because most people are neurotypicals, and that's why it felt so natural to me personally. i 100% doubt it was intentional, but damn dude i gotta wonder

one last thing, i absolutely loved the politics in these movies. i know that's one of the more divisive things, but i feel like it's what really makes it all work for me! palpatine playing 4d chess and manipulating both the republic and the separatists into a position in which he'll ultimately get complete control!!! him subtly manipulating anakin throughout the whole thing, if you have your eye open for it it's fucking everywhere!!! how it shows a steady decline from a liberal democracy to a dictatorship so damn smooth that it feels like a natural progression!!! how fascists turn love for those around you into hate towards your enemies, god dude!!! a big part of this is just palpatine's actor being amazing but the prequels really made these movies for me

one last thing is the jedi. i love how fucking flawed they are!!! the arrogance, the blindness, the ultimately good natured intentions being clouded by their fucking code, god dude the jedi are so good in this!!! i loved how poorly they handled anakin, him constantly struggling with his emotions and instead of teaching him how to constructively deal with them they just tell him to ignore them entirely. it really makes his fall feel... inevitable. it all makes sense, to me. i once heard somebody say that the greatest tragedies are outwardly preventable but inwardly inevitable, because in order to prevent them the characters would have to be fundamentally different people. that's the jedi, to me, that's anakin too. had the jedi code had been different, maybe it would've been different. who's to say

no YEAH and like, obvious caveat it isn't the whole fandom but twitter does incentivise the absolute craziest people to get popular which means some of thee most annoying people to have ever existed in this world are popular in the greater hotd fandom, and what's been consistently frustrating is how many people who are either rhaenicent/girls focused or tg stans who just refuse to acknowledge the absolutely cracked behavior coming from their side. like, all this focus on olivia, basically with the implication that this is an isolated thing like with the hate lena got for playing cersei, but it's not because imo the internet (or at least twitter) has gotten infinitely worse since got finished, so it's not just olivia getting this insane behavior, it's the bulk of the cast! and it's coming from everyone, from the angry book fans, the targ nation delulus, the femslash enjoyers, tb, tg, every subfandom has had some insane and over the line behavior directed towards the cast that loves to default to either "well you're ugly and i hope you die" or just straight up bigotry.

like the amount of people (largely the "toxic yuri enjoyers" or the tb stans, i can whack the people i hang out with!!) going after tom for saying standard actor stuff like "I love my character" or "i feel bad for my character" and saying he's a rape apologist is crazy. people didn't even go after jason momoa for that real dumbshit "i get to rape beautiful women" comment this hard! is he supposed to not try to understand the character he's playing?? are people who play villains or antagonists just never allowed to feel sympathy for their characters? that's crazy, that's insane, but especially in a series where a) there are SO MANY villain protagonists and b) this series is known for exploring why bad people turn into bad people and why good people do bad things and what even a "bad person" or a "good person" looks like, so why are we mad that the cast plays into this??

and YEAH tbh like you say, i think there's a lot of in this case tg stans specifically who get so fucking angry whenever Matt Smith plays along with the "all must choose" angle but it's like - yeah of course he does, he's not the only one doing this, he clearly thinks it's fun to joke about how he's gonna decimate ewan mitchell, and i think a lot of his bts stuff throughout his career has gone from the two extremes of "having something amazing to say" and "being completely and totally unserious" because this is a job he does, and he likes to get goofy with it. it's fine!!! but no, apparently, it's such a crime to simply exist and like that he's playing this fun character with a goofy wig and a cool aesthetic that we've gotta dogpile every post about him calling him ugly!! but when The People We Hate In Fandom do something vile like call olivia a cunt to her face, that's the true evil! and when People We Are Friends With start saying really weird shit about fabien being ~violent~ we just look the other way even tho that feels just a lil racist!!!

it's more frustrating because you can't even say this is a fandom that skews young like a shitty teen show or a cartoon - this is a grown up show for adults, this is prestige tv, this is a show and a series you actually think "maybe i should wait a few years before i let my middle schooler dig into that one" but the fandom is SO INSANE. You know... I kind of miss being a librarian. Not so much the actual work itself, and certainly not the people I ended up working for... But I kind of miss the pure insanity you encounter from day to day as a librarian. Any time I needed new material for a Miss Smalls story, all I ever had to do was go to work for a couple of days, and chances were I'd have all the inspiration I needed. Now that I work at a gaming store, I don't really have that. Even working for the second biggest chain of gaming stores in the country (Game X Change... We are second only to Game Stop) I still don't get quite the same level of crazy I did at the public library. It's like, sure, I could tell you about people calling in and asking if we sell random shit a game store would have no reason to sell, like katanas, or police scanners... Or tell you about the crack head family that comes in to sell Pokemon cards and how the dad won't stop swinging the baby around and throwing it up into the air until the baby finally gets so sick it vomits all over my store... Or the bitch area manager who keeps coming in and rearranges everything in the store to the point where no one who actually works there knows where anything is because that is the only thing she can do because she's too blazed out of her mind 24/7 to actually do anything useful but she still needs a reason to go from store to store and do stuff so she can collect a pay check and as the mistress of company's CEO it's not like anyone is going to fire her... I could talk about how that same bitch was dating one of the store managers while sleeping with the CEO behind his back and then dumped him and chose the CEO over him when he found out, despite the fact that the CEO is already married and was sleeping with her behind his own wife's back, and when the manager quit because he refused to work for either of them anymore they were the ones to host his going away party as if they thought that was somehow okay... Or I could talk about how the company is owned by a rich frat boy who has never had to work a day in his life, married a literal Saudi Arabian oil princess, and knows absolutely nothing about the things his stores sell, to the point where the very concept of model kits had to be explained to him and he still didn't get it... I could complain about how every time the Warhammer group shows up to play Warhammer at the tables in the back of the store they leave the bathrooms looking like we were housing a group of circus elephants in there... But that just all seems so mundane compared to the stuff I saw at the library. No more stories about how we had to yell at a man to get out of our tree only to later catch him living in our utility room and find out he was an armed robber who had been going around town in a circle robbing the same three pizza places over and over... No more stories about the insane woman who would steal pork chops out of the Walmart dumpsters because her psychic told her pork cleanses the soul (the older the pork the better) or the extremely racist cook book she was writing... I miss people like Tree Boy and Pork Chop Lady... I miss the weird guy who would come in every night and just sit in a chair and stare at people in silence for five hours... Or the guy with the Crying Elvis t-shirt who was always trying to take pictures of our feet when we weren't looking... Or the guy who wore shorts and sandals under a trench coat and ball cap, never spoke a word to anyone, and only rented children's movies... How many people can say they've had a professional sword sallower threaten to never swallow swords in their building again because he saw an LGBT book on the shelf? How often have you ever found porn hidden in your ceiling? How often have you seen a video on Facebook of a man getting caught without his pants on while he sat in the parking lot of a public park watching children playing on the playground and said, "Oh shit, that's Mr. Gee..." I mean, I could probably do with less pedophiles... And less cannibals... But I still miss that kind of insanity.

My coord for Forbidden Door! Simple look, but I liked it. Wish my accessories had come in on time, but I'm happy.

I put my thoughts on the PPV under the cut. Theres a lot, and its the good, the bad and the ugly. So proceed with caution.

- I'm used to going to shows in NJ and PHL, so we were impressed by efficiency and organization at UBS.

- Like I said, great seats. We were in the 100s, row 10. Would choose seats like that again.

- I've only been to two live wrestling events and forgot how annoying wrestling fans can be when they aren't engaged with what they are watching. Just talking about anything and everything if they don't know the wrestler in the ring. I get not everyone wants to do research, but be a little curious? Be engaged and see wbaf they have to offer?

- MJF got a massive pop, but once the wrestling started it was pretty quiet. I still don't get his thing and I think a lot of fans are more there for his persona than in ring ability.

- Hiromu was pretty over which made me happy considering the over-under of foreign talent reception.

- ZSJ v Orange Cassidy was excellent and following it up with Jericho felt absolutely criminal.

- I absolutely would never be able to tell from online how over The Acclaimed are. The crowd went wild for them AND loved their rap. The match was honestly pretty fun! And seeing Okada and Tanahashi IRL felt pretty special.

- Dragon match felt like it was a "for the wrestlers" match. Also some peoplle left right after. I guess thats what they paid all that money to see.

- Ladder match was fun! I think it was sligntly dampened for me because half the people involved were very obviously not going to win. CM Punk chants were annoying. No one knew ELP which was a crime. Takashita should have won and taken the belt with him to Japan idc. 

- Takeshita is so over. And hes so impressive IRL. Heard a lot of people shocked by how big he is.

- I love Stephanie Vaquer so much! Shes quickly becoming one of my top favorites. Her and Mercedes had a Top 3 match last night. Shes a superstar! The way people were trying to derail the match and she MADE them care. It was also crazy how quickly the crowd turned on Mercedes? She did one move which looked cool to me but the arena shifted to Stephanie on a dime. Obviously knew she wasn't going to win but I'm glad she made such a strong impression.

- Just to reiterate. Just because you don't know someone, doesn't mean you should just mentally check out. Why are you talking about the fourhorsewomen during this match? Its absolutely insane to me how some wrestling fans can't watch a match unless they are familiar with the lineage of both wrestlers.

- The Naito v Mox match was bad. Just... felt bad. Naito didn't seem right the whole time. Personally I think he came out looking worse and I know who he is and how great he was. Look, Naitos legacy is secure but if the goal is to get people interested in NJPW that was the worst mstch to showcase it. And I can't blame the fans on this. Stephanie and Mina both won over the crowd. If you didn't know Naito (and plenty of people didn't, I heard them asking who he was) then this match certainly wouldn't make you want to learn. 

- I was looking forwad to people no longer complaining now that Naito has the title except now the complaint is that he has it and NJPW is screwed because they don't have anyone worth taking it off him. Glad I got into DDT because NJPW discourse is going to be annoying until the G1 starts.

- Swerve v Ospready was out of this world. Genuinely felt like it could have gone either way. The timing on the counts was immaculate. You should have heard the boos when Don Callis appeared. And Nana got to be the hero! The whole arena was absolutely rocking with Swerve.

- There were two weird Ospreay fanboys who kept yelling 'Fuck Swerve'. No one was joining them, even other Ospready fans. It felt weirdly racist because they KEPT DOING IT even though no one else was paying then any attention?? I think people were also getting restless because someone started shrieking intermittedly in the crowd and then people started screaming for them to shut up.

- Speaking of bad fan behavior. Absolutely fuck fans who try to make the show about them. When Stephanie and Mercedes were going hard this asshole in a celtics shirt stood up and of course the crowd started chanting at him. You freaks only do that shit during womens matches.

- Back to Swerve v Ospreay and in any case the end of the show. Beautiful finish, surprising finish! Definately thought Swerve was going to TD91 him but it was a surprisingly kinder finish? Which I'm hoping is where Adam Page comes in. Speaking of which I think a lot of us were lingering around waiting for a confrontation. People almost started booing when it just ended like normal.

- All in all, a lot of fun! I definately want to see more live events when they're in my area! Worth the three hour drive

i don't think some people will ever understand how being a person of color rlly does make you read so so so far into the future from the smallest thing that feels like maybe someone is just thinking about picking up the pen to put the writing on the wall. it creates so much mental vigilance when u grow up in a racist town where the smallest off hand thing did become then the biggest thing that one comment someone made in middle school ended up to them being a full blown racist by junior year etc etc. it makes u try to predict the future and does put so much worry into you that to others it sounds absolutely insane but it really does just. instill it into you. leave before it can even have the chance to become something that could possibly become worse. im realizing a lot lately how just growing up in the town i did really did shape a lot of how i perceive and react to things. to others you seem insanely unreasonable paranoid but to those who have grown up with that in their life it doesn't seem so crazy for the smallest tiniest thing to start to spark worry. an unsettling worry that is very hard to let go even when you know it's ridiculous.

These people do not want social justice. They don't give a flying fuck about social justice. All they want is for everybody else to put them on a pedestal for being victims of discrimination so that they never take accountability for any of their shit, while at the same time discriminating other groups of people in the process.
